Referencing Single Metadata Fields in a Custom Web Template

Is there a way to refer to a single metadata field in a custom web gallery template? I don't see a syntax for this in the files that define the templates that ship with Aperture. They appear to refer only to the metadata as a collection. Is there a way to refer to individual fields?

The problem is that Web Templates are deployed to a gallery in a site collection and aren't available in Central Admin when creating a new site collection.  YOu have to create the site collection without choosing a template and then choose your web
template when you first access the root site in the site collection.  Here's an article that discusses that process here:
http://sharepointchick.com/archive/2011/02/10/using-web-templates-to-create-site-collections.aspx
Other than that Vesa's article is still the best one and works essentially the same in 2013 as it does in 2010.

  • Access metadata fields through a custom Service Class

    Hi all,
I have to create a custom component for Oracle Content Server. I need to access metadata fields from a custom Service Class.
Can you directly access metadata through a java class or to pass parameters (metadata fields) from a web page to java class? How?
    Are there other solutions?
    Thanks, ale

I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you are after, but here is some information.
    If your url is http://someserver/idc/idcplg?IdcService=CUSTOM_SERVERY&Parm1=A&Parm2=B
Then in your java code you can use the binder.getLocal method to get those values.
    String strParm1 = binder.getLocal("Parm1");
you may have to use binder or m_binder (depends on the variable name in your specific situation).

  • Custom Web template for the "online link" UI command

    All
We are trying to use a specific custom web template to allow personlization of reports within the Portal BI tool using the online link UI command.  After users have broadcasted their reports to their BIuserhome directory there is an online link UI command associated to the saved report.
Our one option would be to configure the web template as the default within the IMG.  But when we configured a default within the IMG, personalization of the report is not available with the context menu of the report.  We are broadcasting the reports to the BIuserhome directory.  Once the reports are saved users have the ability access the report using the online link UI command.  Since we lose personalization when we configure the IMG with a default web template, we want use a custom web template when we execute the online link UI command.
Is there a way to pass a web template parameter when we execute the online link UI command?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Call custom web templates in Solman_workcenter?

    Hello,
in the solman_workcenter you can call a couple of web templates in the test evaluation; e.g. Status Report -> for selected test plans opens the web template 0TWB_TESTPLAN_STATUS as seen at the parameter TEMPLATE_ID in the url. The template contains a query, also called 0TWB_TESTPLAN_STATUS, which shows a couple of values for the selected test plans.
I would like to call a custom web template instead of the standard template.
Is there any way to do this without an enhancement of the web dynpro?
    Edit:
I can switch the called standard query inside the web template for a custom query in the web application dasigner. But I'm afraid that these changed settings will be overwritten after an update of the BI content.

hi, robert, i just like to know why the cubes are still empty after the activation of the BI content ?

  • Last Data Update Info field not showing in Web Template

Last Data Update Info field does not show up in the Web Template. This Web Template is for a MultiProvider on top a single cube.
Greatly appreciate if anyone has any insight into this issue.

    Hi Suma,
if other queries work fine using exactly the same (customized) template the problem is most likely not the template. Does the appropriate query does display figures? Is your data binding done correctly within the template?
What happens if you execute the customized template which does not display Last Data Update Info field with another (i.e. a different) query? Does it display the Last Data field? What happens the other way round: you execute a different template with the appropriate query (which does not display Last Data Update). Does it show the Last Data Update?
Just give it a try, this sometimes help

  • ISE access custom-web templates directly

    Hey guys,
I am having trouble with a ISE (1.2 patch5) at a customers site when deploying customized html pages for wireless guest-access. The reason we need to use these customized templates is that the language template for the AUP seems not to supprt too many characters and the customers AUP just shows about 20% of these. Therefore I wanted to use the multi-portal configuration to upload a set of html files generated from the samples provided by cisco documentation. The customer complains about missing logos and that the success page is complete html code. I have only remote-desktop access to open the CLI and web-gui of ISE and cannot test for myself the behavior of the pages rendered by ISE.
My question is: Is there a way to open the custom web-page without having to connect to the ISE via WLC? something like:
    https://IP:PORT/guestportal/multiportal/CUSTOMPORTAL
I thought I had it in earlier versions of ISE but cannot find the URL anymore.
Some specs around ISE and WLC:
virtual ISE, standalone deployment, version 1.2 Patch 5
    WLC2504 running version 7.4.121.0
It is for guest access, so it has to work for most common mobile devices and mobile-workstations(Note- and Macbooks).
    Thanks for your help.

    Patrick,
For the click-through flow to work correctly, you must have the custom portal set as the default on the ISE.  To access the portal from your web browser, go to:
    https://IPAddress:8443/guestportal/Login.action?portalname=CustomPortalName

  • Update Managed Metadata field in SharePoint 2013 Designer Workflow for O365

    Hi Guys,
I need to update the managed metadata field in SharePoint Custom List using Workflow but its not working. I have also tried to use the HTTP WebService POST Operation but no luck.
Am doing this for a SharePoint Online (O365) Site.
Has anyone worked on something similar and was able to get it running ?
I saw a post to create a custom Workflow Activity but I don't have a choice to go with the custom code option.
    http://patrickboom.wordpress.com/2013/07/23/workflow-activity-set-managed-metadata-column/
I was able to achieve this by creating a SP 2010 based Workflow for O365. Which means that it worked well with SP 2010.
Is there a different way to do it in 2013 ? I tried almost all options apart from creating custom Activity but nothing worked out.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Nutan
    Nutan Sharma

    Hi Nutan,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to update Managed Metadata field with SharePoint 2013 Designer for SharePoint Online.
As far as I know, there is not an OOB action to achieve your requirement with SharePoint 2013 Designer for SharePoint 2013. Customizing a workflow action is a better option to achieve it.  Why didn’t you customize a workflow action as Patrick’s blog?
In addition, please take a look at the article about Nintex workflow, check whether it is useful for you:
    http://habaneroconsulting.com/insights/setting-managed-metadata-fields-in-a-nintex-workflow#.UykBSf6KDHo
As this issue is about SharePoint Online, I suggest you create a new thread on SharePoint Online forum:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=onlineservicessharepoint . More experts will assist you.
    I hope this helps.

  • Hierarchical metadata field?

In UCM 10gR3, is it possible to create a single metadata field that has hierarchy built right into it? I am thinking of metadata fields like WebSiteSection or Virtual Folder (xCollectionID) or perhaps dDocAccount.
    1 Geography
    1.1 North America
    1.1.1 USA
    1.1.1.1 East Coast
    1.1.1.2 Central
    1.1.1.3 West Coast
    1.1.2 Canada
    1.2 Europe
    1.2.1 Germany
    1.2.2 Spain
For example, I would like to store this hierarchy in a metadata table (or tables) and check in documents and assign them to values at any node level (North America, Spain, West Coast, Canada and so on) and not just the leaf nodes. My requirement has nothing to do with geography- the above is just an example.
Or is there any other way to achieve this effect?

You can create a metadata field that stores a tree of values without customization, but it takes some time to set up in Config Mgr Applet.
Also, it will store the value as a text string like, America -> USA -> New York, so beware how you need to use the information in terms of searching. Also, because its stored like this, if you update your tree values, none of the stored records will be updated (i.e. these aren't true relational fields).
With that being said, you would need to create a table in Config Mrg for each level of the tree you need. For fields each table would need a primary key (unique ID), the name, and the name of the parent in the next level up. Then you create corresponding Views in Config Mgr for each table. Then you create a Relation for each link between the levels (level1-2, level2-3, etc). Then you add an Information metadata field, make it an Option Lists and click Use Tree.
That's one way to do it. Maybe dependent choice lists are better in terms of searching though, IDK.

  • Regarding upgrade of web report\web templates functionalites BW 3.5-BI 7.0

    hi all,
I m working on a Upgrade study from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0 for Web Templates, web items and java scripts.
Below is the scenario of the client system:
New web templates are created from the 6 master web templates available for publishing to a custom Portal (created using BSP and hosted on the WAS). TOOLBAR and FOOTER are custom web templates used in all Master Templates and contain various JavaScript functions and footer code respectively.
TOOLBAR provides the Toolbar, header and buttons functionalities in the Master Templates via the contained Javascript functions. FOOTER displays the date and time of issue as well the logged in user.
FOOTER1 and FOOTER2 are web items derived from FOOTER web template. They have different set of web item properties and are used to create web templates used through the custom Portal.
It is observed from BW Tables that out of 100 unique Web Templates available in the system, 90 are using TOOLBAR template and 95 are using FOOTER template.
No external Javascript .js files are used in the Web templates. Most of the Javascript functionality is contained in TOOLBAR and no other custom javascript in master templates. However, there are some derived web templates where custom javascript is contained.
Following is the process to create custom Web Templates in development server that are eventually transported to QA and Production:
    1)     The appropriate master template is identified and saved with new name in developer role.
    2)     Dataprovider is added to corresponding web items.
    3)     From the library, properties are transferred from master template to the custom template.
    4)     Report title is added in HTML tab.
    5)     No changes are needed in the Web Templates Properties except change of value in  “Show Jump Target in” field to the portal Frame ConPortal or _self in case RRI is to be used.
    6)     Some properties like Title, Width in Pixel, Affected Data Provider, etc. needs to be adjusted. Changes can be done to web items seen in Overview tab except the FOOTER and TOOLBAR web items. These web items are saved as reusable components in Library.
    7)     After all the changes the web template created is transported from development server.
To summarize, all master data for creation of web templates like reusable master templates, web items in library, web templates containing Javascript code are stored in dev. server. Custom web templates created from these are transported.
I want to validate the sequence of migration as below:
Following sequence has to be followed for the Web Templates and Queries Migration in development BI 7.0 Server:
    1)     Migrate the Individual BEx Queries first and perform functional testing.
    2)     Migrate the TOOLBAR template manually (create as new in BI 7.0 Toolset) and FOOTER template automatically (using Migration Tool).
    3)     Manually migrate the JavaScript code in TOOLBAR. Please refer to section ..for more details.
    4)     Migrate the library of reusable web items, if any.
(What to do if web item is custom or is not supported in BI 7.0)
    5)     Migrate the Master Web Templates manually (create as new in BI 7.0 Toolset) and automatically (wherever possible) and perform functional testing.
    6)     Migrate the custom web templates automatically (wherever possible) and manually, if automatic migration is not possible. Perform functional testing and data provider binding.
    7)     Perform jump target binding wherever applicable.
    8)     Transport custom templates, TOOLBAR and FOOTER to QA and Production subsequently.
Also i have the following questions:
    1. How to migrate functionalities accessed thru web templates like jump queries, general navigation blocks with filter, table interface, and are data providers automatically linked to web items or have to be done manually post migration.
    2. Do we need to migrate the library of reusable web items also.
    3. After migrating the master  web templates and javascript containing templates to BI 7.0, can we migrate automatically the custom webtemplates derived from master templates and containing the custom javascript that is now avaialbe in BI 7.0, will they pick up the custom code automatically.
    thanks in advance

  • How to pass variable between CRM Fact sheet and BI web template

    Hello,
I am looking for someone who has integrated a custom web template with the CRM fact sheet (I am on 2004s).
I have created a custom web application design template for displaying on the portal for a CRM factsheet (TPL_FACT_SHEET).
This template is based on a query which has a variable (CHOOSE_CUST, ready for input, input: optional type) on 0CUSTOMER char.
When the sales rep queries the CRM FactSheet on the portal- based on the 0CUSTOMER he is demanding the fact sheet for,  the appropriate 0CUSTOMER value needs to be parsed to my custom web template and it should return him the report. The report is very simple with just sales for current and previous year by material group. There is a std template to do this but we are using cutom data providers and hence need to create this custom web template.
Thus far I have created a 'filter pane' in my web template but do not know how to link this with the CRM fact sheet or even how to link it to my query variable. Currently when my template is called from the factsheet (portal) it displays results for multiple customers without any filter!
Please advise how to proceed in linking the CRM fact sheet 0Customer number with my web template filter pane!
    Full points for useful answers!

  • To decide save site as a template, web template or site definition

    hi,
I have to create a generic site template which has few tabs in the home page and on click of these links/tabs
in this site template it will navigate to the sub sites created under that[this generic site template shud contain 3 sub sites -
[1 blog, 1 search center sub site, meeting workspace as tabs in the site template’s top navigation] and
    a) 2 Doc Libs
    b) 2 splists by default present in this site template [ most prob. its a team site template]
What should be the correct approach for creating this site template:
I have thought of implementing using:
     a) save site as a template and upload this wsp into the solution gallery. and based on this site template
i will create new subsites. one problem i will be facing is that, mine is a publishing site template not team site template.
     b) create a  web template having the above subsites and doc libs and splists
     c) last option is to create a  site definition [ complex ]
which one should i choose, assuming that, there would be future changes from customer side in the
site template.like, adding a new splist, sp doclic or a new custom web part.
in that case, adding a new addtion to the already existing site template will not affect/reflect the already running
    sites' content.
only those new sites which is created  based on the updated site template would be having the new additions
    implemented.
      help is highly appreciated.

    Hi,
From your description, the most concern you might have is that customers will have the requirements to add other components into their sites and created with them afterwards.
Since SharePoint 2010, it is recommended to take use of something like “a la carte” pattern to manage SharePoint sites. If there are needs to add sites, lists or other components,
we can make them as solution(.wsp) and deploy to our sites. By doing this, we will be more flexible and easier to manage the features and structure of sites.
So you can just create a site template with simple structure and deploy the solutions you want after sites created.

  • Custom Site Templates How-To

I'm absolutely not opposed to doing a good deal of reading on this topic, so feel free to recommend online (and offline) resources that I might consult that provide the kind of information I'm seeking here. In any case, here is my issue...
I have been asked to develop "custom site templates" for an existing SharePoint 2013 (on-prem) environment where the vast majority of the site collections that are likely to ever be are already provisioned. My [admittedly feeble] understanding
of the "proper" way to do site templates is to reference the master pages and style library and such that exist at the site collection root for subordinate sites that are hosted within that site collection. Buuuuut, when the site collections already
exist (i.e. you aren't creating them using a customized template that contains all that information), what is the best practice approach to handling and applying these customizations?
I will point out that I am equipped and willing to manage these custom templates using VS (2013), but if that's not entirely necessary, then I'm as willing to avoid that... ;)
If someone could get me started on the right approach or point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

    Hi Ramz_dc,
In addition to the default templates, you can create your own site template based on a site you’ve created and customized in SharePoint. This is a powerful feature in SharePoint that allows you to create a custom solution and then share that solution with
your peers, the broader organization, or outside organizations. You can also package the site and open it in another environment or application like Microsoft Visual Studio and further customize it there.
Take a look at the below links
