Refine-edges! CS6, problems!

Having big probelms with, refine-edges, in CS6. after the selection and entering the, refine-edges, to either remove or add, with either brush or eraser, it simply won't work, the alterations never seem to register and it comes back, i.e. its impossible to use. I am a photographer and work in Mac.
Any ideas anybody?

I did! but instead it showed up here?? but it wont matter, the people there
don't know! Must say for being an Adobe forum dealing with people like
myself who have used their products for nearly 20 years in film-industry,
commercial directing, graphic-design and stills-photography. This is just
about the messiest forum I have ever encoutered. Reaaly amateurish
actually. Not good PR for Adobe.

Refine-edges wont work in CS6

I just dont understand why they wont work in win 7 pro 64 bit , is it an os problem or is it a cs6 problem, when i had cs6 in win xp pro, was it installed as a 32 bit program, if thats the case can i load a 32 bit version of cs6>>>??? thanks!!
It's not the OS - W764Pro can run 32-bit software fine in emulation. Your problem is that there is no 32-bit version of CC. It was widely circulated before release that this was going to be 64-bit only, and that you would need bridging software to run old 32-bit VST plugins.
Apparently, jbridge works fine once you've got it installed and everything in the correct place. I wouldn't know though, because I don't use it - I only use a small number of 64-bit plugins directly. On those few occasions that I want to use a 32-bit plugin, I run it in CS6 Audition (which isn't the CC version, but is 32-bit). So yes, if you have the 32-bit program you can run them in that. Both versions of the software will co-exist quite happily on the same machine, and won't interact at all - except that you have to be careful with your sound device settings.

Quick Selection refine edges error message. Not enough ram??

I am on day 6 of the drial for CC. The quick selection tool worked great for about 3 days and then i started getting the 'not enough memory' error message while refining edges. I have cleared memory, done updates, adjusted preferences etc and although my sytem is running dramatically better i am still getting the error message! Can anyone help please?

i'd set paging to 2x installed RAM min and max and leave it at that.
ditto same physical drive info. if you can help it, windows swap and ps scratch should be on seperate drives.
as for the EMPTY drive, i don't think so. all you need is a large contiguous block of free space. i have a drive with over 100gig free, that i keep defragged so the free space is in one big block, i use that as my ps scratch drive. the problems happen when you start fragmenting your scratch file, so that the disk heads have to jump around the drive to read and write - and i think that's what FA's advice is trying to tell you to avoid at all costs.

Refine edges doesn't decontaminate the colors properly.

When I'm cutting out the edges, with the refine edges tool, from a model/subject who has the hair of a similar color of the background, such as blonde hair and sky blue background, although I check the decontamination tool (and also set an high percentage of this one) the new level with its mask shows that the hair are still "contaminated" by background-colored shaded pixels.
This happens also if I use the refine edge ray brush on the hair edges.

It's not a perfect tool. Add a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, and try and sample the problem colour. If you have trouble, use the RGBB dropdown and chose the best of the six options. Drag the saturation slider all the wau to the left. If it has not quite got the colour, use the colour bars at the bottom of the H/S layer properties, and drag out the pointers to fully remove the colour.
Now invert the layer mask, and paint over the hair and / or the problem area, with a white brush.
The Refine Edge tool is not the magic trick that some tutorials make it out to, and nor is it particularly intuitive. For the best 'real world' tutorial, Google 'Martin Evening Refine Edge'

WIth the masking and grading tools placed side-by-side, you can now work faster on the mask workflow." Is there a way to move, hide, or otherwise manipulate the panels for a custom layout? All the examples I can find on the Web show the Looks panel to the left of the Mask panel where the controls are available.

Ok, here is what I have so far. Appdelete the iWork and reinstalled. Pages and Number work, but not Keynote.
Now, I downloaded a couple apps that I need, and no matter what I did, the spinning ball came up and the download stopped till it unlocked itself. It is really frustrating because the download was not completed and whatever came through would not mount. Could this issue be the internet connection? Permission fix showed a lot of Airport issues. I will try to run permissions fix again.

Photoshop CS6 Problems

I have installed photoshop cs6 on my computer (Windows 7) but the programm is a bit useless since it can't create or open files.
I tryed reinstalling all my adobe programms 3 times but photoshop still won't work.
Do you have an idea how I can make the programm work?

Thanks for you email, I finally went to an informatician today. We
finally found out that even if windows 7 sais the drivers are up to date
the driver that is managin to switsch between the two graphic cards
wasn't up to date. We downloaded it from the website and photoshop works
now perfectly well.

Adobe Photoshop CS6 Problem

I have successfully installed Photoshop CS6 to my computer. However, when I open the front page to CS6 everything "freezes up", and I cannot open any of the tabs - not even the file or close tabs.
Have uninstalled and re-installed the CS6 several times with no effect. Am installing from a boxed disc that I purchased from Adobe.

CS5 Refine Edges tool not working how its suppose to

Hello everyone - well I like the title says refine edges tool not working right -
I open an image in photoshop - make a quick selection of a part of the image and then go into refine edges - Click on smart radious and when I use the brush to get a better selection that part becomes transparent - I tried seaching everywhere for an answer but noone seems to know

Marquee "Refine Edges" Bug report.

How can I submit a bug to Adobe? I posted this thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/3004106#3004106 and have found out what the issue is after a large amount of time troubleshooting.
The bug is found by following these steps.
Make a box in illustrator, copy paste as smart object into photoshop file. Command click on the smart object, then Select>Modify>Expand 100 pixels. Copy paste into a new document. See the feathered edges on the sides?
Now to avoid feather edges you need to set your "Contrast" to 100% in Refine Edges. But here is where the bug is. If you are working on one document, when you copy paste into the new one if you set your contrast too 100% it will still feather. You have to go into the Refine Edges, move the cursor from 100% all the way to 0% then back up to 100% EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!!
I am working on a rather large window display spanning several hundred feet (10+ windows) I set up all the windows at 10% in Illustrator because of scale. Import into PS at 1000dpi then drop the dpi to 100 (resizing) for the final product. I have 10+ windows to do, with each one having 2 marquee selections (bottom and top windows) This means I can no longer just expand my marquee selection, copy/paste into a new document and be done. Now my steps are tripled because of this new "feature". I can't imagine having to do something like this full time. Why on earth would I have to put the contrast to 100% then down to 0% then back up to 100% EVERY TIME I try to copy paste something?
On a side note, is there a way to get this feature removed or taken out of CS4? I just want clean edges all the time, I never use feathering...at all.

Refine Edge tool problem

I'm following a tutorial from the CS6 Photoshop essential skills CD using the supplied images. When I am using the refine edge tool and going over the areas around the hair of my subject, my selections appear as they do in the tutorial but as soon as I let go of my mouse the selection disappears and no hair strands appear. If I zoom right in, I can sometimes see some of the strands but its as if the opacity on the selection has been decreased and the image is faded. Then, if I zoom in and out my selections appear then disappear. It definitely seems as if its a bug or something not right.

Are you viewing at 100%? If not the change may not show. Otherwise reset the Refine Edge dialog to default and try again.
If this doesn't fix it try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.

You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

Photoshop CS6 - problem displaying CMYK files in the project RGB

I have a problem in 64 bit Photoshop CS6 - a new file (RGB, 72 dpi, no color profiles, mode 8-bit) images I put smart objects (images, CMYK, 300 dpi, 8-bit mode) wanting to build a small presentation for the web. These images in CMYK in some places have black spots pixelowe mainly in places where there is a gradient, or green. When you export a file to jpg's no black spots.
In other applications, this problem does not exist. Restarted the program recording it again but the problem has not gone away. Photoshop settings are standard.
I'm working on Win Pro 7, a very good computer.
What do I do? Help me: (

I am not entirely sure I understand you, but it sounds like it could be graphic card related... possibly at least. Could you post a screen-shot of how the problem looks?

My new Photoshop CS6 downloaded fine on line to my MacBook Pro, When I tried to activate, it went through a 10 minute insallation and everything seemed to be going fine but then it came up with a message saying that it couldn't instal. I cliked on the more info tab and got the following:

You can ignore this error and launch the products you were installing.
The CS5.5 installer correctly skips installing its older Flash Player components. However, it incorrectly reports an error at the end of the installation process.
Try to launch Flash Professional. If it launches successfully, then no installation error actually occurred. The error message is false and there is no impact to functionality.
Important: If you have any additional problems with the installation or launching products, another error could have occurred. For help identifying with these other errors, see Troubleshoot CS5 and CS5.5 installation with install logs (cpsid_84451).

Photoshop CS6 - Problems with Canon Easy PhotoPrint Pro!

Hi,
I have been a user of Photoshop for years, starting with CS2, and upgrading regularly.
Currently, I have Photoshop CS6, working on Windows 8, 64 bit!
With every version of PS, I have installed a Canon add in, called Easy Photoprint Pro.
I have found that this provides the best colour match (monitor/Canon Pixma Pro 9000 printer).
With CS 6, I find that as soon as I try and run Easy Photoprint, Photoshop stops working and closes down! (File >> Automate >> Easy PhotoPrint)
I have down loaded both the latest versions of PS from Adobe com, and Easy Photoprint Pro, from Canon - The latter is claimed to be compatible with Windows 8 and Photoshop CS 6.
I have tried disabling all other programs, at start up, and disabling all non Microsoft services; also disabling my Security suit!
I would be interested in hearing if anyone has experience this problem, and has a solution

The problem has been resolved, I think! For anyone interested,
(1) I completely uninstalled all Adobe and Canon software and drivers!
(2) I then deleted all Canon and Adobe folders on my C drive (Program Files & Program Files X 86).
(3) I then ran REGEDIT and deleted All Canon and Adobe Keys!
(4) I then ran CCleaner Registry cleaner!
(5) I then Restarted my computer!
(6) Finally, I reinstalled Photoshop (Updated on line); reinstalled Easy Photo Print and my Canon Printer Driver!
THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE!
I then repeated steps (1) to (5), but started my PC in SAFE MODE!
I then repeated step (6); namely:I reinstalled Photoshop (Updated on line); reinstalled Easy Photo Print and my Canon Printer Driver!
THIS APPEARS TO HAVE CLEARED THE PROBLEM
