Reflashing, and kind of lost with the comands

first of all thank you cpitchford for getting me the os and emmc image, and now everything is set to reflash, i'm a bit lost should i start the commands with flasher-3.5.exe or just flasher-3.5  ???
and now this is my first reflash, ( tried nsu a couple of times to reintsall the software) , so should type the -r in the command or not, and what difference does it makes ?? , please i need quick replies .
Reality is wrong....dreams are for real... 2pac .
don't forget to hit that green kudos

if youre using windows, i think either is fine. normally, i just do
flasher-3.5.exe -F os.bin -f
replace os.bin with the name of the os image (i find it easier to just rename it to os.bin to begin with rather than reallylongfilenamethatidontwanttoscrewup.bin, lol) then shut down phone, hold the u button, then connect to computer whilst still holding u button. then it should boot into update mode, which is nokia logo and usb logo. then if youre in 32bit windows or windows xp mode, it will auto detect (in windows xp mode for 64bit windows, you need to click attach and choose the n900), then the flasher should proceed.
then when its done, type in
flasher-3.5.exe -F emmc.bin -f -R
replace emmc.bin with the name of the emmc file (once again, easier to just have renamed it to emmc.bin to begin with) it should reboot the device and proceed to flash the image.
make sure you dont put in the '-R' command on the os flash, as the -R is for reboot, and you do not want it to reboot after flashing the os image.
note if it freezes on the emmc flash, dont worry about it. just boot up the device and run it without flashing the emmc. it froze for me on the emmc flash, and yet it still runs perfectly fine.
note 2 flashing the emmc.bin file will wipe out all data. so backup first!

  • HT1476 After update to either iOS 7.0.3 or 7.0.4, my iPhone 4S won't charge. I'm using charger and cable that came with the phone. Nothing else changed.

I'm using charger and cable that came with the phone. Nothing else changed.
I think it was the update the iOS 7.0.4 that I did last night. I woke up this morning with my battery almost drained and the charging function going off and on every few seconds, like it would start charging then disconnect, then reconnect repeatedly.
I've tried restarting the phone and hard restarting the phone several times, but I'm getting really low on battery by now (under 20%).
I've tried cleaning the connector with a little isopropyl alcohol, and blowing it out with compressed air. Though I can't be 100% certain, it's very unlikely my connector died exactly at the same time I was updating my phone. Especially since it appears I'm not the only one with this problem.
And now, after the last hard reset, my phone doesn't even recognize the charger at all, or being connected with the USB cable to my MacBook Pro.
I turned off my phone so when I go to the Apple Store it will power up one last time, but besides that I'm out of ideas.

Just back from Genius Bar and two other people at my table had the same problem. Their 4Ss aren't charging either. One of them had a fried board according to the tech. At least my HW checked out OK. It just won't charge.
The tech tried to tell me that it was because my connector was corroded, which I told him was kind of a weak argument since evidence points to that the update has something to do with it.
They're seeing a lot of these and it looks like they already have a script.
Luckily I had enough juice left to recycle it for like $180, so I picked up a 5S with a new 2 year.
It looked to me like this is going to blow up pretty big. Like class action lawsuit big.
If you have an iPhone 4 or 4S, and you haven't updated it to iOS 7, don't for now. See if a patch comes out that doesn't brick your phone. Or get an induction charger maybe? Don't just update and expect absolutely no problems because too many people are having problems right now.

  • I forgot the passcode to turn off restrictions. I have restored my iPad back to the factory settings and then synced it with the latest backup. The restrictions are still on and it is asking for the passcode. Can someone tell me how to get that off.

The only option is to wipe the device clean and restore it to factory settings.  Hope you have a backup.
Follow the instructions in  iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.
Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.

  • How does one continue to use Mail on the early MacBook Pro, Model 1,1, that is not upgradable to Lion?  I have been running iCloud on my iPhone (OS5) and iMac (Lion) along with the MacBook Pro (OS Version 10.6.8)

How does one continue to use Mail on the early MacBook Pro, Model 1,1, that is not upgradable to Lion?  I have been running iCloud on my iPhone (OS5) and iMac (Lion) along with the MacBook Pro (OS Version 10.6.8) since November until now.  Mail will no longer download on the MacBook Pro and keeps asking for my password.

Mail should still be usable with your machine - but you'll need to update the settings to conform to the requirements of your system. Check with your ISP (like ATT, etc.) for the settings that will work with your Mail. Once you've updated this, you should be able to email like before.
For example, my ISP required that I go to Mail Preferences/Accounts and make sure the details conform to your email settings.
I have no idea of what your ISP is or what the settings might be, but this is likely the source of the problem.

  • We just got 2 iPad air today and Set up both with the same Apple ID, now I'm getting messages and FaceTime for my 13 yr old daughter.  Do I have to create a different Apple ID for her?

We just got 2 iPad air today and Set up both with the same Apple ID, now I'm getting FaceTime and messages for my 12 yr. old.  Do I have to set up a separate Apple ID  for her to avoid this?

It's a trust issue. You can set them up so you don't receive each other's messages as long as you each have your own email address.
The trust issue is the fact that either of you can change the separation at any time via Settings by checking the appropriate (inappropriate?) email address.
To be absolutely sure you can never receive each other's messages will require two Apple IDs.

You got it with that same apple id thing. You can use different apple id's, but then they will not sync. Apple does allow as many free apple id's as you want, but they are in the business to make money.

  • HT1222 After downloading this, it tells my iphone to resync, and it cant sync with the computer. it gives no information as to why, and I can't start up my iphone, it's in the same syncing state as when i first bought it.

It's what it says in the question above; after downloading the newest update from apple my Iphone 4 goes into a state where i must resync it with my computer to continue use.  While syncing, about 2/3 of the way done, it says there was an error with the sync, and all of the memory will be erased.  Without my approval, it erased the memory, and now it is in the same "must sync" state as when I first bought it, about one week ago.  I tried syncing on so far two computers, and they both failed, with the same error.  No error code or anything like that is given.
    Help please!!

Place your phone in DFU mode (search google for instructions) and restore as new.
If this doesn't work, you'll need to bring your phone into Apple.
