Reflections in Slide Show

Does anyone know how to remove those reflections that appear in the bottom of the frame in slide show mode?
Thanks.

Check out this link from way back when...seems to have worked out for a lot of people...

It takes a little elbow grease, but the directions are cookbook. Keep in mind that this probably needs to be redone with every publish.

  • Slide show reflections theme suddenly renders incorrectly

Recently I mentioned a strange appearance of a slide show I've made with the reflections theme. The mirror image at the bottom of the screen is suddenly appearing as solid instead of transparant. This only happens with a screen with one ore two pictures. With 4 pictures it shows up normally. I checked the photos and I tried using other photos, still not working. Exporting the slide show still shows this deficiency. Maybe a problem with the latest version of iPhoto 9.4.3?
Is there anyone who can reproduce this? Any solution?

As a first fix attempt Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Slide show with "reflections" under the images

Just tried iWeb to post image pages created in iPhoto. Things went quite well until I used the slide show feature in the finished page on the web. All images appear on a black background (even though I used a white background templare) and have a strip of "reflection" at the bottom. How can I remove this tacky and distracting feature? The Reflection slider and checkbox in the Graphic Inspector are grayed out and can't be used.

    Hi Will,
many thanks for your reply! But even your detailed explanation is way above my head. I'm so stupid, I couldn't even open the recommended url - any variation I tried (with my site name, album name or slide show inserted) landed me on a page of a company called theplanet.com and that was the end of it.
I'm using Macs and Apple software for their famous simplcity and user-friendliness, not to take lessons on html code. At least your response proves that others have found the reflection gimmick annoying as well. So maybe someone from Apple reads this and incorporates a "remove reflection" button in the next udate of iWeb.
    Thanksalot anyway

  • How can I move my 31K photos to a standalone drive in folders and then import them back to edit and then perhaps return them to iphoto and library to produce slide shows

I want to move my photos into folders, which reflect the contents of iphoto events , to a standalone hard drive. Subsequently I intend to return them a few at a time to edit in Elements. Once  they are edited I may return groups to iphoto to organize into slide shows. As things stand now, my iMac drive is rapidly filling  up. I do not use raw files so I want to move Jpegs and edit them.
    David

I'm with Léonie. That's a very (and unnecessarily) complicated plan you have there. As Léonie says you can just set Elements as an external editor.
    To move a Library:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • I created a slide show on work computer. Placed photos and movies in Media Browser. Want to use another computer (laptop) to give presentation. Do I need to copy media browser to laptop or are pictures and movies embedded in slide show and can go anywhere

I created a slide show on my work computer and placed many photos and movies in my work computer's Media Browser. Want to use another computer (laptop) to give the presentation and therefore change location of slide show. Do I need to copy the media browser to the laptop or once the pictures and movies are embedded in the original slide show, can I take it anywhere and not worry about the media browser?
I also want to optimize a movie for Keynote, so it's not too large a file. Please help.

Graphic, sound and video files are copied into the Keynote file, but make sure Keynote > Preferences - include sound and movies check box is ticked.
If you have added additional fonts they will need be changed to reflect what is on the destination machine.
If the other machine has a different Keynote version, ensure the same transitions and effects are available.

  • I want excellent quality slide shows to dvd

I have been using iPhoto 6 to make slide shows set to music and then send them to IDvd to burn. After this process is complete, I am disappointed with the quality of the finished product.
I am a pro photographer who shoots raw files with a Nikon D200. I edit in Lightroom (sorry, not Aperture) and convert to full size jpgs with Photoshop. These are very good files in terms of sharpness and color, etc. The jpgs range in size from 2.5MB to 5.8 MB. This is not garbage in, garbage out. I then import them into my iPhoto library and build a slide show. When finished with transitions, effects, whatever, I send my project to iDVD for the finishing touches. I have selected the best quality and fomat for 16x9 wide screen TV. The show comes out just as I designed it, music works without a hitch. To view the DVD on my cinema display or wide screen TV, etc. the sharpess and quality of the images in the show are disappointing. Looks OK (just OK) from afar, but it seems like the quality should be so much better. Granted, my standards are high and I want this to be a professional presentation. Are these the wrong products for the quality that I desire? Are My files too big? (I doubt it) How can my projects reflect the quality of the images that go into them? If these are not professional products, what products might do this better?

I've found that creating the slideshow directly in iDVD gives me the best quality image when played. However, if I play a 4:3 aspect DVD project on my widescreen it doesn't look as good. But when I create the project in the 16:9 widescreen mode, it displays quite well on the widescreen TV as it's masked properly. If I crop the photos to the 16:9 ration the widescreen display is very good. Since the standard DVD image is reduced to 640 x 480 at 72 dpi, there's not much you can do to get a lot better. If you use the Ken Burns effect in iPhoto then you do want to have the largest image size possible so the zoomed portion of the effect is not reduced. As I recall the widescreen image size is 855 480 or so.
The reason I like creating the slideshow in iDVD is that it really is a slideshow. You can move back and forth slide by slide with a click of the remote. With the movie type it's rewind or fast forward.

  • How do I save the "Slide Show" functions when off line ?

I'm working on an interative porfolio (to use off line) using IWeb. But once saved in a folder on my computer, the Slide Show functions (black background, reflection effects, sliding thumbnails, etc.) are not existing (?)
By the way, can anybody tell me about a good (and simple to use !) shareware for editing iteractive slideshows ?

  • Why Won't PreE Burn my Slide Show Project to a DVD?

I created a slide show using PE 6 and sent it to PreE 4. However, when I try to burn it to a DVD using PreE 4 it just quits on me? Then I can't even open PreE?? I really don't know what's happening?? My complete slide show is saved in PreE 4 and I can find it at  adobe\Premiere Elements\4.0\ project name. However, when I try to open it nothing happens. I thought perhaps my slide show was too big for PreE but that doesn't appear to be the problem. My saved PreE 4 slideshow is 8.29 MB and PE 6 slideshow gives a play time of 56:43 Min after creation.
A standard  DVD is at 120 minutes and 4.7 GB
Can anyone tell me what the devils happening here or at least give me some direction to solve this dilemna.
    Thanks for any help provided.

The slideshow created in Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor exists there as a creation and goes no where until you output it to something else. If your goal is a DVD-VIDEO version of your slideshow and you want to use Premiere Elements to generate the DVD-VIDEO, before Photoshop Elements 5/Premiere Elements 3, you had to output your slideshow as a file sized .wmv video and import that into Premiere Elements. The use of the .wmv limited the possibilities for further edits of the slideshow that arrived on the Premiere Elements Timeline as one whole video rather than individual photos. Further, there were those that questioned the use of the .wmv version for quality reasons. I never found that to be the case.
But, if you have the specific combinations of Photoshop Elements 5/Premiere Elements 3 OR Photoshop Elements 6/Premiere Elements 4 OR Photoshop Elements 7/Premiere Elements 7, you obtain the perk of being able to send your Photoshop Elements slideshow to Premiere Elements in a non wmv form which can be broken apart allowing for further significant edits. The keys to doing this are:
    a. Specific sets 5/3 or 6/4 or 7/7
    b. Use of the Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor Output option of “Send to Premiere Elements” which then makes available the “Break Apart Photoshop Elements Slideshow” command in Premiere Elements (right click video on Timeline, select “Break Apart Photoshop Elements Slideshow”). If you had some mismatch of Photoshop Elements Premiere Elements versions, like 6/7, the Photoshop Elements Output option of “ Send to Premiere Elements” would be available, but once the slideshow got to Premiere Elements, the “Break Apart Photoshop Elements Slideshow” would not.
Immediately after the output is completed in the Media panel you will see:
    a. Folder containing the individual photo and video assets
    b. A file representing the intact slideshow in video form
On the Timeline you will see your intact slideshow video form.
The Time Stretch Tool is used to change duration. You can use:
    a. (less precise) The Time Stretch Tool Icon above the Timeline. Click that, watch your mouse cursor turn into a vertical bar with a cross (diagonal arrow and red bar) superimposed, then click on drag end of image.
    b. (more precise). The Time Stretch feature via right clicking the image on the Timeline, selecting Time Stretch, and typing in the duration.
    c. in either case, any gaps created on the Timeline are gotten rid of by right clicking the gap and clicking on the “Delete and Close Gap” pop up.
When you go to decrease the duration or when you are changing the duration of an image at the end of the Timeline, everything will be going as you expected. HOWEVER, when it comes to increasing the duration or changing the duration of an image in the middle of the Timeline, you will need to move the images to make room for the expansion and then close the gaps.
Before I go on to some other things, I should go back to the Media panel and its contents immediately after receiving the Photoshop Elements Slideshow. You can open the folder with assets (photos & videos) in the Project Media View. If you right click one of the files, select Time Stretch, change the duration of the image, the duration of that file will be changed and be reflected if you drag that file from Project View Media area to the Timeline. BUT, this will not change the duration of that image which is already on the Timeline.
There are so many other aspects of this that I will save for another time. One of the things that we could talk about is creating slideshow and the DVD-VIDEO slideshow all within Premiere Elements and bring into play:
Premiere      Elements’ Create Slideshow feature to set image duration OR transition      duration all at one time
Changing      the Premiere Elements default duration (5 sec) via Edit      Menu/Preferences/General
Pans & Zooms with Edit Menu/Effects/Presets/Horizontal and Vertical Pans or Zooms as well as creating Pans & Zooms with keyframing.
I am probably running into the Flash Player and Premiere Pro Forum space by now. Please focus me in on your specific issues and I will continue with my what works for me comments.

  • Changing black background on slide show

does anyone know how to change the background on the iWeb slide shows so that the black background is not visible and there is no "picture reflection"? I would prefer the slide show to have the whole picture with no background.

The "Previous to iWeb '08" does not have the option to change the Slideshow background or reflections; it would be necessary to upgrade to iWeb 2.x in iLife'08.

  • When I transfer a slide show from elements to Premier Elements, many slides are rotated.

    BERLARKER
Thanks for the follow up with additional information.
Elements Organizer 12 Premiere Elements 12 Editor
Bottom line: I suspect that you have stressed out the system with too many photos oversized for the project settings. But let us explore the situation to confirm or refute that first impression.
    Details:
If you have a 44 minute slideshow and photos each with 5 second duration, then my guess-estimate would be that your slideshow has about 528 photo with pixel dimension of 3264 x 2448 (4:3) or 2448 x 3264 (3:4).
First concern, too many photos with pixel dimensions oversized for the project....you may have to resize your photos not to exceed 1000 x 750 4:3.
When you output this slideshow from the Elements Organizer 12 Slideshow Editor, you cannot use both "Edit with Premiere Elements Editor" and "Save As a File MOV (wmv):".
For now I will assume that you are using "Edit with Premiere Elements Editor".
Unless you are setting the Premiere Elements 12 Editor project preset manually, you are ending up with the wrong project preset
The Premiere Elements 12 Editor project preset is probably its default NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30 (a 16:9 project preset) instead of NTSC DV Standard (a 4:3 project preset). .
If all my assumptions are correct, then
    1. In the Elements Organizer 12, create your slideshow with your 528 photos each with pixel dimensions not to exceed 1000 x 750 (could go higher if you can do so without jeopardizing the workflow...but, no matter how high the resolution, the end product will reflect the resolution of the export format, 720 x 480).
You are going to output the slideshow using Edit with Premiere Elements Editor.
    2. Before you hit the Edit with Premiere Elements Editor choice in Elements Organizer 12 Output, open Premiere Elements 12 Editor Expert workspace, and set the project preset manually to NTSC DV Standard.
    File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings
In Change Settings, change the project preset to NTSC DV Standard
    OK out of that area.
In the new project dialog that appears, make sure that you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Settings on this Project".
    OK out of that area.
    Minimize Premiere Elements Editor.
    3. Open the Elements Organizer 12 again, and hit Edit with Premiere Elements Editor.
Premiere Elements 12 Editor will open...you will see a folder for slideshow assets and a video file for your slideshow in Project Assets...on the
Timeline you should see your slideshow in the video format. If you want to do further significant edits of the Timeline content which is now in
a whole video format, right click that Timeline content and select Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow.
Please review and consider. Perhaps do some mini test runs to define your situation further.
We will be watching for your results. If any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • How can I control the music that plays during Apple TV photo slide shows?

I don't want to make my parents listen to Breaking Benjamin music as they watch my photo slide shows on Apple TV. Need something more sedate. But if a B.B. song is in my iTunes music library, it is a candidate for random selection as background music for my slide shows. How do I control what music plays during Apple TV photo slide shows?

What I find is really silly, is the fact the music video's are listed under that artists albums in the Music menu. And when you go into the video 'album' (called 'Unknown' unless you change it) there is an option to shuffle the tracks. Clicking this just results in an error message. So, they should either remove that option if it is a video album, or, better yet, GET IT TO WORK. So silly of them to omit this.
    I have submitted feedback.

  • A How To: Create a Widescreen High Definition Slide Show from the Organizer

[EDIT] I just tried another one and, weirdly, that produced an output with black bars around all four sides! So maybe this 'how to' is not 100%.  I have considered deleting the post altogether but, as it does still produce a superior slideshow quality file than the standard ones provided with Elements,  I've decided to leave it with this edit added at the top for additional info.[END_EDIT]
In answering a question in another forum I found a nice quick way to create proper widescreen high definition slide shows from just the Elements Organizer. Apologies if this is 'old news' to readers, but I've not seen this described elsewhere so I thought I'd share it.
The Organizer Slide Show creator, if not wanting to edit in PRE, provides a small set of Windows Media Player profiles to create .wmv files. But the best of these goes only to 1024x768 (a 4:3 monitor resolution setting). I've noticed, but never paid much attention to, that at the bottom of the Slide Size box there is a 'Browse for more' option that lets you search for additional Windows Media Encoder profiles. Investigation showed me that I can download the Windows Media Encoder software from Microsoft and create my own profiles. But even further investigation showed  me that someone had already done this! I've tested their full HD profile and it works just fine (1920x1080).
So if you are just after a straightforward slide show (i.e. not needing PRE features) but want it displayed on your Full HD TV set here is what you do:
Download the HD Profiles from http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/236895-hd-profiles-for-windows-movie-maker/. There's also a couple of useful SD sizes there as well. Save them somewhere you can easily find them.
Create your slide show in the Organizer. Obviously use appropriately sized images for HD. There's little point outputting an HD wmv file using low resolution and/or 4:3 aspect ratio images.
Save and Output your slide show.
In the output dialog ('Save As a File') scroll down to the bottom of Slide Size and select 'Browse for more ...'.
Browse to the file you downloaded in step 1 and click Open.
Click OK and your Widescreen HD .wmv file is prepared.
Here's a Gspot analysis of my test output file. As you can see it is an HD file with a 16:9, square pixel, aspect ratio.
    Ta Da!

You did not mention a specific Premiere Elements Elements Organizer combo for this, so for now I will address this from the version 11, not Windows Movie Maker, perspective if I need to get version specific.
    .prx
The Browse for More is a well known route and does offer at least one Adobe profile for 1280 x 720 16:9. I am not sure where you came up with the lesser resolution,1024 x 768 that you mentioned. The Windows Media profiles have existed for several versions of Elements Organizer. Those Adobe ones that you do not see under Output Save As A File Movie (.wmv), can be found in the Windows 7 or 8 64 bit path
    Local Disc C
    Profile Files (x86)
    Adobe
    Elements 11 Organizer
    Assets
    Locale
    en_US
    tv_profiles
in the tv_profiles Folder are included the .prx files
    .....10. 640 x 480 Enhanced Definitions
    .....12. 852 x 480 Widescreen Enhanced Definition
    .....14 1280 x 720 Widescreen High Definition
A homemade 1920 x 1080 16:9 30 frames per second .prx has long been sought but not that easily produced by many using with the Windows Media Encoder Editor. Apparently you have found one online, and it does get accepted into the Premiere Elements 11 Browse for More choices. And, if you do a gspot readout for the wmv output from Elements Organizer 11, it will display all the "right" properties that you hoped for and that are shown in your screenshot.
The bottom line, why bother with the wmv slideshow? If you take your original photos and size them for 1920 x 1080 16:9, use them in the Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor (Crops used in preferences), use the Edit with Premiere Elements Editor command, what you get in Premiere Elements 11 is full and good in all regard. Have you tried it?
I can see your interest if this is HD going to HD (AVCHD on DVD or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc, but I do not see this for an Elements Organizer Slideshow that is going to DVD-VIDEO widescreen.
    More later.

  • Final cut pro crashing with slide show photos

I am working with a large slide show - a few movie clips, but mostly still images from Aperture.  The photos were shot wtih a Nikon D300 in Raw, not that I think that matters much at all.
Becasue this is a slide show I am working wth short durations for the images - usually 3:14.  Most of the transitions are simply cross dissolve, but some are more complex.
I am getting again and again crashes - or the spinning color circle going to oblivion and requiring a Force Quit.
Either can happen when adding new material, moving arround existing material, or trying to reset durations, add text, different transitions, or working wth the Ken Burns options.  Sometimes it also happens when resizing the time line zoom level.   This marvelous feature seems the most consistent way of trashing the application so I tend to leave it alone.
I may be able to work for an hour or only a few minutes.  Sometimes deleting and re-adding an image seems to help, but that may not be true - most of the time it's just simply random.   The system has 14 Gig Ram and I am using iCleanMemory now to see how much is in play.  A crash / freeze may occur with a lot or a little - usually looks like I have about 8.9 Gig in play for normal use of Final Cut and no clear change when it crashes / freezes.
Clearly the images are compatible - they are from Aperture and there is no consistency in always the same image being the issue.
Below is the first part of the error report dump.
Hoping someone has an idea for how to overcome this.
    Appreciate the thoughts.
    Cheers -

Well, I filmed many of those videos in HDV (the 2x2 wall, the 5x5 wall and some of the 10x10 wall). Plus I converted the whole project to HDV because it is the way I displayed it (thru camera to Plasma TV's) and I wanted the HD space to work with and since part of my videos were HDV I figured that would be best.
Of course the DV footage is not so good quality, but when made very small for that big screen it looks fine I think. Yeah the AIC codec is great but it takes 4 times as much room, but you think that would work better hey?
I just don't want Final Cut crashing like that. I don't care if it can't play it back in real time or it takes 10 seconds to display 1 frame.
I have not used motion....would it work for what I did. Remember I used over 100 discreet video streams I had. I don't want to replicate the same layer...you get the drift.
Did you see it in youtubes HD? What did you think of the quality?
