Reformatting a G4+applications are not launching!!!!! Need help am new!

Hi everyone, i really hope you can help. I am new to Apple and IT really and i am hoping you guys can work your magic and help me. I too am trying to reboot some life into my brother's old G4 ibook 10.3.9 which is roughly 4 years old maybe a bit more. I was wondering is there anyway way i can get rid of everything on this mac and vamp it up so i can reinstall 10.5.5 disks onto it?
If not then i have the problem of being able to download the latest software but it does not allow me to launch them.Is it because the laptop is old? At the moment i am having to use internet explorer to launch any sort of internet pages but then they either look distorted or the page does not load and everything freezes....
Please HELP!

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It will be helpful to us to know which iBook G4 you have (processor speed will help). Also tell us how much there is installed and how much available capacity there is on the HDD.

If there is nothing on the computer you need to save/backup, you can completely reformat and erase the HDD, then install Leopard if your computer meets the technical specifications for Leopard. I would recommend a minimum of 1 GB of RAM. You may also need to consider installing a new HDD, but we can wait and see how that works.

IE is no longer supported for OS X. You should consider using either Firefox or Camino.
Formatting, Partitioning Erasing a Hard Disk Drive
Warning! This procedure will destroy all data on your Hard Disk Drive. Be sure you have an up-to-date, tested backup of at least your Users folder and any third party applications you do not want to re-install before attempting this procedure.
• With computer shut down insert install disk in optical drive.
• Hit Power button and immediately after chime hold down the "C" key.
• Select language
• Go to the Utilities menu (Tiger) Installer menu (Panther & earlier) and launch Disk Utility.
• Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
• Select Partition tab in main panel. (You are about to create a single partition volume.)
• Click on Options button
• Select Apple Partition Map (PPC Macs) or GUID Partition Table (Intel Macs)
• Click OK
• Select number of partition in pull-down menu above Volume diagram.
(Note 1: One partition is normally preferable for an internal HDD.)
• Type in name in Name field (usually Macintosh HD)
• Select Volume Format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
• Click Partition button at bottom of panel.
• Select Erase tab
• Select the sub-volume (indented) under Manufacturer ID (usually Macintosh HD).
• Check to be sure your Volume Name and Volume Format are correct.
• Click Erase button
• Quit Disk Utility.
Open installer and begin installation process.
Installation Process
• With computer shut down insert install disk in optical drive.
• Hit Power button and immediately after chime hold down the "C" key.
• Select language
• Open Installer and begin installation.
• Select installation option
• Choose to Customize and deselect Foreign Language Translations and Additional Printer drivers.
Optional: Check box to install X11 (Tiger and later) BSD Subsystems (Panther & earlier).
• Proceed with installation.
• After installation computer will restart for setup.
• After setup, reboot computer.
• Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
• Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
• Select First Aid in main panel.
• Click Repair Disk Permissions.
• Connect to Internet.
• Download and install Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update (Leopard) or
Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo update (PPC) (Tiger) or
10.3.9 Combo Update (Panther)
Computer will restart.
• Repair Disk Permissions as previously.
• Go to Apple Menu > Software Update.
• Install all updates.
Computer may restart after updates.
• Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
• Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
• Select First Aid in main panel.
• Click Repair Disk Permissions.

Error message iTunes Application Support not downloading need help!!!

Tried upgrading to iTunes 9.2 to get the OS4 update for my ipod touch and when i install it everything downloads normally except Application Support it tries to install then shows this message:

My iPhone 5 was stolen, and i just recieved my new iPhone 5c in the mail. i turned it on and went through the set up instructions assuming it would lead me to the acivation process but it did not. I now have a phone that works with everything but calls and texts. I looked up online and it said you can activate it through itunes, i downloaded itunes onto my computer and plugged my phone in to it using the USB port and still nothing. will someone please help!

Take the phone into your nearest Verizon store. They will activate it for you. If you really cant do that, call Verizon Customer Service back, explain you've been unable to activate it and have them walk you through it.

The ID Program folder will be relevant to your OS...
I took a shot and right clicked on my Scripts Samples, choose reveal in Explorer and opened up the ID Program folder.
As shown, there is a Fonts folder.
Drag/Copy/Paste fonts to this folder.

Updated on 20th Jan and now applications do not launch!!!! Help please...?

OK folks- I have been reliably informed that the update last week which included iTunes and QT updates is a bit of a stinker.
Sure enough- iTunes receipts confuse the Disk Utility and now I cannot verify unless I move the older ones out of the folder.
And a lot of my applications just plain refuse to launch. They bounce in the dock and then just do nothing. No message- no nothing!
Sadly I really really need to access JAlbums as a matter of serious urgency: I have a slide show to present in less than 12 hours and I still have to make it!
Reading through threads here I note that folk are warning to NOT update but hey- it is too late for me. And others are suggesting going back down a version of QT to correct this.
Can someone tell me how to downgrade the QT version or how to uninstall the recent upgrade without resorting to reformatting as I cannot get hold of my disks to do this until it is too late (UK time is now 22:30 and they are at work...)?

Well it DID fix the problem with JAlbum.
So note to all who come after me- QT is definately the problem if previously working applications will not launch.
Downgrade by reinstalling an earlier version as I did (and I have not yet bothered going back up to 7.0.3 which, I assume, I had before) and make life easier for yourself.
That is- if like me- you are on OS10.3.9!

I have recently updated my iTunes to the latest version in order to sync music onto my new ipod shuffle. However after a successful installation the application does not launch or open? There are no error messages. The application is just unresponsive.
I have already checked the compatibility with Safari, my operating system and checked my firewall is not blocking it - all is fine.
Does anyone have any other resolutions?

Now all CS4 applications will not launch

I have been working with cS4 for sometime now. I worked in dreamweaver last night and tried to open a file but it took forever so I tried to force quit it. Still it was not responding so I shut my computer down and waited for 30 minutes. I tried to open it again but after i click the icon it jumps on the dock for a few seconds and goes away. Now All my other CS4 applications will not launch either. I tried to delete preferences but nothing so I uninstalled it. I just installed a fresh CS4 copy but it still will not work/launch. Thank you. I am using mac OS 10.5 Leopard. Never had a problem with any CS4 before. All my other applications work well only Adobe CS4 will not

Ok, that's plenty of space.
Check the S.M.A.R.T. status on your HD: Boot from install disc (insert disc > restart > immediately hold down the c key and keep holding it until you see “Preparing Installation”) > at first screen select the language and click Continue > click on the Utilities Menu in the menu bar > select Disk Utility > select your HD in the panel on the left side (the name of the HD’s manufacturer and the model number, usually the top item in the list) > look at the bottom of the main window next to S.M.A.R.T. status and see if it says “Verified” (good) or something more ominous like “Failing.”
If S.M.A.R.T. status is "Verified," run Repair Disk > click Repair Disk at bottom of main window. Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says “appears ok” twice in a row. If that doesn’t happen, you may need a stronger utility (such as DriveGenius, TechToolPro, DiskWarrior) or if the directory is damaged beyond repair, you may need to reinstall the OS, or you may have a damaged HD which will need to be replaced (repair utilities can only repair the directory structure, not the HD itself). When this is finished, quit Disk Utility, quit the installer, and restart. Once booted normally, go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions.

whever i try to access websites, most of them work but facebook, youtube, my school email, sometimes even google, and alot other websites wont work for me and will tell me i need to update the lastest Flash Player. but when i try to download it, it says 'You can’t open the application “setup.exe” because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OS X.' what does that even mean??    Download it first. Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
    Follow the prompts and install it.
    Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
2. Allow Plug-ins
    Safari > Preferences > Security
    Internet Plug-ins > "Allow plug-ins"

An .exe application is compiled for Windows. It will not run on a different OS. If you need to run this program, then you will have to install Windows on your Mac. Either as a separate bootable partition, or running in a virtual machine, such as Parallels or VMWare.

You chose a Windows program, what else can you do.
If you had a Windows machine and the DVD required a Mac you wouldn't be able to run it at all (Winboxes can't run OSX) so at least the Mac gives you the option.

Your Office 2011, though a Microsoft product, is designed to work with OSX the Mac operating system. Any program/application ending .exe is an executable program for Windows. It will only work in Windows and is not part of or openable with Microsoft Office.
the application you want to open needs Windows - you have a couple of alternatives:
Open it on a Windows PC
Install a valid version of Windows via Bootcamp (or Parallels or VM Fusion) which will allow you to boot your Mac into Windows where it will function like a Windows PC and you can use it to run the application.
See if the manufacturers of MFI_Simulator have a Mac version available.
Please note that if you follow the second option, then you will need to purchase a copy of Windows (if you do not have one already). BootCamp is free (part of OSX) but Parallels and VM Fusion cost too. I see quite a few posts from people who buy Parallels and try to run the program under Parallels - this doesn't work - you need to install Windows as well.

App-V 5.0 standalone, application executable not launching

I have sequenced Mozilla firefox using App-v 5.0 sequencer. When I publish the application in standalone mode the application and launch he shortcut the application does not launch. When i check the process i can see that the application process , in this
case 'firefox', has launched but the shortcut to the application does launch in GUI.
I did some test's on the issue and below are the results.
1) If I copy the Root file of my application and paste them some place on the desktop the executable starts to launch.
2) I opened up the bubble and saw that there is a small cross mark on the application executable, which means as per my knowledge that the application exe has not streamed , but I am using the client in standalone mode and not publishing the app from server
so the exe should not have a streaming issue.
3) I tried capturing the application in both VFS and MNT mode but it does not help.
Any suggestions what I can try or what could be the issue here.

if you are running in standalone mode... what is the source of your package. The cross means indeed that the package is not 100% mounted, so:
Add-AppvClientPackage packagae.appv | Publish-AppvClientPackage | Mount-AppvClientPackage
and try again.

Navigate to ‘Oracle Diagnostics Tool’ responsibility  go to ‘Advanced’ tab, and click on the Application LOV. The LOV does not have the custom defined applications such as ‘Custom Oracle Receivables’ and ‘Custom Oracle Payables’.
Already applied Patch 7642559. We are in 11i.AD.I.6
Can somebody guide me what need to be done here.

Kumar.Did you follow all the steps under "How do I use my custom application/responsibility?" section in (E-Business Suite Diagnostic Tools FAQ and Troubleshooting Guide for Release 11i and R12 [ID 235307.1])?
Have you tried to bounce Apache and see if this helps?
