Refresh Display vs Reload Server Metadata

Hi Gurus,
can any one let me know what is the significance of having "Refresh Display" and "Reload Server Metadata" in answers selection pain. For example if i have changed the name of column in the symantic layer. Now if i hit "Reload Server Metadata" only then the new name is getting reflected, i m unable to get for what reason or purpose "Refresh Display" is there. Reload Server Metadata itself refreshes the selection pane and clicking on "Refresh Display" the new name is not getting reflected.
So Please let me know the significance of "Refresh Display" link.
Thanks,
Sreekanth.

Hi Daan,
i am aware of the bookshelf definition, what i wanted to know was based on a scenario.
Suppose i changed a join in the RPD in online mode, to reflect the changes in answers, will i have to hit "Refresh Display" or "Reload Server Metadata"?
Suppose i changed the name of the presentation column in RPD in online mode, to reflect the changes in answers, will i have to hit "Refresh Display" or "Reload Server Metadata"
for this scenario the book shelf says "To refresh the *information* for saved requests, filters, briefing books, and dashboard *content*, click the Refresh Display link at the bottom of the selection pane" does this mean what ever i renamed after clicking "Refresh Display" they will get changed in the saved requests? I tried it but it is not changing
i want to know what INFORMATION as told in book shelf in saved requests / filters / briefing books will get changed after hitting "Refresh Display"
Thanks,
Sreekanth.

  • Force obiee Reload Server Metadata when every users login

hi, how to force obiee Reload Server Metadata when every users login?
    because I use this method
    [http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/10/29/oracle-bi-ee-101332-presentation-layer-translation/]
    to do the translation.
but I found that if the server metadata is not reloaded. the presentation column names keeps previous one (language).

Not sure about what authentication and web services EBS or Siebel have, but here is what we are doing at the State of Minnesota for PeopleSoft and OBIEE single-signon (no LDAP or SSO server required).
Two web services in PeopleSoft are used for user authentication. One web service simply requires valid PeopleSoft username & password in web service request SOAP header. Second web services determines the username of the PeopleSoft PS_TOKEN cookie (cookie is hashed string which is unique to user’s current PeopleSoft browser session).
BI Presentation Server in configured for single signon to pass PS_TOKEN cookie to BI Server as :USER variable.
Users can also connect directly to BI Server using JDBC or ODBC by providing valid PeopleSoft username & password. JDBC/ODBC tool which sends PeopleSoft credentials to BI Server :USER and :PASSWORD variables.
BI Server initialization blocks execute PL/SQL functions which invoke web services using either the PS_TOKEN cookie from :USER or the PeopleSoft username & password from :USER and :PASSWORD.
A user can login in directly to BI Answers/Dashboards by including a valid PeopleSoft username & password in the nqUser & nqPassword parameters of the Analytics URL. This requires PeopleSoft credentials in URL which poses a security risk. Separate Presentation Server without single signon configuration could be used for direct access.

  • Outlook 2013: Your Automatic Reply Settings Cannot Be Displayed Because The Server Is Unavailable

When I configure the Outlook profile manually then receive warning "Your Automatic Reply Settings Cannot Be Displayed Because The Server Is Unavailable" when clicking "Automatic Replies (Out of Office)".
However if I use Autodiscover to configure the Outlook profile the above does not occur and "Automatic Replies (Out of Office)" works fine.
    Client: Outlook 2013 Click-to-Run version 15.0.4551.1011 on Windows 7 Pro SP1.
    Server: Exchange 2007 SP3 on Windows SBS 2008 SP2.

    Hi,
First of all, please make sure you have installed this Outlook 2013 hotfix package (December 10, 2013):
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2825652/en-us
    It may fix the issue.
If the hotfix doesn't help, please note, this problem can occur after your primary SMTP address changes. The problem occurs because your previous primary SMTP address is cached in the Windows registry under your Outlook profile and this information does
not get refreshed for 24-48 hours after the SMTP address change.
So please make sure you have configured smtp address correctly, or, we can find some workarounds from the link below:

  • Outlook 2010 "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable" error

    Hi,
We recently introduced a Exchange 2010 server into our Exchange 2003 enviroment but had to stop migrating users over to it after it became appartent that users using Outlook 2010 could not switch on their Out Of Office, getting an "Your automatic reply settings
cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable" error. However users on the new 2010 can set OOF if they use OWA or Outlook 2003!
Running the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration shows no errors with the Log tab showing Autodiscover succeeded and the Results tab showing all the correct values, including a OOF URL of
/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml">https://<servername>/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml into IE gives a XML file with a 600 error code.
I have looked at loads of 'solutions' on the Internet but cannot get this working, anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you,

  • Out of Office error: 'Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.'

    Hi,
This is my first post in the forums. Please forgive me if it's in the wrong category or if it's not posted correctly in any way.
I'll try and give you below as much information about the problem we have here as I can.
    What we have:
    - an on-premises Windows 2012 Standard server that is the PDC, DNS and DHCP server;
    - a second Windows 2012 Standard server with the sole purpose of hosting our Exchange 2013 CU7 server;
    - Windows 7 PCs with Office Home and Business 2010 v.14.0.7143.5000 (32-bit);
    - Outlook 2010 connects through Outlook Anywhere (mail.ourdomain.com).
    The problem:
If trying to set up Out of Office through Outlook on the client PCs, we'd get an error message: 'Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.' Interestingly, it does work normally for some users.
It works fine for all users if done through OWA.
    Tests performed:
User 1 on PC1 has the problem. User 2 on PC2 doesn't have the problem. Both users are members of the same security groups.
    - setting up User 2 on PC 1: the problem exists;
    - setting up User 1 on PC 2: the problem exists;
    - setting up a second Outlook profile on PC2 within User 2's domain account (the one that works), for the same User 2: the problem still exists!
I haven't been able to set up an Outlook account that works since this issue was discovered, although there are existing Outlook accounts that do not have the issue.
Let me also point out we have another issue we are working on and which may or may not be related: the Autodiscover function in Outlook doesn't work. Test E-mail AutoConfiguration results in 'Autoconfiguration was unable to determine your settings!'.
I can see postings in the Internet of other people having the same problem with OoO, but couldn't see a solution that fits my case: some existing accounts in Outlook are fine, other are not and newly created profiles of aforementioned working accounts do not
work. The majority of the articles/threads I read suggest recreating the Virtual Directories in Exchange, but we did that just a month ago (when troubleshooting the Autodiscover problem) and besides if the problem is in the Virtual Directories, I would expect
    it to affect all accounts.
Any help in resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need other details.
Apologies if the posting is not in the right place or not done properly - I'm still learning.

The IIS log files on the CAS might tell you something. Depending on how your proxy server handles NAT the IP address of your connection might be from the proxy server instead of your client.
In any case, a tool like Fiddler (http://www.telerik.com/fiddler) can be extremely helpful in working on problems like this because it can decode the SSL traffic on the client and you can see what's being sent
    and what's being received.
Another thing to check (although it's unlikely to be your case) is whether or not your browser (when you try connecting to the autodiscover URL) thinks it's in the "Internet" zone. the "Local intranet", or at a "Trusted" site.
The domain names you use on machines on your LAN should be excluded from being proxyed. Anything with "." in the name will be set, unless excluded, to the proxy server.
Is the time correct on the client machine? Is it more than 5 minutes different to the Exchange machines and domain controllers? That'd be something that would cause Kerberos to fail.
A certificate can be a problem if its expired or if it doesn't have the correct names. But I wouldn't worry about the uglog.com domain just yet. Until you get the Autodiscover working with the SCP you have bigger problems.
If you've never used a WPAD file then don't worry about it. It's very useful if you have a complex network and you want to manage how browsers connect to servers. For example, if you have multiple proxy servers the each manage a different set of names, an/or
if some names should bypass proxy servers entirely and just connect directly. If run a strictly Microsoft network with only Microsoft product that you can manage with GPOs (and you can enforce those GPOs on every machine -- even the BYOD ones) you probably
    don't need a WPAD.

  • Exchange 2007 / Outlook 2013 "Your Automatic Reply Settings Cannot Be Displayed Because The Server Is Unavailable"

One of our users is having problems setting replies from Outlook on his local PC.  This is an SBS 2008 Server with Exchange 2007.  The client PC is running Windows 8 with Outlook 2013.  This issue doesn't seem to affect other users but this
is the only client with Outlook 2013.
When trying to set an automatic reply from within Outlook 2013 we get the "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable".  Outlook seems to be connecting and working fine so connection to the server does
    exist.
Trying this same operation from owa works without issue.  Please let me know what we need to do to find a solution.
    Thanks so much!

    Problem:
IMAP downloads inbox don't work after November patches.
If you install a fresh OS and O2K13 unpatched ,the IMAP works fine.
Fully patched O2K10 works fine too.
It worked for my customer until November patch Tuesday broke the IMAP sync.
    Consultant opened case.
    Response from Microsoft:
This is with regards to the issue faced by you due to regression         caused by November security update. This is further to inform         you
that fix is out and below is the download links for 32 bit         and 64 bit of the office suites. You need to apply all 3 hotfix.         The crash issue and IMAP issue would get resolved
immediately         while the issue related to Free / Busy and OOF not getting set         would take 24-36 hours to start working once the patch is
    applied.

Yes. You can change the format of the date by editing the JavaScript variable

. The variable is located in the

  • How to display all value of metadata from nodes collection model in content presenter template

    Hi All,
first of all the new look of OTN is great.
coming to problem i am facing (i dont know whr to ask here or in portal forum).
i am creating a content presenter template to display list of items.
now as per requirement i need to create a drop down to filter the list.
now while check- in a file author would choose a value in one metadata field lets say xCategory(which is a single select list).
i have to display similar category list on portal to allow user to filter list.
i could hv used view of xCategory but problem is files are targeted to role using ACL. so u see i cant display all category to all users.
also customer wants this whole thing to be Dynamic i.e. they can add value of xCategory later that to could be only for specific role (on portal it should be role specific , author can see whole list not a problem there).
so what i think is if content is given as search result so the category. so now if i can get the all xCategory metedata from 'nodes' collection model in template i can create drop down with out having any additional bean.
    somthing like this
#{nodes.xCategory} (but this one is not correct).
    please suggest me any solution.
    thanks

    Hi,
you can do all of what you said with JSF. ADF Faces provides drag and drop functionality (have a look at the Web Developer Guide) that allow you to move nodes within a tree. The drag and drop framework sends an event notification to the server with a reference to the changed node. You can also have context menus on a tree node to help users creating, deleting and editing a tree nodes. JavaScript isn't required at all, even if you wanted to drag and drop a row in a table on top of a tree node to create a new tree node.
I just finished a book project in which we explained this usecase. As soon as I find the time, I'll follow up with a blog entry on this as it seems to be a common requirement. However, as mentioned, the web developer guide on OTN explains drag and drop in ADF Faces pretty well.
However, if you choose the "Search" link above, choose JDeveloper and ADF as the product to search for and type drag and drop as the search string, then you get lots of code sample posted in the past to this forum

  • What is the best method to refresh display content (possibly push refresh)?

We are using Coldfusion 9.0, and our issue is simple.  We were asked to make a few display screens to put up a schedule of events.  So we created a quick backend HTML publisher and made the client refresh every 30 seconds using meta refresh that displays the screen that is published.  Works wonderful.  A change is made, the screens update quickly in 30 seconds or less.
Over the weekend we had an update push out to the server that openend up a larger issue.  The update shut down the webserver temporarily and that caused the display to go to the standard site cannot be reached (diagnose connection, etc).  At that point the refresh is killed, the display screens are dead in the water until someone hits f-5.  That made us think that everytime we have anykind of blip, the screens will have to be touched.  This is a small project, we wanted something simple and we got it.  I'm concerned now we just created a techsupport monitoring situation unintentionally.
So that brings me to the real question.  What is the best practice to do this?  After doing a google search there seems to be all kinds of directions to go in.  I don't want a complex solution because the decision to not outsource was based on how quick of a project this was.  I am hoping to get some guidance on how to make a simple push of HTML to a screen in a Coldfusion environment.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

If that was implied, I did not mean for that to be.  The sentence before explains that you are at the diagnose internet connection screen.  At that point, refresh no longer occurs, the content is not even on the screen to be cached.  Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Ah, I see. Sounds to me like something for websockets. ColdFusion 10 implements websockets. Earlier versions of ColdFusion may use Nathan Mische's websocket gateway.

  • FB4 Implicit Paging: Any way to force current page  to refresh its values from server?

I have a datagrid that I am using the new Flash Builder 4 implicit paging feature on.  Currently if a user clicks a grid item and modifies its values in a popup i want to force the current page of the datagrid to retrieve those values from my server again.
Here is the scenario I want to reslove:
Say I have a 1000 records to be shown in the grid but I have utilized implicit paging and only show 100 records at a time.  Say the user has scrolled down and they are now seeing the page containing records 300-399.  If the user changes a value concerning one of the records in 300-399 I want that "page" to be refreshed from the server side data.
Now i have tested updating the data directly in the grid but have run into an issue.  Say I change a value displayed in the grid on the client side, now if I get data from the server again it will only reflect what i changed earlier and not what is actually coming from the server.

Well i figured out how to refresh the grid with:
    service.getDataManager(service.DATA_MANAGER_FUNCTION).refresh();
Anyone know how to just refresh only one page out of a all the implicit pages?
