How do you try to start the repair dialogue? By starting Aperture or by opening the Library?
If you not already have tried it with directly opening the library:
reveal your Aperture Library in the Finder
Whilst holding down Command(⌘)- option (⌥) double click on the Aperture Library.
Select "repair library" from the dialogue.
What about Frank Caggiano's questions above?
It would be really helpful to know, how many libraries you have, and if this problem is restricted to one of them.

  • Refreshing Library

Ok, I bet that this is answered somewhere else in this forum, however, I find it infinately easier to just re-ask and be yelled at and sent a link to read than to have to search this near archive for the answer. My home computer has Windows XP Pro and multiple users all of which have access to iTunes. We all share a common library file on a second hard drive. When my brother updates his podcasts (we have some of the same ones) I also have to reupdate and redownload the new podcasts. Shouldn't I simply be able to update my library? The thing is, I can't find an update or refresh library option anywhere. So all my question boils down to is how do I/can I update or refresh my library?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Among the scripts written by Otto42 there is one for updating the library which I've used to great effect.

  • Refreshing Library to show newly added images

Have Lightroom 3 in XP Pro.
I have edited several images in photoshop and it seems like they come back to LR with the word edit in their file name.  Some show and some dont.  I have also added 4 new files to the windows folder outside of LightRoom.
Question:  How can I Re-scan or Refresh my library view to pick up the newly created images and the ones I recently added?
Several images I saved as Tif Files.  Wonder if that might also be an additional issue for some of the images...the others are PSD.

Didnt notice Syncronize in the pulldown menus...but right clicking is perfect too.

  • Refreshing Library when folders have been moved

I have to admit im new to iTunes, and so far im finding it good, apart from one major thing:
I have my library on an external drive because of its size, and ideally would like to be able to click and drag the albums i want to listen to at that time into my internal hard drive, and have only these albums show in my library. But i cant find any way to 'refresh' the library so that it removes the tracks that are no longer in the iTunes folder. All it does is show the exclamation mark and tell me it cant locate the song which is driving me mad! Is there anyway i can update the library on a regular basis to only show the tracks i have in the iTunes folder at present, not every song it has ever played? Thanks for your help and apologies if this is a really stupid question!!

I'm eagerly awaiting an answer to this question as well. So is the bottom line, there is no "refresh" button in iTunes to force it to update the library to reflect folder name changes, deleted files, etc.?
I've recently inherited a messy iTunes library with multiple copies of each song, quite an eyesore to see, and a pain to navigate even with sorting and filters selected. It's easier for me to delete duplicate files using Windows Explorer, but noticed that iTunes doesn't reflect the changes. There's no way to force a refresh, eh?

  • Refreshing Library Contents and Thumbnails

After importing RAW photos into iPhoto, I made some changes and deletions in Adobe Photoshop CS2's Camera RAW program. These changes did not show up in the iPhoto library even though the photos are no longer in either the Originals or Modified folder.
Can anyone help me to refresh my library or is there a better way to manage my files than this if I am going to be doing all of my edits in Photoshop?
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Nathan

    Nathan:
Do you have PS setup to be the editor of choice in iPhoto's preferences? Where are you saving the new raw file? It will have to be saved to the desktop and imported as a new file.
If you set the preferences not to use the RAW then the jpg version of the original RAW file is opened and that will be edited and saved. iPhoto will then recognize the edit in the thumbnail and then modified version which will be a jpg. Any other way will require you to save the edit to the desktop and import as a new file. Some types of RAW edits are saved in an XMP file and iPhoto doesn't read them.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Refresh Library? Albums Not Playing.

I did an upgrade to a MacBook Pro and did the Migrate from my old Mac. All my music is on an external drive.
When I open iTunes all of my music shows up but some of it won't play, whereas some of it will. When I click on the track nothing plays. It seems to be completely album based (in other words either an album plays or it doesn't).
My computer is authorized, as this problem is also with ripped CDs as well as iTunes Music Store stuff.
If I delete that single album and then drag that album back over to iTunes from my external music library then everything works.
I've got hundreds of albums and would rather not do it manually for all the non-working ones. Is there a way to refresh the library some how, or what's the simple solution?

That is wacky. So, exactly what happens when you try to Get Info on one of those tracks, or when you try to play it? Does iTunes produce an exclamation point and tell you it could not find the original file? I'm not familiar with a situation like yours where iTunes thinks it knows where the file is but it's got the wrong kind of file. Kind of like a goat adopting a duck, or something.
And where are the "correct" song files? Does the iTunes library have the wrong file location information but the song files are where they should be, or are the actual files in an unexpected place, or both?
Unfortunately, even if you can answer those questions, I would know of no way to quickly relink the correct music files, outside of starting over, as you suggested.

  • Freezing on "Refresh Library"?

After updating my music library on my computer and transferring the new stuff to my phone (about 100 songs) my N97 is freezing whenever I tell it to update my music library... After having to remove the battery to turn the thing off, I turn it back on and it reports NO songs in the library, and freezes again whenever I try to refresh the library.  Help!

Overnight... about 8~9 hours.  After syncing, I plugged it into my wall charger, started the library refresh, and went to sleep.  When I woke up, it was frozen with the Music Player open and the little "refreshing" pop-up at 0 files displayed.

  • Refresh library without duplicates

I would like to know how to get itune to update its library with songs that have been added to my computer without making duplicates of songs that it already has

Using iTunes go to the add file to library or add folder to library options from main menu. Tell iTUnes which files or folders to add to library.
The selected files or folder contents will be added to iTunes and depending on settings the files will be copied into the iTunes music folder.

    Hi Synv
I've had the same problem with my N85 after upgrading it to the latest firmware v30.019, the Refresh Library function is missing. Went hunting on the web and found the following, worked for me. Have yet to add music to see how it refreshes but it did clear down the original music list. Will try adding music via the Nokia Music Application to see if that will do a proper refresh... in the meantim, hope this helps anyone who needs to manually sort their music player listings.

  • 5800 Comes With Music - library not refreshing!!

Hi everyone, I recently got a 5800 Comes With Music phone and registered the phone within the Music Store.  I don't have a PC I can use so I wanted to use the phone to download music.  I managed to download a couple of tracks and they were stored in my music library when I chose the 'Refresh Library' option.  However, the next batch of songs I downloaded show as complete in the 'My Downloads' section but when I go into my music library and try to refresh it, it just says '0 Files Added'.  Why is this?  I'm not doing anything different to what I did the first time, yet whatever I try, I can't add the latest downloads to the library.  It's driving me mad!!  Has anyone had the same problem?  Am I missing a step - I'm literally selecting download, waiting for it to complete then going to the library and choosing refresh.
    Thanks!

Hey man, yh i'm afraid i'm having the same sort of problem as you.
I've bought and downloaded new songs off of the internet and have tried to put them onto my phone with little success.
Originally I got all but 1 song off the album into my library, through bluetooth, but when i came to play them later in the day (even though they were working earlier) they couldn't find the files and therefore were useless.
I tried, when I got home, to put them on later through the applications you download through your PC (like Nokia Suite and Nokia Music) and seemed to get them on fine but when I looked for them in my library they weren't there.
It seems like they are happy for you to put it on to your phone so that you can find the file in File Manager but won't let you put it in your library.
Sorry I couldn't give you any help but I thought it would be a good idea to put my problem up on here as well.
    Good Luck mate

  • E75 : Music Library Not refreshing

    Hey  guys ..
I recently added a bunch of  songs to my phone's 8gb memory card ....and  for  some  weird reason ...I cant get my music player to refresh its own library and  add the songs to the list. all its says when i select the  "refresh library" option is - "Refreshing 0 file(s) added"  and  it  keeps trying  to  search(it went  on like this  for  6 hours) .. but  doesnt find a  thing
the songs are showing under menu>gallery>songs .(So i know they are on the phone)
HELP!!! as things stand i cant use my music player... coz it isnt showing a  single song
    Thanks

I would suggest a factory reset (*#7780#) and try again.
If that doesn't help, update the firmware in your phone after backing up the phone memory.
