Refresh Metadata in Aperture from Master

Guys,
I use gpsPhoto.pl to geotag my photos. The script works directly on the NEF.
Unfortunately, Aperture doesn't seem to recognise changes on the Metadata in the Master. So, what do I have to do to make Aperture acquainted with these Tags?
And no, I would not like to import the NEFs again...

I don't think Aperture expects you to modify the NEF files from under it -- I'd imagine it reads it and stores the EXIF info in its database.
You should at least try importing one of the images again to see what happens.

Aperture 3: GPS data gets lost after 'Update from Master'

My library contains photos in JPEG format that I geotag in Places, then I save the metadata with 'Write IPTC Metadata to Master'. The problem I have is, that the GPS data gets lost after I do an 'Update from Master', even if I saved the metadata before. I'm having this problem with referenced and managed photos and all my JPEGs from several different cameras. The only way to permanently store the GPS info into my photos seems to be to export the geotagged photos as versions.
Does anybody has the same problem or knows how to solve this?

Use Houdah geo (http://www.houdah.com) to write location data back to the EXIF. It's interface is very similar to Places (Google maps and pins) and you can interface with the Aperture library. It's a bit of a pain, but if you need it done now rather than wait for an Aperture 3 fix, then...

How to refresh metadata of a remote copy of the master cat ?

I have exported my mastercat to a copy on a USB disk which I take with me on trips attached to a notebook.
I want to maintain the metadata during the trip and to have all previews remotely available.
The copy contains only the cat and the previews, but no negatives.
As already this remoteCat and the previews have a size of 200 Gigabyte, it is not an option to "refresh" by simply exporting the whole mastercat to USB-disk again before each trip.
I want only to refresh the remotCat with the newest metadata content and additional previews.
But this refresh-import into the existing remoteCat fails, as obviously metadata and/or previews are only refreshed with the "import from another cat" option if the negatives exist in the destination cat. And this is never the case with this remoteCat.
The import dialog correctly identifies how many cat items have changed metadata, but these cat items are not refreshed after import.
Note: the other way round, refreshing the masterCat with changed metadata from the remoteCat works, as the mastercat always has all negatives online available.
How to do this refresh ?
In addition is there a way to copy the "MyLocations" list from MAP module to another catalogue ?
The export obviously only transfers the position data of each negative, but not the myLocations list.
This makes it uncomfortable to update the positions on the remote cat.

So you want to asynchronously refresh a part of the page. There is one general solution to accomplish this: implement AJAX.

What is effect of "Update EXIF From Master"?

I can't find an explanation of this menu item. A search within the manual returns nothing (?!).
A list view of my library in the browser shows that some photos do not have a lens information entry while others do. However, if I select a photo that has no entry and then click the "Update EXIF From Master" entry in the Metadata menu the lens information appears. Nothing else appears to be changed.
However, not knowing what this option exactly does I am not sure if anything else is changed.
This begs the question as to why some photos have that information while others do not (but can be made to appear).

Aperture's metadata handling in the 1.x days skipped or missed some things (e.g. lens info). So images imported in the 1.x days may not have all the details. For these images, if you've upgraded to Aperture 2, running this may get you more EXIF info on the photo.
For images that have been imported in the last 6 months, its not going to do anything at all.
The one exception is if you somehow add GPS info to the RAW files themselves (with a tagging application) after they've already been imported. I think Ian Wood has a couple applications that will do this. Anyway, if you run this command after adding GPS info to a RAW file, I think Aperture will pick it up (I haven't managed yet to successfully add GPS info to a shot tho').

Within Aperture you have Images, which are constructed on-the-fly from two files (the Master and the Version). You get an image-format file _only_ when you export an Image. You select the file name (usually a scheme) when you create an image-format file (that is, when you export). Look under "Aperture→Presets→File Naming" for built-in Presets. You can, of course, create your own or customize any provided.
The Preset is applied to only the file newly created by your "export" command. It is not applied to the Image in Aperture (unless you rename your Versions or your Masters).

Your Sony RX1 is not listed. Your best bet would be to use the software, that came with your camera to convert the raw files to tiff and to import the tiff to Aperture. Or to shoot raw+jpeg and to import the pairs and to work with the jpeg versions as original master files, until Aperture supports your camera.

APERTURE TETHERING: How do I prevent Aperture from going to the most recent shot.

I'm planning on a photo day (kinda like a school portrait) for my company and will be using a D700 tethered to a Mac running Aperture.
Currently when I take a photo, the person at the computer doesn't have enough time to enter the name of the subject in the metadata window before I've moved on and taken a photo of the next subject. Once I've captured the image a new image, Aperture quickly jumps to the new photo, interupting the naming process. Is there a setting I can change in Aperture 3.1.2 that prevents Aperture from jumping to the most recent shot.

I think what spikeyjonze was trying to say is you deselect Auto Select , not that you blow up Aperture

Insert From Master Table which is not based on EO

I have a Master-Detail relationship table page,now my requirement is to Insert data from Master VO(which is not based on any EO)
Actually I have added four new columns in the VO,only these four columns are of type message Text Input,all others are message Styled Text(just for fetching not inserting)
Now the problem is some fields in the VO will simply query and some will fetch as well as Insert
If at all I am trying to make the VO based on the New EO it is not inserting
Please help it is a bit Urgent

Copy line items from Master Agreement to SubAgreement

Dear all,
As a requirement, we need to create a dummy line item at master agreement and subagreement level to be able to publish them to ERP without need
to complete line items (they are completed in ERP via a development).
We have created master agreement templates with a dummy line item but at subagreement level, templates are not available.
What we are trying to develop is a script on post_create at agreement level to copy line items from Master Agreement to SubAgreement. We are able to get Master Agreement line items and copy them to the SubAgreement, but the subagreement is not created. This is the code we are using:

We managed to create a line item at VALIDATE script, but not at POST_CREATE. Either it is a bug or it is not possible at POST_CREATE script.

Hi David-
The advanced adjustments in the Highlights & Shadows tool were combined into the "Mid Contrast" slider in Aperture 3.3 and later. If you have any images in your library that were processed in a version of Aperture before 3.3, there will be an Upgrade button in the Highlights & Shadows tool in the upper right, and the controls you asked about under the Advanced section. Clicking the Upgrade button will re-render the photo using the new version of Highlights & Shadows, and the Advanced section will be replaced with the new Mid Contrast slider. With the new version from 3.3 you probably don't need the Advanced slider, but if you want to use the older version you can download it from this page:

where m.accid=d.accid (+)The outer join operator (+) will get you all the details from master and any details from the detail if they exist, but the master details will still be got even if there are not details.
Note: Oracle 10g now supports ANSI standard outer joins as in:

Hi Ecom,
To retrieve value on product detail page you have to develop your custom code in which you have to create BO, BOM, BEI and BEO to access Your master table data from ISA page.
You also need to create Custom RFC in which you pass porduct ID and retrieve related value from Master Table.
You can find example in ISA tutorial how to get value from Back-end via JCO.

Currency translation - not picking up currencies from master data

Hi,
We have a currency translation defined for a key figure. We've defined a variable for users to select target currency. 0currency is set to pick up from master data, but the input help on the variable is only showing currencies from infoprovider. I debugged the query and it is trying to get the currencies from the cube. Any setting that I do or update?
We're using BW 7.3 SP10 on HANA.
