Refreshing Templates

Hi,
I'm using Dreamweaver templates (DW8 and Cont. 3) to
administer a website. The client requested two new navigation items
so I added them to the templates and uploaded them and the
associated images. When I go to make a new page it gives me the
correct templates because I refreshed them in the new page dialog
box. How do I refresh the templates for existing pages?
I can not do it in Dreamweaver because I we have been
administering it for so long with Contribute that DW is basically
only used to change the templates. I also have several (like 25)
pages that need to be uploaded and do not currently exist on the
site, so I can't just download the existing site and re-upload.
Thanks,
Allie

I found this out as well. Fortunately in my case we had just
started our deployment, so I was able to alter our master templates
so that the navigation that was not to be touch by our content
creators was referencing a server side include instead of just
using raw HTML.
At least this way we can change those elements and the
changes are reflected immediately on all the pages on the site.
I agree completely that this is a virtually useless
implementation of the templates. The only part of the DW templates
that are really useful is the fact that Contribute obeys the
editable regions. Without having any realtime connection to the
pages based on them, they are not really worth much outside of
that.

  • OEM - Refresh Template script generation wizard don't work

    (Oracle 9.2.0.8, single-master-many-mviews)
    Hi,
I have never trusted in OEM but this time I hoped it will help me. Alas!
I created the deployment template using an OEM wizard. Now I need to generate the template script. The template script generation wizard supposed to do this but when I reach "Step 4 of 5 - Set refresh schedule" I set the interval and then... pressing "Next" button just does nothing. I can't pass to Step 5 despite all the information has been provided correctly. Anyone has any ideas about this or should I do it manually as usual and forget about OEM?

    Welcome to our community, Linda
In RoboHelp, if you open the Glossary pod (View > Pods > Glossary > Select Glossary) do you see terms and definitions listed there?
If not, that would explain it as the Glossary has no entries.
Assuming it does have entries, you may simply need to enable the tab by clicking View > Pods > Project Set-up. Expanding the Windows section in the pod and double-clicking your CHM window.
A CHM window looks like this:
If you don't see a CHM window, you will need to create one. If you do see a CHM window, double-click it. Then ensure the Glossary is enabled.

  • Automatic Refresh of Template

I have a user exit variable on 0MATERIAL with "Restriction of Values Required by User".  I derive the list of materials for this variable from certain "pre-defined" material groups.  I use this user exit varible in a planning folder.  So, when the user executes this folder, he/she will be asked to select a unique material from the "pre-populated" list.  But once the user selects the material, the template is not automatically refreshing to get the data for that material.  The user needs to press the "Refresh" button to pull the data.  Is there a way to "Refresh" template once user selects his/her choice of material?
If a "User Entry" variable is used instead of the "User Exit" variable, the template automatically refreshes.  Our users are accustomed to this behavior and they want the template to refresh automatically when they select the required material on the "user-exit" variable also.  This problem is similar to "variable refresh in BPS templates" and is discussed in the following posts.  None of them are conclusive.  Please help.

    Problem with API_SEMBPS_REFRESH

    Hi Sameer,
I had a similar problem in the past & i resolved by making sure buffer call is is set to initial for variable change by user.
I'm not sure how your exit function looks for the variable, but if you are using "l_buffer_call",
make sure it is set to initial.
If the exit function has following line
    l_buffer_call TYPE boole-boole VALUE ''.
layouts gets refreshed for each varibale change by user.
But, if exit function has following line
    l_buffer_call TYPE boole-boole VALUE 'X'.
layout doesn't get refreshed for each variable change by user.
    Hope it gives some insights.

  • Dreamweaver template not updating Contribute pages

Currently I'm trialing Dreamweaver (MX) and Contribute
    (3.11), to check
that it's a workable solution for my company, in terms of
    editing and
auditing, but right now I'm having a problem.
I have some templates (.dwt files) that I create in
    Dreamweaver, for
use with Contribute, i.e. I create the template, other people
    create
the content for our site based on the those templates.
The issue is that when I make a change to the template, I
    would expect
the pages created in Contribute to be refreshed to use the
    new
template, but that doesn't appear to be happening. The only
    way I can
get the page to be updated is to edit the page in Contribute,
    go to the
Format menu and choose 'Template Properties', then hit OK
    again to
close this dialog. I then see the page refresh with the new
    template
    changes.
Am I doing something wrong? I would expect, as I mentioned,
    to have all
pages automatically updated when the template is saved, and
    published.
Is there a setting I need to turn on, or a procedure of
    publishing the
template that I need to adhere to?
    any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Mark. While I think I've found most of
the things you mentioned since my first post, it is useful to get
confirmation of my finding, which appears to be consistent with
    your post.
Here's what I've found, and later, why I'm not really liking
    it:
If I edit the .dwt file in Dreamweaver and try to save it, I'm
prompted to only update those files I have locally that reference
    the template.
I can only update those local files that are checked out,
though the saving process will check them out automatically
If I create a new page using Contribute, I must refresh the
    templates first
    My concerns are:
if I can only update those files I have locally, then do I need
to have the whole remote site stored locally too? My company site
is huge (as it's translated into 6 languages) and has multiple
contributors/editors. It sounds like I will have to download the
entire site before I edit a template, and put it back again
afterwards. Is that right?? it sounds rediculous, so I'm sure I've
    got it wrong.
if I have the files locally, I must check them out before or
while saving the template. However, I then have to check them back
in manually. Again, with potentially 300 to 400 pages per template,
that's a lot of manual checking-in. If the saving process can
automatically check pages out, can it also automatically check them
    in again??
Like you, Mark, I find it strange that Contribute requires a
manual refreshing of templates. I've searched all the options I can
find, but I don't see an auto-refresh templates setting, which
would be sooo useful. As it stands I will have to instruct each
editor/contributor to refresh before they create a new page, and
    pray that they do.
any further advice from Contribute/Dreamweaver users would be
greatly appreciated. How do users with very large website handle
this? Are there any tricks or hints that you can pass on?

  • Contribute CS4 ignores template changes?

First, I'm new to Contribute. I understand the general idea
of what it does and how it works, but I'm clearly out of my element
on how it works with template files.
I'm setup as an administrator on a Contribute CS4
installation on WinXP. I can edit and publish pages with no
    problems.
Except this: When I modify the template files for the site
(obtained from the server, modified, and replaced on the server),
the new modifications are not appearing in the newly-published
pages. I've verified that I'm working on the correct template for
the particular page, and I've even made sure to "refresh templates"
a couple times in case that worked. I've even gone so far as to
find the drafts of the pages I've been working on and make sure the
templates stored on my hard drive are properly updated (they are).
Am I wrong to expect Contribute to incorporate updates to the
template file? Am I being a complete bonehead and missing something
obvious (wouldn't be the first time)?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've just had to update 100+ template based pages on a
Contribute site. I ended up having to use Dreamweaver exclusively
    for the change.
Contribute does not seem to be "aware" of template updates
when you update a template based page. When you edit a page based
on a template that has changed, it doesn't apply the change or give
you any means of applying the change.
Also, when I attempted to use Modify-Templates-Update Current
Page on a page in Dreamweaver using the File-Actions-Edit Page
Source in External Application, Contribute went, well, berserk,
acting like I wanted to change dozens of pages and files in the
site. Lots of manual clean-up after that.
So, I just used only Dreamweaver to update all the pages
based on the template, as well as updating the template itself.
It's possible to "break" a Dreamweaver template by updating the
    template with another editor.

  • Parent templates

    G'day
My parent templates are not loading up and therefore not
accessed through contribute CS3. This is stopping me from creating
new pages using the templates. The templates files are .dwt files.
In addition when I want to repeat an editable region and I click on
the icon I get a message saying : "You can't add items to repeating
regions because the draft's parent template is missing or not
available to users in your role. Please contact the website
administrator................... which is me, for assistance. In
the administrator preference section I have clicked the box 'Use
dreamweaver templates' and nothing appears in the show/hide
template box either. In the allow users section I can locate the
templates folder but it is empty. I'm wondering whether I need to
go back into Dreamweaver and recreate the templates- what a pain!
Any suggestions on why and how to remedy?
    Thanks in advance
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Please do the following:
    1. Create a folder named 'Templates' inside your site folder
    on server.
    2. Copy your templates(.dwt) in that folder.
    3. Launch Contribute.
    4. Click on File->New. Templates will be available in New
    page dialog.
-->If you can't see templates in "New web page or blog
entry" dialog, Select your site in "New web page or blog entry"
dialog and Click on Refresh templates->For selected
    website/blog.
    Hope this helps.

  • Contribute not recognizing template

I have created a Template in DW (2004MX) for client.
The site is set for "Contribute Compatibility" in DW.
The template is recognized in DW, and I can use it for a new
    page there.
The template ends in DWT and is stored in a folder named
    Templates in the root folder.
I uploaded this template (first one) to the server, in the
    folder in the root.
Then I opened Contribute, connected to the site.
The template is not listed in the New Pages dialogue box.
I "refreshed templates" - still not there.
Any ideas? Why isn't Contribute recognizing it?
PS. I am the administrator and all roles have access to all
DW templates, so it is not a permissions problem.

    > Any ideas? Why isn't Contribute recognizing it?
    > PS. I am the administrator and all roles have access to
    all DW templates, so
    > it is not a permissions problem.
Is contribute defined to the same root as Dreamweaver?
Is the Templates folder at the root, if you use
    File-->Open From Server and
    browse the remote files?
And- even though you have already enabled access to all
    templates, can you
give access to that specific template? does it populate in
    the list of
possible templates in the Admin-->User-->create page
    from... section?

  • Templates for New Pages Not Updating

I am a site admin with 7 Contributors accessing my site via
Contribute 3. I have created templates for them to use to create
their new pages. These templates allow them to only edit text; they
cannot update styles or layout in any way. I have noticed that,
whenever I make updates to my templates and resave them out onto
the server, some of my Contributors will pick up the new template
and some will not. Is there any way to force them to pull the new
templates? I have asked them to all Refresh Templates before they
create new ones....they tell me that they have, but they are still
pulling the old template. This causes an issue because, if they
pull the old template, I have to open their page in Dreamweaver and
update the template. Doing this on 30+ pages each month gets quite
tiring and almost defeats the purpose of Contribute for me. Any
suggestions on this issue are much appreciated!

Perhaps - and this is just a guess - the template references
in the pages have got messed up. Something I've noticed is that
template names with spaces in them get messed up by Contribute. At
the top of each web page based on a template is the <!--
InstanceBegin template=".....dwt" --> tag. If the template name
in there contains spaces it will sometimes get URL-encoded, i.e.
spaces become %20, and then Dreamweaver no longer recognizes the
template name as matching the one you're editing. Best practice
seems to be a an all character template file name.

  • Template declaration error when variable assigned is the same as variable declared

    Hi Fedor,
In comm-central repository, when compiling mozilla/mfbt/Compression.cpp using -std=c++11, it results in an error as follows:
"../dist/include/mozilla/CheckedInt.h", line 400: Error: Unexpected type name "T" encountered.
"../dist/include/mozilla/CheckedInt.h", line 400: Error: value is not defined.
"../dist/include/mozilla/CheckedInt.h", line 400: Error: No direct declarator preceding ">".
"../dist/include/mozilla/CheckedInt.h", line 400: Error: A declaration does not specify a tag or an identifier.
"../dist/include/mozilla/CheckedInt.h", line 400: Error: Default template argument cannot be specified on the definition of a class template member that appears outside of its class.
"../dist/include/mozilla/CheckedInt.h", line 400: Error: Templates can only declare classes or functions.
"../dist/include/mozilla/CheckedInt.h", line 413: Error: No primary specialization for partial specialization NegateImpl<T, 0>.
"../dist/include/mozilla/CheckedInt.h", line 416: Error: Too many arguments for template mozilla::detail::NegateImpl<T>.
    8 Error(s) detected.
After a check on the file CheckedInt.h, it was narrowed down to the following code that resulted in the failure (the variable assigned, isSigned is the same as variable being declared) :
    template<typename T, bool IsSigned = IsSigned<T>::value>
    struct NegateImpl;
This code, however compiles without problems in gcc-4.8.
A workaround was to use a different variable declared in the template (e.g. bool IsTSigned = IsSigned<T>). But I just wanted to be sure whether is this a bug in 12.4 Beta or whether coding rules in templates do allow this kind of declaration? Kindly advise. Thanks.
    Regards,
    Brian

    Hi Steve,
The declaration made below is not valid when -std=c++11 is not used (it causes the same compile-time errors when using July Refresh):
    template<typename U> class IsSigned;
    template<typename T, bool IsSigned = IsSigned<T>::value>
    struct NegateImpl;
So far, the workaround was to use a different variable declared in the template (e.g. bool IsTSigned = IsSigned<T>).

  • Contribute shows old image in template

    Hi,
I have Contribute CS3 showing an old image in a template. I
created a new image and named the same as the old image and replace
the old one in the server. Now Contribute is still showing the old
image. I tried hitting the Refresh Templates button in the New
Page... window, but it didn't work.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    Thanks

Have you checked on the server if the file is really
replaced. If you dont have rights to delete files Contribute does
not overwrite the file, but names it something like
'yourimage_001.jpg' if your image was called 'yourimage.jpg'.
To adjust settings to delete files, these are the steps (if
    you are the administrator) :
    1. in the main menu go to Edit, Administer Websites
    2. select to Users and Roles
    3. select the role you want to adjust and click Edit Role
    Settings
    4. select Folder/File Access
    5. go to the last setting 'Allow users to delete files they
have permission to edit' and select it.

  • Custom Menu Error

    Hello,
I have built a custom menu to access input templates and reports. It somehow seems to work very inconsistently. For e.g. if I use the following parameters:
    ACTION: OPENFILE
    P1: REPORTS\WIZARD\zadf1.xlt
The system issues the following error even though there is a template with the specified file name in the directory:
'zadf1.xlt' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct
The cusom menu however works for some other templates. And I canot determine the reason why it works in some cases and it does not in other cases.
Have any of you encountered this issue? If so, how did you resolve the issue?
FYI, we are on BPC MS 7.5
    Thank you & regards
    Raja

You are refering a local file with custom menu.
So I suppose the file exist into server but it was not download into client side (My documents\BPC(it can PC_MS depending by version)....)
It is working for some other files because these files were oledr and were download into client side.
You have to increase the tempate version from admin console or from web admin page and after that into client side to do refresh templates from eTools- Client Options - Refresh Report Templates.
After that everything will work fine.

I connect to several blogs. One of them shows the blog
template in the editor window so that it looks as if I'm working
directly on the website. None of the other blogs I connect to
behave this way; it's just a blank window. Is there a setting

And is there a better way to get support than these forums?
Nothing personal against posters here, but I paid a considerable
sum of money for this (and other Adobe products), and there doesn't

    Hi Thressh,
For the blogs for which the templates are not generated
please go to File->New->Refresh Templates to get the template

Also what are the kind of blogs you are connectiong to?

    Hi SaranRam,
The refresh button is there to allow the data that populated the work item to be refreshed. The data that you want refreshed is part of the rendering of the form and would only be refreshed when the browser refreshes. Refer to MrHinsh's reply in this

  • Refreshing drop down list in a web template based on a query view

Refreshing drop down list in a web template based on a query view
I have just developed my first set of portal pages displaying the results of Bex queries and query views in the SAP Netweaver portal. I developed the pages using web application designer. Each web template created with W.A.D is using a query or query view. In one template I have that is using a query view I am using a variable in my Bex query. This variable is of type customer exit, is set to variable is ready for input and calls some ABAP code which returns the current fiscal week number and year. When I run the query or query view in isolation through Bex analyzer the variables gets populated correctly. In my web template I have associated my variable from my query view to a drop down list box. However when I run the Iview created from this template the query results get refreshed but my drop down list box does not, it still shows last weeks week number. How do I get the drop down list box to refresh with the latest result from my customer exit variable?

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to  filter a calendar based a look up column in SharePoint 2013.
Calendar View not support OOTB filters connection. it is disabled for calendar view, you need to change view(not calendar view) so OOTB filters works and get connected to your view.
You can achieve this using combination of jQuery and SharePoint OOB techniques.
For jQuery filters refer to the  blog: enter SharePoint List Filters using jQuery
Also you can filter Calendar View Web Part using JQuery and SPServices:
