Refurbished iPod Touch Difficulties.

I was in need of a new ipod and I saw that the refurbished iPods were way cheaper than the new ones so i got one. I'm begining to think that my cheap purchase was a bad idea... I got the iPod yesterday and when i connected it to my computer (windows pc) it couldn't recognize it as an iPod. instead, it asked me if I wanted to upload pictures off of it and the icon showed that it was an iPod camera. I'm almost positive apple hasn't come out with a camera yet so how do i go about breaking the news to my computer that there is an iPod connected to it?
I also worried about the fact that 2 of my previous ipods have been registered to the same computer in the past and I'm thinking that might be the reason my last one broke. Is my computer just sick of new iPods?

My touch used to do this too. Only started happening after I upgraded to the 2.0 OS (which is what I guess your iPod came installed with).
I would just close this window, and iTunes would go on to recognize the iPod as an iPod and sync, etc. without issues.
What happens when you close the 'camera' dialog window?
Cheers,
Rod.

  • My Brand New Refurbished Ipod Touch is not working

I just bought a brand new refurbished Ipod touch 32GB (current generation), after a week it shows flickering white screens. I seldom used it for the whole week. When I went to apple service centre they told me that the water leak indicator turns into purple colour supposedly white. I ask them, how this thing can happen, because honestly I was always keep it safe and never been contact to any liquid or soak into water. Then I went to another service centre to get second thought – same feedback was given to me. The warranty was void because of the water leak indicator turns into purple colour.
Anyone can help me to resolve my case? Honestly, I seldom used my Ipod touch, never been contact with water and it was always safely kept. Maybe there is some problem down the factory line, why it was refurbished? What is the history of this iPod touch? Maybe from there, something can help me that can prove that is the original problem of this iPod touch.

i also got a refurb Touch. luckily, mine works as expected.
a refurb enjoys the same warranty as a new one. take yours to an Apple store near you and have it replaced.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • My refurbished iPod touch 4g isn't being recognized on my computer

I just bought a refurbished iPod touch 4th Generation from the Apple store and it shipped yesterday. When I tried syncing it with iTunes this morning, it was not even being recognized by my PC. My computer recognized it as first and said everything was installed, but when I went to sync it to iTunes it said it was unable to sync so I unplugged it and now not even the computer is recognizing it. The iPod just says it's charging when plugged in and computer does not say i have anything plugged in.

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Make sure the computer has iTunes version 10.7 installed.

I have a refurbished ipod touch 4th Gen.  I am having problems backing up because the cloud is almost full. I have tried to delete some apps/pics but it won't let me. Do I need to purchase more storage? Also, I accidentally erased all stored music. It is still on my personal computer and I need to know how to get it back on my ipod. A family member set it up for me.

You said " I accidentally erased all stored music.".
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Your iCloud backup does not include non-iTunes purchases like music from CDs
    If on your iPod now:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
You can go to Setting>iCloud>Manage Storage and see what is using the store and delete items from iCloud

  • Refurbished iPod Touch Help Please?

    Hello,
I'm considering purchasing two of the iPod Touch for my wife and I for Christmas. Considering that the cheapest one is $229, I thought about the refurbished ones that are selling a lot cheaper and I'm interested in maybe getting those.
I found the refurbished iPod Touch here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/FA623LL/B?mco=MTgwNjk1Mw&fnode=home%2Fspeciald eals%2Fipod%2Frhs
My question to anyone who knows about this is the following:
    1) Are these iPods different from the ones out now? Like, do these iPod Touch's still have the built-in speaker and other standard features? Or is this a previous generation iPod Touch? I'm not even aware if there's been other generation iPod Touch's since iPod Touch is still pretty new.
    2) Has anyone had experience with buying refurbished items from Apple before? Were you satisfied?
I'm really more interested in figuring out if these refurbs are the same iPod Touch generation out now. I know they've been bought before and fixed up for whatever reason, but for my budget, this would really satisfy my needs. If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I purchased a refurb original iPod touch from Apple. No problems, but it was slightly scratched on the back when it arrived.
The refurb ones appear to be the original ones (look at the size of the unit). They lack the external speaker and volume buttons, and I think they have a slightly different body design. But they can make some noise (i.e., alarms). The screen seems to be the same, and wifi speed is the same.
    Hope this helps.

  • Does the refurbished iPod Touch include a charger?

Looking at ordering a refurb Touch for a gift and I was wondering if it includes a wall charger.

If you are ordering from the Apple online store, and purchasing a refurbished iPod Touch, the device will include everything that a brand spanking new device would include.  That also means you can purchase Apple care to extend the included 1 year warranty to 2 years, and add accidental damage protection.
This is explained on the certified refurbished product page.   Sorry Deggie - You are incorrect on this one.

  • Just bought a refurbished Ipod Touch 3G..

Just bought this refurbished iPod Touch 3G about 2 weeks ago. It keeps switching off and rebooting on its own fairly often. I wasn't sure if it was because it was refurbished or if I needed to contact support to exchange it.

If it keeps happening after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod then I would say it is defective and should be returned.

  • Do the Refurbished iPod Touch have scratches.

I'm thinking about buying a refurbished iPod Touch at the Apple Store, but I want to know if the refurbished iPod's have scratches on them?

Not necessarily! I would recommend you to buy an Apple Certified Refurbished iPod Touch, once they were tested, certified before being re-sold... It also includes a 1-year Warranty. You can save up to 24% off the original price.
