Refurbished Mini--Won't Configure

I put in the install disk and stuff and when it gets to the Configuration it won't read it. Whenever I try to turn it on I get the ipod support address.

Fixed it myself...

  • Ipod Mini won't configure

Not sure where to post this. I'm at my whit's end and would appreciate some help. I mistakenly configured my ipod to a computer which is in another state and I think it is recognizing it as my "home computer". Today I uninstalled the software on the computer I am using now and tried to reinstall it. (it was connected fine until I messed with it, which I did to reinstall iTunes)Now it won't configure to this computer and I have no access to the other one! It happens to be my mother's house, so I called and had her uninstall all the ipod software on that computer, but I'm sure that isn't going to do anything. I have found it impossible to get help from Apple. Any advice? Thanks!!!

What happens when you try to set up your iPod in your home computer?
Is your iPod configured at your mom's house on a Mac or Windows?
You cannot use an iPod whose disk is configured for Macintosh on a Windows-compatible computer. However, you can restore the iPod disk to use it with a Windows-compatible computer. To do this, see "Restoring iPod to factory settings." http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
While a Windows formatted iPod may work on a Mac, Apple supports this configuration only with iPod shuffle.

  • Mac mini won't boot anymore

My Mac mini won't boot anymore. It's been running fine for months.
    It's running Leopard Server 10.5.2 Build 9C31
It starts to boot, I get the first spinning gear with the gray screen, then the blue desktop blinks, then a second spinning gear on a gray screen and it appears to hang (the gear stops spinning).
I booted off the install DVD, ran disk utility, repaired the HD, repaired the permissions: the behavior is the same.
Safe mode doesn't work (same hang as above).
    Single user mode does work.
I can connect to it via Server Admin while it appears hung.

Yes, it's been running Server since I purchased it.
I doubt the serial number is in use elsewhere: I purchased the 10-user version at a retail store in a sealed package and I've only installed it once.

  • Refurbished ipad won't restore

refurbished ipad won't restore or start up.  Only have had it for 2 weeks.

If the above fails you can download a free programme called Recboot. Follow the simple instructions and it will kick you ipad out of the recovery mode and bring it back to normal. I jave just used it myself as mine was stuck in recovery mode due to a corrupt back up file.

  • Mini won't boot when VGA is attached to KVM -- help!

My mini (Core Duo 1.86MHz, all updates installed) is attached to a Belkin Pro2 4-port KVM (F1DA104T). I've read comments about issues with KVMs being picky with the mini, but the mini won't even completely boot when the VGA cable is attached. I've used this KVM with other 10.4 Macs in the past (G3's, G4's), so I didn't expect problems. The monitor is a Dell 17" LCD (E173FP), which is fine when attached directly to the mini. I've also tried another LCD (different manufacturer) with same results.
The mini boots and I first see the gray screen with the Apple logo, followed by a light blue screen, and that's it. The finder never comes up, and I can't even SSH or VNC into it -- just the blue screen. Once I remove the VGA cable (only video - the keyboard and mouse are both still connected), it will complete the boot and launch the finder. If I boot with no display attached, or attached directly to the LCD w/o the KVM in the path, but then attach the mac to the KVM, I see the display for about two seconds, and then the monitor heads into power save mode. When I VNC into the mini to see what's going on, it's detecting two different displays; when the cable is attached but the KVM isn't on the mac's channel, it's one thing. When I switch over to the mac's channel, it's like I'm plugging in a different display. In any case, the computer is putting out 1024x768x60Hz, which is well within the specs of the monitor and KVM.
I installed SwitchresX and under VNC retrieved the DDC info. Here's what I have for when it's plugged into the KVM and on channel:

So far, I'm stumped. This is a $200+ KVM, supposedly better than many of the cheapies, with listed Mac compatibility. Neither Apple nor Belkin wants to take ownership for this problem. If anyone has any tips on where to look next, I'd be very grateful!
    Thanks!
    Jeff

    Hi BSteely,
Thanks for taking the time to look into this.
The blue screen I see is definitely not being generated by the LCD - it's coming from the Mac. It's coming up just after the gray Apple logo you see when booting. Normally you'd next see the finder pop up, but that never happens as long as the KVM is plugged into the mac (and it's only the VGA connection which is doing this, since the same thing happens with the keyboard/mouse unplugged from the mac). Once I remove the VGA cable, it continues to boot normally. If I hookup the LCD directly to the mac, it also boot normally.
Sorry I wasn't clear about VNC. I'm not seeing two displays at once, I'm seeing two different displays -- one when the kvm is on the mac's channel, and another when it switches away. Funny enough, I'm getting MORE resolution choices when I'm not on channel. The DDC info I posted above is for when I'm on channel.
    Jeff

  • Mac Mini won't boot up.

Mac Mini won't boot up! Just getting blank white screen, any ideas why? No apple, just a blank screen. It worked fine last night.

Have you tried booting into the Recovery HD by pressing/holding COMMAND+R at system start or the Option/Alt key and choosing Recovery HD to boot into?
If you can get into the Recovery HD, open Disk Utilities and Verify Disk. Repair if necessary.

  • My iPad mini won't charge at all. I got it for Chrisrmas and it is still in brand new condition and it was fine but now it won't charge at all! It used to charge in an exact position but now it has stopped altogether...Help!!

My iPad mini won't charge at all. I got it for Christmas off my dad and it is still in brand new condition. Until the other day it has been working fine but until yesterday or the day before my charger went all funny. In order to charge my iPad mini you had to put the charger in an exact place and if someone so much as touched it it would stop charging because it wasn't in its exact position. But today I tried to charge it again and I tried getting it in the same spot as yesterday but it is not working at all. I have only ever charged my iPad mini in the wall but I have seen posts about people charging it in the USB in an computer. So I thought I would also try that but that hasn't worked either and now my iPad mini won't charge in a plug or USB and I live really far away from an apple store and I can't get a new charger also because I live far away from the store. So what shall I do?

When and where was the iPad/charger purchased? It's covered by a 1-year warranty.
The problem may be the USB cable.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Mac Mini won't start and constantly makes disc ejecting noise

My Mac Mini won't start. It was working fine, then just locked up and won't start again. When I push the start button it just makes this repeated disc ejecting noise from the DVD drive. It doesn't make the chime noise or display anything on the monitor. I've disconnected the optical drive, but it didn't help. Then it just doesn't start at all. I thought that if I would disconnect the optical drive, that it would ignore it and just boot off the hard drive, but nothing happened. The power light comes on. Then, if I hold down the power button for 10 seconds it shuts down. The fan operates. It just never attempts to boot up. I can't put in a system DVD because the optical drive is just in eternal eject mode.
If you have any suggestions let me know. Thanks.

    I have the same situation.
I think the drive thinks it has a disc to eject or part of the mechanism is stuck and can't return to it's resting position. I was going to disconnect as you tried but now I think I'll try to disassemble the drive to see if there might be some debris jamming things up.
Please let me know if you solve the problem.

  • 2010 Mac Mini won't sleep

Hello, everything was working fine until I accessed my mac mini from my old iMac G4 to share some files. Now my new Mac Mini won't sleep. Here is what I have done. Ejected the Mac Mini on the iMac. Turned off the iMac, stopped sharing everything on the Mac Mini including files, my printer and iTunes media and reset the PRAM. Still the Mac Mini won't sleep. It's set to it's defaults of 10 minutes to sleep the monitor and itself but only the monitor goes to sleep after the 10 minutes. Very frustrated...

Hello Euchre and thank you for replying. I have unchecked all the boxes within the "Sharing" options that I checked some time ago. When I did that, sharing was automatically turned off. Still I am having the issue. I'll try putting the monitor at 9 minutes and the computer at 10 to see if that works. I'll be back. Thanks again, Ed

Problem : IPad Mini connects to iTunes OK, can be seen in iTunes and I can select which movies to sync to it etc.  When I hit the "apply" button after making a change (ie deleting or adding a movie) the sync lasts just a second then the "sync" button remains greyed out, and I can't make them sync.

What are you trying to do?
The Bluetooth is meant for earplug, headset, keyboard, car hands-free set, and speakers.
You need a 3rd party app to do BT file transfer or other functions between iDevices.

My ipod mini won't charge from the mains lead or a dock but works fine with the usb lead. I've tried different leads, sockets and resetting it but nothing works. It's a pain because if I go away from home for any length of time, I need to take my laptop just to charge it up.

I say try a different charger. When I wanted to avoid having to take my laptop everywhere, I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BNZLGE/ref=pdcp_etitle/002-2209999-2570423?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=172282
and it's worked fine in the six months I've had it... and besides it would cost under $10 to find the root of the problem, much more than Apple would charge, that's for sure.

  • Mac Mini won't read my external drive

Bought a Seagate 500GB external harddrive for my mac mini, and stored about 100GB of information in the harddrive. Now, the mini won't read the external harddrive. I am wondering if there is a way to retrieve it... Can someone help me? I don't think I can afford to loose 100GB of information.... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Clearly it has worked previously since you have data on it, but you haven't indicated what model of Mac mini you have (which can make a difference in terms of troubleshooting steps) and what circumstances surrounded the 'disappearance' of the drive - particularly as Boece says, whether it was disconnected (or powered down) without being first ejected from the desktop.
If the drive isn't being seen in the profiler, there is a possibility that the drive is not, in itself, faulty. A damaged cable, a faulty hub or a problem with the system's USB ports could be responsible. Since you don't give any detail about your system, it's hard to focus better on advising appropriate steps - however, if you are using a hub, remove it and connect the drive directly to the system, preferably using a different cable. If it mounts, then it was the cable or hub. If not, then open Disk Utility (in Applications>Utilities) and see if it appears in the drive list on the left.
If there's no hub and the cable checks out OK, then you might next perform a PMU reset (if it's a G4 mini) or SMC reset (if it's an Intel).
To reset the PMU for a G4 mini
    - Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord.
    - Wait 10 seconds.
    - Plug in the power cord while simultaneously pressing and holding the power button on the back of the computer.
    - Let go of the power button.
    - Press the power button once more to start up your Mac mini.
To reset the SMC on an Intel mini:
-From the Apple menu, choose Shut Down (or if the computer is not responding, hold the power button until it turns off).
-Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables.
    -Wait at least 15 seconds.
-Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time.
-Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
-Press the power button on the back to start up your computer.
If those steps don't help resolve the problem, post back with more information.
