  • Refurbished iPad not working right - return to Apple store?

Hey guys -- Simple question here but one I didn't see on a quick search.
Picked up a refurbished iPad 2 on May 10th.  The other day when I picked it up while playing a YouTube video, the screen faded to black quickly, almost like I'd hit the power button.  Didn't think much of it.  However, tonight, it's doing it again, and I'm able to duplicate it every time.  If I have the iPad in landscape mode and laying flat on a surface, with the home button to the right, and I lift up on the top edge, the screen will immediately fade to black and wait a few seconds before I can turn it back on again.
I do use this for my job (sound tech) so I definitely need it to be reliable, and now I'm a bit concerned about it.  I'd like to get it taken care of locally if possible so that I'm not without it as long for work, and there's an Apple store fairly close (MacArthur Mall, Norfolk, VA).  But since I purchased it on Apple's site, am I going to have to deal with them, or can they take care of things at the store?  I can't imagine they have a pile of refurbs to swap it out with.
If I do have to go through the online store, has anyone dealt with them who can tell me an estimated real-life return time?  I need to know if I should buy another iPad to get me through the next few jobs or if this will be back quick enough.
    Thanks!

You do not have to go through the online store. You can go to an Apple Retail Store. It still has warranty so ou are entitled to a free replacement if the Apple Store Genius is not able to fix the problem.

  • Refurbished iPod not working

I just bought a refurbished 3rd gen. iPod nano from the online apple store and when I connected it to the computer (iMac G5) iTunes displayed the following message,
"iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
When I tried to restore it (several times) it said that "this iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1418)". I tried to connect and restore the iPod on my powerbook as well, but the same messages appeared.
I'm not sure what the problem is, but on the iTunes summary page about the iPod it says that the format is windows, could this be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

    Hey there,
Have you had a chance to look at the following Apple support document regarding this error? If not check it out.
    [Error 1415, 1417, 1418, 1428, 1429, 1430, 1436 or 1439: Cannot restore or update iPod in iTunes 7 or later|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1372]
Otherwise, I would try using disk utility to completely reformat the iPod. If you are unsure of how to do this, you can check out this article:

  • HT203167 Refurbished iPad not recognized by iTunes

My original iPad 2. Was dropped long story short, they had to replace it with a refurbished one.  How do I make this new one registered to my iTunes?
How do I get back all the apps that I purchased when I had my original iPad?

If your iPad isn't being recognised by your computer's then do you have the current version of iTunes on your computer, and if you do have you got a different USB port that you could try ? There is also some troubleshooting on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
In terms of your apps, then if they are still in the store then you should be able to re-download them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page, or directly on the iPad via the Purchased tab in the App Store app. You may also be able to re-download music, films, tv shows via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app.

  • Can I return my refurbished phone?

I lost my phone some I ordered a refurbished phone through the Verizon store. Later that day someone gave me their old Verizon phone, which I would rather use. Can I return the refurbished one they just mailed me and have them activate the phone my friend gave me? And would I get a full refund?

If you purchased a phone from VZW online, you can return it for a refund as long as you do so within 30 days of the date that you purchased it online...whether it's refurbished or not. You would want to use the shipping box your phone came in to ship it (and all accessories that came with it0 back and make sure to put the return label that came in the box on it as well so it gets returned to the right place. There will be a restocking fee of $35 though. It's charged whenever you return or exchange phones purchased from VZW.

  • Problem in refurbishment processing while creating GR.

    Dear experts,
I'm working on refurbishment processing. I have done all the steps as below:
I have a material for equipment for which I have 3 valuation types:
    C1 - New items
    C2 - Repaired Items
    C3 - Damaged Items.
    1. Equipment creation with serial number allocating the valuation type C1 installed at a F/L
    2. I have 2 no.s of the same in stock with the valuation type C1.
Now I got a problem with equipment which is installed and needs to send it to the vendor for repair. I have changed the valuation type to C3 of the equipment in serial number data, and dismantled using t code IE4N with movement type 202. After that I have issued one material (equipment) from stock to the same cost center and then went to change mode of the equipment (IE02) in structure tab I have mentioned the F/L.
Now I have created a Refurbishment order for the damaged equipment, mentioning from valuation C3 to valuation C2 in the order. I have mentioned the Service number, qyt and price in the External screen of the Operations tab. Released the order. I got PR. (I have mentioned only services for the PR, no materials). I have created the PO w.r.t the PR from the refurbishment order.
After that the vendor has completed the services and returned the material (equipment), for that I'm following the GR w.r.t refurbishment order i.e, IW8W. I have entered the Order number then enter. There in the new screen it shows,
Change charge / valuation type+Post GR. this is having tick by defualt.
    Posting date: 28.05.2009
    Document date28.05.2009
Valuation type C2 in gray mode
    Plant 1250 in gray mode
    stor. location 1040 optional entry
Then I have ticked the box for Deliv. Compl
Here I am not finding the material number or serial number.
In the bottom of the screen it shows the header
Serial number   Material number     Materail doc number     Batch/Valuation Type
The headers are showing but no data under the header. While saving the document it gives error message as below:
    Select serial numbers
    Message no. CMFU106
But there is no data of serial number to select. I have tried the same in IDES, there it is showing only Material numbe no serial number, but allowing to save the document. (the screen is bit different that of Devl. server, in IDES the header as I mentioned above is not appearing, just below the order number the Material number is displaying.)
Please help me in solving this issue.
    Rgrds,
    Praveen

    Pithan,
I dont understand why new serial number is created while creating RO? That equipment is already having aserail number and was in use. Now that equipment is damaged and sending for repair to vendor.
While creating RO it takes the serail number of that equipment (here I have one serial number to one equipment and one material with several serail numbers).
If that is the case then how it has accepted the GR through MIGO?
In the document itself SAP mentioned the you need to choose the serial number of the damaged equiupment while creating the RO. It will not be created while creating RO.
When I try to create and release RO it gives error message as below:
Automatic serial number assignment for refurbishment is not advisable
    Message no. IW832
    Diagnosis
The material 700000236 is assigned to the serial number profile. For the serialization operation affected here, automatic serialization is configured in Customizing (value 04)
    System Response
The setting is not supported in the refurbishment.
    Procedure
    Maintain the serial numbers manually.

    Praveen

  • 20G iPod not recognized by iTunes or My Computer on PC running on XP

I've just gotten a refurbished 20G colour iPod, bought online directly through Apple. When I received it I fully charged it and connected it to my computer, which refused to recognize it. After going through troubleshooting on my own and talking with Apple's telephone support, I brought it to an Apple Store. It was declared a dud and replaced.
I am having the same problem with the replacement iPod (also 20G, colour; not sure if it's refurbished or not). I have gone through the troubleshooting steps as listed on the Apple website; when I plug it into the computer via USB, the battery gets the lightning bolt over it that indicates that it's charging but it still won't show up in iTunes or My Computer.
The iPod is fully charged. I have restarted the computer and reset the iPod several times. I have tried connecting in disc mode; it stays on "OK to disconnect" and nothing else changes. I have reinstalled the iPod and iTunes software on the computer, more than once, along with the drivers for the USB. The USB ports work with other devices with no problem, and the computer is new. As far as I can tell, the USB cord works, since it worked to charge the iPod. That wasn't replaced when the iPod was.
I have tried to restore it, but can't because it won't even see that the iPod is plugged in. Is there anything I can do re. restoring or resetting the iPod on the device itself, without the computer? I haven't yet tried deleting the preference file -- do I just find it in the iTunes folder and throw it in the Recycle Bin, or do I have to clear it through the iTunes program? I read the info about changing the drive name, but I can't do that because it doesn't show up as a drive in the first place. I don't know if it's formatted for Mac or PC -- the last thing listed on the "About" screen is the model number. If it's formatted for a Mac I can't change it on my PC because it won't recognize the iPod; could I change that on a Mac?
I don't want to just get rid of it, but I'm very irritated to have taken home another iPod that does not work, and I don't want to do that again. There is no reason, that I can see, why it won't work on my computer. I have two older PC towers; I will try it on those and go through the troubleshooting, although I did that last time with the other iPod and still had no luck. In the meantime, any ideas? Thanks.

Besweet, I'm having the very same problem with 60GB colour which was bought new and worked for 6 months before suddenly just not being recognised by PC. I hadn't changed anything at all.
I've followed all troubleshooting advice and reinstalled and updated iTunes and iPod updater software but all troubleshooting routes seem to hit the dead end of either the need to access the iPod via the PC (which isn't possible as it's not showing up at all) or the iPod in disc mode stuck at "ok to disconnect".
It's still under 1yr warranty so will have to take to a dealer.
I'm sorry that's not much help for you but at least you know it's not a unique problem.

  • How apple support my iphone who ever my serial is replaced and  how i know my iphone is refurbished  ??

Hi everyone! I have iphone 4s, which was my friends bought it from canada appstore about 1 month before and has serial number DQ*******TDD and IMEI ****. When i try to check warranty on the page https://selfsolve.apple.com/wcResults.do i see
We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contact us.
And if i try to enter IMEI here i see
Our records indicate that this product has been replaced. Please provide the serial number for your replacement product to find the support and warranty coverage information. For more information, please contact us.
Does it means, that I was bought a non exist iPhone? Or it was refurbished? I need an official answer to take them to seller because I was bought iPhone as a new.
How I know my iphone is  refurbished?
    Thank you.
answers that i folow up and find are :
    - Did you purchase the device from Apple or an authorized reseller? If not, then you were scammed.
    - It means you bought a gray market phone that was replaced, reported lost, or reported stolen, then re-sold illegally. It has no warranty and Apple will not service it with an out of warranty replacement.
    - If your phone was replaced, it was most likely refurbished.
    - You cannot tell the difference between a refurbished phone and a new one.
    - check your serial number if its starts with 5K then its refurbished model
Not true. All it does is identify it as 'service stock'. It may be refurbised, or it may be new. There is no way for you, or even someone at an Apple Store, to tell the difference.
6 - You bought a phone that was stolen, lost, or taken in for repair and then re-sold illegally. get your money back if you can.
If there is ever a hardware problem that requires service, you will most likely not be able to get it serviced or replaced by Apple.
7- During the refurbishment process the devices are assigned a new serial number.
8- This means that your iPhone was replaced by Apple and you entered the serial number for your old iPhone which was replaced.
9- That means that particular phone has been replaced under warranty. Where did you get the phone from? If it was used, the previous owner may have had it replaced and not returned it to Apple as they were supposed to and sold it.
10-  Interpreting what you postd, it would seem you had the device replaced at some earlier stage.  Apple doesn't repair but instead replaces the whole unit with a refurbished unit which has its own serial number. Whatever the case, you will have to see Apple about the matter.
11-  white box (new) or a brown box (refurb)
    now my questions :
how i know my iphone is refurbished and how apple support my iphone who ever my serial is replaced ??

How can I know my device is refurbished or new one??Can I check my device is refurbished or new with serial number?

  • Really unhappy with Bold issues with freezing and Verizon not backing products

I started a discussion on the issues I'm having a few weeks ago, and things are getting worse.  I bought the Bold online just over 2 months ago, and really liked it at first.  I started noticing that it would freeze up and the only button that would do anything is the screen lock button.  When the phone would lock up, pushing the screen lock would shut the screen down, but nothing else; the phone would be totally frozen.  I would have to take the battery out and reset the phone.  This started happening more often, so I decided I would return it, but when I looked at the paperwork, it said that I had just a few weeks after receiving it to return it.  Of course this time had already passed so I can't return the phone.
The problem is now happening 3-4 times a day, and usually at the worst possible times.  I'm also having problems with when I place a call, it goes through, but the person on the other end can't hear me.
Its pretty sad that a company will take phones back, "repair" them, and sell them as refurbished, but not back them for longer than a few weeks.  I was surprised to be told when I got the phone that insurance wasn't offered on it, and now I know why that is.
I've learned to never buy refurbished again, especially if the company doesn't back its product.  My options now are to spend another $200 for a phone on top of the $100 already spent, or move onto another provider.  My wifes contract with Sprint is almost up and we were going to move her to Verizon, but it maybe the other way around.

Hello everyone, there recently was a software update for the Bold that was supposed to address a lot of the audio issues.
If you have updated and are still having audio issues, or any other issues such as freezing devices, please let us know. The new software version is: 7.1 Release 1737 (App: 7.1.0.580; Platform: 5.1.0.429),

  • If you buy a ipod from best buy will apple exchange it for a new one if the botton is not working or if it is freezing.

    plz answer

Most likely, but there is only one way to find out .  Note that you will probably get a refurbished iPod not a brand new one.

  • Valuation type & object in refurbishment order

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to make an refurbishment order in that valuation type field for the material being refurbished is not coming against from plant in refurbishment tab. Also against the quantities under material i am not getting the object push button. Can any one help me with customization path to get both of these inputs. i have attached screen shot for same.
    Regards
    Rachin Kansal

    Hi Rachin,
    See the Picture1.
I tried IW81 without split valuations created, but master data (Accounting Data) available for no split valuation with Valuation class and Valuation Category (H). See there are no Split Valuation fields (In my case the split valuations are C2 - Repaired and C3- Defective)
    See the Picture 2.
Here I have created the Split Valuation C2 (Accounting Data1 View) through Tcode MM01 ,  by giving the Valuation Class for Split Valuation (you'd configured earlier) in the Accounting Data1 Tab.
Similarly I have created through MM01 , split Valuation C3 for this material.
    See the Picture 3
Now I tried  IW81 again, the split valuation fields are appearing.

  • New iMac wifi slow on Airport network, not on Fastweb

I just replaced our old iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz, Airport Extreme Card 802.11 a/b/g/n - OS 10.6.8) a new refurbished iMac 27-inch (late 2012) (OS 10.8.4).  The new computer works great, except with wifi - it is painfully slow on our Airport network, even though the old iMac still runs perfectly fast on that network.
We have two wifi networks in our house (in Rome, Italy).  Our internet comes in through the Italian company Fastweb, and its wireless router limits us to only 3 devices.  Both computers have fast internet connectivity when we hook up one (or both) to our Fastweb network (802.11g).  But that's not a good long-term solution because we need our main computer to talk wirelessly with other devices (like our printer and speakers running off an Airport Express booster).
So for the last three years we have also had an Airport base station (802.11n) based off the Fastweb network. We use the Airport network to connect most of our devices (including iMac, MacBooks, printer, iPads, iPhones, and two Airport Extremes -- one for speakers in the next room, and another to boost the signal throughout the house).  For some reason, the new iMac is painfully slow when it connects to our Airport network -- it can take 2 minutes to load a web page on the Airport network, which takes 2 seconds to load on the Fastweb network.  I would've thought that the problem lay with our Airport network, except that it's still plenty fast with our other computers.  The only problem seems to be the new iMac talking to the Airport network.
Could the problem lie with the Airport Extreme card in the new iMac?  It is a refurbished machine, not new.  Should I just be taking the machine into the nearest Apple Store?  We did buy AppleCare . . . .
Thanks very much for any ideas!

  • Refurbishment settlement to material

    Hi Experts,
I have done a Refurbishment process cycle for a material with condition based valuation type(DEF type to REP type) and I have done TECO.
Stock quantity is getting updated when I do GR (IW8W). But the Moving average price remains the same to all material in that valuation type(REP).
I want to settle the order cost (labor + components) to same material and get the moving average price to be adjusted.
Please advice me to correct this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Babu.K

    Hi
Refurbishment will not happen from MM. It happens via asset management. Service/material purchase orders should be created with reference to concern asset with account assignment category A.

  • Are replacement ipods from the apple store refurbished ones?

I broke my 4th gen ipod's screen saturday and I was pretty bummed out bc I thought I was going to have to buy a new one, but I took it to the apple store on sunday and they were pretty cool about it and gave me a new one for free, but is it really a new ipod or is it a refurb? it works pretty nice and it's even faster and more responsive than the one that broke but im noticing the battery runnin low a bit faster than the old one, I'm going to completely drain it and recharge it to see if that helps, but yeah anyone know how good the replacement ipods are?

Almost all the time replacement iPods are refurbished ones, not new. The only case I think you would get a new one is if there were not any refurbished ones available. Regarding battery life, it is high dependent upon the apps you have and the settings for the apps. Thus, a little shorter battery live is probably due to different settings/apps rater than a bad battery.
