Refused a download on my new iMac (Yosemite)

Needed to renew a download from a well-used and recognised supplier (and which worked perfectly on my old iMac - Snow Leopard). The download was refused on grounds it was "from an unidentified developer". Why the change and how to continue with this download, please?

I just purchased CS6 and downloaded onto the new iMac I just bought. I cannot get it to open. I think I may have purchased a windows version in error. When I clicked on "DesignStandard_CS6_LS16.exe I am told the application can't open because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OS X. Does anyone know how to contact Adobe directly? I keep going around and around on their site and have found no e-mail or phone number to contact them to get this straightened out. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks so much out there for any assistance!

Trouble installing CS5 on new Imac Yosemite

Just got new Imac running Yosemite. Trying to install CS5. Old version from a disc. One problem, no disc drive on new machine.
Downloaded CS5 from adobe site and entered serial number. Get error message "not valid serial number for this product"
What am I doing wrong? Installer opens and I get to the serial number page, triple checked serial number from back of DVD case and it still says invalid??

Downloading to my new iMac ?

Just puchased a new iMac (Previously only used Microsoft) and need to install my photoshop program. Problem is my iMac does not have a dvd drive. The box shows Adobe Photoshop Elements11 & Adobe Premiere Elements 11 and also has two serial numbers , one for photoshop elements and one for Premiere Elements.How do I go about installing or are both incorporated in the one download?

You can download the Mac version of the installation files thru the following pages and use the serial numbers from the box to activate them. Each will be a separate installation.

Why doesn't Java download on my new iMac?

I have a brand new iMac 3.4 gHz intel core i5 and have upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.1 and many of the programs that I migrated over from my laptop are not supported on my new computer. I cannot update my Java program/software, so it comes up with everything that I am running and won't allow me to work in some programs until I have it installed. I have tried to install it and it says 'successful" every time, but the Java window pops up frequently telling me that "in order to view, you must instal Java"
Can anyone shed some advice?

click system preferences->java in the java control panel click the update tab if it says "your system has the recommended version of java" then reboot the computer.

Downloading to a new imac

I just bought a new iMac. I cannot download Photoshop Elements 9 & Premier Elements 9 to my new computer bc there is no CD/DVD drive. I tried to copy the disc contents to a flash drive but to no avail. It tells me the "Installer failed to initalize." I downloaded Adobe Support Advisor but even that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you updating or downloading the full version?
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

Cannot download apps on new iMac! - please help

I just bought a new iMac for my boss yesterday and when I first set it up, it allowed you to set up without an Apple ID. I had to do this because he hadn't emailed it to me yet.
Today (next day) I now have it and went to add the Apple ID to the store (iTunes) and to System Pref>Users>Apple ID
Did that and now when I try and download the Apps that come with the computer (Garage Band, Pages, etc etc etc) it tells me that I can't have access to it because the Apple ID belongs to "someone else" . It doesn't belong to anyone else - it belongs to the owner of the new computer and I need this to sync with his existing contacts and iTunes purchases and Apps.
Any clues how to solve this? LOL!!!!

Actually I found the solution - not sure why its not made obvious when someone first gets these App messages:
1. Go to Apps Icon
2. At top of window click "Purchases" tab
3. See if you have Apps to "Accept"
It might ask for your Apple ID and password again as a prompt, put it in and voila!
Once you Accept them, they can then be updated and you won't get the message saying the apps belong to someone else.

Problems downloading documents in new iMac

I hope someone can help me. I have been having problems downloading document on my new iMac. (Bank documents in .qif files, and MS Word documents as .doc files) I use Safari, but I have had a similar problem in Explorer and Firefox. When I try to download, I get an error message in the download manager that reads, for example: 8.0 kb of ? -- Cannot create file. Then when I retry, it seems to be downloading until it gives me the same message. It is not a permissions problem, since I checked on that. And it is not a server problem, because my iBook downloads files just fine.

Open the General section of Safari's preferences and check the download location; if this isn't the desktop, change it to the desktop and try again. If it still doesn't work, control-click on the desktop and choose Get Info from the File menu. Check that the Locked checkbox isn't checked and that you have full access to that folder; if you check permissions from the Disk Utility, it won't look at or fix the permissions on the desktop folder. If it still doesn't work, reopen Safari's preferences and move the download location to the Documents folder in your home folder. Also check that there is enough free space on the drive to accomodate the downloaded file.

Apps that run on the iPhone and iPad are iOS based. Apps that run on your Mac are designed for the Mac OS X. Two different operating systems.
In other words, apps that run on your iPhone and iPad cannot run on your Mac and vice versa.

Eos isn't downloading on my new imac

So....I just bought the 27 inch iMac with OSX 10.8.3 and want to set up the Canon EOS Utilities program to download photos from my Canon 5D to my iMac and the software, straight from the CD, downloads properly, but when I connect the camera, it opens, then immediately closes giving me an error message. HELP! I need to get this working. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I am a Photographer so time is money.

Call Sony. You need to confirm first w/them if your current OS is compatible w/their software. If it is, ask them for help.

There is a link here but the servers are quite slow; so you will need to be patient whilst downloading. You also need to access the link whilst being logged in with your Aqdobe ID (read the instructions) otherwise access to the download will be denied.
