• I cannot scroll using Firefox. I can scroll in I.E. and Chrome. This is a new problem. I've used Firefox for years.

Using my mouse pad scroll feature I cannot scroll in Firefox. I've been using Firefox for years and never had a problem before. I can scroll in Chrome and I.E. There are a few websites I can scroll in but not in Yahoo and several other sites. and I can't scroll on the page I'm typing this question on.

Try to modify the pref ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled on the about:config page from the default value -1 to 0 or 1 to see if that makes the scroll pad work.
Close and restart Firefox after changing the pref.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

• Why, after using Firefox for years, can I all of a sudden not get videos on many print articles that have them, when, if I go to Internet Explorer, I can?

On many web pages, videos that are included in an article, are just large spaces of white with nothing (no video to click on whatsoever) in them. If I open an IE browser, and go to the same article, it displays and plays the video perfectly. I know many people who are experiencing this.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

• I have used Firefox for years on my Mac laptop for years, I tried to update to version 4 and now I have no Firefox and every time I download the the Firefox the emblem has a awhite circle with a cross through it, so I can't drag it to applications.

The support page is ridiculous, it assumes you already have Firefox and that the install went fine. I am having trouble with an update to Version 4. I have an ibook G4 running OS X. I have used Firefox for years. When I downloaded the update, the Firefox logo thing that you are supposed to drag to the Applications folder has a white circle with a line through it. I have rebooted many times and have updated all other software.

Hello,
I wouldn't trust any Firefox "update" from a non-Mozilla website. Sometimes, unofficial builds contain adware or malware. If you want to use Firefox for AOL do so at your own risk.

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details" to expand this section.
If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the <b>issuer of the certificate</b>.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If <b>"I Understand the Risks"</b> is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.

I can't undertsand what is going on since the closing has never occurred before.
I have not written down the incident #s.

The offer from EE was presumably to fix the phone , which they are entitled to do, you turned it down.
You can either go back to them and take up their offer to repair or you can try the Nokia warranty which will involve you contacting Nokia direct either by taking it to an authorised/approved Nokia care centre or submitting an online claim under the warranty to Nokia and following whatever instructions they issue for sending the phone to them.
You have not so far contacted Nokia as you have dealt only with EE.
I'm surprised the EE assistant told you the phone was being sent to Nokia rather than their inhouse technicians although I think that was simply a mistake on the assistant's part.
How did you get a PAYG phone from EE? I thought EE were offering contracts only.
So far as time scales EE don't post phones backwards and forwards on an individual basis. The shops use courier services and the frequency of deliveries and collections will depend on the number of shops in a town and the level of goods going back and forth.

• Several sites will not respond any longer when I type or click on them. I have been using Firefox for years and all of a sudden, nothing.

I have been using Firefox for many years now and have been going to several sites on Firefox. Now, after an update around two days ago, I can't do anything with the sites. The cursor stays an arrow, and doesn't click anything. It's like a blank page with print on it.
I've tried almost everything, but to no avail. It's too much to copy and paste below.
Any ideas or help would be very much appreciated.
Also, http://tesnexus.com is another site, plus a few others, besides google.com.

Hi Papajack55,
I'd try starting Firefox in Safe Mode. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide and the Troubleshooting plugins article as well.
Hopefully this helps!

• Why, after using Firefox for some years ,can I get on to the Virgin Media site but not the Virgin Media e-mail or anypart of My Virgin Media.

I have used Firefox for a few years with great success but now I cannot receive my email from the Virgin Media site. The rest of the site is fine but as soon as I click on "Check your e-mail" I get an error message. This is very frustrating.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Click the menu button , choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the "Clear Now" button.
Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.

Thank you.

• Can not connect to the internet. This is a new problem since I have been using firefox for years.

I can not connect to the internet. I called mediacom due to the problem and they connected me to internet explorer. They indicated I should contact you for help in connecting to the internet. It appears firefox has made some kind of change since last night since I was using firefox for my internet connection last night. Something has changed. Your help will be appreciated.

The only way that file opens thru IE8 for me (but not actually in IE8) is by using the Zip Utility (then IE closes) that is in WinXP and then opening the two image files in the Windows Fax and Picture Viewer.
I think Firefox is trying to display that file because the MIME-type is for text/plain instead of the appropriate MIME-type of application/vnd.google-earth.kml+xml or application/vnd.google-earth.kmz
That is something that needs to be configured in the server that is hosting that file type. Sorry, I don't know how that can be fixed. The one support person here that might know lives in Europe (I believe), so you might need to wait for an answer.

• Been using Firefox for years, deleted Babylon app & now I can't launch Firefox at all. I've uninstalled & reinstalled Firefox, rebooted, but that didn't solve the problem. Am I condemned to IE?

On 3/18 I used Firefox to download a translation app called Babylon to my Dell Latitude laptop - running XP Pro. I checked out the app, got all the pop-ups asking me to buy spinoff products & uninstalled Babylon. When I rebooted I couldn't open Firefox.
I started investigating, came up with a weird Pareto Logic UUS error, fixed that. Unistalled Firefox through the Control Panel. Used IE to again download & install latest Firefox. At the end of installation, the dialog box askes "Lauch Firefox now?" which I checked & clicked the Finish button. Nothing happened. I rebooted & tried to launch Firefox from the Start menu, then from the root .exe - no luck. IE launches fine; I just want my Firefox back!

i wish i could paste the error message but it is

• I have been using Firefox for years. When I downloaded the Firefox 20.0, I can type in my hotmail address, but my hotmail won't open.

I am able to type in the address bar, but when I hit enter, nothing happens. And I don't like using Internet Explorer. This happens when I try to acccess my hotmail account. I never had this problem with other versions of Firefox.

We are aware of issues using the address bar. A push to fix the issue will be made in 3-5 days. In the meantime since your issue is a little different that what we have you can try safe mode.

• When I log off Firefox, there is a long delay, then an error message: Firefox not responding. Then it eventually logs off. The side bar scroll up and down also experiences delays. This is a new problem--I've used Firefox for years. Help!

I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox to see if the problem would go away--no luck. It's not my mouse nor my keyboard. Internet Explorer does not have this problem nor any other application. When typing on websites, there is also a delay when the cursor is tabbed, and typing experiences fits and starts as well. I'm going crazy!
