Reg: Authorisation difference between BW3.5 & BI 7

Hi All,
Please update the security differences between BW3.5 & BI 7.
Regards,
Venu

Dear Venugopal
Iu2019m going to try help you regarding your question,
The authorization perspective of 3.X is focused in the authorization object, thatu2019s means that each user needs a group of authorization object to use the BW system, they are grouped in roles. Each authorization object have a specific function, it is to control object access and data access. The control access is defined for each component of BW as InfoObject, InfoProvider, InfoCube, DSO, OHD, Query, BEx Analyzer, BEx application designer, Enterprise Portal, ect. The other is data control access is defined for a set of characteristics relevant of authorization, created in the tcode RSSM where you set up an authorization object.
The main difference of version 3.X between 7.X is the set up data access. The tcode RSSM was obsoleted and they have released the new tcode RSECADMIN where you can handling whole authorization system, in these tcode you can access to analysis authorization maintence (new concept), instead of reporting authorization object.
In summary, the strong chancing in the BI 7.0 has been in the data access authorization, with the new concept analysis authorization.
Other hand, regarding object access there are a some new functionality as portal, open hub destination that are incorporated new authorization object.
I hope these comments help you about your question,
Luis

  • Difference between BW3.5 and BI 7.0 version

difference between BW3.5 and BI 7.0 version

    Hi ,
Differences between BW 3.5 and BI 7.0
Major Differences between Sap Bw 3.5 & sapBI 7.0 version:
    1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
    2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
    3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
    4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
    5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
    6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.
    7. The Data Warehousing Workbench replaces the Administrator Workbench.
    8. Functional enhancements have been made for the DataStore object:
    New type of DataStore object
Enhanced settings for performance optimization of DataStore objects.
    9. The transformation replaces the transfer and update rules.
    10. New authorization objects have been added
    11. Remodeling of InfoProviders supports you in Information
    Lifecycle Management.
    12 The Data Source:
There is a new object concept for the Data Source.
Options for direct access to data have been enhanced.
From BI, remote activation of Data Sources is possible in SAP source systems.
13.There are functional changes to the Persistent Staging Area (PSA).
    14.BI supports real-time data acquisition.
15 SAP BW is now known formally as BI (part of NetWeaver 2004s). It implements the Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW). The new features/ Major differences include:
    a) Renamed ODS as DataStore.
    b) Inclusion of Write-optmized DataStore which does not have any change log and the requests do need any activation
    c) Unification of Transfer and Update rules
    d) Introduction of "end routine" and "Expert Routine"
    e) Push of XML data into BI system (into PSA) without Service API or Delta Queue
    f) Intoduction of BI accelerator that significantly improves the performance.
    g) Load through PSA has become a must. I am not too sure about this. It looks like we would not have the option to bypass the PSA Yes,
    16. Load through PSA has become a mandatory. You can't skip this, and also there is no IDoc transfer method in BI 7.0. DTP (Data Transfer Process) replaced the Transfer and Update rules. Also in the Transformation now we can do "Start Routine, Expert Routine and End Routine". during data load.
New features in BI 7 compared to earlier versions:
    i. New data flow capabilities such as Data Transfer Process (DTP), Real time data Acquisition (RDA).
ii. Enhanced and Graphical transformation capabilities such as Drag and Relate options.
iii. One level of Transformation. This replaces the Transfer Rules and Update Rules
iv. Performance optimization includes new BI Accelerator feature.
    v. User management (includes new concept for analysis authorizations) for more flexible BI end user authorizations.

    KP

  • Differences between BW3.5 and BW7.0 Realtime Data Acquisition

    Hi,
Could any one explain me clearly the differences between BW3.5 and BW7.0 for Realtime Data Acquisition  and also steps for creating it in BW7.0.
Eagerly waiting for your reply. Thanks in advance
    Anan

You have to create tranformation in between your DSO and datasource.
If u have not done init of delta earlier, create Standard DTP and schedule init load.
If you did already, create or convert(if standard DTP already exists) Real time DTP. Now create infopckage with realtime field enable, and follow the steps of my blog on demanon from here onwards.

  • Difference between bapi and function module

Can you guys tell me what are the differences in calling bapis and function modules?
I see we are calling both as the same way we call function modules. May be for bapis, we need to be careful in declaring and passing those exact structures. Can you please make it clear reg. the differences between them?
    I appreciate it.
    Thanks!

    HI,
    See these links on help.sap.com
    <b>For BAPI:</b>
The data entered in the Internet is transferred to the R/3 System via BAPIs (Business Application Programming Interfaces).
Data in the R/3 System is accessed via BAPIs as well.

The important use of functional module is it is used by Enhancements.
SAP Enhancements are used to expand the standard functionality within SAP.
Enhancements use function modules and are called from the standard SAP code.

    3.1 c
SAP BW Release 3.1 Content - What' s new?
SAP provides a comprehensive set of business analytics to integrate and analyze process-oriented content from a variety of sources and across various applications and industries. It enables companies to improve business processes and quickly respond to changing market dynamics by providing business information to executives, analysts and information consumers, delivered in real-time via the Web.
SAP BW's analytical foundation and wide-range of Business Content enables customers to create their own analytical applications that best fit their business requirements.
    Business Content and Business Analytics
    Business Content for Oracle Applications
Standard Business Content for Oracle Applications 11i was delivered with BW 3.0B covering the Financials and Project Accounting areas. To enhance the value of these existing analytical applications, including Web cockpits for cost center and project monitoring, we provide predefined extractors to load the business data from the Oracle Applications source system into SAP BW.
The integration of Oracle Applications into SAP BW is based on the new Oracle extract package of Ascential's DataStage product. Business data from Oracle Applications is extracted into the InfoCubes for the Oracle General ledger and for Oracle Project Accounting that were delivered with BW 3.0B. For more information please click here and also here.
Analytics Supporting The Concept of Business Activity Monitoring (BAM)
BAM is a Gartner term that defines the concept of providing real-time access to critical business performance indicators in order to improve the speed and effectiveness of business operations. As business transactions are increasingly automated, the speed of these transactions accelerates. SAP BW delivers packaged analytics, for example in the SCM area, that combine application and data integration using SCEM (Supply Chain Event Management).
SCEM enables companies to monitor processes immediately and in great detail. This means that they are able to recognize and react to critical situations quickly, before they result in delayed deliveries and production standstills. In many cases, event information is essential not only during the processes, but also after completion, because it can be used both for measuring quality aspects and for cost saving. For this reason, it is advisable to integrate the Supply Chain Event Manager with SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW).
Business Analytics - SAP's Packaged Analytical Applications per Business Area / Industry
Analytical applications measure and improve business processes across a company's entire value chain. Based on a solid foundation (Data Warehousing, BI Platform and BI Suite of tools), SAP BW provides integrated applications that understand each other's metadata, and offer a closed loop that incorporates all aspects: Operations, analytics, and personalization.
SAP BW 3.1 Content delivers analytics for all business areas such as CRM, SCM, SRM, HR, etc. as well as for different industries, such as Retail, Banking, and Service Providers to name a few.
    bw 3.5
    What's new?
SAP BW 3.5 is designed to deliver seamless integration capabilities into all of the SAP NetWeaver components, as well as offering new capabilities in the Business Intelligence platform and suite.

  • What is the difference between authorisation if-authenticated and none

    Hello,
I am working on a AAA configuration, and can't determine the practical difference between authorisation none and authorisation if-authenticated.
I realise the obvious difference, that if TACACS is down, with none there is no authorisation if none is used; and if TACACS is down authorisation will allow all commands if if-authenticated is used.
However, since you must always be authenticated, before authorisation commences, in practical terms, there is no difference that I can see between if-authenticated and none? Can anyone please explain if there is a practical difference between them.
    #####################Authorisation if-authenticated#############
aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
    #####################Authorisation none##################
aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ none
aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs+ none
aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ none
    Many Thanks
    Ian Potts

One use I can think of is where you have both AAA and local configured for exec or command authorization. Let's say TACACS+ in the following manner:
    aaa new-model
aaa authentication login default tacacs+ local
aaa authorization exec default tacacs+ if-authenticated
    username admin password
If you had this configuration without the "if-authenticated" statement and the connection to the TAC+ server goes down or you receive an ERROR in communicating with it such as a mismatched key, then it goes to local for authentication. If you did not want to use local authorization and want it to succeed exec authorization for this local account, then the "if-authenticated" statement would be needed.
    Check out the debugs with:
    aaa new-model
aaa authentication login default tacacs+ local
aaa authorization exec default tacacs+ local
AND the TAC+ server is down
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC (4150549846): Port='tty2' list='' service=EXEC
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (4150549846) user='admin'
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (4150549846) send AV service=shell
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (4150549846) send AV cmd*
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC (4150549846) found list "default"
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (4150549846) Method=TACACS+
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (4150549846): user=admin
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (4150549846): send AV service=shell
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (4150549846): send AV cmd*
    core7200-4#
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR (4150549846): Post authorization status = ERROR
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (4150549846) Method=NOT_SET
6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (4150549846) no methods left to try
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR (4150549846): Post authorization status = FAIL
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: Authorization FAILED
NOTE, Post authorization fails because there is no method set for EXEC for the local user. Now, put in "if-authenticated" and test again:
    aaa new-model
aaa authentication login default tacacs+ local
aaa authorization exec default tacacs+ if-authenticated
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC (2893174055): Port='tty2' list='' service=EXEC
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (2893174055) user='admin'
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (2893174055) send AV service=shell
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (2893174055) send AV cmd*
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC (2893174055) found list "default"
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (2893174055) Method=TACACS+
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (2893174055): user=admin
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (2893174055): send AV service=shell
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (2893174055): send AV cmd*
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR (2893174055): Post authorization status = ERROR
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (2893174055) Method=IF_AUTHEN
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR (2893174055): Post authorization status = PASS_ADD
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: Authorization successful
Note, the Post authorization passes because of IF_AUTHEN.
    See the behavior?
    Hope this helps.

  • Reg : Difference between Dates

    Hi Friends,
I am having an issue in finding out the date differences .
I am working on a report that shows the planned hours for a production order based  on activities and work center.  it is having a start date and end date as characteristics.
User will input the a date range and if the start and end date are lying in the given range it should give the sum of hours for all the production orders at a work center level. This comes straight forward.
But if the start date lies in the given user range and end date in  future. The caluclation of the Planned hours is difference between the  ( User given date (to value )  - start date ) * 24 * 60  Mins. , as user enters from and to value.
I have tried with characteristic value replaced by key and using a formula to get the difference , this works only when the start date is in rows or columns.
The report requires at a much summarized level, So I cannot use it  .
I then tried making the start date a Keyfigure and then created a formula , but this is also not working .
Kindly give me some idea or solution if anyone has worked.
    Thanks,
    Krish

  • Difference Between SY-UCOMM and OK_CODE

    Hello ,
What is the Exact difference between <b>SY-UCOMM and Ok-Code</b>?

    Hello,
sy-ucomm is for doing the functions what the user wishes to do at that particular event. You use it in menus and other place . this mainly in using <pfstatus>
ok_code is generally used in screen as of I have used.  You will define the function in the screen. and you can use it in the main program.
ok_code acts just as a temporary variable that stores the value of sy-ucomm.
When user interacts with the screen elements, the function code that you have assigned is filled in the sy-ucomm field which is turn gets reflected in OK_CODE.
In your ABAP programs, you should work with the OK_CODE field instead of SY-UCOMM. There are two reasons for this: Firstly, the ABAP program has full control over fields declared within it, and secondly, you should never change the value of an ABAP system field. However, you should also always initialize the OK_CODE field in an ABAP program for the following reason:
In the same way that the OK_CODE field in the ABAP program and the system field SY-UCOMM receive the contents of the corresponding screen fields in the PAI event, their contents are also assigned to the OK_CODE screen field and system field SYST-UCOMM in the PBO event. Therefore, you must clear the OK_CODE field in the ABAP program to ensure that the function code of a screen is not already filled in the PBO event with an unwanted value. This is particularly important when the next PAI event can be triggered with an empty function code (for example, using ENTER). Empty function codes do not affect SY-UCOMM or the OK_CODE field, and consequently, the old field contents are transported.
