Multiply/Divide Currency Translation BPC Scenarios

Hi,
I know the concept of Multiply and Divide in the Input currency dimension in BPC. What I wanted to know is a business scenario /example in which Multiply/Divide is used? Is it dependent on the users discretion whether they want to maintain the currency conversion rate at in a certain format requiring a multiply / divide or is it dependent on business requirements?
For example does the user decide whether the EUR to USD conversion rates be maintained at 1.39 justifying a M at the input currency dim or 0.73 justifying a D at the input currency dim? or is it based on business requirements?

Thanks for replying. But the rates you mentioned can also be entered as
1 RUR = 0.027 USD (1/36.2618) in that case the Multiply/Divide propery in input currency dimension in the rates model will have 'M' specified.
But what is the business logic? Is it based on user preference. Or based on the format of loading currency exchange rate data from external systems?

Dear all,
I am in the process of exploring BPC NW 7.5 version.
So i searched for documnets in regard to this in SMP/help.sap ,found few guides..etc.
My question is apart from these guides ,do we have likes of TAB Files (Eg: BPC 310/320 ..etc ),for BPC NW 7.5 .
Or Whats the best practice to get consolidated list of Documents to get with.
Request if any body got the list do share.

of BPC 7.0 NW versions.
Are their any links to read for to find out the new features in BPC 7.5.
I did searched to get the new features,ame to know about BPF .etc.

Reg SRM Scenarios

I have no idea on what and how or anything abour SRM system and its components.
But now I have to Integrate EBP & SUS (What are they & their purpose?) in SRM for exchange of some data like PO as attachments.I also have to send the same to R/3 also.
Is it possible? If yes, please let me know the steps to be followed or any blogs on this kindaa scenarios.

Reg:BPM Scenario

Hi All,
My scenario is Portal(SOAP)- - - R/3(RFC)- - - MDM
The webservice(Asyn) is being triggered from the portal ,it will update the data into ECC system by using a RFC(syn) and from the response(status) of the RFC the message is passed to the MDM server.
Could anyone suggest me on how to proceed the above stated scenario.

Use Async Sync bridge pattern with BPM
Soap sender (async) ---> RFC(sync) --> Proxy or Idoc (async)

Hi All,
My actual requirement is,need to trigger a the database(Oracle9i) on a daily basis for a scheduled time and in receiver side it has to post the xml file to 1) FTP server,2)as mail and 3) to portal as a web service.
Can someone please suggest me how do this scenario.

Please clarify some points
you want to place same data in three receivers or based on conditions you havt ot send data??
You can acieve it using BPM(if you send ding same data to 3 receivers)
or you can acieve it using Enhance receievr determination if sending data besed on Conditions.
Use JDBC Sender define the structure follow stanndarad procedure XI interface Development.
receiver side use File,SOAP,Mail adapter.

Please clear my doubt what is the difference in REM profile when , we create REM profile we use in control data back flush from standard cost estimate for material instead of data from product cost collector
Can we use normal routing in place of rate routing in REM scenario

Dear Venkat,
Yes we can use a normal routing instead of rate routing in REM scenario.
When creating REM profile you have 2 option whether to post activities and whether to post as per the standard cost estimate
details or based on the preliminary cost estimate of the product cost collector.
If the option is elected for standard cost estimat is a mandatory before production booking that's backflush using MFBF.
Check and revert back with your queries.

BPC Best Practices: Sales Planning (BP2)

Im trying to follow these instructions:
1. Log on to Interface for Excel.
To do so start the SAP BPC Launch Page from your desktop icon or via the Start menu of your desktop, then in the Programs folder choose SAP -> Business Planning and Consolidation.
2. On the SAP BPC Launch Page, choose Interface for Excel. In the dialog box, select the AppSet SAP_BP_Planning and the Application Sales_Planning.
My problem is that in my BPC Launch Page (at step 2) I don't have these options:
AppSet: SAP_BP_Planning
Application: Sales_Planning
These are the options that I have:
AppSet: ApShell (in the combo box)
Application: (nothing in the combo box)
Can anyone figure it out why i dont have those options (SAP_BP_Planning, Sales_Planning) ?

The version I have is BPC 7.5 SP4 with SQL Server 2005
Im new at this, I installed this software in a Windows Server 2003 Virtual Machine and now im trying to learn how to use this software. I have downloaded the configuration guide and those steps are there. This is the only one step that i couldn't follow:
3 Prerequisites
Before you start installing this BPC scenario, you must install prerequisite scenarios. For more information, see the BPC prerequisite matrix (Prerequisites_Matrix_[xx]_EN_JP.xls; the placeholder [xx] depends on the SAP Best Practices version you use, for example, BPC refers to the SAP Best Practices SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation 7.5: Prerequisites_Matrix_BPC_EN_JP.xls). This document can be found on the SAP Best Practices documentation DVD in the folder \BPC_JP\Documentation\.
I couldn't find that file in the Best Practices folder (50101040)

Handling web service error in BPM

My scenario is get a message from a data base and call web service using that, if web service is available get the response from web service and send it back to data base, incase web service call is unavailable.
When web service is unavilable Iam getting a fault message back and could not proceed. I have a seperate blco to do web service call, in that I have Synchronous send step in BPM, and selected default system error under Exception.
My requirment is when SOAP fault occurs I need to send the data back to data base else proceed if web service call is sucessful.

Looks like we can not handle fault messages in BPM.
Before I close this thread. just wanted to give little more explanation reg. my scenario.
Business scenario - Pull the data from Data base using a Stroed Procedure(this marks the records once it is successful) and call web service using this data. If web service call is success, push the response received from web service to Data Base. If call to web service fails, still push the data which was pulled initially from database back to same location in database.
Iam using BPM to get the message from Data Base using JDBC sender adapter, once I got the data Asynchronously into BPM Iam using Synchronous send step to call web service, in the properties section, I have specified request message (abstract asynchronous, ) response message (abstract asynchronous) , Receive from - SendContext and selected default option which is ExWebserviceCall for SystemError.
I have an exception branch for this synchronous send step, which is working good incase of system error.
This is working good when I tried to testing using invalid URL for target system. When web service itself is down , in this case Iam getting SOAP Fault back with HTTP code 500.
In SXMB_MONI, under error - it is showing as this error is related to application , which I think is application error.
When this happens my process is not working.

Issue in calling Adapter Module

Hi experts,
We have a File -
> IDoc scenario where the file has got fixed length data. The data is in the following format:
Header xdfsdfefefeswefr
Detail dfdkfereorierwer
Detail fdfkjwoeiefiwere
Detail
Trailer erererewoirwoiwe
We do not have any identifier to identify the header, detail and trailer record.
We have gone for custom java adapter module which inserts H, D, T as the first character of each line in the file to identify the Header, Detail and Trailer nodes.
We added a entry for calling the adapter module under the module tab in file sender communciation channel. The EAR for adapter module has been deployed successfully.
But we are unable to call the adapter module at runtime.
The channle log has no indication wrt to the module being called.
We are on SAP XI 3.0 SP17
If any one has faced a similar issue. Please respond and your help would be highly appreciated.

Calendar popup in WAD - Urgent

In web application designer - I need to incorporte date function which should have a calendar popup. I need to select date from the calendar.
This is happening in bex - query level, but when use the same query in WAD , it is not showing the popup.
Give me your valuble suggestion to incorporate in our real time scenario.

reg. my scenario i already enabled the force variable option, but still i am not getting a calenar like popup.
for example, the user wants to enter your date of birth, u will be displayed with the calendar month popup, u can select the date from the popup.

Read-only scenario issue in SAP BPC 7.0 SP07

Please do not post duplicate threads across forums.

This is related to SAP BPC.
The appset which runs on SAP BPC 7.0 SP07, is not able to write on read-only scenarios, while the appset which runs on SAP BPC 7.0 SP3, allows to write through script logic.
If a read-only scenario cannot be written even through a script logic, it is impossible to finalize working versions.
So, let me know if anyone came across such similar problem.And how was it resolved?

Dynamic Dimension members - Efficiency of BPC to handle such scenarios

I am currently doing a fitment analysis for a client to understand if BPC 5.1 MS version, SQL Server 2005 (the client has this installed) can be used for their reporting requirements.
The main requirement is that the client wants to drill down to every transaction detail. That means BPC needs to store that level of data. The number of transactions range between 50,000 to 60,000 on an average per year. Among these the master data additions include about 30,000 to 40,000 per year.
- Has anyone been able to use BPC to work efficiently for such scenarios.
- The other requirement is that the master data needs to automatically update without any manual interference. (I have seen in past threads the process of automatic processing of master data from a staging table on to a mbr table, now that is something that I am going to try. However if the number of master data rows exceeds the maximum limit provided by excel 2003, will the master data automatically be stored in the next sheet)
- What are the implications for such requirements after a period of time in terms of efficiency, usage, performance etc. Is BPC the right tool for such scenarios.
If anyone has worked on similar projects using BPC your inputs will be highly appreciated.

Prompt on BPC & BW Integration Scenario

Hi gurus,
we have a question about BPC (Netweaver version, 7.5) and BW (7.0) Integration.
We have to load transactional data (actual) from BW to BPC; how can we manage the selection of these data in BPC?The problem is that the user wants to load, for example, only actual data from January to May; how can we pass this selection to data transfer process in BW to automate the loading process?

Hi Christoffer,
It is certainly possible to load data to BPC using BW transformations and DTPs, just as it is possible to report off of the BPC multiprovider using BEx queries. There are certainly implementations that are doing both of these things. I am skeptical that it is wise.
I recommend against doing either of these things until SAP releases a note or documentation outlining supported integration scenarios. Until that happens, my understanding is that these types of scenarios are not supported and may be broken by future releases or support packs. This type of breaking change is probably unlikely, but certainly possible.
On the other hand, if a customer knows what they are doing and is willing to accept the risk, then there is nothing wrong with doing something like this. Rules are made to be broken after all
