Reg. Creation of Super BOM

Hi all,
Pls tell me how to create Super BOM.
I am using ECC6.0
My Requirement is i want supply a finished Product for Eg. Car which has many variants like Colour,Engine Type etc.,I have to create Variant BOM that is Super BOM for this Fin.Product Car.
Here it is tedious for me to create all type of Variant materials in the material master.So By using Variant BOM my work will reduced by creating Finished Product car single item in the material master.
But i am not fully clear about how to create this form the materail master to linking to the Super BOM.
So pls. help me by sending me the Flow of this item from material master to Super BOM.
Take the same Example.

Hi,
1 Create characterstics in CT04.
EX: colour(red, blue, green), engine etc., with characterstics value.
2 Create class in CL02 with class type 300. And assign all characterstics in class.
   EX: car
3 Creat object dependecy in Cu01.
   Assign the condition type.. it should consists of charater = 'char.val'
4 Create material master with variant material type or create normal finished material and            activate material is configurable in basic data 2. Assign classification view with the type of 300.
5 Assign configurable profile in CU41. for variant material
6 In BOM assign variant and non variant material then for variant material assign object depency.

Dear Friends,
i want to create one super bom for any fert.
what i understand from super bom is that, it defines all possible components(bom data). when we require specific type of product, we have to consider some of the components relevant to the particular type of fert before proceeding to mrp.for this i need some clarification!
i am giving small example....In cars blue and red colors are there. for this i have created super bom through the t-code CS01 by considering two colors.
what are the next steps(screen inputs required)involved to survive the purpose? some clarification on objects and its dependences,classes.
can anybody tell the procedure involved in creating super BOM form material master to running mrp?

Thanks for your reply I want some more clarification, which will be solve my problem.As per your explanation,i tried procedure,but i am unable to do the needful. I am facing the following problems in the following menus.
when i went for creating configurable material in BASIC BATA 2---PLANT CM CONFIGURABLE filed is asking some reference material. how to go about it?
AND IN MRP3---> PLANT CM CONFIGURABLE --- variant material and classes field are showing!
I am familiar abt clasees and characteristics.but how to create variant class and items!
can u please explain how to go about it? it will be very helpful for me to overcome my problem.

BILL OF MATERIAL
The Material Ordered, Delivered and Billed consists of one or Several Components.
These components are called as Bill Of Materials
The Material Ordered by the Customer is referred as Main Item or Higher Level item. The Components are referred as Sub-items.
When we enter the Main-item in the Sales documents, the Components are automatically determined and this is called as expansion of Bill Of Materials.
In SD, we treat the processing of Boms in two ways.
Processing at Main-item.
Processing at the Sub-item
The Processing in both cases is controlled by the Item Categories and Schedule line Categories.
Step: 1
Prepare the Martial Master for all the Materials, which is main-item and Sub-item.
In the Material Master, the Item Category group of the Main-item is important.
We need to Maintain the item category group for the Main-items and sub-items as follows.
Scenario Main-Item Sub-Item
Processing at ERLA NORM
Main-item level
Processing at LUMF NORM
Sub-items
Item Category TAQ TAE
Schedule line CP CT
Category
Step: 2
Let us take Computer as a Bom. It has Varies parts like Mouse, keyboard, Motherboard, Ram, CPU.
Let us take Computer has the main-item, and sub-item as the rest.
Prepare Material Master. We have to Prepare Material Master for Main-item and Sub-items.
T-Code: MM01
First Prepare for Computer which is the Main-item.
In Sales: General/Plant. Maintain ERLA in the Item Category Group
Then Create and Save the Material Master
Step: 3
Create Material Master for the Sub-item. That is for Keyboard, Mouse,
Motherboard, Ram & CPU.
In Sales: General/Plant. Maintain NORM in the Item Category Group
Similarly Create Material Master for the rest of the Sub-item and SAVE.
Step: 4
Create Material Bom.
T-Code: CS01
Enter the Details
Material no: xxxxxx
Plant: xxxxxx
Bom Usage: 5
Then Enter
Step: 4A
A screen will pop-up. Enter the details of Components such as:
Mouse , keyboard, Motherboard, Ram etc, in the screen
Then SAVE
Step: 5
Create Condition Record.
T-Code: VK11
Maintain Pricing for only the Main-item.
Maintain Pricing only for Main-item.
Thas is Computer.
Then SAVE
Step: 6
Create Sales Order
T-Code: VA01
Enter only the Main-item.
Then ENTER
Step: 7
The Bom Explodes
Bom Explodes with the Sub-item.
Pricing is done only for the Main-item.
Then SAVE
Step: 8
Create Delivery
T-Code: VL01N
Picking is happening only for the Main-item and not the sub-item
Then SAVE
Then do billing.

Hi,
Super BOM Creation Is same as BOM Creation (CS01).
For Example in your case COMPUTER is the Configurable material.(Mat type KMAT)
This Computer is made with (80GB & 128 RAM ),(40GB & 256 RAM),(80GB&256RAM).i.e. suppose these are the possible combination and each is the seperate product.
We call these configured products as Variants which are FERT materials.
COMPUTER 1 - (80GB & 128 RAM ),
COMPUTER 2 - (40GB & 256 RAM ),
COMPUTER 3 - (80GB & 256RAM )
Normally to produce these materials we need to create Seperate BOM for each.
Instead of Creating 3 seperate BOM , We Create only one it is SUPERBOM which is having all the Components to produce all the variants.
That is
80GB HD
40GB HD
128 RAM
256 RAM.
For selction of this Components we use Dependency Called 'SELECTION CONDITION'
For this we have to create
CHARACTERS CHAR_HARD_DRIVE(Values 80GB,40GB), CHAR_RAM(Values 128RAM, 256RAM)

Super BOM doesn't generate while run MRP from Sales Order

Hi all,
I am trying to make a Super BOM
where i have a material x as finished product, and i have 2 material as component for that finish product ( A and B )
i already create characteristic and assign it to the class 300, i also have created the configuration profile for the finish goods material and the object dependencies selection condition type for those material component in the BOM Item,
i also have check using simulation CU50 and the BOM is ok
But when i try to create Sales Order, entry the characteristic and run the MRP using MD02, the Super BOM doesn't explode
Is there anyone who can help to solve this problem??

Hi,
Does any planned order generated for the finished material? or you are talking about the components explosion?
If all the answer is Yes, then check and maintain the 2 collective requirement in MRP4 tab for the components material master.
And reprocess the MRP and check.

I'm a fresh DBA.I'm new to this field and learning Things.Unknowingly i deleted the pfile and made a shutdown to my database..... When i'm trying to start the Database i'm unable to start it. is there any way to create a new pfile..........Please find me the way...

What is your Oracle version ? Have you create a spfile before delete pfile ? If the response is no, you need to recreate a pfile manually.
=> It a good way to have a backup of all database files, including pfile (or spfile).

What is your Oracle version ? Have you create a spfile before delete pfile ? If the response is no, you need to recreate a pfile manually.

i m working in furniture company. my product is chair(kmat) . bom for chair is three sfg and one raw material.in that one sfg (seat) having three rms . one is seat cover and under seat cover they having fabric , leather. in fabric they having black , red colour. i m create seat cover as class and fabric as characteristic. black and red colour is value . so but want to kow i m define this in bill of material plz

Hello Dear
Create all the materials required for producing the Finished Product (FERT).
You hv to create chair as finished product .
you hv to create 3 semifinished product .
create 3 raw materials and bill of material for the 1st SF with the 3 raw material As line item.
then create Fabric and leather.
you have to create Fabric black and Fabric red as raw material ...
and this should be included in BOM as line items ..
since the BOM contains aall the parts that are required for possible variants it is called Super BOM.
The rest of the process in variant you have to follow .

For super BOM u need to do do the following configurartion settings.
1. For Min item pricing go to VOV7 and select TAQ , go to structure scope and keep B(Explode Multi BOM)
2. then go to v0v4 do the settings
         OR ERLA TAQ
         OR NORM TAQ TAE
         OR NORM TAE   TAE
3. Maintain the records in CS01.

Super BOM for not KMAT materials

Hi Gurus
I have a client requirement to maintain the BOM for finished product as a Super BOM even though the material is not KMAT material. Super BOM has got KIT materials. Based on this customer requirement only certain materials which goes in to finished product are get selected and should check the availbility of those components and it should create a planned orders and purchase reqn After MRP run.
My question is how the KIT materials are maintained in BOM?
how the materials get selected while creating a Sales order w/o usinf Variant configuration?
Does all the super BOM materials get consumed after the production confirmation?

What do you mean by KIT materials.
By the way you can still maintain material as Configurable w/o selecting material type as KMAT.
Just you need to do is select material type FERT / HALB as applicable and then maintain material is configurable check box ticked in Basic Data 2 View in material master.

You need to find BAdi for it, cl_exithandler=>get_class_name_by_interface .
Or try with SE84,

In the Super BOM you need to maintain the object dependencies.
Workcenter fields are as usual for other production processes.
Also you can use search option in the forum to view the threads posted in the past. There are many posts related to variant configuration.

Configurable Material and Super BOM

Use Material Type KMAT only for the Configurable material and not for all the comps.
Following are the steps for creating varient configuration.
1 Create a material master
Material type: KMAT (or) check the indicator material is configurable in Basic Data 2
2 Create Characteristic (CT04)
3 Create Class (CL02) class type 300 (variant) & assign the characteristic to the class
4 Assign this class in the Classification view of the material master & save the material.
5 Create a configurable profile (CU41) for the material
6.Basic data 1: Gen Itm cat grp (0002) configuration
7Now while creating the super BOM, use the same Tcode CS01, in the item categary enter 200 and the item details assign it to the KMAT.

How to set up the inspection plan for the material in super BOM

how to get the accurate inspection plan of the IQC for the material which was class item in a super BOM?
I've gotten the characteristic value from the sales order, and get the PO after MPR. The problem is how to specify the target value and the range of inspection characteristic in inspection plan, because the value is temporary?

Hello,
I think you need to create MIC which linked with the configuration characteristic, and specify "inspection by configuration" for the inspection type.
then the configuration value in the sales order can be transfered to the inspection lot when production released or goods receipts if you use inspection type 03 or 04. that means the value range for the MIC will be determined dynamically for each sales order.
