Hi All,
I have a requirement to customize the Overview page of Add/Change Dependants and Benefeciaries. I need to change the text of the buttons, "New Father", "New Mother", "New Child" and "New Emergency Contact". I have imported the ESS Business Package into NWDS.
The problem is, I do not know the exact DC used to make changes to these changes. Can someone help me on the same? Please provide me the DC which is being referenced in this scenario.

Hi Pavithra,
Youc an use the FPM view to edit the texts of buttons. Just Go to the iview where you want to change the text in Content ADMIN--> Portal Content. Right click and preview it. After previewing use CTRL+Right Click by focusing on the button. There you can change the name of button.

ESS Benefits Generic Enrollment - Different behavior backend v/s portal

We are using the ESS Benefits generic enrollment service for enrollment kicking off the adjustment reasons on IT 0378.
Here is the configuration set up, trying to simplify to explain the matter. We are on ECC 6.0 with EHP2.
1. Configured one plan type in savings category.
2. Within this plan type, configured 2 plans.
3. Configured all other related configuration to set up the 2 plans.
4. Configured the adjustment reason and the appropriate plan type created in step 2.
5. Created the required adjustment reason on 378.
In HRBEN0001 transaction via backendwe can see the 2 plans configured within the plan type.
But when Trying to enroll from ESS - only one plan can be seen for that plan type, the other plan is not shown at all.
OK - eventually, debugged and found this piece of code in FM HR_BEN_ESS_FILL_SELECTION_DISP. The 2 different plans are there until this piece of code takes one of them Off...

This FM is called only for ESS application and not for backed program.
What we do not understand is why is it behaving differntly on backend v/s portal.

Thanks for your reply. Yes ESS has its own FMs. The UI, user exits, BADIs etc are different for backend v/s front end.
What we are not clear with, is the different behavior in core functionality -- i.e. When the adjustment reason is processed from the backend using HRBEN0001 - The 2 plans within the Plan Type are available for elections. BUT the same adjustment reason for the same penr when processed from ESS - there is just one plan available for elections.
It's clear from the code, that it is deleting one plan and this code is within the FM which is called only from ESS. But we are still not sure why it should behave differently i.e. 2 plans via backend v/s one plan via ESS.
Wanted to see if anyone can share any information if they have a similar benefits set up .. 2 plans within one plan type FOR savings plan category and then having a adjustment reason set up.

ESS Benefits open enrollment - Issue

When we click on the benefits open enrollment link, we do not want some of the plans to be displayed to the ess user. Is there any way to control it ( SPRO or BAdI ).

I posed the same question to an ESS consultant who responded with the following:
"The plans presented in benefits enrollment (PZ14) and Participation Overview (PZ07) are list output from ABAP. You can go into the program and select or exclude some of them based on certain criteria. I've seen customers extend the Plan infotype to add a flag field to make it configurable to show, not show a given plan."
Since specific instructions weren't given, I wouldn't consider the issue answered.
However, I can provide the following work around:
Due to the fact that different populations have different open enrollment period timeframes, and all populations have been configured under one benefit area...we decided to create an "Open Enrollment Adjustment Reason" for each group instead. Thus, the Adjustment Reason permissions will only display the plans we want the employee to see via ESS. Prior to the open enrollment period for the population, we will run the Mass Adjustment Reason report to create IT378 for all relevant employees. The OE offer will appear as another Adjustment Reason under the Enrollment service in ESS.

ESS - Benefits - Open enrollment (Concurrent employment is enabled)

We are trying to set up ESS open enrollment. After adding/editing/changing plans --> review enrollment --> Save.
On saving, getting an error "rfc_error_system_failure" on the ESS screen.
Checked with ST22 for the error details. The name of runtime error is "uncaught exception" and the exception is "CX_HRPA_VIOLATED_PRECONDITION".
Based on a Similar thread on the forums --> Link : [Re: CX_HRPA_VIOLATED_PRECONDITION using HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION to insert rec; and Sap note # 493984 , the error seems to be related with concurrent empoyment.
Analysis:
1. If CE is disabled, there is no error - open enrollment works fine both in R/3 (HRBEN0001) and via ESS
2. If CE is enabled," open enrollment" in R/3 using HRBEN0001 - there is no error.
3. Error occurs only when "open enrollment" is accessed through ESS, when CE is enabled.
Would like to know if some one can share their experience on using ESS open enrollment when CE is switched on?
Version details: ECC 6.0 (support pack level 22 for SAP-HR and EA-HR), EP 7.0 , ESS BP 1.0

IMG Customizations For ESS In ECC 6.0

Hi Gurus,
I'm stuck with some IMG customization issues. I can see the Overview page and each area group pages for diff applications. Like Employee Search, Personal Information etc. But whenever i'm clicking on the links it is openning up a blank screen.
Please give me some example how to configure the server in IMG like its path, port etc? Apart from this any examples for service creations for each application.
According to SAP help material i also cant find any place to put the System ID in the iviews like Who Is Who, Change Own data!
Please help me out! If any one can share any document it will be great.

    Although there is excellent material around and even step-by-step guides for configuring and customizing the Homepage Framework (*see the document "XSS Homepage Framework for Employee Self-Service" by Sibylle Borhauerm-Product Manager, SAP AG), I have found nothing available that provides information about customizing the actual icons/images that are used within the framework. Therefore, I took the DIY (do-it-yourself) approach and decided to put together a document of my own to hopefully help others. The following is an explanation about how to customize and/or add new icons for the Homepage Framework. This is based on my experience with ECC5.0, but a similar approach should work for ECC6.0.
Background
    The Homepage Framework is a new feature as of ECC5.0 (mySAP ERP 2004 for those that want to be thoroughly confused.haha). It is basically a means to build very informative, aesthetically consistent web pages solely through configuration in the IMG (no web coding needed!). It allows you to organize information in a more user-friendly manner. For example, prior to this, ESS services were typically listed as links on a menu on the left of the browser window (like the detailed navigation area of the portal). The user would click the fairly non-descript link and be taken to a web application that contained even less helpful information or description and was more techy in appearance. This was not very friendly or intuitive to end users who may not have much familiarity with computers at all. Often times, I would have to build static web pages for clients that would serve to provide help information to the user about what the actual ESS links would do and so forth and to serve as a jumping off point. With the Homepage Framework, you can configure (againno coding!) a jumping off page that summarizes all the areas you offer in ESS (called the Area Group page in the Homepage Framework), and then configure more detailed information pages for each area as well (called Area pages in the Homepage Framework).

Where is my Framework?
    With any framework, as the name implies, there is a fairly rigid layout. This insures consistency amongst the pages. For the Homepage Framework, each area is assigned an icon. The icon should visually convey the idea of the area. For example, for an area for Working Time, you might use a clock icon. The icons assigned to each Area appear on the Area Group page as well as the respective Area page. By default, there are only a small number of out of the box icons that are provided. I took the time to document the default images and their corresponding resource name in a spreadsheet. An image of this appears below:

The big question (and one I see asked over and over) is "where does all this stuff live?". This is one of the misconceptions and/or hurdles to overcome in understanding the newer ESS/MSS SAP offerings. With ECC5.0 and higher, most people incorrectly assume that by installing/deploying the ESS/MSS business package(s) that they suddenly have all of ESS/MSS available to them. Wrong. It's an easy mistake to make because "that's how it's always been before". The actual deployment of the overall solutions for ECC and onward requires two pieces. You still deploy the business package, but the business package only covers the portal objects. All you are doing is loading in the out-of-the-box iViews, worksets, pages ,roles, etc. Now what will your iViews talk too? The second part is the actual ESS/MSS/XSS services, ie. the applications that "do stuff". At the moment, these are Java Webdynpros and are part of the "Java XSS Components" installation. These components can be installed on any WAS/NWAS, but typically they are deployed on the same server as the Enterprise Portal...just more Java web applications running on the Java engine (again, they could be deployed to an entirely separate WAS/NWAS but we won't get into that). Part of the Java components installation is the Homepage Framework WebDynpro and the accompanying icon images as resource files. The images are not in the Business Package, and they are not not in the backend SAP system. Both are common misconceptions.
Make it your own!
    So now that we know what we are working with and where everything is, how do we change it? First, let me offer this advice. I would not modify and existing icon (replace clock.gif with a different image named clock.gif. I always create my own custom images. In that way, if all else fails, we still have the SAP delivered content. Better safe, than sorry! as my grandfather, an explosives specialist, used to always say. With my word of warning offered, onward we go now. Let's do this through an example. Say for instance, we want to change the icon used for "Working Time" in ESS. The default icon and Area page might appear as:

If we look in configuration, we find that the icon used is actually assigned to two resources:
     EMPLOYEE_WORKTIME_PIC
     MSS_HCM_AREA_ATTENDANCE_PIC
Since we are changing the ESS one, its configuration appears as:

Now, lets say we have our own image:

First, we can change configuration of the resource to now use (look for) our custom image:

Now, we must actually put the image in the location where the Homepage Framework can find it. As I said before and want to make clear once more, the images are not in the Business Package. They are deployed as part of the Java XSS components. Therefore, we must place our custom image out in the same physical directory that the other resources were deployed to during the installation of the XSS Java components. Using our example, let's look at the "clock" image. I could go into detail telling you where and how this is found, but I prefer to show you the simple way. In your browser, navigate to the Working Time Area page as shown above. If you right-click on the default icon and then select Save Picture As from the context menu, a window will pop-up showing you the name of the image file as calendar_clock.gif (we also know the file name from the configuration of the resource shown above). Now that you know the actual name, you can simple do a View Source on the page and then search for the occurrence of calendar_clock.gif . Doing this, we see that it is deployed and linked to the path as follows:
    ../../../resources/sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/Components/com.sap.xss.ser.xssmenu.vc.areagroup.VcXssMenuAreaGroup/calendar_clock.gif
Therefore, we simply need to move/copy our own myCompany_clock.gif into the path:
    ../../../resources/sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/Components/com.sap.xss.ser.xssmenu.vc.areagroup.VcXssMenuAreaGroup/
This may require additional help if you do not know where (what server) the Java components were installed on or you do not have direct access to those directories. With the file copied over and our configuration changes to the backend resource to use our custom image, our Working Time Area page now displays using our custom icon:

Gotchas!
    These are a few things to be aware of if you have problems seeing your custom changes (these apply to any changes to the Homepage Framework configuration):
     Make sure you have copied your configuration to the correct client that is in use. Typically, you will configure in one client and then test in another. You can use transaction SCC1 to copy client-to-client transports, if you have access to that function. The Homepage Framework config is client-dependent.
     If you do not see changes in the portal immediately, it is typically due to the cache not being refreshed. You can do this via the System Administration - >Support area of the portal for the PCD content. You can also set a parament to clear the buffer directly on the iView for the Area and Area Group iViews but this is not suggested for performance reasons.

"Edit Personal Profile" - ESS Benefits

Hi
We have a requirement to open the "Edit Personal Profile" in ESS Benefits "New Hire Enrollment" (GAF) in place rather opening in external window. I changed the property in the launchpad ESS/MENU for the "Personal Profile" under Benefits Enrollment to Force Inplace or Inplace but it is not taking effect in portal. Still opens in the external window. Am I missing something or it is handled by the code? Any suggestions would help.

typically its meant to launch a new window 1926925 - READ_ONLY_PERSONAL_PROFILE in ESS Benefit Enrollment WDA its coded in the code, so above changes wont take effect in ESS/MENU Webdynpro component:HRESS_C_BEN_ENRL_CONFIG met:ON_EDITCLICK ls_parameter-value = 'EXTERNAL'. change it to ls_parameter-value = 'EXT_HEAD' in both the places. check here if you can get more information on this http://scn.sap.com/thread/3508230

CUSTOMIZED BENEFITS ENROLLMENT FORM NOT PRINTING PROPERLY

I customized the benefits enrollment form HR_BEN_ENRO and I am trying to print the form in HRBEN00CEWB but only the first page is printing and not all the plans are showing up even if th employee is enrolled in more than one plan.I dont know on what basis its getting the information and showing up.When I do a print preview of the form in SE71 the form shows up all the pages but when i goto transaction HRBEN00CEWB its not printing all the pages.Its just printing the first page even in print preview.i didnt modify the standard program.I modified the form and assignmend to the print program in the config.Any solutions??Please help

May be because the Main window is placed halfway in the second and third page. If you are using a single page may be you have restricted other windows by specifying conditions "only on first page".
To rectify this you can copy the first page into second page and altering the position of the main window. Now assign the next page of first page as second and next page of second page as second page itself.
Revert back if you have doubts.

ESS Benefits error - No entry for period parameter 04/payroll year/payroll

When I click on Annual Enrollment link under ESS Benefits section, I get an Error from Standard WebDynro Application - No entry for period parameter 04/payroll year/payroll period. What config could be missing in the R/3 ?

Employee assigned Payroll area (refere to IT0001- Org Assignment) not moved into prd Payperiods. And as per you Payroll area assigned to "00", Ask your payroll consultant assign payroll area period parameters and generate periods through T.code "OG00"

ESS- Open Enrollment quick link - no plan selections

I've enabled the Open Enrollment Quick link in Benefits and Payment. When I execute it, I get the error message
"No plan selections could be prepared for the specified enrollment reason. Contact your Benefits Administrator for assistance"
R/3 and ITS both display the enrollment plan choices without an adjustment reason of OPEN. Why can't the Portal ESS find them?

This is pretty old but still for the people who will be visiting to this thread just like I did.
We had a same issue... I have checked Web Dynpro java application for benefits enrollment and it shows this message when it has ZERO plans to show in open enrollment.
Then I did debugging in ECC Function modules and found why it is not sending any benefit plans even though user has them in Info type 168 (insurance plans).
It could be any reason for plans not to populate, our reason was user have Vol Spouse Life insurance and Voluntary Child Life Insurance but they dont have Spouse and/or Child records in Info type 21.
So, this error will show up when there are ZERO plans / records to show in portal. Find your issue why by debugging.

CA web enrollment page is not shown in windows server 2008 R2 Datacenter edition

on a windows server 2008 R2 Datacenter, i have installed ADCS (including web enrollment), & every thing is ok.
but when i connect to CA web enrollment page to request a certificate for my web server, when i select advanced certificate request, system doesn't show the page which we select which register our name & specification & we select which certificate
template do we want. instead it shows the page
in windows 2008 R2 enterprise edition this problem doesn't exist. also in standalone CA web enrollment page this problem doesn't exist.
any help pleas

forget about enrollment web pages. With Enterprise CAs you should consider to use Certificates MMC snap-in:

Hi Siddharth & Jwala,
the issue got fixed, by changing the order of Payment above the Benefits
1. i made some options to be disabled & enabled in both benefits and payment
2. Then in the portal i could see the benefits and payment
3. inside the benefits & payment i was able to see two option 1 is for benefits & other is for payment
4. we only wanted payment functionality to be displaying
5. so i tried to hide the benefits then noting was getting displayed in the portal
6. finally i changed the order of the payment just above the benefits
then then i was able to see the benefits and payment inside that i was able to see the payment where i was able to see the payslip
i am not sure what i have done but i is working but please let me know what the problem was actually

How can i customize portal's Approval Detail Page?

I wonder how can i customize the portal Approval Detail Page? I got to know tat the package script is wrapped and cannot be unwrapped. So I am thinking to add smth like a link in the page for the mailto function. I was asked to send an email notification to the top management whenever there's smth new added approved.
where can i locate the page? or... where's the script to generate the page? Can someone suggest me?

In SP3 you can get a DesktopBackingContext, from which you can get the desktop's definitionLabel or title. Perhaps that will work for you?
