Reg: Display of Navigational attribute in report

Hi All,
I have a report built on the multiprovider which contains two cubes say CUBE1 and CUBE2.
I can see two rows in the report; each row corresponds to these cubes.
I have customer field and a country field in the report. Country field is maintained in the master data of the customer and is a navigation attribute in the report.
I can see the Customer filed in the report output but the country field is not showing any value.
Country field in the customer master data.
Please provide your inputs, why I am not getting the values in country field.

Hi Vijay,
Check the following.
1. Check if the data is available for country field in the customer master data.
2. Open cube 1 and check in the navigational fields, Contry is marked or not. If you want to use it in the report, Country field which is in a customer master data, should be marked.
3. Same way check in cube 2.
4. Open your multi provider, mark this navigational attribute if it is not marked, and assign it to the cube by right click-> identify.
if the data is avaialble in the master data, your problem will be solved.

This works fine for "powerusers", but for informational users you have to create your own naming conventions for all navigational attributes which are not unique. For example 0COUNTRY may be a navigational attribute of 0CUSTOMER, OSOLD-TO, 0SHIP-TO, 0BILLTOPRTY, 0PAYER. To make the text clear for your users in reports name it CS Country, SO Country, SH Country, BT country, ... as 0COUNTRY could also be a characteristic from the document.
This means quiet some work especially if you have a multilingual installation, but the information users will be very thankful.

Path Not found error when try to drag Navigational attribute in report

Hi Gurus,
I have created report on Multiprovider. When I try to drag navigational attribute in report getting error path not found.
I have checked Following and it's Proper.
1) Multiprovider is active
2) whether Navigational attribute is identify assign in cubes.
3) whether sid table thr for info-object.
4) I could see data in Multiprovider as well as in Cube
I created report on cubes also and getting same error.
Please suggest.

Please ensure that the navigational attribute is checked at the attribute level and also at the Infocube level and also check that correct mapping of this navigational attribute is done at the Multiprovider level.

How to see Navigation attribute in Report

Hi ,
I am working on BI7.0.
In my Query , material is a characteristic which has 3-4 Navigation attributes. But when I execute the report , I can only see Material data displayed (because only material is in the rows). I also want to see data of its attributes in report results. I dont have authorisation to change the query.
Also I am unable to open the Query in Local view (some connectivity issues).
Can you please suggest How I can drill-down those attributes.??
Also these attributes are not visible in free characteristics.

Hi there,
To use the navegational attributes with drill down, they have to be available in either rows, columns or free characterisitic.
For that you have to edit the query. There's no other way.
But each navegational attribute is also a display attribute.
Therefore, you can after executing the query, right-click over material and select properties. You'll see a tab named attributes where you can add the avilable attributes to the left (so they will be displayed), and change the settings of each one of them (see only key, key and text, etc.), but you can't filter by any of those attributes, or do any drill down options over them. They are only display attributes.

# values for navigational attributes in report . (Urgent)

I have a navigational attributes for time dependent master data. In the report I am not able to see values for that navigational attribute. I see # values for the navigational attributes. I checked the master data of main info-object. every thing looks fine.

Check the following two things again just to make sure you are doing everything right. These are already mentioned by Bhanu...
1) Go to the master data table (Q table or the M table) and check to see if there are M version records (OBJVERS = M). If yes, you need to activate the master data using the program RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN (Change Run). If there are no M version records then check the second step
2) If you do not enter any key date in the query, it takes the system date as the default key date. So check and see if any master data exists for today's date ?
Also just curious, which version and support pack level are you on ?

Attributes are not displaying in Navigational Attributes area of DSO.

I have created a DSO and have included Info Objects 0SOLD_TO & 0SHIP_TO. In the Navigational Attributes area, its attributes are not getting displayed even though the attributes are in the info object.
What are the steps needed to perform for it to display there?

Hi Shreem,
If you want attributes of any master objects in navigational attributes section, you have make them navigational attributes while defining base info object.
Please follow the below steps.
1) goto RSA1, search for 0SOLD_TO & 0SHIP_TO info objects and open them
2) goto edit mode of info object and goto attributes section.
3) here you will find for every object "DIS" --- this means these attributes are display attributes.
4) If you want to change any attribute to NAV, then click on "Pencil Mark".
5) Now you can see text NAV instead of DIS for that attribute.
activate the info object and goto DSO, now you will see that attribute in navigational attribute folder.

Navigational Attribute in Reporting

Hi experts,
Suppose I have created one attribute as navigational attribute in my infoobject characteristic.This Characteristic is in Infocube.
Now after executing query on this infocube,Can I drilldown from thic characteristic to Navigational attribute to analyse my results more?To achieve this,is it necessary to Switch On my navigational attribute in Infocube?or Can I achieve this even without switching navigational attribute in my infocube?

I am thinkiing of creating hierarchy manually from top to bottom by creating one characteristic and adding it as 'external characteristic' in hierarchy tab of my infoobject characteristic which has this hierarchy..Is this an option?Can I still drilldown and see detailed analysis in my reports?

I need to display page number in " page no: X of Y " format where X is current page & Y is total number of pages. Now I am able to display only the current page using ' sql.pno '. but not able to display in ' X of Y ' format.

If you have the above requirement for Oracle Reports then follow the steps:
1.In the Paper Layout view or Paper Design view, choose InsertPage Number.
2. In the Insert Page Number dialog box, choose from the list the location for the page number.
3.Click the desired page number format: Page Number Only or Page Number and Total Pages.

Navigational Attribute is not properly displaying

Hello,
We have a "Sales Group" navigational attribute YCUST_SAL-YSALE_GRP in a BW report. We have adjusted a sales group for a customer in R3 from F10 to E49 and hte same has been pulled to BW side,.
we have activated the master data manually and we are able to see the new data is available against the customer.
But when we refresh teh report, for that customer we are able to see only F10 as the sales group,.
For cross check, we have sales group display property also. where we are able to see E49.
Please let us know why we are seeing inconsistency between display and navigational attribute for a same infoobject.

It seems Master data is not activated properly....
Whether the query is fetching data from Aggregates, if so you have to do Attribute changerun for this infoobject
goto SE38 and run this program RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN it will Info object name...Provide your info object and execute...

Navigational Attribute as Text Element

Hi...
I have a report which shows list of Titles in the first column and the corresponding amounts based on several account and profit center restrictions in the further columns.
Titles basically are movie names.
Titles have navigational attributes like Video Release Date, Theatrical Release Date. These navigational attributes can be displayed in the report. But, the user doesn't want to display them in the report. He wants them to display them as the text elements.
As we are neither using a filter nor variable on these navigational attributes, these are not being shown as text elements.
Is there any way, I could show these navigational attributes for a given title as text elements?

Ok, let's make this simple. I have a Title: 9381780, which has navigational attribute, Theatrical Release Date: 01/09/2004.
In my query definition, I have this title restricted by this value 9381780 and the navigational attribute in the rows panel.
Now, the query displays me the both the Title and it's navigational attribute as columns in the report.
But, if u see the text elements, I see only Title: 9381780, because it's a filter.
I cannot see the navigational attribute, Theatrical Release Date: 01/09/2004 in the text elements because it is neither a filter nor a variable.
I want to display this navigational attribute, Theatrical Release Date: 01/09/2004 in as a text element.

Navigational Attribute change

Hi Gurus,
I have one requirement like the below.....
One info object contains 15 attributes...and this is used in few data targets also.
From this info object I would like to change one attribute from display to navigational attribute, will it be affected the data targets if i change the attribute from dispaly to navigational.

You will not have any impact on changing the Attribute from Display to Navigational.
This will not make any changes to the Datatargets.
But if you want to amke Nav to DIsplay it will make the Datatargets to Inactive where and all that infoobject is used.
Before doing that do think its necesary or not and then proceed, hope you may be looking out for the usage for the usage of drill down option for that Attribute in the report

Virtual infoprovider with services - Navigational attributes

Hi all,
I have a basic cube in BI system- X , and created a virtual cube in another BI system Y with services to read data from basic cube of BI system X . In BI system Y we built a report on virtual cube. This report (on virtual cube in BI system Y) is using a characteristics say Product group ( which is a navigational attributes of prodect in BI system X).
DataFlow is as under:
Basic cube in BI system X:
Product
Year
Amount
and Product group is switched on as navigational attributes in this basic cube.
Virtual cube in BI system Y:
Product group
Year
Amount
Report in BI system Y:
Product group in rows
Amount in column
This report is not working.
If I do the the following changes as follows then it works:
1.Use Product instead of product group in report
2. Switch off navigational attributes in basic cube.
We are in BW 3.5 and navigational attributes option is ticked on for virtual cube.
In summary, If I do not use navigational attributes in report and switch off navigational attributes from basic cube then report shows data.
Could you please help me to figure out the issue.

Yes, I tried adding product in virtual cube as well but it did not work. Secondly, we do not want to add product in virtual cube because of data aggregation.
Most strange thing is that, once we switch on any navigational attributes on basic cube, function module stop working (paasing any data to virtual cube report). report says no appropriate data found. We are using sap standard function module "RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ_RFC". I debegged this code and no data in internal tables.
If we switch off all navigational attributes from basic/source cube this function module provide data to internal tables in code.
Why function module is behaving like that.
You guys experience/support/any clue will be appreciated highly.

Navigation attribute in the Alert Monitor

In the alert monitor in SAP APO the display table contains only characteristics and not the navigational attribute.
Is there any way through which we can display the navigational attribute also?

This is how we handled it when we had a situation similar to yours. Since the navigational attribute was also a BW info object , we pulled the value for the navigational attribute to APO-BW . We then put custom logic in the BAdI to pull data for the navigational attribute and display the same in the alert monitor.
Your ABAP team should be able to help you in putting the custom logic in the BAdI . To save the value to the info object you need to have an idea about APO-BW.

Navigational Attribute, no data in infocube.

Dear all,
I want to have navigational attribute for my infoobject 0orgunit which is an attribute of ZCREATOR. Here are the things which I have already done.
1.     In my infocube, I have navigational attribute checked under characteristics.
2.     In my infoobject ZCREATOR, I have navigational attribute as type NAV and not DIS under the attributes tab.
3.     Query again the master data and have manually run the attribute change run.
ohya, ZCREATOR is a reference characteristic of 0BPARTNER.
Anyway, in the infocube, when I load my data, the blue column which represents navigational attribute is empty. Is there something Im doing wrong? Please advice and thanks in advance.

You cant populate unless you derive the values in the update rules/transformations. The advantage of using nav attributes, is not to derive values on the cube level but will be able to use it on query level. If there will be a change in the masterdata, you need not go back to realign the data inthe cube if u r using nav attribute, as it would always read from the updated master data table.
2. in my query, i am using this charcteristics ZCREATOR__0ORGUNIT do display my navigational attribute, but still no data is available. its display empty field in the column.
a few checks:
is the nav attrribute available as a char in the query designer?
if so, when you expand the char, and click on the values - do u see any values?
if not the master data is not available.

HI,
In the same MetaData Repository Click the InfoCube the list will be diplayed ,search for the cube.Then select the cube and drag down there you will find more documents in the below table u can find infoobjects see the 3rd column will display the navigational attribute...x mark will be there for non navigational attribute...
