I'm trying to build a Deployment Profile for a CAPS project containing an XSLT Collaboration Definition. I managed to build the Deployment Profile previously with persistence turned off. After turning on persistence (Persistence for Reporting set to 'Yes' on the only Business Process in the project) and re-building the Deployment Profile I was greeted with an Exception dialog containing the following:

XsltCollaboration code file path

exceeds 255 characters. Shorten XsltCollaboration name or recreate Connectivity Map with shorter name to solve this problemI don't think turning persistence on has anything to do with this error but mentioned it because that was the only change I made before re-building. Can anyone shed some light on why CodeGen is building in my local temp folder and not the Path which I have set in the Enterprise Designer | Build Options? Is this a completely different path?
FYI - I am using Java CAPS 5.1.2.

Change the Windows Environment Variables for the Temp folders to something like C:\TMP
Not sure but i've noticed that the folder specified for CODEGEN_LOCATION is ignored in older versions of JCAPS.

UNC Pathnames that exceed 255 Characters

(I manage folders and files only in my company. Another person serves as Sys Admin. It's complicated. Don't ask.)
I seem to have encountered an issue where some users of our shared drives have created directory structures so deep, and used verbose filenames, that they have exceeded the 255 character limit.
As a result, several folders and files have lost association to any owner.
Since no owner exists, I cannot manage these folders & files properly.
I cannot take ownership of them (have tried)
I have tried mapping far deeper in the folder structure to a drive letter in the hopes that would then place these files and folders within 255 characters. (doesn't help)
In the owner column, all I see is blank. At a DOS prompt I see ...
Any suggestion on how to regain control of these files?

Now that no one is the owner of these folders, system administrator has to log on to the server and set the correct owner to enable these files to be managed.

File upload gives invalid file name if file name exceeds 255 characters

We are using SharePoint 2010. I have arround 4-5 GB data that I have to upload to document library. That data includes documents (docx, xlsx, pdf etc) with very deep folder structure and long names that can not be changed. When I trying to upload that folder
through Windows explorer or Multiple File Upload or SharePoint workspace but it is not uploading the files with long names.
I know there is a limitation of 255 Characters but is there any workarround to upload that bunch of data!

Issue in Display PDF OutPut with Thai characters using OracleReports9i

The Report has Cordia New font for display the Thai Charecter.I am using the Win2000 OS.
The Oracle ReportsBuilder9i shows proper Thai Character,
but when we generate to PDF file the output shows as junk in Adobe Acrobat Reader5.0
The environment variables set for this purpose are:
1.REGEDIT Change:
NLS_LANG: THAI_THAILAND.TH8TISASCII
2.UIFONT.ALI Change:
[ PDF:Subset ]
Cordia New....="CORDIA.TTF"
3.Acrobat Reader Setting:
Edit>>Preference>>General>>Display
Check all the check boxes (smooth Text, smooth Artline, smooth Images)
If anybodys knows the solution or can give a clue to sorting out this issue, it will be very helpful.

SPOOL - how to display output list of more then 255 characters?

First of all, I would like to say hi to all of you here, as a new member :)!
I've just discovered this forum - I'm very new and let's say unexperienced in SAP, unlike you :)!
Didn't know where to put my subject (in what folder) so I apologize in advance if I'm mistaken... I work as an ABAP programmer in SAP Core and SAP IS-T and currently I'm worried about this problem:(!
We have these huge reports in IS-T that have to be run in background, because of lot of data. Most of reports are very wide and don't fit in those 255 characters that is SAP standard for spool display. Now I'm dealing with this RFC that has to provide spool display with 800 characters, and this has to be on production by tomorrow:)!!!!!
First I created new format type (ZX_65_800) in transaction SPAD and assigned it to my local printer. I thought this would be enough, but I was wrong. Because when I try to run my programe in background, the system doesn't offer me my format at all :(!
Is there anything else I must do in order to get it.... (I work in Release 620)

We have been looking for a solution for what I believe is the same problem, for more than 2 years now. I would just like to verify with you, if your requirement are similar to ours.
Problem:
1.     Requirement is to run large HR reports either standard or with Ad Hoc Query in background mode in a company with more than 50,000 employees.
2.     Nobody wants printed reports these days. We want to save the forests. Customers prefer to be emailed an Excel file so they can do further data analysis, filtering, pivot tables etc.
3.     Reports are running OK in foreground for smaller sections of the organisation, where you send the output to Excel from ALV, or save as a local file in spreadsheet format.
4.     But large reports for entire company are awkward, tie up your PCs resources, and complex reports accessing many tables can timeout before completion.
5.     So scheduling these reports to run in background would be the ideal solution.
6.     However when we access the report output from SP02, we find that most reports (say with more than 13 or so fields) have an output wider than 255 characters and the output of the spool file wraps to the next line in Excel. It is very tricky to then parse the data back into one row for each employee. And you have a problem if you output is for 50,000 or so employees, because then you file is 100,000 rows and will not load completely into Excel limit problem of 65,536 characters.
7.     We simply want a spool file that does not wrap the data to the next line after 255 characters.
8.     But how to explain this simple requirement to some technical people. It seems a lot of posts on SDN think we always want to print a spool file. NO remember the forests!
Possible Solutions:
I see a lot of posts here that refer to OSS note 186603, but they dont mention the target for the output of the spool is to import into an Excel File (i.e. spreadsheet format). Just search for 186603 or Spool request with more than 255 columns. There is also a reference to OSS note 313566. I am not sure if these will work?
I have also seen the suggestions that you need to define a customer printer format that does not wrap the output after 255 characters (create a new format type in transaction SPAD).
Did you find a solution yet to this problem, do the solutions above work, or can anyone else help us!

Spool List output display 255 char when the rpt is run in Background

Hi Friends,
I tried executing a program in Background.. The report output has more than 64 columns ( more than 255 char ) ..
Iam using "REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY" for displaying the list.
My Problem:
1. The spool list is truncated after 255 characters when i run in background.
2. Th output in Spool List is coming in 2 rows ... not very clear ... becoz of that the grid lines are not getting displayed.
3. I ve not used any Standard - line size for dislaying ..
4. In foreground i am able to display all the 64 columns... Y not in Background......
5. My Printer setting is ..X_255 .... only ...
Requirement:
1. What should i do to increase the spool list display to more than 255 characters
2. Or how to save the background run reports output to an excel sheet as how we 'll take the from the foreground.

You need to perform two actions.
1. set an appropriate format for the printer you are using. As explained from the previous messages you go to: SPAD -> output devives (type the printer you are using) -> from the menu ..-> goto -> device type -> formats. In there create a new format like Z_65_650
or Z_65_xxxx where xxxx could be up to 1065. This is the length of your report.
When you give your report in background, do not forget to choose the new format you created.
2. After the spool request is created, you take its number and use it ar a parameter in the following report.
Please copy and paste it in a new program, maybe called ZRSPOSHOWSPOOLLIST.
It should work then.

Spool output more than 255 characters

Hi ,
i am running a ALV report in background whose output is more than 255 characters . but spool is showing only 255 charcters.
Do we have any setting to change to display all characters.
Or any OSS notes that can be applied.

Hi,
You need to change the Format Type through SPAD transaction. The Format Type decides the number of rows and columns per page. By creating a new format type as per your requirement would solve the probelm.
Also, in the Report declaration, change the Line-Size to 300 or as per the width of your output.

I'm using ALV list(FM: Reuse_alv_list_display) in my report. When it is run in background, the output is sent to spool. The problem is the list is truncated after 255 characters.
Is there any way to display more than 255 characters in spool? So that it can be downloaded to a spreadsheet from spool.

in the report-statement you can define the line-size of your list. I expect, you haven set the line-size!
Try this one:
REPORT Zxxxxx line-size 300.
Normaly the program searches the the layout that fits to your selected printer (done by FM 'RSPO_LIST_LAYOUT_FITS').

Need Spool file 255 characters for background HR Reports into Excel

We have been looking for a solution for problem this for more than 2 years now.
Problem:
1.     Requirement is to run large HR reports either standard or with Ad Hoc Query in background mode in a company with more than 50,000 employees.
2.     Nobody wants printed reports these days. We want to save the forests. Customers prefer to be emailed an Excel file so they can do further data analysis, filtering, pivot tables etc.
3.     Reports are running OK in foreground for smaller sections of the organisation, where you send the output to Excel from ALV, or save as a local file in spreadsheet format.
4.     But large reports for entire company are awkward, tie up your PCs resources, and complex reports accessing many tables can timeout before completion.
5.     So scheduling these reports to run in background would be the ideal solution.
6.     However when we access the report output from SP02, we find that most reports (say with more than 13 or so fields) have an output wider than 255 characters and the output of the spool file wraps to the next line in Excel. It is very tricky to then parse the data back into one row for each employee. And you have a problem if you output is for 50,000 or so employees, because then you file is 100,000 rows and will not load completely into Excel limit problem of 65,536 characters.
7.     We simply want a spool file that does not wrap the data to the next line after 255 characters.
8.     But how to explain this simple requirement to some technical people. It seems a lot of posts on SDN think we always want to print a spool file. NO remember the forests!
Possible Solutions:
I see a lot of posts here that refer to OSS note 186603, but they dont mention the target for the output of the spool is to import into an Excel File (i.e. spreadsheet format). Just search for 186603 or Spool request with more than 255 columns. There is also a reference to OSS note 313566. I am not sure if these will work?
I have also seen the suggestions that you need to define a customer printer format that does not wrap the output after 255 characters (create a new format type in transaction SPAD).

In my program, i try to output a variable type c length 500 in the report. But this report still keep on display 255 characters only although i had set the line-size to 500.

when the output of a report contains columns extending more than 255 characters in length. In such cases, this set of ALV functions can help choose selected columns and arrange the different columns from a report output and also save different variants for report display. This is a very efficient tool for dynamically sorting and arranging the columns from a report output. The report output can contain upto 90 columns in the display with the wide array of display options.
The commonly used ALV functions used for this purpose are;

SQ01 Output fields having more than 255 characters

I need to show query output more than 255 charaters but system is not allowing

Refer SAP Note 857823, ALV grid cannot display more than 128 characters per field and will truncate all the characters beyond if it's an ABAP program
From my experience it will not display the field at all in SQ01.
You need to write an abap program and split the field into two fields of length 128 and display side by side.
Work around: If you cannot write abap program uncheck (no display in query) that field in SQ02 and generate it. Execute your query and copy the key field use se16n to input in the key fields and use import to excel sheet function to get the required data.

Problem printing more than 255 characters in report output and in the spool

Hi Guys,
I am trying to print one file in the report output and in the spool but it's priting till 255 characters only. If I try the samething while writing in application server and in peresentation server it is printing full content. I am giving the line size in the REPORT statement as more than 255 like 300 but even it is not printing. How can i print the full contents. Whether it is any basis related issue or in any settings can we do that. please advice.
