Hi All,
I want to get result from Emp table of oracle.
i have two queries:
1) I want to get Last Three Character of ename of 14 records from emp table.
2) Want to get Hiredate records from emp table in Month wise Descending Order.

Why -3 and 3 ?Because want to get the last three characters of ename.
For that -3 is enough.. ;)
And

Hi Srinivas...
I restricted the view with following selection condition.
JEST INACT NE 'X'.
After that i get like that 2 records.
Example:
EQUNR ESTAT AEDAT STSMA
000000001000000798 E0005 25.03.2004 ZE_00002
000000001000000798 E0007 30.06.2007 ZE_00002
But for that Equip number if i select the OBJNR and check the STATUS in JEST i have only one active record
050 IE000000001000000798 E0005 001
Actually then in the output u should get only record as said by you since u are getting one status value for objnr .....
Actually in our case for a particular objnr we got 6 status values out of these two status values are inactive... so we are left with 4 active status values we took thee four values and checked in text table and we got four values and in this there is one no display so we finally got three values....for a order...
we need to loop over the particular order and store all the status values into a single field ...
this cant be achieved directly through a view i gueesss we need to go for function module...
i has to implement this and i will gett back to you once it is done.....

How to order by a column not on the base table?

Best explained by example:
I have 1 block, base table is SALE. I would like to sort this block by PROD_DESCRIPTION which is not on SALE. I only have PROD_CODE (the primary key of PRODUCT which contains PROD_DESCRIPTION)
I am not running Enterprise Edition so I cannot create a view and use Instead-of triggers.
I would rather not have to re-write all my triggers because I want the default base table behaviour that forms provides.
Any ideas?

You need to create a function in the database with an associated
pragma to specify the level of purity of the function
WNDS (write no database state)
WNPS (write no package state)

Non DB item in a base table block, gives frm-40202 error.

Dear All,
We are using forms6i as a front end. To simulate the error, consider the following example.
1.Create a multirecord emp block.
2.Add a non database item in the base table block.
3.Assign any value to the non database item, in the when new record instance trigger.
4.When i say F7 or F8, my block asking me like, field must be entered. Which means, my record status changed to Insert. But there is no change in base table record, since i modified only in the non base table item.
Please validate, whether i am doing anything wrong in my technique.

If you have a value to be used as the default value then you can use "Initial Value" property in the item level for the Non Database Item. If you do this it wont give you any problem during the query. If you create a new record then the value which you have put as the default will come automatically.

Order by on Non-base table Item

Hi,
I have a base table block on Dept and some of the non-base table items(which are emp table and being populated through post-query).
So, i have some base table items and non-base table items on the same block.
No my problem is, i have to do ORDER BY on one of non-base table items..
How can i do this ?

The obvious answer is to create a view upon which to base the block, or alternatively you could use a FROM Clause Query so that you don't have to set the values in your POST-QUERY trigger.

Sorting by non-base table fields - Is it possible?

I have a form with a block that associated with a table.
There are several base table fields and several non-base table fields displaying information in this block.
I need to sort the data in this block by non-base table fields.
Is this possible without rewriting the form so that the block is not associated with a base table, and then manually populating the block?

Data Not loaded from ap_invoice_lines_interface to the base table

Hi ,
Please I'm working on Interface which load invoices from Cobol system to oracle , anyway procedure is working on fine & all data is loaded to the interface as i'm inserting 4 attributes which is DFF on the invoice line level
Now when i ran the import program all data is loaded to the base table except one of the attributes isnot loaded .
will anyone tell me what is the reason or how can i trace that ..........

ORA-01776: cannot modify more than one base table through a join view

I have created EO based on a database view than consists of two tables, and only one is updateable.
When I try to update a row using EO, I got a following message: "ORA-01776-cannot modify more than one base table through a join view"
In Forms, this issue is resolved by setting "Query Only" property of non-updateable items to "True".
Is it possible to do something like that in ADF BC?

When I set "updateable" property to "Never", that attribute is protected from any change.
I'm sorry for incomplete usecase.
I have set up a list of value on that attribute, because it is a lookup field for another table and I need to get an ID from that table.
Basically, I need that attribute to be updateble for BC, but not for database.

hi guys, my current problem is that i have a datablock based on a view, now all the fields bar 1 are updateable, but this one field that is obtained through a join is displayed, the user can enter data in this field which then pupulates other fields which are required, but this specific field should not be updated. Is there an option to state this as i keep getting the error:
cannot modify more than one base table through a join view
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Create a materized view without primary key constraint on the base table?

TABLE1 in remote_db doesn't have a primary key constraint. Is there anyway that I can create a materized view on a base table which doesn't have a primary key constraint?

Assigning a Value to a Base Table BLock Field

hi,
I have a form in which a block is a base table block . i need to change the value of a field. currently it shows the value of a field from the Table on which the block is based . I need to change the value of that field to display some other value of another table.
i have a written select statement like this
select name into vname from ws_emp where ecode = 101
then i have assigned to this base table field
:bt_person.ti_v_name := vname;
this i have created in the base table blocks Post query
but it is not assigning value
pls correct me and suggest me if there is any other better method to do this

That SHOULD work in the Post-Query trigger of the block, but doing that is never a good idea. By replacing a base-table field with any value, it causes Forms automatic processing to lock the row immediately, so no other person running your form can call up the same data. And it causes Forms to think you need to update the record, so the record's status is changed to 'CHANGED' from 'QUERY'.
It would be better to create a non-base-table field in the block, and put the name into that field.

and a customized table activated which is having a customized field with curr reference field as waerk of vbak (reference table).
Now while i am activating the view i have an error : the customized table is not a base table

Hi,
Try to create a view on normal application tables , and dont include any customizable table as base table in view creation. because those customizatable table can be maintained through SPRO only. So it wont allow you to include that in the view creation.
