  • ICal Server email invitations with external mail server

So I see lots of people have worked out the kinks to get iCal Server to send invites to external email accounts when using the Mail server on the same machine as the iCal Server, but who has it working when the mail server is somewhere else? Any help would be appreciated... I have setup it up like this:
    Email Address: [email protected]
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.mailserver.com
User Name: com.apple.calendarserver (I created this account on the mail server)
Password: Same as the one in my keychain for com.apple.calendarserver
    Outgoing Mail Server: mail.xyz.com
    Username: com.apple.calendarserver
Password: Same as the one in my keychain for com.apple.calendarserver
When I send invites, this is what I get in the logs:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Okay, got this figured out. Appears that the email server my client's company uses is terminating the connection when the Xserve tries to do anything. I setup a test Gmail account and used those settings instead and everything worked just fine.

  • Transparently replace an external mail server?

Is it possible to somehow configure the mail server to automatically connect to another server and download messages from there?
We have a corporate mail server that has severe mailbox size restrictions, and it is impossible to receive mails directly to our own server.
What I would like to do is have my users simply change their mail client IMAP server address to point to my Snow Leopard server and have their already existing username and password automatically used to retrieve the mail from the corporate server.
I don't mind automatically creating accounts on my server, because if the connection to the corporate server works, I know they are valid users.
Is this possible at all? Perhaps with a third-party software? (I looked but couldn't find anything).
(sorry for the double-post, got the wrong group at first)
    Thank you,

I am looking at a similar scenario.
My organisation is currently hosting 200+ email accounts on 2 external hosts, across 4+ domains. ie [email protected] is hosted externally by Rackspace and [email protected] is hosted by GoDaddy.
What I would like to do is migrate the email hosting - to our internal 10.6 servers. I have have approx 200 accounts across the two external hosts (4+ domains).
The advantages of this would include ease of automated setup and maintenance, as well as quota management.
Any advice that can be provided I would be forever grateful for. I am comfortable with email server setup and relay configuration, however a task of this magnitude seems quite daunting.

  • Reg: SMTP Mail server configuration

    Hi Experts:
Could you please tell me is it possible to configure to mail servers in the same ECC system, If it possible please tell me the steps.
    Regards,
    Kishorejak

    Hello,
my ECC 6.04 system says this is not possible:
... It is also not possible to create more SMTP nodes. The SMTP node only exists once in the system....
This is copied from the help text when i tried to copy the SMTP node in transaction SCOT.
So i think you have to solve this externally by some mail technique, but i am no expert in this area.

  • Sending Mail: To internal mail adress OK, external mail address KO

    Hi everybody,
I guess this is no XI/PI problem, but I hope some of you had the same problems.
When we are using mail receiver adapter sending an internal mail is OK but if we use an external mail adresse like mister.sample@gmx. de the mail is not received.
We used different external mail adresses to obiate that the problem is not the external mail server.
    We use inhause LOTUS NOTES.
The mail adapter uses the mail package.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Have to change mail server address when I go into office?!?!?

    Hi there,
This may be a more broad networking-type issue, but I thought I'd post here as it's mail in which I am affected.
When I am on the road, I have an IP address in my "mail server" settings (IMAP). However, when I am inside the office network, this IP fails and I need to manually change it to the internal IP address.
Does anyone know a way around this issue, so that I (and all the other mobile people) could simply have the external IP address of the company permanently in account settings.
I'm thinking some way of forwarding requests to the external IP to the internal one.
Someone please help, it's a small but remarkably annoying situation!!
    Thanks, Ben

This is not hard to fix, but requires access to your companies internet DNS server.
Most companies managed seperate dns zones one for interal and external.
The trick is to set up a External Zone on your internet DNS server. For example.
Your external mail server name is
    mail.company.com(65.21.21.11)
    and your internel name is
    mailserver.company.lan (192.168.1.10)
Add a new zone to your Internal DNS server for company.com
Add all the A records from the external zone to the new internal zone, but use the internal IP addresses instead of the external.
Then on your mail client you just setup mail to point to mail.company.com and DNS will do the rest for you.
This makes life simple on the users, but is more work to update DNS because you have to manually change the records in both zones every time you update a DNS record.

  • CMWS CANNOT SEND EXTERNAL MAIL WITH EXCHANGE 2013

Hi, all. i have integrated the cmws 1.5 server with exhcange 2013 mail server , now the webex can send mail to the user which in exchange, but cannot send mail to external mail server, how can i  fix this trouble? thank you.

    Hi Bin,
Please look into exchange configuration, as it is not allowing emails from CWMS to be relayed to the Internet. This is not due to CWMS configuration.

  • OT: Internal Mail Server

Anyone had dealings with internal mail-servers, specifically
    what value
are they to a small company of say 10 people?
Is it not just as easy to set up outlook/outlook express on
    those 10
workstations to recieve and send mail?
The question really is. What benefit are mailservers in a
    small office?
    Cheers,

Yeah it was becoming a big headache. I'd already tested email
    through
the conventional channels, outlook express and everything was
    running
smoothly. Then in comes this internal mail-server.
Anyway after several phone calls to tech support I finally
    got one that
actually knew something. The simple problem was a catchall
    email address
had never been intially set up on their severs, so nothing
    was being
    caught and sent on.
Damn silly mistakes take hours of my time to solve!

  • Mail server no longer receiving external emails

After a disastrous upgrade to Lion & then a full TIme Machine restore back to Snow Leopard, I've had some mail server issues. (Web services not working but fixed with this method).   Now noticed my server is now not receiving mail from external accounts...
Lots of posts suggested DNS problems but DNS does seem to be pointing some services to my server:
    - Webmail page is working but on login returns an error:  Error connecting to IMAP server: localhost. 61 : Connection refused
    - Mail Client log in works (but not with the 'mail.' prefix) & can send email both internally & externally.   External mail sent in to my server is returned with the error:  Host or domain name not found. Name service error     type=A: Host found but no data record of requested type
I'm guessing it might be an IMAP problem but I'd be very grateful if anyone could suggest what could be happening here.
    Details:
Domain & DNS  Web Log Errors   postconf -n    ps U postfix  .

Yikes...  Time machine doesn't back up mail.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=ServerAdmin/10.6/en/asafc284c9.html
You may be out of luck.  OS X Server shouldn't be backed up using time machine unless you've configured it specifically to back up things within it's limitaitons.
Personally I use TM to back up user home folders and Shared Drives.  Then use retrospect to back up Mail and OD.  Lastly I use a script that runs a MySQL dump every night to take care of the web server.

  • External Mail Flow not coming into Exchange 2013 Server

We just finished migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 and when I disable a certain receive connector on Exchange 2007 we stop receiving external emails. I have reviewed all of the Exchange 2013 Receive Connectors and everything looks to be fine
but the server does not get mail flow. If anyone could assist with this issue that would be great.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi,
According to your description, all your inbound mails cannot be received in your Exchange 2013 server after you disable a receive connector in your Exchange 2007 server. If I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to let me know.
If yes, since your MX record has been configured properly for your Exchange 2013 server, we can begin with checking the A record for the Exchange 2013 server and confirm if all external mails cannot come in your organization. And we can depend on the following
troubleshooting to narrow down the mail flow issue:
    1. Check the NDR information if there is NDR.
    2. Check Telnet to test the mail flow:

  • ICal server and external invitations via 3rd party mail server

    Hi everyone,
    OS 10.6.5 Server:
    Services running
    AFP
    DNS
    iCal
    Open Directory
    Push Notification
We are currently testing iCal server and have configured it to send out invites via our mail server (which is running on a different server) by creating the com.apple.calendarserver user on our mail server.
Email notifications are then configured under the Enable Email Invitations tab in the iCal service of Server Admin as follows:
    IMAP
    Email address: [email protected]
    Incoming server: mail.mytest.com
    Port: 143 (not using SSL)
    Username: com.apple.calendarserver
    Password: secret
    SMTP: mail.mytest.com
    Port: 25 (not using SSL)
    Server requires authentication
    Username: com.apple.calendarserver
    Password: secret
My test OD users are able to send out invites both internally to other iCal users and externally via email.
So for example, I invite someone to a meeting and enter their gmail address ([email protected]), the invitation goes out correctly - when I log into gmail I see the invitation.
When responding to the invitation (clicking Yes), the mail server receives the response from gmail and the iCal server collects the message via IMAP.
However, the iCal server doesn't seem to parse the received email correctly as I get the following error in the iCal error logs:

I have set a rule on our mail server to bypass any spam filtering for all messages sent to the [email protected] address, but this doesn't seem to make any difference.
Does anyone else have this working ? Any ideas ?
    Many thanks

The issue is not "user authorization". The issue is that the 3rd-party service does not accept all incoming relay requests unless there is authentication with a registered account (which we have). This protects the 3rd-party service from becoming the relaying host for the universe's spoofed and anonymous spam. My deduction is that there is no mechanism in UTL_MAIL to designate not only the 3rd-party ip-address:port (by-passing the local sendmail server) but also providing the username:password for the account there for authentication.
Plan A: I have attempted to follow directions for client-side SMTP Authentication for Relaying on the sendmail.org site.
I have not been successful in completing a simple mailx interactive test, much less completing a UTL_MAIL configuration.
I am scouring the user universe for someone who has put all the pieces together successfully and can advise. . . .

to clarify that I cannot get from UTL_MAIL to 3rd-party IP directly

  • Internal and External Mail Exchange servers server not communicating with IronPort

    Hello Support Community,
I have setup external mail exchange server and an internal mail exchange server to test out ironport, those two are not communicating via IronPort neither are they both recieving eachothers sent messages in their inbox, i have setup a smart host in both of those servers to point to ironport but thats still of no help. I have two smtp routes setup as well one's recieving domain: dummy.local which is external and its destination host: softheon.local which is internal which means its smart host is pointing to ironport's data 1. Is there something that im missing which is not letting these two mail exchange servers connect to each other as well as connect with the ironport to catch the msgs being sent
    thanks

Are you trying to relay through the appliance, or just email the appliance?
If trying to relay through the appliance, make sure the IP address of your exchange server is added to the RELAYLIST under the HAT (host access table) located under Mail Policies Tab - Host Access Table.  Click on the RELAYLIST and add the IP - submit and commit changes.
If you are just trying to email the appliance, you may be getting dropped at the handshake level based on reputation (or lack thereoff).
From your exchange boxes, open up a command prompt and telnet to the ironport on port 25 and initiate a command line email.
    So:
telnet IP-OF-IRONPORT 25 (hit enter, you should connect up and see the IronPort banner)
helo (type helo - from here you'll probably get dropped by the IronPort)
mail from: [email protected] (if you dont get dropped put in your email address)
rcpt to: [email protected] (put in the other email address)
data (type data and hit enter)
This is a test. (type anything, this is the message body)
. (when done typing, type a single . (period) and hit enter.  The email should send if you got that far.
You most likely need to add the IP addresses of your exchagne boxes to the WHITELIST under the HAT to resolve any reputation issues from your test exchange boxes.
    Regards,
    Chris

  • Send External Mail Through One Exchange Server Only

    Hello,
I'm very stuck on something & new to exchange.  I have two Exchange Servers:
    MAIL1: Windows Server 2003 & Exchange 2007 SP2
    MAIL2: Windows Server 2008 R2 & Exchange 2007 SP3
All accounts are going to move eventually to MAIL2.  Until then, I would like any external emails sent, to be sent through MAIL1.
So far all all internal mail can be sent & received, and any external mail received.  But I cannot send external mail from mailboxes on MAIL2 (just mine on MAIL2 at the minute).  MAIL1 works fine for everything.
Can someone kindly explain what I should do to get all external mail sent through MAIL1?
    Thanks,
    Stacy

    Hi Stacy,
We can just remove mail2 server from the mail2's send connector and add mail1 server to it.
Then we can send mails to outside via mail1.
    Hope it is helpful
    Thanks
