Hello Friends,
I have an issue with Hiearchy Extraction.
I am trying to Load 0WBS_ELEMT ( Hiearchy) data (Full Update) for the first time.Its displaying the following error.(Its extracted from SAP R/3)
Diagnosis
    The hierarchy level of the parent node must be one larger than the
    hierarchy level of the actual node. This is not the case for the node
    with ID 00075558 and its parent node with ID 00000001 .

    Correct the hierarchy level of the node or of the parent node in your
    source system.
Procedure for System Administration

When I tried to deploy my mapping, I am getting warning message <<VLD-2771: System privileges may not allow extraction from source D_UII_MV_NCA_INFRACONN.>>. As solution written in "http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jsp?forum=57&thread=252565&message=742299", I gave SELECT privilege on the source table to the target user. But still, I am getting this error message.
Can you please guide me in right direction?

p.s. the table "ORDER_ITEMS" is in "OE" schema. I had grant DBA to "owb904rr" and "OWBUSER".
then use "ORACLE_HW_RUNTIME" to deploy the Mappings "WH_ORDERS_MAP". What I need to do for deploy?

Anyone with similar experience using SQL Server as the source?
First I get: VLD-2771: System privileges may not allow extraction from source Product.
Then if i ignore the warning and deploy, i get
ORA-06550: line 15, column 18:
PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
I have a public database link to the sql server database.
When I create the mapping, I am able to see the tables and create the map. So why this problem when deploying. Which user is to be granted access to the source tables. I belive we cannot grant access to remote database tables using a database link. So what is the work around?

Am trying to load the data from the exisitng standard cube to one new ZCUBE.. The time when am loading the data. am getting the following errors...
- Data package processing terminated
- Error while extracting from source 0FIGL_C10 (type InfoProvider)
- ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 128 in tablespace PSAPTEMP
- SQL Error: 1652
- Exception CX_RS_STEP_FAILED logged

Slow extraction from Source System

Experts,
I'm on the basis team and we're trying to figure out what we can do to increase the performance of a BI extraction from an ECC source system.
Our BI team is doing a Full extraction of Data Source 0UC_SALES_STATS_02 which has about 24 million records. This has been running for about 2.5 days and has only extracted 12.5 million records according to RSMO
I'm no expert on BI performance, but I'm trying to get there. One thing we noticed is that we have over 1000 Data Packages and each has about 11K records per package.
RSBIW "control params for data transfer" in the BI system is set as this:
LOGSYS     -- Max KB. -- MAX Lines -- Freq -- MAx PROC -- Target Sys -- Max DPs
OURBWSYS -- 20000 --          0             -- 10    --        3            --     blank        --   blank
OURECCSYS -- 20000 --          0             -- 10    --        3            --     blank        --   blank
Also we only see one background process running on the ECC system which is the Zprogram that was written to perform the extract.
We also checked IMG - sap netweaver - BI - links to other source systems - maintain contrl params for data xfer
Freq/IDOC = 10
pkg size = 50,000
partition size = 1,000,000
We are on NWEHP1 for our BI system
We are on ECC6.0 EHP3sp5 for our ECC system
We use Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 with it fully tuned
We also think we have all the correct tuning parameters in our ECC/BI systems. There are a few tweaks we could make but I don't see any glaring problems. All our memory parameters seem to be in line with what is recommended.
We do not see any kind of Memory/CPU bottlenecks.
Do you think the many data packages and small records per package is a problem?
Any tips to increase performance would be helpful, I'm still looking.
I saw this wiki thread and it mentions to look at tcode RSA3 in ECC system to monitor long extracts.   But I have looked at this and I have not figured out what all needs to go into the fields to correctly run this.
Any help you can provide would be great.

HI Nick,
This problem is due to the huge volumes of data and the job is ruinng from long time onwards, normally we will kill the job if it exceeds more than 8 hours time while extracting the data.
Please suggest your BI Team to pull data in small volumes by providing selections in info package. This will drastically redcues the time for extraction of huge data and will also not consume all the resources in system.

2. And at your end look for the table spaces of the PSA tables, may be it is execeeding its capacity and make it as automatic. instead of manullay assigning the space at the regular intervals.

0GL_ACCOUNT. hierarchy extraction from R/3

Dear experts,
I don't know how to extract hierarchies from R/3 into BW.
I need to extract the hierarchy for the characteristic Account Number, which represents the insurance Balancesheet structure (VKIA)
What DataSource may I use? is anything useful within the BC?
Til now, I created 2 datasources (attr and text), which brought the master data from tables SKA1, SKB1, SKAT into BW's infoobject 0GL_ACCOUNT, but the hierarchies issue still remains, and I don't know how to proceed..
Could you tell a bit the steps? (i'm a novice...)

To find relevant data source for your master data info object, go to RSA1 -- business content-- select data flow before and drag you info object it will show all relevant data source for that.
Once u know your data sources, go to source system, activate them replicate and so on in BW/BI.
Do not create unnecessary objects in R/3 or BI just check for business content before you create Z objects.

Hierarchy extract from R3 to BI not successful

We are in the process of extracting 0ACCOUNT hierarchy from R3. Any of the hierarchies cannot be pulled.
BI receives 4 info Idocs with one indicating of no of data records to be pulled.
But, never getting a data package.
RSA3 shows records. It has only 1586 records.
Other extractions except for hierarchies are working fine.

Hi Gary,
The data flow is correctly enabled. The data packeges doesnot arrive BI at all. ( Not coming to PSA ).
Could not track using BD87 command. Data package is not getting generated in R3. But info idoc says of data availability.
Checked job log of R3. It doesn't indicate of generating data packages. Couldn't find any error message as well.
Following is the message from extraction node of BI monitor.
"Data packet 000001 had 15876 records selected for it"
But, with this messsage, the node is red, which has been timeout. Kept running for the whole day.
It should have come within seconds.

What is Extracted from Source Systems

Hi All,
is there a simple way of seeing if there is any data extraction taking place from a specific source system connected to BW?
Instead of looking at everything seperatly/manually I am hoping there is way to see if there is any extraction taking place from a certain source system.

For Status of purchasing document there is no base table .the avilable value are comming from Available Domain values.

System privileges do not enable extraction from source

I'm new to OWB, Also for this I granted select on source to target.
I'm using OWB10g/Oracle on Windows xp on same m/c(Local Host), I created mapping source tables emp/dept (look up on dept) and taget to dept_emp.
When I valaidate gives validation compled successfully, When I go to deployment manager, It gives System privileges (I granted select privilges using SQLPLUS), When I tried to deploy it gives another error Runtime owned by different platform.
What is the error, Pl help.

Reg: File Extraction from SAP Queries via background job

Hi ,
Is it possible to Extract a file to the presentation Server by running the ABAP Query's through SQ01 as a back ground job to generate a file automatically without running it manually.
I have tried recording the query's thru SQ01 with the File store Option to download it to Excel on the Presentation server.I have used CAll Transaction for SQ01 in the Zprg and submitted that Query to be able to download that Query in the mentioned path .The Zprg was executed via Background job.The file is extracted to the presentation server when the Zprg was executed via Foreground,but its not getting Downloaded to Excel Via Back ground job.
Please provide me the solution.

u cannot get file in presentation server.. in background..
if you are scheduling any background jobs it should be out of any gui interface.. like gui_dowload , gui_upload// ur need to replace then with cl_gui_fronend_services Class
or u have a option of writing file to application server in background using open dataset syntax.

Error while extracting from BI source

Hi,
We are facing a wierd problem:
Scenario:
Loading data from one DSO to another DSO with the help of transformation
The DTP fails at second data package each time. First data package goes successfully but it fails at the second data package) We have tried to vary the data package for e.g. 100 records, 5 records etc.....no matter what we do the load fails at the second data package with the following error message.
Error:
Data package processing terminated
Error while extracting from source EPUD0002 (type InfoProvider)
System error in program SAPLRS_EXCEPTION and form RS_EXCEPTION_TO_MESSAGE (see long text)
Unknown error in SQL interface
Error reading the data of InfoProvider EPUD0002
Exception CX_RS_STEP_FAILED logged
Workaround:
We tried to increase the number of data package size so that all the records can be processed in only one data package and the load has never to request for 2nd data package . BUT as the data package size is big it takes long time to process and never completes....

DataSource extraction very slow ( from Source System to PSA it takes 23 hrs

Friends,
We have enhanced the datasource 0CRM_SALES_ORDER_I with the user exit....after the enhancement i.e (adding the new fields and wrote some coding to enhance ...) the data extraction takes place for around 23 hours. there is approximately 2,50,000 records.
Can you please suggest any steps to tune up the performance of the datasource.
NOTE: Data Extraction from source system to PSA alone takes 23 hrs.once the data is arrived in PSA then the loading of data to cube is fast.

DTP does not fetch all records from Source, fetches only records in First Data Package.

I have a scenario in my BW system, where I pull data from a source using a Direct Access DTP. (Does not extract from PSA, extracts from Source)
The Source is a table from the Oracle DB and using a datasource and a Direct Access DTP, I pull data from this table into my BW Infocube.
The DTP's package size has been set to 100,000 and whenever this load is triggered, a lot of data records from the source table are fetched in various Data packages. This has been working fine and works fine now as well.
But, very rarely, the DTP fetches 100,000 records in the first data package and fails to pull the remaining data records from source.
It ends, with this message "No more data records found" even though we have records waiting to be pulled. This DTP in the process chain does not even fail and continues to the next step with a "Green" Status.
Have you faced a similar situation in any of your systems? What is the cause? How can this be fixed?

Thanks for your Suggestions.
Unfortunately, I would not be able to implement any of your suggestions because, I m not allowed to change the DTP Settings.
So, I m working on finding the root cause of this issue and came across a SAP Note - 1506944 - Only one package is always extracted during direct access , which says this is a Program Error.
Hence, i m checking more with SAP on this and will share their insights once i hear back from them.
