  • Do u use vista 32bit or 64bit software with bootcamp 1.4?

I just got a mac pro and need to use older pc software and will load vista.
macpro is 64bit computer but the bootcamp 1.4 manual says for XP use 32 bit software. Is this the same for Vista, or can I use 64bit vista software?
    Many thanks

macpro is 64bit computer but the bootcamp 1.4 manual says for XP use 32 bit software. Is this the same for Vista, or can I use 64bit vista software?
Bootcamp only supports 32bit windows and while you are correct that your computer is 64bit and can run Vista 64 its generally not recommended.
First the only real advantage to running 64bit windows is you have access to more ram. The downside is that unlike 32bit windows, 64 bit will only install Microsoft Signed drivers. This can be accomplished by searching the net, but until you get them all your computer will have less functionality.
Third (I cannot confirm this since I don't run 64bit vista) is that 64bit windows reportedly has issues running games and such.
Bottom line, problems with getting the drivers, running games just for a more maximum ram means little advantage to going that route.

  • I can't copy and paste anymore after installing 64bit software on 32bit system

I've installed an trial version of Adobe Indesign on my MacBook pro (Max OS X 10.5.8). I noticed that the programm could not be installed because it is an 64 bit version. Sadly I allready installed it and now I have a lot of problems. I can't copy and past files anymore. Also moving files from a folder to another folder is over. When I start applications most of them crash (Avid Media Composer, After Effects ect). When I open photoshop CS4.0 I get the following error: 'Could not import the clipboard because of a program error'.
Allso copy and past in Safary doesn't work anymore. I've tried to remove the com.apple.finder.plist file but dat doesn't work. When I reboot my mac and start up in safe mode the problems are still there.
Anybody an idea what to do?

Uninstall the incorrect version.  It should have come with an uninstaller.  Repair permissions, restart your computer, install the correct version, repair permissions and restart your computer again.

  • Movie not loaded on Win 7 - 64bit

    Hi all,
this question is in a similar thread as this:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4184624
However i have been unable to resolve this issue as the previous poster was.
i have completed 3 separate OS installs of windows 7 (2-64bit installs and 1-32bit install).  However i have been unable to resolve my flash problems.  Here is the details:
    System:
    -AMD x2 athlon
    -Asus m2-a vm motherboard
    -6gb ddr2 ram
    -realtek 1gb nic
    -xfx nvidia 9600gt
    - windows 7
    -IE 8/9 attempted
    -Chrome attempted
I have so far been unable to get the flash player to load at all.  I have tried to load the offline installer as admin user context, and no luck [when i say load i mean the flash player itself, installation of flash has succeeded everytime without issues as have uninstallations.] .  I have tried older installers with no luck.  i have also tried different browsers.  not one combination has worked.  I've tried clearing settings on the local 32-bit control panel.  However I can't disable the hardware rendering because of the fact it never loads the applet on any of the status pages for me to access.
At current, i have reloaded windows 7 64-bit and am looking for a more in depth answer to see if any ini files or reg settings exist for setting these to software only rendering.  However I am not entirely convinced that this is the problem.  I think the problem maybe more related to the player specifically not loading the movies or not even properly running the appropriate installed dll`s.
Before you ask, latest nvidia drivers loaded and flash is enabled in add-ons as many of the others have suggested.  Please help, this has eaten up a week of my mind now.
Also should note all MS important patches are installed as of 4/8/2012 - and Service Pack 1 is installed on Windows.  I've also just completed installing IE 9 on this fresh build of windows 7 64-bit.  I've also installed Chrome, this morning and it also received the error "movie not loaded".  I'm also using the latest version of 64-bit FLASH (11.x.x.x.x) version that was downloaded this morning.
So I'm now at a stopping point.  I cannot use Amazon at all, or Youtube.  It appears to load the plugin on some level as I can see the youtube videobox in black and then when I try to right click, it shows "About Adobe Flash 11.xx.x.x.x" or "Movie not loaded"... Thanks again for any assistance you can provide on this.
    Update:
After much looking on the forums, I'm now attempting to verify with another functional PC that the actual files are present.  I've found that the following files are present on the working system:
The system having the problems appears to be missing alot of these files.  The OCX is the only file present.  I'm going to see if I can verify what happened here.  So hopefully this won't recur.  However it looks like there maybe an issue with the installer at this time.  I can't imagine how thougth when I've tried downloading the full offline installation version.

This computer has two different versions of Flash Player for Internet Explorer and two different versions of Flash Player for other browsers.
    A clean install is recommended:
    Windows
Download the current 32 bit uninstaller    Uninstaller for 32 bit Operating Systems
Close all browser windows and run the uninstaller
    Restart Windows
Delete all remaining files and folders located in the following directories. (tip: copy and paste these paths into the path bar in an Explorer window)
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flas
    %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
    %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
Verify that the file “FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl” in C:\Window\system32\ for 32 bit systems has been deleted.
    Download the following installer files:
32 bit Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
32 bit Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Physically disconnect from the Internet and run the installers.

  • Migration question - 64bit to 32bit

    Hello All,
    I am currently running a 64 bit 11.1.0.7 db on redhat 5.4 OS. I created a 32bit 11.1.0.7 on Redhat 5.4 32 bit, same file structure as
my 64 bit host. I did a cold copy of my .dbf files from the 64 bit to the 32 bit host, db starts all looks fine. However, when I attempt to drop
a user or object (any user) on my newly built 32 bit db/host, the following message appears:
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-06553: PLS-801: internal error [56319]
Since I went from a 64 bit to 32 bit, is this causing me an issue? The only files that were copied to the 32 bit host from the 64 bit host were the .dbf files,
and they initially came from a 32 bot host a while back. Do I need to do anything possibly in Migrate mode?
Thanks in advance for your help..

As noted above, you simply cannot copy a database created by 64bit software and expect it to work with 32bit software. Pl see MOS Doc 62290.1 (Changing between 32-bit and 64-bit Word Sizes)

  • Cannot See ODBC System DSN's on Windows Vista 64bit in Crystal Reports 2008

    Hi,
I have installed Crystal Reports 2008 on my Windows Vista 64 bit PC and have setup an ODBC connection to my mySQL box which I wish to report on.
Crystal Reports however does not see the ODBC DSN's which I have configured.
I have installed the product on a 32 bit Windows system with no problems.
Is there a solution to this?
    Thanks.

    I have found the solutions;
My ODBC drivers did in fact install. Microsoft, in all their wisdom, has 2 versions of odbcad32. A 32 bit and a 64 bit. They are both named odbcad32.exe.
They put the 32 bit odbcad32.exe in the syswow64 directory. They put the 64 bit odbcad32.exe in the system32 directory. 32 bit apps will pick up the 32 bit registry setting and 64 bit will pick up the 64 bit registry setting. system32 comes before syswow64 in the system path so the 64bit software runs before the 32 bit software.
So, when I manually ran odbcad32.exe in the syswow64 directory, I was able to configure my connections and everything worked fine.

  • Where to find Win XP 64bit Power Management/Saver for Satellite M305D-S4830

I was able to fully load Windows XP 64bit onto my Satellite M305D-S4830 with all drivers.
Everything is working great except for my battery not lasting very long.
I have searched but haven't been able to find a working copy of Toshiba Power Saver that will work on my laptop with XP 64.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hi!
I think you will not find a 64bit version from Toshiba Power Saver.
Toshiba does not support XP 64bit so are no 64bit software available.
You must use the settings from Windows or you change to Vista 64bit. Vista has more options to save energy and its the same like Power Saver.

  • Photoshop CS5 64bit Directory Problem

I have recently tried re-loading my CS5 (64bit) software on to Windows 7 (64 bit)
My problem is that CS5 ALWAYS loads into the 'Program Files' Directory and not the correct one 'Program Files (x86).  This is depsite me altering the various areas to direct the loading to the correct area.
Bridge CS5 ALWAYS goes into the correct directory.
I have tried everything that I can think of to sort this out.  The only thing left is to format the HDD and start again!!!!!!
Can anyone help correct this problem??

That was a mis-understanding on my part; this has now been corrected. I am
    new to 64bit!!
The problem started when the attached message came up.  Irrespective of
where Photoshop is loaded this message comes up and Photoshop will not
    start!!
I wonder if there is something in the registry that is causing this????
Text version of the error message is as follows:-

  • X205-sli1 64bit windows 7 won't recognize sony camera anymore and SLI mode flicker

I suspect this is more a windows 7 driver issue than a laptop issue, but does anyone have any ideas?
    background:
so, started with X205-sli1 default a month ago, since then it has gotten... 4gb ram, dual 500gb drives, and a T9500 CPU  (was running at 85c when idle before so as long as I was redoing the heatsink compond I upgraded the CPU, now runs at 40c when idle and faster).... anybody need a T7250 that works? pm me.
afterwards formated and put windows 7 64bit on it...   since then loaded all the drivers from toshiba website and everthing seems to work fine except it won't recognize the sony DSCW90 camera as a mass storage device like it did before.  The camera still works fine on another system running ubuntu, so I know the camera/cable are good.
second problem, even with the latest nvidia driver I get a nasty flicker when I enable the SLI mode, seems to be driver related....
    Thanks,
    Robert
p.s. the instructions lorddethstalker's signature are spot on for how to do the upgrade... thanks.

I long ago learned when I do an OS install I do a clean one with a complete wipe of the drive... read the instructions and seems about right...
I seem to recall something from way back with a similar problem when I first got the camera... I just don't remember the solution...
Clean installs were the way to go in my thinking as well. However, because of some glitches like this, I would mention a couple of things.
Probably the best way to go, would have been to first have done a full system Toshiba Recovery of your Vista 32 OS, drivers, etc, to your system's factory default out-of-the-box setup. Nice and clean no messy software/hardware updates/installs to mess it up. Then, after that to have done an in place upgrade to Windows 7 32bit. I think you would have had the least amount of trouble from everything I've learned on this forum, and from my own personal experience.
Next, while I fully understand the hyped benefits of the Windows 7 64bit version, the reality can be somewhat different. First, though it has a 64bit capability, your system was originally designed as a 32bit system, supplied with the appropriate 32 bit OS, and as such, it can only take a maximum of 4GB or RAM. Despite your percieved benefit of seeing/using the full 4GB of RAM, this is probably, at the very least, un-done by the fact that your old 32bit software actually runs faster on Windows 7 32bit. If your system could handle more than 4GB of RAM, and especially if you were willing to invest in new 64bit software, it would have been worthwhile to install Windows 7 64bit. Otherwise, I sincerely doubt that it was.
The main chipset and its drivers are what handles the USB ports. If you did (re)install those, from the links I gave you before, there's not much else you can do there. While it is not the same problem you are experiencing, the only other suggestions I have is to follow the instructions in Method 3 of this article:
USB port may stop working after you remove or insert a USB device
Did you ever try the system reset I mentioned before?
    Good luck.

  • How to get Windows 7 64bit on Ideapad U450p?

I recently bought a U450p with 4GB ram but was very disappointed to find out that it was on 32bit Windows 7. I searched high and low on the internet on how I could have Windows 7 64bit installed instead but did not manage to find any support at all from Lenovo.
With Windows 7, both the 32bit and 64bit versions use the same license key and even the retail versions ship media for both versions. Users should and must have the option to choose which version they prefer. Even Acer ships the 64bit as default of majority of their new Windows 7 laptops. Saying that 64bit Windows 7 uses more memory is moot as there are definitely performance advantages from using new 64bit software that will be introduced in the near future (e.g. MS Office). Mac OS X has been 64bit for ages, it's time Microsoft PCs/laptops caught up!!
Can Lenovo please provide this option in the form of a one key rescue CD (in a downloadable format) with Windows 7 64bit instead of the default 32bit installed in the laptop? This would be very much appreciated.
A minor point is also the fact that it is almost impossible to email anyone in Lenovo for support issues. I've tried searching for a way to send this to someone in Lenovo online but came up empty. I should have done my homework before buying this laptop!

I have tried contacting the support line in the UK to get the 64bit media.  Straight forward so I thought, but apparently they don't provide 64bit media for the U450p.  I've phoned several times and to be honest, the service has been shockingly bad.  What is the point building a laptop with 4GB RAM if you can't use it all?
On top of that I can't even seem to escalate my complaint with anyone.  Tech support don't want to know and there doesn't seem to be anyone else to contact.  Can anyone give me details of a complaints department or anything?
The request isn't even difficult, I don't need the one touch recovery, just a simple undoctored Windows 7 64bit disc would be perfect.  If I have to lose several GB of HDD space to the one touch crap then fine, but at least give me something.
The ironic thing is that I chose Levono due to the excellent support I got when I bought a few hundred machines at work.  Seems the consumer side is a world apart from that service.

  • Does oracle 10g 64bit need windows 64bit to support?

    Must I install 10g 64bit on windows 64bit ?

Thead title is different from following question.
Not only on Windows: 64bit software requires 64bit OS, but 64bit OS does NOT require 64bit software. So you don't need to install 10g 64bit on windows 64bit, but you cannot install 10g 64bit on windows 32bit.

  • 64bit or 32 bit ?

    Hi everyone
I want to know if my imac is 32 bit or 64 bit. can anyone tell me how i find this out. I have no idea where to start. i have looked around but have not found this information.
    Thanks for any help

Keep in mind that 64bit processing is still in infancy and really built for quad cores systems with tons of RAM.
    {quote:}seems that I have a 2.66 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo bought early 2008. So from what I gather that is 64 bit{quote}
Yes it is and most of your OS X app's are already 64bit.

    {quote:}I want to run Adobe after effects.{quote}
Your current Core2Duo with 4GB of RAM will run Adobe After Effects CS5 in 64bit, but to really take full advantage of CS5 and other 64 bit applications one really needs a system that supports 10, 12, 16GB of RAM.

  • Re: Satellite A200-1DY: Is there difference between BIOS 32bit & 64bit

I have Satellite A200 laptop and i have a doubt and is if there are diferences between Vista 32 and 64 Bios. Or is the same Bios?
My question is because in the last days i installed Home Premiun 64bit but my Bios is for Vista 32bit but every works fine on laptop.
Should i change the Bios for 64bits or should i let 32 bits Bios?
    thanks

    Hi again ;)
I think there is a difference between both BIOS versions; 32bit and 64bit but please dont ask me what the difference exactly is. ;)
I didnt find any details regarding the differences.
I assume the BIOS 64bit supports some advantages of the 64bit CPUs and the 64bit software but this is only a assumption
However, I think you dont need to switch to the 64bit BIOS version if your notebook run stable and trouble free using the 32bit version.

  • Windows 7 64bit driver support for GX623

Hi, i have GX623 laptop (CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo P8400; RAM: 4GB ), i am interested why there is no Windows 7 64bit driver support for this model ? I really would like to run some 64bit software on it.
If my laptop hardware support it why MSI don't release drivers so my software can also support it. In some 32bit drivers there are some 64bit drivers but still not all for complete functionality.
On some older posts from 2009 I see responses that windows 7 64bit is very new so that's the reason for no driver support but in 2011 surely that is not the case.
Can we expect 64bit drivers for Windows 7 in near future or support for 64bit software isn't planed for this model?

So is it officially GX623 supported for Windows 64bit install because I still don't see any drivers for Windows 7 64bit or maybe Windows 7 64bit don't need any drivers?
Hello anybody here? Anybody working here?

  • Office 2013 - Win8, check registry if installed

    I had raised this question
over here, and was redirected to
here, where I was redirected to this forum :)
Here is the issue i am facing.
I am trying to detect if office is installed through registry. (Basically a registry check before installing our office add-in)
I am able to search for Office 2007 and 2010, in both Win 7 and Win 8 using the below mentioned reg Keys.
    32 bit app: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\InstallRoot" Path.
    64 bit app: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\InstallRoot"  Path.
But I am not able to check in Win8 with Office 2013. It looks like registry keys/values have been modified a bit here.
So How do i detect it here?

Yea, the "InstallRoot" doesn't exist anymore....they have seemed to change it to "FilePaths" but I wouldn't trust that.  For my reg query I'd use below to distinguish if Office is installed and which version(notice the beginning {9115 or {9114 for Office15(2013)
    or Office14(2010)):
    2013 32bit:"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{91150000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}"
    2013 64bit:"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{91150000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}"
    2010 32bit:"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{91140000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}"
    2010 64bit:"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{91140000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}"
You never know when someone might uninstall Office and it might leave over junk registry files.....by pulling the registry keys directly from Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features) you can ensure the program is either there or not.
Be kind and Mark as Answer if I helped.
I don't think this helps. On my system the uninstall keys are -
    2013 32bit:"...\Uninstall\{90150000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}"
    2010 32bit:"...\Uninstall\{90140000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}"
It starts with 901 on mine and 911 on yours.
    I have Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 - 14.0.6029.1000
Which version of office do you have?
