    Functional Development Specifications
    Some variations:
    FS - Functional Specification
    HLDS - High Level Development Specification
    FD - Functional Development
    etc.
    Basically it is documenting how the business requirement is in preparation for development.
    The above is typically further translated into TS - Technical Specification.

  • Problem in creating new implementation for filter dependent badi

    Hi Experts,
       I want to use badi NOTIF_EVENT_POST.It is a filter dependent badi. It is asking filter type while implementing thro se19. Could anyone pls tel me how to create new implementation for the filter dependent badi. Existing filter type is QMART. is there any problem if i change the filter type?
    Thanks in Advance!

    Hi ,
    NOTIF_EVENT_POST is filter dependent and filter values are based on QMART value in table TQ80. You need to specify the filter value ie : QMART value before implimentation , before that check all active implimentations for the same , if u have to impliment on same filter value , you need to deactivate the one which is implimented on same filter value .
    You are not supposed to change the filter type.

  • Here's a tough one: can Infotype data be loaded into a new implementation?

    We have an R/3 system that is going to be replaced with Netweaver; not upgraded, but a new implementation, and that’s because there was too much customizing, and we're only using the HR module.
    Can we load all of the infotype data from the old R/3 system into the new ECC system? Normally it is impossible to re-create all the history from a previous system in SAP, but for Infotypes, maybe? No?  Assuming that the infotype configurations are the same?
    I see infotypes as fairly static tables that are only added to by changes, or by certain actions.  No changes could be made to these older infotype records, but at least BW could extract all of these and present in an ODS a continuous view of history.
    Am I right? Is this possible to load up the infotype tables?
    I know there will be problems with double infinity records, but I think we can handle that one.

  • BI version to install for new implementation

    Hello,
    I am a technical consultant for a new implementation of BW with the requirement of SEM-BPS. We are considering installing NW2004s with BI Content 7.0. However since it is so new we are wondering about the stability. We are also not sure if we are losing any functionality with the latest version.
    My question is should we install the latest BI version or go with BW 3.5 which the consultants are familiar with and has been out there for a long time.
    Since BW 3.5 is part of Netweaver 2004, I believe it should be supported until at least 2010.
    Thank you, George Barta

    Hi:
    There are already more than 35 customers live on BI in SAP NetWeaver 2004s, with more than 500 active projects.
    You definitely should go with 2004s, as it can do everything 3.5 can do but so much more.  You can avoid an upgrade in the near term by simply starting with BI in SAP NetWeaver 2004s.
    You are not losing functionality with the new version.  As stated before, there is a 3.5 system "under the covers".
    However, note that BI Integrated planning is the new version of the planning application.  SEM-BPS will continue to be supported going forward, but SAP will not invest in developing it anymore.  Instead, all development resources flow into BI Integrated planning.
    Both SEM-BPS and BI Integrated planning are available in BI in SAP NetWeaver 2004s, you can choose which one to utilize (and can have a mix of the two running in the same system).  Note that there are no automated migration tools between the 2. Would be good to take the SAP going forward plan into account when determining your strategy.
    Thanks for the points -

  • What is the fi responsibility for new implementation project

    hai. gurus
    please give me complete suggestion about fi responsibility for fi module in new implementation
    bye
    pooja

    Hi
    If you will  see the phases of implementation in a SAp project like
    Project preparetion
    BBP(Business Blue print)
    Realisation(Base level configuartion,unit testing,iNtegration testing)
    Go live and support.
    During BBP stage you have to study the existing process of the client and suggest how it will be mapped in SAP.And the process which can not be mapped in SAP will be treated as GAP and may be solved through out side software or through ABAP development.
    Finalisining the Enterprise structure.The mapping of the org stru in legacy to SAP to be done here.Since for company thwo important statement are prepared at the yearend like B& S & p&l.These two statments can not prepared unless company code is mapped and assigned to other logistic structure.
    Integration testing is another important milestone in an implementation. In  this stage you have to see that the FI  T code is not only working stand alone but it also works in an integrated scenario.
    These are some of the scenario, where you have to contribute as a FICO consultant. Since the data flows from other modules of SAP to FI module ,  you should take care for that

  • Reg, Documentation for a  New Implementation using ASAP  Methodology

    Hello,
    Will you pl, help me in getting complete documentation (Std / Template)for all stages of ASAP methodology, for a new module. If you provide at least URL, it will be of great help.

    Hi Rao,
    The ASAP Methodology has five phases:
    1. Project Preparation – project formally initiated and planning well under way.
    2. Business Blueprint – project team gathers requirements and conducts conceptual design of the solution.
    3. Realization – system solution is built and integration tested, end users trained
    4. Final Preparation – final check before cut over to new system solution
    5. Go Live & Support – solution confirmation, on-going support in place and project closing

  • XI Implementation documentation

    Hi All,
    Before getting my team members into an XI implementation project, we would like to browse through some XI implementation documents.
    where can we find related documentation, that we can use as basis during the project.
    Our team consists of ppl from java background who got trained and xi certified from SAP.
    Thanks,
    Ganesh
    (g22sep)

    Hi,
    XI Implementation Methodology Worksheet
    The steps (1) through (4) can be viewed as prerequisites. They can be completed before the XI system is even installed onsite. This will greatly reduce the implementation time. Typically these are also the most time-consuming steps of the project. Multiple tasks can be done in parallel. This should be reflected in the project plan.
    1. Scenario Analysis
    Description of the business scenario to be implemented.
    What types of backend systems are involved (mainframe, SAP, etc.)?
    Is this a new development or a replacement for an existing interface?
    Deliverables
    High-level scenario description.
    Description of existing scenario implementation, if applicable.
    Description of XI-based scenario.
    Resources
    Technical architect
    Functional architect
    XI product expert
    Corresponding XI Activities
    Create entries in System Landscape Directory, as appropriate.
    2. Interface Analysis
    Is the interface synchronous or asynchronous?
    Does the interface require a technical or application acknowledgement?
    For each interface, identify the outbound and inbound messages.
    Determine data structures for each message type, as applicable.
    Determine flat file format or database structure.
    Determine IDoc / RFC / BAPI structure.
    Determine XML data structures.
    Provide data samples for each message type.
    Deliverables
    Inbound/outbound message structure definition
    Data samples for each message
    Resources
    Technical and functional analysts for each system to be connected
    Corresponding XI Activities
    Create interface objects in Integration Repository.
    3. Mapping Definition
    Based on deliverables from Step 2, identify mapping rules between each pair of interfaces. This activity typically requires the involvement of business analysts who have knowledge of the business semantics of each interface.
    Deliverables
    Mapping specification including source fields, target fields, and transformation rules. Typically this is delivered in the form of a spreadsheet.
    Resources
    Functional analysts for each system to be connected
    Corresponding XI Activities
    Choose implementation technology for mappings (graphical tool, XSLT, Java).
    Implement mapping based on business rules defined in Step 3 and interface samples and metadata defined in Step 2.
    4. Preparation of the Environment
    A test environment must be defined. If B2B integration (across the firewall) is involved, then network connectivity issues need to be addressed. This may include the configuration of proxies, reverse proxies, or other devices located in the DMZ.
    Preparation of the test environment includes, of course, the installation and basic post-installation steps of the XI system.
    If the scenario is to become productive, then a promote-to-production strategy must be defined and the XI environment must be replicated accordingly (i.e., DEV, QA, PRD).
    Deliverables
    XI system is installed.
    Test environment is ready.
    Network connectivity is established between XI and all participating systems.
    5. Configuration
    There are two parts to the configuration step: backend system configuration and XI configuration.
    Prepare backend applications for message exchange. The backend systems need to be configured to send and receive messages to/from XI. This configuration must be such that the application can produce or receive data samples such as the ones delivered in Step 2.
    Based on deliverables from Steps 1, 2, 3, configure XI objects in Integration Directory.
    Deliverables
    Backend systems are ready to produce and consume messages as defined in XI scenario.
    XI system (Integration Directory) is configured.
    Resources
    Technical specialists for each system to be connected
    XI specialist
    6. Testing
    The end-to-end scenario can be tested with different data sets. The testing environment has been prepared beforehand and network connectivity issues have been resolved.
    Deliverables
    Sign off on scenario.
    Resources
    Technical and functional analysts
    XI specialist

  • 5800XM v40 - new features documentation?

    Hi,
    first of all thanks to Nokia for providing the new v40 firmware for the 5800XM - great job.
    I've noticed so many changes (to the better) in many different details of the phone so that I'm wondering if there is any documentation available that describes the changes for the user?
    Changes I've noticed so far (not a complete list and besides the kinetic scrolling which is also great by the way):
    - auto-change to big qwertz keyboard when rotating the phone
    - new dialogs (and required user interaction) for meeting alerts and incoming calls
    - if you've started the player you can press the 'play' button at the remote to start playing music immediately (great feature, not recognized prior to v40)
    I'm sure there are more changes to the UI and it would be nice to have a user documentation for these.
    thanks and regs,
    beelzebubi0815

    You won't find an official changelog released by Nokia because they consider that to be confidential data.
    I have, however, documented what I found here: http://techyoddsandends.blogspot.com/2010/01/nokia-5800-xpressmusic-v40-firmware.html

  • Problem with creation of purchase order with new implementation.

    Hi Guru's of SAP MM,
    i got this error when i implemented a new company with all co-code, plant and storage location.
    i craeted the PO. even though i have assigned sloc to plant and plant to co-code. and co-code to purchasing org. it is telling in PO that,  the purchasing organisation not assigned to the plant.
    i checked regarding the org- structure with Enterprise Structure.

    Hi,
    As per your posting it is clear that you are maintaining purchase organization at company code level. which means the same purchase organization can cater the needs of all plants which are under that company code, provided if the purchase organization is assigned to the plants which are under the company code.

  • Help Required - Regarding New Implementation

    Hello Experts,
    Implementing a new SAP ... and got bit confused about the April 1 opening balances and March closure.
    On 1st March 2014 we entered the following Opening Balances -
    1. Open POs
    2. Open Sales Orders
    3. Stock Opening Balances
    Then for the month of March we have been running SAP and the legacy system in parallel , making the following transactions –
    1.       Sales Order (Invoiced in March only)
    2.       Deliveries
    3.       All AR Invoices
    4.       All Purchase Orders
    5.       All GRNs
    6.       All AP Invoices
    7.       No Bank receipts or payments were created. End of the month both AR and AP invoices will be Open for bank receipts and payments respectively.
    The main question is which transactions need to be created/ closed to have opening balances in SAP.
    (In other words ...
    What is required now to create the correct opening balances? Can we close the invoices, both sales and purchases, without creating receipts and payments, respectively?
    How do we need to enter the customer and supplier opening balances when we have already created all the invoices for the month of march?)
    Your help will be much appreciated...
    Thank you.

  • Reg : New GL Line Items

    Hi,
    We are implementing new GL and I did find out some information on the new GL Vs Classical GL.
    New GL :
    Total table : FAGLFLEXT
    Line Item table : FAGLFLEXA
    Clasical GL :
    Total Table : GLT0
    Lie Item Table : BSEG
    I have a question based on the above information.For new GL, SAP Has given 0FI_GL_10 datasource for getting Totals table ie FAGLFLEXT but no data source for line items.
    But we have a datasource for Classical GL Line items ie 0FI_GL_4.My question is , having implemented new GL, can I use 0FI_GL_10 for getting the totals data and 0FI_GL_4 for line items ?
    Will the line items data coming from 0FI_GL_4 be the same as the line item data in FAGLFLEXA ?
    Instead of creating a generic datasource based on FAGLFLEXA,what if I use 0FI_GL_4 for line items ?
    Will there be any issues in the future ? Anyone,went thru the above assumption.if so, Please explain the Pros & Cons ...
    Regards,
    Kumar

    Hi Roberto,
    I spoke with functional folks in my project and i got the following information.
    1.As per the talk, line item details are coming to both FAGLFLEXA and BSEG.
    2.There are couple of fields like XREF1,XREF2,XREF3,ZUONR, ACTIVITY TYPE etc fields are populated only in BSEG not in FAGLFLEXA.They also say, BSEG has all the entries that are posted in FAGLFLEXA.
    As per the discussion, functional folks prefer BSEG than FAGLFLEXA. I am assuming 0FI_GL_4 would pick up all the line item data from BSEG and I am not sure if there are any problems while reconciling with the totals table FAGLFLEXT to that of BSEG (using 0FI_GL_4) ?

    Hi Venkat,
       The code seems ok to me. you don't need to configure WAS to use JavaMail APIs. However, if this code doesnot work then check with the code given below as this is working fine.
    Properties prop = new Properties();
              prop.put("mail.smtp.host", host);
              prop.put("mail.smtp.auth", "false");
              Session session = Session.getInstance(prop, null);
              session.setDebug(true);
              try {
                   MimeMessage msg = new MimeMessage(session);
                   msg.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from));
                   InternetAddress[] address =
                        { new InternetAddress(to1)};
                   msg.setRecipients(Message.RecipientType.TO, address);
                   msg.setSubject(subject);
                   msg.setSentDate(new Date());
                   MimeBodyPart msg1Body = new MimeBodyPart();
                   msg1Body.setText(msg1);
                   MimeBodyPart msg2Body = new MimeBodyPart();
                   msg2Body.setText(msg2);
                   Multipart mp = new MimeMultipart();
                   mp.addBodyPart(msg1Body);
                   mp.addBodyPart(msg2Body);
                   msg.setContent(mp);
