IN tcode VL02N after giving the Outbound Delivery number selecting PACKING button there Iu2019m creating the Dummy Handling unit. But after creating the handling when i double click ok on the HU clicking on the Contents tab in that selecting line item click on the button serial number there i can see only empty serial numbers . My requirement is want the serials number based on items automatically .

You can generate alphanumeric serial number with the following BADI / Customer Exit:
Name of Enhancement : IQSM0001
Name of Function Module Exit: EXIT_SAPLIPW1_001
Name of Include : ZXQSMU01
ZXQSMU01:
This user exit can be used to create the serial numbers automatically for material of a production order. Number of serial numbers generated will be equal to the total number of quantity. The purpose behind development of this user exit was to attach prefix in each serial number generated.
so as per your requirement you can generate serial number like ABC0001 etc.
Process Steps:
For exit: EXIT_SAPLIPW1_001
1. Get serial number profile for a material in respective plant.
2. Check if the profile is u2018XYZu2019.
3. If profile is u2018XYZu2019 generate the serial numbers for the given quantity of material in production order.
General Program Structure
For exit: EXIT_SAPLIPW1_001
1. Get the serial number profile using function module 'MARC_SINGLE_READ' for a material.
2. Check if the profile is u2018XYZu2019.
3. If the serial number profile is u2018XYZu2019 then generate the serial numbers for the given production order quantity of a material.
4. Concatenate ABC as a prefix to the all generated serial numbers
Provide above details reg. implementation BADI / Enhancement to your ABAPer and go ahead.
You can implement above Enhancement in CMOD.

SHPCON serial number updates item on delivery but not item in HU

I am using SHPCON to update the item on delivery with serial numbers. After that I use SHPCON to pack that same item in a handling unit. From the pack screen I should be able to select the item and hit the serial number button and see the serial number. Instead it says there is no serial number on the item. I populated E1EDL11 under E1EDL24 to get the serial number on the item. I also tried during packing populating E1EDL46 under the HU item E1EDL44 but that doesn't work either.
Anybody run into this issue?

If your Sloc is HU managed then need to maintain serial numbers in HU only.
i think you are doing packing at shipment level, HU should packed and serial numbers assigned then finally assigned to shipment document.

X240 serial number update. Please help!!

New Lenovo X240 has extra digits on machine type and serial number.
I normally update serial number using a original method that boots into a utility, serialize new System Board starting:
1S(machine type)(serialnumber) (total 16digits) and system should be successfully setup
New product has extra digits so I could not update new serial number for the unit.
I'm seeking help from expert here in this forum. Please help !!

It's nothing to worry about. If the logic board is replaced, there will no longer be a serial number visible to the OS. Just continue to give the one that's on the bottom of the iMac's foot, or on the box it came in.
The logic boards they use for repairs are refurbished and they just remove the serial number from them before they send them out to the people doing the actual repair. And the people doing the repair don't have the equipment required to add back the serial number.

Serial number updation in Assets after GR & MIRO for PO

Hi Experts,
I need a help on the following
We are buying for example 10 Laptops. we have created the Laptop as Asset , Created the Laptop as Material master and Maintained the serial number profile in Material master.
We created a PO with account assignment as "Asset" and included the Asset in PO, did the Goods Receipt with reference to this Asset account assigned PO, then at GR system asks for the Serial number and entered the Serial number and saved.
Did the MIRO for this PO and asset values are posted.
But after GR/MIRO System has updated only the quantity and Values not this Serial number.
I need to check how the system will update the Serial number in Assets, because there is a field in Asset display AS03 --serial no.
but here there is no update of the serial number.
Is there is any config settings is there for this. Please share your information on this.

RG23C-Part -I Serial Number Updation-Issue

Hi CIN Gurus,
        I am facing a problem in excise sap 4.7 version, wherein if I do the capital goods receipt via MIGO and also capturing excise invoice or creating only part-I entry along with it , the system is giving me 2 serial numbers with receipt and issue indicator for the MIGO Material document number in Table J_1IPART1.
       My client is not agreeing with the concept of two serial numbers for the same transaction and also in the PART-I register system is giving the serial number with receipt indicator. The client is reluctant to accept because there will be a gap in the excise serial number Part-I which is not acceptabe for excise authorities.
        Is there any remedy for making it to 1 serial number.

IWork '08 serial number update help?

Can anyone please tell me if there is a straight forward way to update the iwork '08 serial number from a single user license to a family pack license? There does not seem to be a supported way to enter the new number, even after a re-install. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

It seems that re-installing the package leaves the existing preferences files.
Run this short simple script to remove them.

Reg : Serial number with batch numbering

I have one scenario wherein i need to use batch numbering as well as serial number too is it possible to use both in process order.
i am producing certain product in batch say 25 tons and the material is stored in 1 ton eack jumbo with numbering against batch like jumbo1.... 2...25 with batch1000000099
please advice if it is which serial number profile should i use and serilising procedure
marks will be awarded after testing only on the same day.

To the best of my knowledge, this is not possible using standard serial no profile.
However many places this is achieved by using user exit to manipulate the serial no as expected..

The last numeric serial number is automatically updated in the serial masters created and as you pointed out it is stored in MASE. This table gets automatically updated when we do a goods movement for a no of quantity and equivalent to the quantity the same no of serail masters are created and the last serial number is updated in each of the serial master, this is how the MASE table is updated. You need to perform a goods movement. Please clarify if i have misunderstood ur requirement?

Serial number related sales orders???

Hi everyone,
i got this problem when i try to use serial number of an equipment to search all related sales orders.
in our company it is defined that serial number would be created in the first sales order, when the customer purchase the configurable products at the first time.--- we call that initial sales.
then after months or year, customer could come again and buy upgrades or addtional options on that products(we can select serial number to locate that machine in the configurator in sales order)--- we call that following up sales.
so, now the situation is, i can call TA IQ03 to see the equipment and through reference to find the initial sales order, HOWEVER... if i want to have an overview of all Equipments related following up sales, Is that possible ??? or at least the last following up sales which determine the configuration status in the service equipment.
i dont see any info about that in IE03 or IQ03, is that to be found in any tables, if i would rather write a small report to do that?
the only way i can figure out now is to check the configuration of sales orders, maybe through VBAP-CUOBJ then call function to get the serial number... is there any other way?

i would try ur way on monday, but as i assumed,
the method u mentioned may be correct in those companies where the serial number is automatically created by delivery. (as i remembered, the table SER01 is for delivery)
however in our company the serial number is saved in SER02, which are order related, that means the serial number is automatically created after the sales order is created.
so in this way, i only find the first order through SER01 or 02, no matter it is delivery or sales order, but what i want is the sales order after that. in the following sales process, the serial number is already there for selection...
anyway, those above is only based on my knowledge, iif i was wrong about this, hehe, please tell me, i am quite junior in this area...

As far as Serial Number Management, SAP Business One is designed so that serial number update is done after specifying the serial number by narrowing down on Purchase Order or Delivery. However if an Item has a large number of Serial Number such as more than 100, it requires huge work to a user and it causes bad efficiency on the useru2019s business process.
We would like to add the following functionality on SAP Business One
1. Mfr Serial Number search (specifying a record) function on u201CSerial Number Management - Updateu201D screen
2. Mfr Serial Number update function on u201CSerial Number Detailu201D screen

This question was in relation to sap note no 200231- Scrapping of Serial Numbers. I am not able to figure out how the user status can acheive this requirement and where I can change the user status?
My why not putting this question by giving reference to the sap note in the initial stage was that I wanted to figure out myself first and to avoid confusion among the community memebers.

Symptom
You can post a goods receipt again for a serial number that has been scrapped before.
Additional key words
Movement type, 551, 553, 555, available, AVLB, system status, usage decision, inspection lot, scrapping, MB1A
Cause and prerequisites
Several movements of serial numbers are grouped together for status update under goods issue (PMS8).
In addition to the reversal of a goods receipt and several consumption postings this also includes scrapping.
Solution
To prevent the usage of a scrapped serial number, you can use the user status logic.
However, the user status defined for this must either be set manually or with a subsequent (background) procedure.
If it is necessary to reverse a scrapping, you then would have to reset this user status manually again.
