Reg. Variable screen while loading bookmark
HI Friends,
We are working with WAD in SAP BI 7.01 ( With SAPKW70105 patch).
We are having some issue with variable screen display while loading bookamark.
Actually user wanted to show the Variable screen while running report, So we explicity switched on the "Display Variable" in web template
Even we have the option called "While loading Bookmark" in webtemplate.
We have given the option as HIDE for "while loading bookmark. This option is working fine, if the report doesnt have the mandatory fields in the selection screen. At that time if we create bookmark and click on created bookmark means.. it will show us the report without showing the variable screen (Selection screen).
But if the report is having mandatory fields in the selection screen and if we create the bookmark, click on the same.. it will prompt the selection screen (which we dont want to ).
So can anyone please help on this.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks & Regards,
Ravish
HI Friend
Thank you for the support.
We are abe to solve the issue by adding the JAVA patch.
Thanking you again

Showing splash screen while loading...
Hi,
I'd like to show a splash screen while the application is loading (setting up hibernate session etc.) - here is my main method which is loading hibernate and starting up the application:
public static void main(String[] args) {
java.awt.EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
MdbCheckerApp app = new MdbCheckerApp();
app.initializeLookAndFeel();
// preload Hibernate session
HibernateUtil.getSession();
// login successful
// if (app.login()) {
new MdbChecker().setVisible(true);
HibernateUtil.closeSession();
}How do I show my splash screen while simultaneously loading the hibernate session?
Thanks in advance

public static void main(String args[]) {
final TestForm tf = new TestForm();
tf.showSplash();
tf.runInitializer(new Runnable() {

Thread.currentThread().sleep(3000);
} catch (Exception e) {}
tf.hideSplash();

Thread t = new Thread(r);
t.start();
public SplashScreen showSplash() {
// if a splash window was already created...

if(splash.isShowing()) {

centerComponent(splash);
splash.show();
return splash;
public void hideSplash() {

Blank screens while loading .swf videos
I have several .swf movies on a website I am designing. The
smaller movies load fairly quickly but the larger movies just pop
up a white screen until the movie loads and it can take up to 7
seconds. I would like something like a bar or an animated
"Loading..." to pop up until the movie loads. Anyone have any ideas
on the best way to go about this? Thanks!I have the exact same question. I have a keynote presentation
which I have converted to an .swf file and want something to appear
on the screen while it is loading. It doesn't even need to be
animated - even ome text would do. Help please!!! -
Aggregator Briefly Displays A Weird TOC Screen While Loading
In am using Adobe Captivate 5 on a Windows XP machine.
I have 14 Aggregator Files that each contain 10 - 15 swf projects.
When the Aggregator htm is loading, the following screen is briefly displayed.
This looks extremely unprofessional. Is there any way prevent this from happening?
Thanks!John Richter wrote:

Hi John,
I've tried and tested this, and while it's not a complete solution it's certainly an acceptable workaround and has put us in a position where we have something decent to present to our client.
You can basically copy and paste all of this into your HTML file – you'll need to source a preloader .gif and name it 'spinner.gif' then drop it in the same folder as the rest of your files. Other comments relating to file names etc. are commented in the script.
Good luck!

Blue Screen while loading desktop
HP Pavillion Series P7-1003w
Windows 7 Home Premium
About 2 days ago I've started having an issue with my comp (HP Desktop, 8gb Ram, x4 Processor, ATI Video Card), It started when I noticed my Windows Firewall had shut down and would not restart, immediately I assumed a virus/rootkit had sneaked past my Avast! Anti-virus. So I began running scans. My first scan (Full system scan) came back with 38 infected files inside windows temp files folder, all were malware except for 2 Trojan, Avast immediately deleted these files and I restarted comp to see if I could restart the firewall.
Now about 10 seconds after loading the desktop I get the BSOD. I restarted and ran in safe mode to see if I could asses the issue but nothing worked, I tried running memory diagnostics, system repair (No recovery points found), startup repair, and even ran a CHKDSK but everything came back as fine. So I did a full system restore twice using HP's Built in partition recovery. The computer was fine immediately after restore, but I noticed every time I tried to right-click on something explorer would crash and then restart. The only thing I can think of is a bad video card, but I'd like confirmation/Other options before I throw money at a new one.

Now its gotten to the point it wont even load Safe mode, the boot screen comes up but after a few seconds a small line of corruption appears at the top. I need a quick solution to this please, this computer needs to be running at 100% again before 6/11/13.
Update: I just plugged in mouse, keyboard, and monitor to see if I could pull the product ID from the system properties before it crashed, it worked fine so I zipped up the dump file and plugged in the Ethernet to try and post a link to it here, but as soon as it became connected to the internet it blue screened again, I'm thinking the windows updater is to blame, even though its disabled.Hello Erose90,
I see you’re stating your computer blue screens,is that correct? I will be happy to help you.
I would like you to try and create a diagnostic disk, this disk can be run outside of the operating system giving the results more clarity.
This link will show you how to create the disk and run the disk once it has finished. When you open the link scroll down to the sectioned headed “Creating the HP Vision Diagnostic Media”, from there follow the information it provides.
Try to only have this program opened and running so it will lessen the chance of a possible blue screen during the process.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

Issue with variable screen while running query on portal or in a workbook
Hello
I have a peculiar problem. The query has a variable on a char which is a combination of date+time = 20100817 12:34:45.
Now, when I give a range as selection, for ex: 08/01/2010 - 08/10/2010 the query incorporates it as 20100801 00:00:00 - 20100810 00:00:00 and it gives all the records for this range.
1. Now, I save it as a workbook. Then if i open the workbook and run it, the output is 'No data found'. Its saying that it cant interpret 20100810 00:00:00 as a number.
My question: I know there are no master data values specifically for 20100801 00:00:00 & 20100810 00:00:00.. but still the query works when i just give the dates. And it dosent work when i run the workbook.. why??
Regards.Solved it myself.

i have couple of questions on variable screen while working with Web Application Designer
1) i am using variables with multiple single entries in my query and when the variable screen in WAD is displayed i have something called insert row icon for each of the variable i used. i do not want to display this icon. is it possible. when i have a single mandatory variable i don't see this icon
2) when i select a value for one of my variable, say for plant. then i only want the key to be displayed. whereas when i choose a particular plant i can see the key in the variable box and the text which describes the plant adjacent to the variable box. is it possible to display only key.
3) i have something like this
Plant Description
NJ New Jersey (description is seen adjacent to the key in the variable box)
now when i want to empty the screen and run the query for all plants i can delete the key but my description is still seen.
any idea
thanksthanks for your responses. i have another problem which is similar to the above ones
i have variables with multiple single values as optional. now in the variable screen if i choose to enter more than one value, lets say 2 values for the plant then i have two values and its text adjacent to the selection box.
since i am using optional variable and if the user wants to run the report for all the plants then he comes back to the variable screen and has to empty the selection box. the problem is we can empty the selection box but we are not able to remove the text description adjacent to the selection box which the user says its confusing.
is there any way we can get rid of it. may be when we refresh the variable screen can we write a code which simply displays the empty variable screen.
any ideas gurus

RRI Problem : Variable Screen Popup while Jumping to Target Query
While jumping from Source to Target query (both are BEx queries), Variable Entry Screen of the Source is popping Up again during Jump, which after pressing Execute (F8) without entering any values, displaying Target Query results correctly. My Target query is having one and only variable on Inv Doc Num of type Replacement Path and I am not supposed to get any variable Screen Popup during Jump. How can I suppress this reappearance of Variable Screen??. I have tried with Delete Options etc in RSBBS Assignment rules and searched for OSS Notes but not succeeded so far. I am on BW3.50 SP20. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Hi Jr,
I am not having the same variables in the Target at all. In fact the characteristics for which variable screen appears in the source are not there in target. I mean Posting Date, Billing Month...Etc are not ther in the Traget. In the Source Query Rows, I have Inv. Doc No as one of the Characteristics.No variable is defined for Inv Doc Num in the Source Query.
I am not getting your question"From which cell..??". If I select any perticular Cell in the Inv Doc Result Rows of the Source Output, During Jump it will return only the details of that particular invoice only? Is itn't?. But I want details of all those invoices, that appesrs in the Source Output. That is why, I am selecting my Jump target from the GOTO botton (Red Arrow like Symbol in BEx Tool Bar), and choosing my Target.

Long time required to load variable screen
Hi Experts,
I going to start with the question and after I will explain the details. Is there any way in which I can preload in Cache "program" generated by the query?
When I run my queries is taking a long time just to load the variable screen. I think I know the reason what I need is your help to find a solution.
This happens in the big queries. These queries are defined on a Multiprovider, they have lots of selected/calculated key figures and for now I did all I could to optimize them. I used RSRT1 to check the technical information of the queries and in the generation limits I could see the load size is about 1 MB.
Again, the problem is even before I select the data. Is the re anyway to avoid this long load time?
I really appreciate your help I am about going live and this could be a big issue.
Thanks very much for your help,
Raimundo AlvarezHi,
Do you have variable replaced by another query? If that is case, you will get performance issue, when the prequery is runnig when call var screen.
Do you have variable replaced by authorization? If that is case, for the user will complicated authroization, it will take some time to fill it.
In general, when the variable screen is calling, have you check in sm66, what is the work process doing? In RSRT->run this query with statistics, which part takes most time? -
Bookmark with Variable screen and UserExit
Hi
We're using the bookmarks in portal of N2004s.
If someone starts a bookmark it's possible to bring the user first to the variable screen. But I recognized that the userexit is not activated for some variables after changing them.
concret:
I called a report with time-selection week = 10.2007 - the report has keyfigures which are restricted by a userexit variable which is previous year (calculated by time selection - 1year) - so the report shows me the keyfigures with previous year 10.2006 and 10.2007 - I save this as a bookmark.
calling the bookmark with this link: &bookmark=46LQ49TMUQ8BRH3O91VEH0XMK&variable_screen=X
the bookmark shows me first the variable screen. The user can change then the time-selection. But when i change now the time-selection in the variable screen from 10.2007 to 20.2007 I get in the report stll 10.2006 and 20.2007.
So it seems to me the bookmark doesn't run through the user exit to fill the variable "previous year".
How can this be activated?
Thank you for your reply.
RogerHi
I debugged now the user exit and it seems as following:
- calling a bookmark with selection_screen=x but without the parameter clear_variables=x does run through the user exits step 1 to 3 before showing the variable screen. After changing a variable the user exit is only enabled for step 3 and not anymore for step 2 - that's why the previous year is not updated.
- calling the bookmark with selection_screen=x and clear_variables=x runs user exit with step 1 before selection screen and then after entering variables step 2 and 3 - and the previous year is filled correctly. But this is not useable, because the user want's to have selection variables prefilled.
Has someone an idea how to bring the bookmark without clear_variables=x to the point to run the step 2 in user exit after changing variables in selection screen?
Thx

Bookmark shows Variable Screen when Query use a Prequery
Hi Guys,
i have a Problem. I have a Query which use a Prequery. i can execute the Query on Web and save this by Bookmark. If i open the Bookmark the Variablescreen was displayed. Usually when i open a query without prequery and save the bookmark the query result was displayed.
Has anyone an Idea or solution for this problem?
Thx.Hi Steffi,
Did you resolve the problem with the bookmark and the variable screen? I saw the same problem on a 3.5 system but cannot reproduce the problem on a 7.0 system. On which system did you see the problem? Did you solve it and how?

Can we load data in variable screen from flat file?
Hello all,
One of my user once asked me she needs to run a report for some employees, i said you can just type that in employee varaible input box.
She said I need to run the report and I need it for 120 employees, she has the employee numbers in excel sheet.
What is the best way of doing this if any ?
ThanksThis can be done from a flat file, which has list of all values.
If you are using Bex 3.5, then we have an icon in variable screen bottom right to upload values, where we can specify the path of the file.

Reg: Requirement to change Variable Screen with BI 7.0
Hi,
We have a Requirement with Variable Screen in WAD 7.0 (7.1 GUI).
Issue 1: By seeing the Variable in Variable Screen, <b>we can't say whether it will accept Multiple Values or not</b>? ..We need to press F4 then only we can come to know.
Issue 2. We couldn't able to <b>select Value Ranges right away in one Step</b>(too many Navigations). At Least, Our Users are not happy with it. Even though we can provide manually by specifing '-' .
Is it possible to get Variable Screen similar 6.4 GUI.
If it is possible, please guide me to complete my Requirement.
Thanks a lot!
Nagesh Ganisetti.Prakash, do you know how to go about doing custom coding on the variable screens?
Is there documentation available on this?
Is it as simple as opening a specific template in the WAD, and if so, do you know the name of the template?
Cheers,
