Default web server address?
Hi.
I'm using Oracle Expres Editon 10g release 2, with the application builder that came with: Product Build: 2.1.0.00.39 . on windows xp.
I want to add this tag in a report form:
<div style="text-align:center;">
<img src="C:\download\bilder\dogu#NAME#" />
</div>
But the url seems not to be translated correctly I assume that I should have defined the URL for the image in relation to the default directory for the web server, my question is: How do I find out what is the default directory for the web server?I had the same problem this morning with a clean install of 10.5 Leopard Server.
I called apple and spoke to a really good guy who ran through a diagnosis with me and advised that under server admin you have your default site built in, what to do is click on that original site then there is a little box under it where you are able to duplicate the site, click this, then basically make everything the same and try through safari and it should work, mine works perfect now.
I asked him why this happens and a easy answer was oh its a glitch we aim to fix it as soon as possible.
Hope this helps -
After Apple stopped hosting with Mobile Me, I moved hosting for my i web built web site to Network solutions. I was told by a Network solutions technician that I can publish an updated iweb site directly to a FTP server address. But I do not see that as an option with my 2.0.4 i web version. Can I update my
version of i web? Or do I need to purchase a later version of i web for this function?You can open your iWeb 2 site in iWeb 3 and continue as before with the addition of FTP. However you should be able to upload with no problem in CyberDuck or Transmit - both are easy to use and reliable. Note that when you publish to a local folder you should usually upload the contents of the folder to the server, not the folder itself, unless you want the folder name (which must have no spaces in it) to appear in the URL.
Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. -
I have installed HP2035n. But when i try to open the embedded web server, i get the error "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (fe80) isn't associated with any program." What is the possible solution?
I typed in the IPv6 address of the printer in the address feild of firefox.Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

please help, can anyone tell me where i can find a web server ip address so i could use it on other computers to access my site
/System Preferences.../Sharing/
Click Web Sharing checkbox and server IP URL is displayed to the right. David Powers has an _excellent tutorial_ that shows how to set up a virtual host on Leopard using Apache. There's _more info_ if you want to integrate PHP. Is that what you're looking for?
You would have to publish to a folder from iWeb and place that folder in your user/sites folder.
Hope that helps -
What the IP address does the Web Server get?
Hi all,
We have a scenario like this:
Client>Proxy(like squid)........>Web Server( 6.1 SP7)>Application
We know that the Web Server will get the remote IP address, and set as proxy-ip in HTTP Header.
But, what the exact remote IP address does the Web Server get? The IP of the Proxy? or The IP of the original client?
If we want to get the original client IP in the Application, what do we need to do?
Thanks!
ShenLook at the documentation for customized logging
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/821-1497/gdsxf?l=en&a=view
Basically, you configure a custom log file format in SJSWS
And instead of using the variable: %Ses->client.ip%
you will use something like the variable: %Req->headers.X-Forwarded-For% -
My application needs to a access web server. So, from that application how do i call Firefox ? And how do i pass an argument such as the url/web server ip address?

IPlanet Web Server acl to deny access to class C IP addresses
Hi all,
having not chance to modify an ACL from the iPlanet Web Server GUI (the application just make the acl file and anything else....), I am trying to modify it directly to deny access to all users having IP address starting with 172.
The ACL file created from the iPlanet GUI is the following:
version 3.0;
acl "default";
authenticate (user, group) {
prompt = "iPlanet Web Server";
allow (read, list, execute,info) user = "anyone";
allow (write, delete) user = "all";
acl "es-internal";
allow (read, list, execute,info) user = "anyone";
deny (write, delete) user = "anyone";
I modified it by adding the following deny:
root@webone /usr/iplanet/servers/httpacl # more generated.https-altorendimento.acl
version 3.0;
acl "default";
authenticate (user, group) {
prompt = "iPlanet Web Server";
allow (read, list, execute,info) user = "anyone";
allow (write, delete) user = "all";
acl "es-internal";
deny (read) ip = "172.*";
deny (write, delete) user = "anyone";
but, after applying the changes, I am still (I am on a 172.*.*.* workstation) allowed to access the resource. Then I changed the deny in the following way:
root@webone /usr/iplanet/servers/httpacl # more generated.https-altorendimento.acl
version 3.0;
acl "default";
authenticate (user, group) {
prompt = "iPlanet Web Server";
allow (read, list, execute,info) user = "anyone";
allow (write, delete) user = "all";
acl "es-internal";
deny (read) user = "all";
deny (write, delete) user = "anyone";
nothing happened again. The access to the resource seems not related to the acl changes, although the acl are correctly referenced into the obj.conf file. Unfortunatelly, I do not have much experience in ACL.
Is there anyone able to help me with that issue?
Thank you so much
enricohi all,
sorry for this delay, the matter was solved due to the Mozilla display capability for which this site (the one with the ACL) was not made. Once tried to display with Explorer all was ok and I was able to change the ACL accordingly.
Sorry again, and thaks anyway

How Web Server pass request IP Address as the environment variable?
How can I config the Web server in order to pass the URL request IP address as the environment variable?
Are you inspecting the environment from a CGI program? The definitive guide to the CGI standard is the CGI/1.1 specification at http://hoohoo.ncsa.uiuc.edu/cgi/env.html
iPlanet-specific enhancements to CGI are described in the iPlanet Web Server Programmer's Guide.
REMOTE_ADDR is probably the variable you're interested in. -
How do I use Sun Web Server 7.0u1 reverse proxy to change public URLs?
Some of our installations use the Sun Web Server 7.0 (update 1, usually)
for hosting some of the public resource and reverse-proxying other parts
of the URI namespace from other backend servers (content, application
and other types of servers).
So far every type of backend server served a unique part of the namespace
and there was no collision of names, and the backend resources were
published in a one-to-one manner. That is, a backend resource like, say,
http://appserver:8080/content/page.html would be published in the internet
as http://www.publicsite.com/content/page.html
I was recently asked to research whether we can rename some parts of
the public URI namespace, to publish some or all resources as, say,
http://www.publicsite.com/data/page.html while using the same backend
resources.
Another quest, possibly related in solution, was to make a tidy url for the
first page the user opens of the site. That is, in the current solution when
a visitor types the url "www.publicsite.com" in his or her browser, our web
server returns an HTTP-302 redirect to the actual first page URL, so the
browser sends a second request (and changes the URL in its location bar).
One customer said that it is not "tidy". They don't want the URL to change
right upon first rendering the page. They want the root page to be rendered
instantly i the first HTTP request.
So far I found that I can't solve these problems. I believe these problems
share a solution because it relies on ability to control the actual URI strings
requested by Sun Web Server from backend servers.
Some details follow, now:
It seems that the reverse proxy (Service fn="service-passthrough") takes
only the $uri value which was originally requested by the browser. I didn't
yet manage to override this value while processing a request, not even if
I "restart" a request. Turning the error log up to "finest" I see that even
when making the "service-passthrough" operation, the Sun Web Server
still remembers that the request was for "/test" (in my test case below);
it does indeed ask the backend server for an URI "/test" and that fails.
[04/Mar/2009:21:45:34] finest (25095) www.publicsite.com: for host xx.xx.xx.83
trying to GET /content/MainPage.html while trying to GET /test, func_exec reports:
fn="service-passthrough" rewrite-host="true" rewrite-location="true"
servers="http://10.16.2.127:8080" Directive="Service" DaemonPool="2b1348"
returned 0 (REQ_PROCEED)My obj.conf file currently has simple clauses like this:
# this causes /content/* to be taken from another (backend) server
NameTrans fn="assign-name" from="/content" name="content-test" nostat="/content"
# this causes requests to site root to be HTTP-redirected to a certain page URI
<If $uri =~ '^/$'>
NameTrans fn="redirect"
url="http://www.publicsite.com/content/MainPage.html"
</If>
<Object name="content-test">
### This maps http://public/content/* to http://10.16.2.127:8080/content/*
### Somehow the desired solution should instead map http://public/data/* to http://10.16.2.127:8080/content/*
Service fn="service-passthrough" rewrite-host="true" rewrite-location="true" servers="http://10.16.2.127:8080"
Service fn="set-variable" set-srvhdrs="host=www.publicsite.com:80"
</Object>
I have also tried "restart"ing the request like this:
NameTrans fn="restart" uri="/data"or desperately trying to set the new request uri like this:
Service fn="set-variable" uri="/magnoliaPublic/Main.html"Thanks for any ideas (including a statement whether this can be done at all
in some version of Sun Web Server 7.0 or its opensourced siblings) ;)
//JimSome of our installations use the Sun Web Server 7.0 (update 1, usually)please plan on installing the latest service pack - 7.0 Update 4. these updates addresses potentially critical bug fixes.
I was recently asked to research whether we can rename some parts of
the public URI namespace, to publish some or all resources as, say,
http://www.publicsite.com/data/page.html while using the same backend
resources.> now, if all the resources are under say /data, then how will you know which pages need to be sent to which back end resources. i guess, you probably meant to check for /data/page.html should go to <back-end>/content/page.html
yes, you could do something like
- edit your corresponding obj.conf (<hostname>-obj.conf or obj.conf depending on your configuration)
<Object name=¨default¨>
<If $uri = ¨/page/¨>
#move this nametrans SAF (for map directive - which is for reverse proxy within <if> clause)
NameTrans.. fn=map
</If
</Object>
and you could do https-<hostname>/bin/reconfig (dynamic reconfiguration) to check out if this is what you wanted. also, you might want to move config/server.xml <log-level> to finest and do your configuration . this way, you would get enough information on what is going on within your server logs.
finally,when you are satisfied, you might have to run the following command to make your manual change into admin config repository.
<install-root>/bin/wadm pull-config user=admin config=<hostname> <hostname>
<install-root>/bin/wadm deploy-config --user=admin <hostname>
you might want to check out this for more info on how you could use <if> else condition to handle your requirement.
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-6599/gdaer?a=view
finally, you might want to refer to this doc - which explains on ws7 request processing overview. this should provide you with some pointers as to what these different directives mean
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-6599/gbysz?a=view
>
One customer said that it is not "tidy". They don't want the URL to change
right upon first rendering the page. They want the root page to be rendered
instantly i the first HTTP request.
please check out the rewrite / restart SAF. this should help you.
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-6599/gdada?a=view
pl. understand that - like with more web servers - ordering of directives is very important within obj.conf. so, you might want to make sure that you verify the obj.conf directive ordering is what you want it to do..
It seems that the reverse proxy (Service fn="service-passthrough") takes
only the $uri value which was originally requested by the browser. I didn't
yet manage to override this value while processing a request, not even if
I "restart" a request. Turning the error log up to "finest" I see that even
when making the "service-passthrough" operation, the Sun Web Server
still remembers that the request was for "/test" (in my test case below);
it does indeed ask the backend server for an URI "/test" and that fails.
now, you are in the totally wrong direction. web server 7 includes a highly integrated reverse proxy solution compared to 6.1. unlike 6.1, you don´t have to download a separate plugin . however, you will need to manually migrate your 6.1 based reverse proxy settings into 7.0. please check out this blog link on how to set up a reverse proxy
http://blogs.sun.com/amit/entry/setting_up_a_reverse_proxy
feel free to post to us if you need any futher help
you are probably better off - starting fresh
- install ws7u4
- use gui or CLI to create a reverse proxy and map one on one - say content
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-6601/create-reverse-proxy-1?a=view
if you don´t plan on using ws7 integrated web container (ability to process jsp/servlet), then you could disable java support as well. this should reduce your server memory footprint
<install-root>/bin/wadm disable-java user=admin config=<hostname>
<install-root>/bin/wadm create-reverse-proxy user=admin uri-prefix=/content server=<http://your back end server/ config=<hostname> --vs=<hostname>
<install-root>/bin/wadm deploy-config --user=admin <hostname>
now, you can check out the regular express processing and <if> syntax from our docs and try it out within <https-<hostname>/config/<hostname>-obj.conf> file and restart the server. pl. note that once you disable java, ws7 admin server creates <vs>-obj.conf and you need to edit this file and not default obj.conf for your changes to be read by server.
>
I have also tried "restart"ing the request like this:
NameTrans fn="restart" uri="/data"
ordering is very important here... you need to do this some thing like
<Object name=default>
<If not $restarted>
NameTrans fn=restart uri from=/¨ uri=/foo.
</If> -
My hard drive crashed recently and i can no longer see my web site address in the iWeb side bar
I can n o longer see my web site address in the iweb side bar, how can I relocate it so i can edit my website
Let me start with the general advise...
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help? -
How do you failover the web server?
I have 2 servers running the web server on them. If one of them fails how do I reroute the users requests to the other one, seamlessly to the user? I am new to using the web server so any help, even remedial would help!! Thanks!
Ya, thats part of the problem. Right now we are using Sun Cluster to provide a network resource that handles which web server is to handle the request. A virtual ip address so to speak. We'd like to stop using Sun Cluster as it's a bit unstable, ie reboots the cluster randomly without error messages or warnings. We'd like to just use the web server/application server clustering capabilities and eleviate the extra layer of complexity with Sun Cluster. I know Sun Cluster has a Web Server agent to do this, but that is why we're trying to not go down that road. It is starting to sound like we may have to though as buying additional hardware isn't an option.

Access websites hosted on local web server
Hi there,
I have a Cisco ASA 5505 in my home office which has a few PCs behind it with a linux web server running some websites. I can access the websites from outside no problem (i.e. on my iPhone using a 3G connection). However, I struggle to access the websites from within the network. The ASA gives me this error:
6
May 05 2013
11:52:27
192.168.55.61
50420
Failed to locate egress interface for TCP from inside:192.168.55.61/50420 to 86.*.*.*/80
ASA runs version 9. Here is the config bit:
object network denon-server
host 192.168.55.200
access-list outside_access_in extended permit tcp any object denon-server eq www
object network denon-server
nat (any,outside) static interface service tcp www www
Any suggestions?Hi,
I assume that you are trying to reach the LAN server with the public IP address that the ASA holds and also uses for the above Port Forward / Static PAT configuration?
If this is the situation then I am afraid that with the current configuration that is not possible. The NAT configuration towards Internet is done between probably "inside" and "outside". So "outside" interface holds the public IP address. ASA doesnt let you connect to that "outside" IP address from behind the "inside" IP address. (Or any other interface for that matter)
What you could try to do is configure a NAT that would enable you to use the public IP address of the server even when connecting from the "inside" of ASA.
Try this
object network SERVER-LOCAL
host 192.168.55.200
object network SERVER-PUBLIC
host 86.x.x.x
object network LAN
subnet 192.168.55.0 255.255.255.0
nat (inside,inside) source dynamic LAN interface destination static SERVER-PUBLIC SERVER-LOCAL
Where
SERVER-LOCAL = Is the "object" that defines the real IP address of the server
SERVER-PUBLIC = Is the "object" that defines the public IP address of the server (that ASA holds on its "outside")
LAN = Is the "object" that defines the subnet from where LAN users connect to the server public IP address
Check that the network mask is correct for the LAN and fill in the public IP address.
The actual NAT configuration tells the ASA this
When a connection from LAN is coming towards SERVER-PUBLIC then UN-NAT SERVER-PUBLIC to SERVER-LOCAL and NAT LAN to "inside" interface IP address (as defined by the parameter "interface" in the configuration)
This should enable the LAN hosts to use the public IP address to connect to the server. The server though will see the connections coming from the ASA "inside" interface IP address.
Hope this helps

How to set up a FTP and web server and integrate with DMM 5.2
Hi All ...
I need to set up a external server only for content publishing to reduce the overhead of the DMM server .
can anyone guide me on how to set up the external server and intergrate it with the DMM 5.2
Thankssemuthu,
Notes from the Release Notes:
Compatibility Limitations with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)
DMPs that use firmware release 5.2 are compatible with only one version of Microsoft Internet Information Server.
That supported version is IIS 6.0 for Windows 2003 Enterprise. If you do not have the supported IIS version but
want your DMPs to retrieve assets from a webserver, we recommend that you use Apache instead of IIS.
I would suggest using Apache instead of IIS for the webserver service. IIS can be used as FTP if needed.
There are plenty of Documents on the Web about setting up Apache and FTP for servers.
Using Apache with Microsoft Windows
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/platform/windows.html
Quick HOWTO : Ch20 : The Apache Web Server
http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com/wiki/index.php/Quick_HOWTO_:_Ch20_:_The_Apache_Web_Server
Once the Webserver is setup and operational. You simply store your media content on the Webserver
and then have your DMS assets in the media library use an external URL address for its location.
If you want to use external server for other features in the DMM, you can can see how to configure
here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_1/dmm/user/guide/dsm+etv.html#wp1073210
Goto the section right below ACNS & WAAS..
If this answers your question, Please take time to mark this
discussion answered & rate the response.
Thank You!

Problem with NAT? can get to web server internally but not externally
We are trying to setup our helpdesk software website so external users
can access it. However, we have been unsuccessful. We don't have any
issues accessing it internally from our 10.1.1.X LAN
We have had our ISP setup a public DNS "A" record of
customerservice.amerinet-gpo.com which resolves to 198.88.234.40 and that
appears to be working.
Next we added a NAT to our Firewall to take 198.88.234.40 traffic and put
it to the local IP of 10.1.1.23 which is our local address for the
webserver running the helpdesk software.
We also made sure that BM filters are allowing traffic on ports 80 and
443 to the local IP as well.
We have 4 other webservers (on a separate servers than our helpdesk
software website) that are exposed to the outside in this same manner and
all work fine.
The helpdesk website is on Windows 2003 server SP1 running IIS 6.0. Our
firewall server is NetWare 6 SP5 and BM 3.7 SP3.
I have tried to just telnet to the public IP of 198.88.234.40 on port 80
and it times out. I can't understand why, and have checked my entries on
BM and even deleted and re did them 3 times to make sure I didn't make a
mistake. I even have another web server on that block NAT'd the same way
and it works (198.88.234.36), if you telnet to it on port 80 it goes
right away.
What else can I try? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

I was really hoping that we had the wrong sub net in BM for the
198.88.234.32 block! When I read your post last night, I thought that's
gotta be it...sadly I checked and it does have it as 255.255.255.240 when
I look in inetcfg under bindings. I even checked our Cisco router as
well to make sure it had the sub net correct since this is the first time
I've tried to use an IP above 198.88.234.36. The router looked fine as
well. Is there anyplace else that this could be wrong, maybe a config
file on BM or something?
Thx,
SCOTT V.
