Regarding 11g OCA and OCP exams

Hi,
I have 10g OCA. Now i am planning to write 11g OCA and OCP. Do i need to write 11g OCA or can i upgrade my 10g OCA to 11g.
Can any one please let me know how to prepare for 11g OCA and OCP. any web links or any text books do i need to follow in order to get good score in both certifications

There is no upgrade path for the OCA certification. You'd need to take the 11g OCA exams. Assuming we're talking about the DBA track (there are many different tracks), you should have passed one of the SQL exams when you got your 10g OCA so you probably only need to take one more exam for the 11g OCA.
All of Oracle's documentation is online at http://tahiti.oracle.com. You should be able to find more than enough information about all the exam topics there.

  • Preparation for Oracle 10g OCA and OCP exams

    Hi all,
I am studying for my first Oracle 10g OCA exam. Thus far, I have the Transcender exam prep software and book from Oracle Press for the OCA/OCP exams with Oracle 10g. With a test Oracle 10g database to practice on while I study, am I on the right path?
    Thanks

Use the http://education.oracle.com OR http://otn.oracle.com as your portal - you'll see the Certification link on either one. From the Certification page you will be able to drill down to the objectives and requirements of the exam. I suggest you use that as a checklist, as the various books and sample exams have been known to include mistakes or miss items.
In addition, you should be familiar with the first few chapters of the Oracle Concepts manual and also, preferably, the first few chapters of the DB Admin Guide - both available from http://tahiti.oracle.com
A great motto while learning is "trust no one - verify everything"

  • How to get Oracle 11g OCA, OCM, OCP certification?

    Hi,
This is my first post! Please pardon my ignorance. I want to get Oracle 11g OCA, OCM, OCP certifications done. How do I go about it? How much does it cost to get these certifications? Could you please suggest a website/url where I can get more information about it.
    Thank you,
    Tracy

The Oracle Certification Program site should answer your questions.
Assuming you are trying to get certified on the DBA track (there are many different certification tracks, I'm assuming when you say 11g that you mean to indicate that you're interested in the DBA track), you can see the progression of the exams and the options you have on this page.

    Hi,
Get the OCA and OCP certification books. Look on Amazon for them. I used them and passed first time without any issues. All of the material, plus some on the job knowledge, and you will get it done easily. Using other people's notes is most likely going to be unreliable compared to using an official exam book to be honest.

  • Question about  oca and Ocp 10 g dba

    Hi all
I want to prepare DBA 10g exam,  OCA and ocp  .
    Can I provide exam 1z0-007 instead of 1z0-051 ?
    Thx alot

I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be gathering from that article except that it is obsolete.  It's from About.com, not Oracle.com and so is not definitive (and even Oracle's website occasionally has errors).  In five minutes I could get you ten articles from the Web about Oracle 8i certifications, and they've been retired for years.
How about this for a definitive link.  It's from the Oracle site and specifically notes that 1Z0-007 retired on July 31, 2013.

  • OCA and OCP Post-nominal letters

    Hi All,
I recently passed OCA and OCP for Java 7.  I was wondering if there is an official industry accepted standard to place these qualifications after your name.
I saw Bert Bates, co-author of the Java 7 study guide, placed:
    Bert Bates OCA OCP.
Is this convention authorised by Oracle or do we have to specify the product and version that the certification was given to.  If the latter is the case, what would be the official post-nominal letters for OCA and OCP for Java 7.
    Thanks.

There is no defined standard that I am aware of for that.  Certainly none shows in Certview or is easily locatable in the FAQ.
There are standards for displaying the logos -- mainly about the size and color:

  • Regarding OCA and OCP certification

I have a Master's degree in computer science and i know the basics of sql and pl/sql and right now i am going to train up on pl/sql. I want to start a career as pl/sql developer and if we do certification it can be some added advantage so i am thinking of that and i am in a confusion some are saying OCA and some are saying OCP and i heard that OCA is for developers and OCP is for DBA's

Don't start a second thread for the same thing. Stick to your original thread...
    Regarding certification

  • Need info regarding 11g OCA.

    Hi
    I am a 9i OCA.
How can I upgrade to 11g OCA ?
    Please guide in this regard.

Please guide in this regard. There is no 'upgrade' for DBA OCA.
Simply take the 1z0-052 exam (your existing SQL exam pass should be the other pre-requisite).
However ..... if you ultimate goal is 11g DBA OCP but may have already untaken the required authorised training for 9i DBA OCP ... and i the can 1z0-032+1z0-033+1z055 would be a route to 11g DBA OCP without further training. If you have not already received an authorized traning course this is less important.
See http://certification.oracle.com and review the getting 'started pages' carefully.

  • Retirement of 9i DBA OCA and OCP and associated exams and also 1z0-147

This question hasnt been asked for a while, which I suppose means the numbers doing the followig exams must be diminishing:
    1z0-007, 1z0-031, 1z0-032, 1z0-033, 1z0-147
I think there is now a fairly good case for these to be retired, assume that WDP courses for them have ceased; though vouchers may still be in existance.
I particularly wold like to see 1z0-007 and 1z0-147 retired as the far better and more modern equivalent exam 1z0-051 and 1z0-144 exist. IMHO These could probably be done on the normal 3 months noice.
While I think 1z0-031 could be ceasd at relatively short notice, the case for 1z0-032 having a longer period would be more useful, as people could be part way into a 9i DBA OCP and unable to complete in the 3 months.
IMHO it would be best to withdraw 1z0-031 first, or to give an extended retirement date for 1z0-032 and 1z0-033 of at least 6 months.
I guess of all these I would like 1z0-007 and 1z0-147 to be retired. IMHO They should have been put to grass long ago.

Thanks for your comments on these exams. We are actually currently in the middle of a project to evaluate a number of exams to see which ones need to be identified for upcoming retirement. I will pass your comments along to the team conducting this review.
    Thanks,

  • OCA and OCP Certification kit not yet received

    Hi,
I had cleared my OCA in Dec,2012 and when followed up with Oracle Support then they told that my success kit was shipped on 21-Dec-2012 and I would receive it by the first week of Feb,2013,which never happened.I have raised so many SR's in this regard and each time they replied that I had to change my address on PearsonVue to get 2nd shipment done as the new address has to be different from the first.
In Feb,2013  I cleared my OCP and the shipment in Certview for it shows first shipment as 10-FEB-13.
I have received neither of my certification kits till date and I am very much frustrated by this service of Oracle as it should at least provide a tracking no so that people can track their kit from time to time. Each time I follow up with the support they give excuse to change the address and all and till now they haven't initiated a 2nd shipment for any of my certificates.I have taken other certifications too like ITIL and got the certificate within 15days their service was hassle free. But Oracle is worst than what people used to say in terms of shipment of certification.I don't have any hope now as almost 1 year is going to pass and I haven't received my 1st certificate also.
Here I have mentioned all the SR's raised by me along with their respective dates,in this regard. If you have time from your busy schedule then please have a look at them.I would appreciate your consideration.

    Vini,
I will pass this request along to the team lead for support. Unfortunately, there are some regions in which we have an immense amount of difficulty getting the certificates delivered. This is more extreme than most cases I see. I am not sure what the issue is, but I will try to help you get it sorted out. I'm sure this has been frustrating for you.

  • ORACLE OCA and OCP Certification.

    Hi Guys,
I am currently working in TCS BPO from last 2 years and 8 months for Cargo Revenue Accounting.
Done my Accounting and finance graduation.
I am very bored with the current profile I have and want to change the job. (though the place is good)
I am good in Excel and want to make a good career in IT. I want to go for ORACLE OCP and OCA certification.
Since I don't have a IT backround, will it possible to make a good career in IT???????????????? (looking at my profile)
Also, would like to know if it is really advisable to opt for ORACLE OCP and OCA. (looking at my profile)

Being good in Excel probably won't help much in the Oracle database domain IMO . How did you come to the decision that you want to do an OCP (DBA?) ? If that's taken because someone said that DBA job is a very cool job , well, than you should give a serious reconsideration because choosing something just because someone else is saying is good probably won't be something that you would be able to pull for a long duration. Anyways, the best bet would be to attend a SQL course and see if you do understand it and using it, how well you interact with the database. My suggestion would be to do the SQL course and then opt for the Financial application courses from Oracle which probably would suit better for your profile than opting for OCP/OCA. The choice , of course remains with you. Have a read of the Concepts guide at http://tahiti.oracle.com as well.

  • Studying for Oracle 11g Performance and Tuning exam - 1Z0-054

    Hello all,
I want to attend to this exam and I'm looking for interesting and usefull studying path. Sure manuals on tahiti are needed.
Neither sefltestsoftware not Testking has released a proficiency test for this exam. I was only able to find a test from Braindumps here (http://www.exam4test.net/1Z1-054) but not sure this is a serious material.
Any hints about this material and / or any other suggestions?
    Thanks
    Stefano

    Hi Stefano
Seems that our friends from Certguard aren't sure that this a legal provider, but the look and feel would say to avoid that site.
Try the http://www.certguard.com/braindump-quiz.asp it matches very well to the site or?
Besides that while looking on the domain i found that
    Domains being linked from exam4test.com
    * Traffic rank 252963. test-inside.com
    * Traffic rank 940584. exam4test.net
    and those sites aren't clean.

  • OCP Exam Question

    Hi Folks,
My employer had sent me for the Oracle 10g DBA workshop in 2009.
Now, I have some time on my hands and I am planing on writing my OCA and OCP exams.
My question is, since I had attended the 10g workshop, do I qualify to write the 10g OCP exam ? or can I write the 11g exam (based on the 10g training)?
    Thanks in advance.
    rogers42

    Hi,
As an after thought, will I qualify to write the 11g OCP exam based on 10g Admin I workshop ? is Oracle very particular about the exam and workshop versions a student has attended ?
    Thanks
rogers42Oracle is particular about what hands on courses are valid.
A wide range of courses are often available, but what is generally not allowed is using a hands on course at version 'X' to meet a certification requirement for version 'X+1'.
(Sometimes hands on courses for version 'X+1' are allowed for version 'X' certiifcations.
So if I recall correctly you have attended a hands on course eligible for '10g DBA OCP' but which is not eliglble for '11g DBA OCP'. Unless you wish to attend a further course your path would be to attain 10g DBA OCP and them upgrade your certification to 11g DBA OCP (the upgrade does not require a mandatory hands on course attendance
