Regarding 30" ACD & dancing green/blue pixels with 10.5.3

Hi there people!
I'm really interested to find out if 10.5.3 has fixed the issues for those that had the dancing green/blue pixels problem as the display wakes from screen sleep state. As I am surprised nobody had posted any information regarding this from 10.5.3.
According to the huge log of fixes... something caught my eye but it was not detailed. So now that 10.5.3 final has been out for a few days, has it fixed yours... since this fix sounds like its related to the corruption. Hoping that it's related to the DVI noise/screen corruption as the pixels dance about the screen.

Hi all.
I had this problem with my G5 2.3 & 30" CD upon start up quite frequently.
After going back & forth to the Apple store all day switching out monitors (3 total), I tried something different.
I did an erase & install, & DID NOT install the 30" CD software, I also set the display up to where I turn it on & off separately.
I have had 0 pixel issues since.
I miss just being able to turn the power button on and being done with it, but this has gotten rid of the pixel issues.
I just kind of look @ it like when you turn on/off your home theater, you have your receiver button and your TV button, plus a Blu Ray / DVD player to turn on/off.
Also, my G5 has the 6600 video card, not the specified 6800GT. I spoke with a "Tier 2" Apple specialist & was told I would have "no problems", After 3 years, I have had none. (other than the infamous "dancing pixels")
Good luck. This solution worked for me. Pixel issues suck.

  • Green & Blue pixels of death  -  Hotfix

Occasionally my screen will boot swarming with green & blue pixel sized dots. If I take a screenshot, and look at that screenshot on another computer, they are not visible. I used to reboot until they disappeared, and then started putting the display to sleep and waking it up, but encountered sleep problems with Leopard. I've since found a faster, more reliable way to chase them away.
    - Change the resolution of your screen one lower, and then back to your desired resolution -

    Stop changing the screen resolution.
There's a few workarounds with this, sadly no fixes.
*1, When it happens. Press the power button/standby button on the side of the display and unplug the display (from the mains) gives it two seconds and plug it back in. As it's powered back on, the dancing pixels are gone and its saves you having to reboot/sleep/restart all the time.*
*2, Get dockables. http://getdockables.com/ It has the sleep display app that you can put in your dock and activate to quickly get rid of the dancing swines.*
No need for messing with resolution changing, or restarts etc.
*3, The most simplest one of all. When your display goes to sleep, before you wake it up and the screen is covered in dancing pixels. Power off the display via the button on the side of the screen. Then tap the key (keyboard) or move the mouse to wake up the machine. Then tap the power button on the side of the display again.* The screen will be clear from dancing pixels. You'll have to do this each time when it enters sleep.
I can't guarantee you'll never get them. As I have tested this many times and I haven't had it with workaround 3. Sure it may be a pain, but its the only way I have found testing this.
Something triggers the signal to become messed up, and I'm betting its driver related because the OS sends the display to go to sleep. So something must malfunction with the driver/signal to cause all the dancing pixels upon wake up.
As it is no rocket science if somebody has replaced display after display, system after system, graphics card after graphics card and the problem remains.
This is such a bad intermittent problem, that Apple are not aware of.

  • Green images pixelated with black when opening in CS6

    Hi there,
I have just come across a puzzling problem.
I am editig some images of furniture I have taken. All images are OK apart from green ones? When I open them in PS CS6 they are havily pixelated on screen with black. When I save the image for web, the preview that opens up, then image is fine again. It seems to be just an on screen, in PS problem.
Any idea how to solve this, it's very annoying!
    Thanks,
    John

It's AMD that have been doing the tweaking/correcting. Catalyst 13.1 can be problematic for any version of Ps that uses OpenGL although you may not have exposed the problems until yesterday. Your example image shows the bug where a pixel with red component of zero is displayed as completely black.

Click here and follow the instructions, or if they don't cover the type of adware on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

    Three options:
    1. Call AppleCare.
    2. Go to an Apple Store.

  • Powerbook screen issues with blue pixels replacing colors

This is my Grandma's computer. It is a Powerbook G4 1.5 GHZ running mac os 10.5.6. It took a trip and she might have possibly dropped it. The issue is with the LCD display. Blue pixels seem to be coming on too much, especially on the edges of the screen. BASICALLY, some spots of color seem to be replaced by blue pixels. Is it a mother board issue, an LCD issue, or a display cable issue? I want to try hooking up an external monitor, but haven't done so yet.

The external monitor would be a good thing to try. If the pixel artifact also appears on the external, it would imply a problem with the graphics chip. If not, it would imply a problem with the internal display or its connections. When pixels are involved, it is often an internal display problem.
If you have the original install discs, you could also try running the Apple Hardware Test and see if anything shows up in the form of an error code.
    Good luck!

  • The top button on my iphone 5 stopped working recently.. Well it works but barely at all if every. Most of the time it only locks the screen if I click on the left side of the button. Also my Camera causes a blue pixelated spot on pictures I take.

The top button on my phone recently stopped working. Well sometimes. Majority of the time if I click it hard enough on the left side of the button it will lock the screen... Otherwise it doesnt work at all anymore. Also the camera appears to be placing a blue pixel on pictures I take. Its annoying. What should I do?

It's completely situational. Without being able to directly compare the "scratch" on the original poster's iPhone with your iPhone, what gaamcc had happen could not be extrapolated to guess what Apple may do in your situation. It will depend entirely on what the Apple technician diagnoses after examining your iPhone. He/she may decide that any damage is strictly cosmetic and didn't have any connection with the problem you're taking your iPhone in for, or he/she may diagnose the problem as stemming from user damage. You'll just have to see when you go to the Apple Store.
    Regards.

  • Shifting blue pixels

    Mac Pro 10.6.8
I'm having some really odd issues.   My mac has frozen several times in the past few days and now the windows appear "broken" - odd jagged lines and dancing blue pixels...  strangely they appear on the desktop and only some web pages...  it isn't on this page, but its all over my gmail.
    I took some screen grabs.
Going to do a cloud backup and try to upgrade to mavericks to see if that will clear it up...  just wanted to post here in case anyone heard of this - -
will update upon completion of upgrade... or if it all goes kaput.

How should I approach the logicboard issue?
This is a hardware problem, specifically your GPU, and no online troubleshooting will address it. The only way to fix this is to get it physically repaired. You can bring it in to a local Apple Store. I would advise this at the very least, because they will confirm the problem, free of charge, by running a diagnostics test. If a component fails, they will then give you a quote. Out of warranty, a logicboard is a pricey fix.
As an intermediary test, you can use the Apple Hardware Test. Run the extended version, 3X back to back. Note this test will produce false negatives, especially in regards to logicboard related issues.
Using Apple Hardware Test - Support
am backing up via crashplan and considering drive genius 3....  understanding that it may just be a matter of time before it craps out entirely...
This is the best plan of action at this course of time. I would advise against drive genius as a back-up method, as it is not really made for this purpose. I would make a physical backup in addition to crashplan (to my understanding, crash plan is a back-up stored on a server). You can do so via time machine, or software such as Carbon Copy Cloner.
Make an appointment at your local Apple store and confirm the diagnosis. You will then get a price quote and you can decide the best plan from there...sorry to be the bearer of bad news. BOL. Regards.

  • Stuck on blue screen with clouds rainbow, floated ...

    As it says.
When I start Skype, it goes straight to a blue screen with blue clouds and a green rainbow at the bottom. I get no prompt to login. I have followed various guides, such as renaming login to login1, deleting login, restarting the computer, uninstalling then installed skype (which gets me an error code 2734 I think), uninstalled and installed Internet Explorer. I have run windows update and everything is up to date. I also followed the advise in the floated topic, and even after using Command Prompt (which was not in Accessories folder, had to search cmd to find it) and restarting, the 'click this button' does not work.
Skype was working fine on Sunday, and now it is broken. The only thing I have done in the meantime is run a repair tool for Windows Media Player as a game I installed required it to play in game music.
    EDIT: I use Windows 7.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Scripting in Internet Explorer might be disabled by an Antivirus software. What Antivirus software is installed on your computer?
Meanwhile you can try the “legacylogin” workaround, which should enable login to Skype using the old legacy login window. However, you will not be able to login using Microsoft account (email address).
Quit Skype. Make sure that you don’t see any Skype.exe processes in Windows Task Manager. If necessary, then stop these processes.
Open this folder on your computer:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\
You should see there the Skype application file (Skype.exe).  Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). Right click on the newly created shortcut and select Properties and then the Shortcut tab. In the Target field you will see now:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"
Click with your mouse on the text in the Target field and move your curser one space after the last quotation sign and add the text /legacylogin. The text in the Target field should now read:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"  /legacylogin
Click OK to save the changes. Start Skype using this new shortcut. Can you now login to Skype?

  • Blue pixel in iTunes HD movies

I enjoy renting HD movies in iTunes, however, i noticed something really odd. It's barely noticeable when watching, but there's a blue pixel visible in all the HD movies I've watched recently. It is in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. I even re-installed Lion and it didn't fix it. Movies that have the blue pixel- MI4- Ghost Protocol, Atlantis, Puss in Boots, The World is Not enough, When in Rome, and Kung Fu Panda2.
I took the photo out of focus to enhance the blue pixel. The black is the bezel of the screen and the grey is just the backlight of the screen at the end of MI4.
The blue pixel tracks/moves with the full screen player when I do the three finger swipe to go between the desktop/dashboard. I know the screen is okay, just this seems odd...

I have noticed the exact same thing while watching my purchased movies (720p HD or 1080p HD) on iTunes, even tried opening them with QuickTime Player but I could still see the blue pixel in the upper left-hand corner.
P.S I had a fresh install of OSx Mountain Lion and it didn't fix the problem!
    Any Ideas?
Movies that have the Blue Pixel for me: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight & Wall-E

  • Display issue: green, flashing pixels, low resolution on my new MBP 17"

I just bought my MacBook Pro 17" on December 2010 from Authorized Reseller in Dublin.
After couple of days for the first time and now every 2-3 days my MBP's display goes suddenly pixleated with green, shiny pixels and all display appears like low resolution. After closing the lid and opening it again the problem disappears. During that display problem my computer has no issue with performance like: video playing, opening and closing applications, rebooting, etc. Here are some screen shots made by my photo camera during this display issue: http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/809/dsc03872j.jpg http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6670/dsc03879x.jpg http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/7914/dsc03885z.jpg http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/3830/dsc03881g.jpg
I should mention that I also made a screen shot with Shiftcmd3 combination of keys during this display issue and it appears, as you can see http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/8618/screenshot20110123at204.png as it should be - sharp and clear. One of my friend said that maybe I should reinstall operating system, but my guess is that it isn't software (Snow Leopard) issue. By the way, I have all the latest updates.
Please, can you tell me what is the problem, what is causing it and what should I do?
    Thank you.

Ok, guys, I should update my main post about screen issues on my MacBook Pro 17" 2010 model, because it was quiet a big issue. It was actually problem not with display panel (which was completely replaced and which didn't resolved that screen issue at all) but with motherboard which has been replaced (by Mactivate).
After almost 3 months I can say that the computer had no issues since the repair: no screen issues, no noisy running vents.
I must say I am happy with repair made by Mactivate (actually one of few repair services authorized and recommended by Apple). They arranged the pick up with their own currier with no charge, great communication and most of all - they did everything to resolve this quiet unusual issue with my display.
I really and honestly can recommend Mactivate to anyone in Ireland.

  • Blue box with question mark

I previously posted a question regarding a blue box with a question mark in it being displayed instead of a picture. I have updated my Flash player and I have ensured that everything in the quicktime section of the system preferences was checked (except for PDF's).I was asked to post a link to the site I was having a problem with before, however it was password protected. I am again having problems, but I found a site where this occurs that it isn't password protected. Here is the link:
    http://oilers.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=387732
The Blue box is on the left side under the tab for "Tickets". This isn't a huge deal this time, however when this problem occurs on the other site, I need to be able to access the pictures and can't. Thanks for your help!

http://cdn.nhl.com/oilers/images/upload/2008/10/header_features.gif is the missing image in your example.
Safari is reading the page code and knows an image file should appear. It places the ? mark to show you the error.
    No Flash or QuickTime involved.

  • Can I use a blue screen with Final Cut Pro X?

Hi, I am at a school that uses Macbooks and has just purchased a blue screen (with lighting).  I am new at chromakey / blue screening.  I know that you can use iMovie for green screens, but could somebody please tell me what is a good software to use for a blue screen?  Does Final Cut Pro X work with blue screens?
If anyone has any advice I would be very grateful!!
    Thanks,
    From Michelle.

The keyer effect in FCPX works very well with blue screen. Open effects browser and look for Keyer. When you add it to your blue screen clip it will automatically pick up the blue screen and key it out. You also have several controls to fine tune the edges etc.

  • Image to red green blue intengers

    Hello,
I'm trying to extract the three main colours of an RGB image to red green blue values (intengers). Those value will be the sum of all pixels values in the image.
    any ideas?

This was exactly it! Thank you so much!
For future reference - if anyone else gets this issue - you are able to enter kernel params when you press tab on the "boot linux" menu item when the iso loads up; this opens up the options where you can input the parameters and in this instance it was indeed nomodeset.
