Regarding AAC Quality!

Hi,
I wanted to know whether the music provided in Itunes store is AAC VBR or CBR ? if so which one is better and how does this compare with MP3 VBR And CBR? Also wanted to know whether the content provided on Itunes is ripped directly from the original music or its ripped from cds?
Please let me know thanks

Sudarsh,  The songs sold in the iTunes Store are AAC/256 with CBR.  Amazon MP3 uses MP3/256 with VBR, and Google Play uses MP3/320 with CBR.  Most people, using typical equipment and typical listening conditions, will hardly notice a difference among them, but there may be personal preferences.

Usually from the masters.  In some cases, special mastering techniques are used for better quality;  see

is this suficient or i m missing some thing pls tell me

    HI
    endor Evaluation for Purchasing
Define the weighting keys in SM30 - V_T147J.
Weighting keys 01 and 02 are defined in the standard system. You combine the following
weighting shares for the standard main criteria:
Main criterion     Key 01 Key 02
    Price                   1      5
    Quality                 1      5
    Delivery                1      2
    Gen. service/support    1      1
    Ext. service provision  1      2
Define the criteria in SM30 - V_T147G - Double click on the line items
In this step, you define the criteria by which the system computes scores for vendors and
specify whether the scores for the subcriteria are computed manually, semi-automatically, or
    automatically.
You can also store your own methods of computation for the scores for subcriteria in the
form of user exits. The enhancement MM06L001 is available for this purpose.
Define the scope of list in SM30 - V_T147M - Double click on the line items
Define Purchasing Organization data for vendor evaluations in transaction OMGL.
    An example :-
How the system calculates the score for the automatic subcriteria
    "On-Time Delivery Performance"?
The system uses the statistics-relevant delivery date in the purchase order
(Items -> Delivery Schedule) and the goods receipt date to calculate date variances.
You use the statistics-relevant delivery date, for example, if you know that the vendor
will not deliver the material as scheduled on September 15 but on September 30. Enter the
delivery date as September 30, but enter the statistics-relevant delivery date as
    September 15.
In calculating the score for on-time delivery performance, the system will then not use
the actual delivery date, but the statistics-relevant delivery date. This has a negative
effect on the score for this goods receipt.
However, materials planning and control uses the realistic delivery date (September 30)
which the vendor will actually adhere to.
The system considers only goods receipts against purchase orders and scheduling agreements
into stores and the release of GR blocked stock into stores. In the standard system, these
are the movement types 101 and 105.
Minimum Delivery Percentage - OMGL in the On-time delivery section
If you do not want a vendor to receive a very good score if he delivered the goods on time,
but did not deliver the required quantity, you can maintain a minimum delivery percentage
    in Customizing.
Assume you set the Min. del. perc. parameter to 60% and the vendor delivers the goods on
time, but only 55% of the ordered quantity. Although the goods receipt is punctual, it is
not included in the calculation of the vendoru2019s score for on-time delivery performance. So
that the non-scoring of the on-time delivery performance criterion in this case does not
bring an unfair advantage in comparison with a poor score, the vendor is awarded a low score
for quantity reliability. On-time delivery performance is thus always to be seen in
    conjunction with quantity reliability.
Standardizing Delivery Date Variance  - OMGL in the On-time delivery section
To rate delivery date variances in days, maintain the Std.del.time var. parameter.
If you assign a lower standard value, this means that relatively low date variances produce
high percentage variances. If you set a higher standard value, this results in a relatively
    low percentage variance:
    The Std.del.time var. parameter has the value 20. The goods receipt took place on Nov. 27;
the statistical delivery date was Nov. 15. There is thus a difference of 12 days.
The system calculates the percentage variance as follows:
    12 / 20 x 100 = 60
If the Std.del.time var. parameter had the value 60, the variance would be 20%
    (12 / 60 x 100 = 20).
If you do not maintain this parameter, the system calculates the delivery time variance via
the firm zone in the case of scheduling agreements, and via the order date and the
statistics-relevant delivery date in the case of purchase orders.

  • AAC quality

Can you tell the difference between 192 and 224? Is it worth the change if you are going to be running it through a stereo? I heard anything over 200 is best. But I noticed 192 is most popular, why? Why not 320 or 224?

    The Data Speaks for Itself
In numerous comparison tests, AAC comes out on top. Check out these impressive results:
AAC compressed audio at 128 Kbps (stereo) has been judged by expert listeners to be “indistinguishable” from the original uncompressed audio source.*
AAC compressed audio at 96 Kbps generally exceeded the quality of MP3 compressed audio at 128 Kbps. AAC at 128 Kbps provides significantly superior performance than does MP3 at 128 Kbps.*
AAC was the only Internet audio codec evaluated in the range “Excellent” at 64 Kbps for all of the audio items tested in EBU listening tests.*
You be the judge with your ears!

  • Regarding Incoming quality certificate from vendor

    Hi Experts ,
Please explain me with steps how the certificate process is carried out for both in outgoing & incoming case.
    REgards
    vivek

    Hi vivek,
    For Out Going Certificate.......
You need to maintain a Certificate Profile (QC01)
Assign the material to created COA profile. (QC15/QC16)
Then run trx QC21 to take print out of COA, now system will pick the result for the inspection lot,(you have enter in the selection layout for QC21 initial screen). for all those MICs that you have attached to the profile.
    For In coming COA.
Maintain the QM in Procurement data in the QM view MM.
Define the certificate type the vendor furnishes with the delivery, in Q info record (QI01).

  • Which AAC encoding is higher quality?

. . . 320 constant bit rate or 256 VBR? I am about to convert a large number of lossless files and want the best aac quality.

There is a point in audio quality where most people won't notice the difference.
for me that's about anything above a 160 bitrate.
    even in an mp3.
and i think at a bitrate of anything above 200 only extreme audiophiles will tell the difference.
so go with the one that takes up less space.
unless you're really doing something where extreme quality matters. which is unlikely.

  • Question on file Quality

I just signed up for iTunes match and have a question regarding the quality needed for songs to be uploaded to the iCloud.  I have a number of songs on my computer that are encoded in Mono in AAC at 64 kbps.  I know that Apple has demands for quality for the songs it uploads to the cloud.  But, my question is why won't they allow songs that are the 64 kbps if it's a mono song.  Isn't that the same as 128 kbps if the song were encoded in stereo?

No, Songs with lower quality are exactly that, whether stereo or mono.  The iTunes Match process samples the music in an attempt to 'match', of course if the quality is too low this simply will not work.
Match is very much an inexact science, the service would simply risk even worse mismatch issues if it attempted to process lower quality Songs.  Important to note that mismatches occur often as it is, this makes usually for an unwelcome surprise when you expect Song A and wonder why Song B is playing.

  • The AAC/.m4a codec used in iTunes

Hi everybody, I just want to ask a few questions about the AAC codec used in iTunes 7.
I have read on the page (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/technologies/aac/) that the iTunes AAC codec has been developed by Dolby Labs but what I would really like to know is does this codec actually evolve (like new implementations, improvements of quality)?
AAC has been around in iTunes since 2002 or 3 if I'm not mistaking - so is today's codec better than the one used back then or is it the same?
I couldn't find any related information about this in the Apple site. All I could read about an eventual 'evolution' of the iTunes AAC codec was on hydrogenaudio's forum dedicated to listening tests (periodically comparing various audio codecs). The only update on the Apple website (shown above) regarding aac I've noticed since 2002/early 2003 is that recently the link to www.aac-audio.com (which wasn't functional for quite a while anyway) has been removed.
I'm asking all this not just out of curiosity but also because throughout this year I've converted virtually all of my CD's in AAC 128 kbps using the iTunes/QuickTime 7 codec and I just wanted to know is it still the best codec around at 128 kbps.
    PS.
I am aware that AAC is part of the Mpeg-4 audio specs and it has been ratified as such, what I really want to know is has there been any essential improvements made in the iTunes AAC codec since its adoption by Apple (algorithms, implementation, whatever) resulting in better sound quality (through increased compression efficiency)?
I have started a similar topic in the "iTunes for Apple" forum but only one user has replied to me this far.
I could also post links to the listening tests mentioned above where iTunes 6's AAC codec came in 6th place in the 128 kbps category earlier this year. (Hope it's not against this forum's policy.)
Any help on this would be really appreciated.

Thanks for your response mate. I've been out of town for a while so I couldn't post the links to the hearing tests (hope posting these links isn't against forum policy as well).
So here goes - this link is about the ABX/Listening Tests performed in april of 2006 @128 kbps (done with an iTunes 6.+ codec version, which came at 6th place)
    http://www.soundexpert.info/coders128.jsp;jsessionid=JBBFLKCLGLAE
Here's the test @192 kbps (done in july 2006)
    http://www.soundexpert.info/coders192.jsp
These tests are the reason I asked this question on the first place but anyway (I couldn't believe iTunes codec was rated on 6th place, after all it's made by Dolby, right?!!).
Here's hydrogenaudio's Listening Tests forum (where I took the links above from).

  • Image attachment quality in Mail

When I drag an image into a new message, and resize it using the "Image Size" option in the lower right corner of the window, the quality is very poor. No anti-aliasing is being performed, so the resized image looks very pixelated.
To reproduce this yourself, create a new message and drag in a large image. Resize it to small using the Image Size drop-down. You should then see what I'm talking about.
I first assumed this was a preview of some sort and that Mail would use a better method to resize the image when then email was actually sent. So I tested this by sending an image to myself, and it was still pixelated.
I've browsed and searched through the FAQs and Discussions and can't find an answer to this problem. I can't find any preferences in Mail or in the New Message window regarding 'image quality' either.
So, my question is, is there an option to increase the quality of image attachment resizing? I realize I can resize it in an outside application, but that's an extra step I'd rather not have to do...especially since the option is right there in Mail, which is genius.
Any help or insight is most appreciated. Thanks!

The appearance will vary depending on the picture content, but if you start of with a big picture (3000x2000 pixels) and reduce it to 320x240 you are throwing out a lot of pixels. I would suggest going for the medium (640x480) or even the large (1280x960) if you want to preserve any picture quality.
When I am sending a picture I generally use scaling in GraphicConverter first.

  • What is the best way to get CD quality audio in a video with fcpx.

I've been using fcpx to do everything for my videos, but the sound was...below par especially for what I want to do.
I'm looking for the most efficient way of doing thing. I've been trying to record the audio into garageband, edit the sound in there, and then export to fcpx and syncronize.
so I've started and just seemed like a lot of work and was wondering what do people normaly do for a thing like this?

As far as your workflow, that's for an audiophile to chime in. Regarding sound quality in FCPX...
Hmm... "CD quality" is 44kbps. FCPX can handle a sample rate BEYOND that (above a CD's sample rate.) FCPX deals in 48kbps.
When I record my VO, I set it to 48Khz, and a sample size of 16 bits. It sounds wholesome--good enough for my network bosses.
Admittedly, an audiophile may have to step in. But, I'm just showing you the benchmark at which FCPX begins--and it's definitely ABOVE "CD quality."

  • Poor Quality HD Channels

I see alot of posts, regarding  poor quality HD channels. AMC ,IFC ,FOOD NETWORK, USA in regards to macroblocking, tiling, and audio lag, which I am experiencing in RI. Have called many times regarding this issue. Is Verizon working on this? Is it a problem that can be fixed? From what i understand it is a provider issue.
This problem goes back to 2009. Verizon's big selling point is  "crystal clear" channels. They dropped the ball on this one!

  • Music audio quality compared on N8 vs. 5800 etc

Hi, I have looked at the stats regarding audio quality for the N8 compared with the 5800 (which I have) and I see mainly some differences in cross talk... Has anyone done a listening comparison on the audio output for music on these phones and perhaps any of the other Nokia media playing phones compared with these two?  I am mainly interested in the headphone output but will also use it direct to a hi-fi amp. Thanks Paul.
ps. Would be nice to have an app for controlling windows media players wirelessly a bit like the sonos app for iphone/android but I don't think there is such a thing???

I had a quick search for an app like that on the OVI store but i cant see anything that looks good, but there may be some 3rd party ones out there that could work. just be wary of scammers.
As for the quality, i have used both these models for music playback and i cant see any difference in quality apart from the quality of the MP3 or song your using. Hope that helps

  • Quality level maintenance

    Hi,
We had initially three plants .For all those plants quality level is maintained for quality managed materials.
But these quality levels having no task list type, task list group and group counter.
I analyzed and found these are created automatically by system when inspection lot is created provided these (quality managed materials) materials should have dynamic rule defined for the inspection type.
Our problem is system is creating these quality levels not in the first instance i.e. it is creating the quality level while creating inspection lot for the second attempt.
    I have following queries.
    1) what is the use of quality level in inspection lot creation .
    2) How the standard settings, if the quality level is created manually to trigger the quality level at first attempt?
    3) As I have explained earlier we are creating new plant, if we need to upload cutover data for quality level?
If we do not what will happen? If we need to, then how?
    Regards
    Dina

    Hi,
Quality Level: Def: The quality level is a data record that the system automatically updates at the time of dynamic modification (at lot creation or when the usage decision is made), by checking the conditions for an inspection stage change and, if necessary, storing a new inspection stage for the next inspection.
The information in the quality level determines which inspection stage will be used for the sample determination of the next inspection lot. So, Quality Level works in conjunction with DMR.
    1) what is the use of quality level in inspection lot creation .
Quality Level is only for changing Inspection Severity: Reduced-Notma-Tightened Inspections. Because DMR deals with skip lots/char, it keeps changing the Quality level, based on the settings you made in DMR. AQL depends on your industry requirements and is only useful for accepting/rejecting a lot.
    2) How the standard settings, if the quality level is created manually to trigger the quality level at first attempt?
In Standard Settings, Quality Level initially is generally set to Normal Inspn. Based on DMR,  it changes immediately upon UD. Quality Level can be created using the t-code QDL1, as above. You can change  the next inspection severity manually in QDL2.
+3) As I have explained earlier we are creating new plant, if we need to upload cutover data for quality level?
If we do not what will happen? If we need to, then how?+
To start with, you don't have to define any Quality level. However, for DMR, you need to set-up the stages (severities) of inspection. That will ensure that Quality Levels are automatically updaed.  Regards, KrishnaM
