Regarding Access with Oracle

Hello everybody,
how can i migrate the particular table from access to oracle?.I have to migrate particular tables only not a particular database.

Hi,
The best way for you to do this is to create a new blank Access database and import the tables you want to migrate into that database. Then use that new Access database for the migration.
This will ensure the imported tables have no broken links, custom datatypes or formula that are checked during import and they are clean to be used by SQL Developer.
This is also easier than trying to edit the generated XML file or deleting unwanted tables after a full migration.

Using Java Access bridge (Accessibility) with oracle forms 6.0 client

I'm trying to use JAB (java Access bridge ) to capture events in oracle forms 6.0 client .
I've a Jinitiator 1.1.8 and JRE version 1.4x
I've configured JAB as per the installation guide . However the events don't surface in Java Monkey .
Has anybody encountered similar issue ? what is the solution for the issue ??
Also on one of the forums I read Jinitiator 1.3x and above is automatically recognised by Java Access bridge .
For jinitiator version less than 1.3 manual configuration is required . however I haven;'t been able to find any on the oracle forms KB

For database access from Java, you will use JDBC.
For the specifics of the oracle spatial database, you'll have to check the documentation/forum of Oracle.

Runtime Access with Oracle 9.2

I hava a problem when I access to de Deployment Manager with OWB 9.2 to execute the mappings:
"RTC-5260 Fallo al conectar a la plataforma de Runtime. COmprobar host, usuario contraseña y nombre de servicio correcto"
"RTC-5324: Runtime access user is not associated with the specified Runtime Repositori. Please use the runtime Assitant to resolve this problem"
I use the runtime assistant but it is error. I can't connect, what permis its not ok?

When the Runtime Access User is created but the Assistant, you are prompted to enter the Runtime Repository Owner login. If you've just created the Runtime Repository Owner in the same Assistant session, the login will be pre-populated for you. That's how Runtime Access User gets associated with Runtime Repository Owner. The end result of it is that Runtime Access User is granted roles WB_A_X, WB_D_X, WB_R_X, WB_U_X where X is your Runtime Repository Owner. You can check to see if your Runtime Access User has these roles.

for WebDynpro-Projects you can create an .ear-archive in the context menu of your porject ("Create archive") that you have to deploy with SDM. BUT: webdynpro requires WebApplication Server 6.40! You cant use a webdynpro-project in your current ep60sp2-installation.
for portal applications you can export a .par-arcive in the context menu of your project ("Export...", choose "PAR file") that you can import in your portal.
you can't test your application without deploying it to a server. if you haven't got a connection to the server during developing, you have to install a portal or at least a WAS6.20(Java) & EP60SP2 or WAS640(java) & EP60SP>2 locally on your computer.
if you choose to do that, i recommend the WAS6.40(Preview) because you can then develop webdynpros, too.

How do I covert an Access database to Oracle format.

Are you just converting the data? Or are their forms/ applications as well that need to be converted?
Does "convert" imply that this is a one-time process? Or will this be an ongoing process?
Among the tools, the Oracle Migration Workbench is now embedded in SQL Developer. That should assist in migrating the data. If you're trying to convert applications as well, there are tools in APEX to convert Access applications.

Regards.I am using Generic Connectivity in the present.Before that i used to use ODBC to connect ORACLE with MS access but for diffrent client i had to encapsulate the MS access sequel as well any enhancment mess the code.
As well I tried to centralised this practice at server side for that i had to encapsualte these sequel and coding into procedure for the client accesbility.
As well if i had to connect outsource others db like sybase which knows diffrent sequel so i had to cope with other db.
But thanks for ORACLE they give us a very nice NON-ORALCE connectivity tool (generic,transparent gateway) it fade up all those garbage which i compelled to follow.
Its like one interface mutltiple methods :)
However, it also enabled me to control which columns were visible and what they were called in MS access or in Sybase etc.
So i would suggest to OP go for HS service rather old fashioned ODBC with DSN.

Very difficult migration from MS Access to Oracle with SQL Developer

Dear Developers
I have tried to used for one Project Oracle Sql Developer Migration from Access to Oracle (Application Express). Was about an evaluation if Oracle Express (with Application Express) or Mysql (with PHP) as target database.
I am working with Oracle for 14 years and i earn my money in projects related with Oracle. Of course i am sentimental and i push every time when an opportunity comes to have as an option Oracle.
This time beside my sentimental approach the decision was different.
I will tell you why and i hope that someone there will listen and make something for a better Product.
I was trying yesterday the whole day to migrate an Microsoft Access database. A nightmare....
1. Microsoft Access Exporter 2000 was too slow. For a 25 MB Access database, running time was 15 Minutes. And 15 minutes to obtain an undocumented error. I followed your instruction and eliminate all references etc... as you described in HELP. a lot of time necessary to read and do..... After that i obtained an Error #..16. Sorry that i don't provide you with an exact number error. i don't have it right know and personally i am not interested anymore. For this error i don't find nothing in forums about it.... Search again and again..... Every time after waiting 15 Minutes in which you don't know exactly what application does or if really does something. I decided to delete sequentially macros, modules, forms, querys from Access database and see where Exporter stops... Time and time lost for trying and searching.... Finally i obtained my XML file only by keeping my Access tables. The file was produced even if i obtained at the end Error #5:..... Because was an error i am not really sure if the file was completly consistent with my database.
2. I followed the next steps and with some errors (enabling, disabling constraints, objects couldn't be created because of different reasons) i had my Model and Oracle Schema. I have tried to export the data from Access and import it in Oracle. data exported was in UTF8 and SQL Loader Control file doesn't have
LOAD DATA
character set utf8
So i tried to add the string "character set utf8" in my dozens of CTL files - with a freeware of course.....
Maybe you can say that if i knew that from the beginning i would have set my character set in SQL Developer. I don't know and i will not ever try with this product!
So finally after hours of working and trying and playing with my nerves, reading a lot of forums and documentation, i had an Oracle schema, maybe incomplete because of different errors at so much migration stages.
And now i have tried for the first time in my life MySQL Migration Toolkit. I read that for migration to MYSQL this tool is what i needed.
I recommend you to try the product and see something about the quality required for a piece of software. Is not enough if your product runs OK with Nortwind DEMO Access database. It should run OK with all ACCESS databases.
With the tool i have done the job in 5 MINUTES. Simple, efficiently and without errors. At the end i had the SQL Scripts and the DATA imported in the database.
Difficult to say something now. I am sentimental but i asked mysef if you can do something to improve the quality of the product.
What arguments can we provide for a client in Migration from Access to Oracle ???? Can you honestly answer at that?
Please try this MYSQL Migration Toolkit.....Maybe this give you some ideas about simple tasks and about what we really need...

Maybe you can understand why i was so angry...
Yes i understand that your tool try to do more than other even if actually you don't really convert too much.
From Modules to make some procedures where the whole code is commented! .....
For other MDB which i tried to import in APEX the forms where really not usable. Queries are full of errors requires most of the time manual corrections.
I am sorry that i can not provide you with this MDB which cause these problems.
Data and software doesn't belong to me and the company which own it can not provide to you.
What i hope from your product is, even when errors come, to show a better error explanation. At what object in Access error ocures ? This is very important because i can correct my MDB or just delete the module,form,query in cause if SQL Developer doesn't like it....
Just showing an error Error #.... doesn't help me too much. And if an error occurs i don't know if program continues to work or is dead. No information about this. Maybe you can show that your application is alive and does something (working status etc...) ! Anyway we wait long minutes in front of dead screen....

We had already gone through that document earlier. We noticed that when Apllication Profile "*Apllications SSO Type* " is set to SSWA then OA_HTML/AppsLogout is
working fine , but when we set "*Applications SSO Type*" to SSWA w/SSO then OA_HTML/AppsLogout is not working(not redirecting) .Error thrown on web browser is "+500 Internal Server Error Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response+" . we believe that we might have missed some Profile settings that is causing this error.

to connect to a non-oracle datasource, you have to use OCA which
leverages ODBC for that connection. this happens when the report
is executed in the engine, no matter if it is run in client
server or web. if you run it via web, you have to have the ODBC
drivers installed on the SERVER, of course !

I am trying to call a supplier service from SOA/OSB.
But while calling the service it is failing with the below error message
access denied (oracle.wsm.security.WSFunctionPermission http://xmlns.oracle.com/apps/prc/poz/suppliers/supplierService/SupplierService#getSupplierVO invoke)
As per OER cookbook i have attached the "oracle/wss_username_token_client_policy" to the Fusion apps web service.
I am trying to pass security credentials to the service by using all the methods... through composite ..through bpel through wsse header but in all cases i am getting similar error.
Please let me know if some one has called the fusion apps web service to create a supplier of solution to my problem as mentioned above.

I mean the theory what I built on this Authorization/Permission is that:
For the resource - WebService (SupplierService), there is an assigned application role for which the Entitlement/Permission is provided.
Pls. help me in the below items:
a. What is the application role(in role hierarchy) assigned to this resource(Webservice). Which page I need to check(navigation) this and the required credentials..
b. What is the Entitlement provided for this application role for this operation (getSupplierVO) invoke.. Which page I need to check(navigation) this and the required credentials..

Not possible as far as I know.
Probably because ODBC itself (the defined interface) doesn't support it.
There is a commercial MS Access (java only) driver that might support it.

I am new to OBIEE and not familiar with Security part. We have one request from the client to have OBIEE Integration with Oracle Access Manager (OAM) through eternal identity management tool (OID/other LDAP).
I tried google and found some information, but non of them has Step-by-Step process.
Does anyone has document or know good portal which gives step by step information on how to Integrate OBIEE with OAM using external identity management tool?
