Regarding ACR in HADR

Hi,
I have read in online Documentation,
If you want any new connection to be established to the original location in case the problem on the original location is fixed, there are a couple of options from which to choose:
o You need to take the alternate server offline and allow the connections to fail back over
to the original server. (This assumes that the original server has been catalogued using
the UPDATE ALTERNATE SERVER command such that it is set to be the alternate
location for the alternate server.)
What is meant by "take the alternate server offline "? I need to shut down the DR Server or simply need to deactivate the Standby Database temporarily?
Thanks

A normal HADR TAKEOVER at the original primary should fix you up.  The switch will cause the backup server to revert back to STANDBYmode which doesn't accept connections.  ACR should push the connections back to the original primary.

  • Capture SHARPENING in ACR?????????????

    Capture Sharpening in ACR???
OK, after going back and forth with Jeff Shewe a few times here on the forums (and doing some tests and a variety of additional study) I am becoming converted to believing that some "Capture Sharpening" in ACR (before interpolating a file substantially in PS) when done RIGHT can actually improve the
ultimate quality potential of a large, high res print. Believe me, this is new thinking to me. I would like this thread to be anything and everything, any experienced folks would like to throw into the mix regarding ACR "Capture Sharpening."
Questions, observations, links to more information...
This is because I want to absolutely master it and the knowledge of it. I'll start out below with some questions and concerns. Thank you anyone who contributes in any way.
    Mark

Jeff, I have questions for you, if you don't mind...?
OK, I spent the last two days re-reading Bruce Fraser's wonderful book "Real World Image Sharpening" two
more times (I am certified to teach it now!) in attempt to make sure I have every word of the book understood and mastered in my head and in practice (with a twist of my own here and there).
But after reading it, a general question seems to nag me. Since sharpening does not really add any true
detail to a print, but instead, increases the
perception or illusion of detail by artificially increasing contrast in the form of halos specifically at
    edges...
And because your general recommendation to sharpen at 100% view, just
until the image looks "good" without doing any damage to the image, or over-sharpening...
(BTW, for some peoples info, I make large to very large, high end, high res, continuous tone, landscape gallery prints)...
I am having a hard time understanding the
threshold of "damage" to do (or not to do) to an image file in ACR, by essentially increasing contrast halos, which in of themselves, it seems, are a sort of "damage"
    if you will?
Maybe there is a book(s) or article(s) or something out there that can help me figure out how to take "Capture Sharpening" right up to its limitation without going over??? I guess I'm needing more
detailed explanation about how to figure out this threshold?
    Another question...?
Can or does ACR sharpening (or is there a way in ACR sharpening) constrain the sharpening to specific tonal ranges (like when we use USM on a layer with the "blend if" sliders set to protect the top highlight and bottom shadow tones)? This allows the image to handle more sharpening with less damage.
The reason I ask, is because my main concern with "Capture Sharpening" is that I might take the haloing to a certain level, which may end up
limiting the amount of additional sharpening I can do effectively (without damaging the image) in PS after up-sizing, because the halos have reached towards, or close to black and white... (hopefully I can find a better way to re-word that last sentence)...
Sorry if I am asking too many questions... But that is one reason for forums, right, to mull over and learn about issues? I admit, I am an obsessive quality freak with my prints (anyone hear of Christopher Berkett? - I consider myself, sort of, in the same vein as him in terms of the technical quality of prints he strives to make) and I am always on a constant search for as close to perfection as possible, even if it pains me (yet, it is a pleasure!). I know its a sickness, but an enjoyable one!

  • Canon 550d and ACR 5.6?

It seems that a few years ago Adobe was much quicker in updating for newer equipment, even coming out with updates before the new cameras were generally available.
    Wrong...
The timing of when new cameras come out is not under the control of Adobe...neither is the ability to get new camera models to test and decode–that's completely under the control of the camera makers...
What you are seeing is the rather herky-jerky nature of hardware releases followed by software releases, nothing more and nothing less. Some cameras (and their users) luck out because either Adobe gets a camera really early (the higher the retail price the more likely it will get attention from the camera makers) or the timing of the camera is simply fortunate regarding ACR and Lightroom updates.
If you track back over time, Adobe has actually done a remarkable job of staying pretty darn current with new cameras–over 200 models to date. And the whole issue could be mitigated if the camera makers would make more of an effort or adopt DNG which would allow automatic camera support.
Seriously, it ain't Adobe...it the luck of the draw and timing and the fact the camera makers don't do a good enough job supporting 3rd parties...not just Adobe mind you but that includes Bibble, Apple and Capture One as well.

  • Unable to block line item in a schedule agreemnet using ME32L

    Hi Experts,
When I am trying to block/delete one of the line items in a schedule agreement I am not able to do so. I am getting the error message "Document lines of document item (16) are in different fiscal years".
Further the diagnosis message given is "If you are using Funds Management and want to set a carryforward level for the commitments documents, then all line items which belong to a document item (e.g. different schedule lines or account assignments of a purchase requisition belonging to the same purchase requistion item) must be created in the same fiscal year.
Otherwise the criteria for setting this carryforward level are not clear"
The procedure is given as "Check the respective date on which the different line items were updated and adjust it appropriately and instead generate a new document item (e.g. purchase item)"
Can any of you throw some light on this.
    Regards

    Thanks for the input.
The validity of the Schedule agreement is till 31.03.2010.

  • I have PSE 4.0.  How do I get it to read Nikon D300 .NEF's?

    Hi,
I am not a computer expert and I am in a tizzy because I *just* started gaining momentum in learning Elements and then was surprised with a new D300 for Christmas (previously had a D70s which worked great with PSE4.0). So is there any way that I can get my current version of PSE to read these huge NEF files from my D300? I saw the initial message regarding ACR being available but it says 4.0.1 so is there a place where I can find out if I have the ".1" part of Elements? I tried out the Nikon editing software and it just seemed so cumbersome and I would REALLY like to not have to learn a whole new program if I don't have to. I love Elements! Thank you so much for any advice.

You can always use the most recent version of the DNG converter to create digital negative copies of your raw images. Those DNG files contain all of the original raw image data, and can be opened with any version of Camera Raw from 2.4 onward. That means you can always work with the most recent cameras that Camera Raw supports, but only with the version of Camera Raw that is compatible with your version of Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.
This has been a long-standing way of doing things as far as Adobe is concerned. Judging from some of the comments in this thread, apparently some of the people are not aware of the evolution of Camera Raw.
Incidentally, there is only one plug-in for Photoshop Elements for processing raw images. It is called Adobe Camera Raw.

  • TDS on subcontract items only

    Hi experts,
We have a scenario in which
    1. We will send 4 items to the subcontractor
    2. The subcontractor will add 2 items to the assembly
    3. Invoice will be for the full assembly (6 items) + Value addition cost.
Our requirement is that we need to pay the vendor for 2 items he has added and deduct the TDS for the service portion alone.
suggest how to configure this in the system.
    Regards
    ACR.Ruben

    Hi,
You need to define entire sub contracting process for the above scenario.
Check the below links for more details :
    http://www.sap-img.com/materials/sub-contracting-cycle.htm
before that you check the Constraints.
The following functions are not supported in Subcontracting for MRO Processes:
    ·        Goods movement using the Goods Receipt Order function (transaction code MIGO). Other standard goods movement functions, such as goods issue using the Transfer Posting function (transaction code MB1B) and goods receipt for purchase orders (transaction code MB01), are supported.
    ·        Refurbishment orders (standard order type PM04) in PM/CS
    ·        Forward exchange, where a subcontractor returns a serviceable part before the unserviceable part has been sent to the subcontractor.
    ·        Subcontracting MRP area
    ·        Repair of configurable parts
    ·        Archiving programs for serial numbers (object lists) in purchase orders and for certain special stock type tables.
    ·        Grouping, Pegging, and Distribution (GPD) does not take into account Subcontracting for MRO Processes, especially with respect to goods movements and special stock at the subcontractor, that is any special stock that does not have stock type Q.
    ·        In the case of return material authorization (RMA) orders, which you can create from repair orders in Sales and Distribution, the following constraints exist:
¡        There is no special stock indicator for MROsubcontracting in the RMA order or the relevant purchase requisition.
¡        The system does not copy the serial number from the RMA order to the purchase order.
¡        The system creates the return delivery for the original material and serial numbers and does not consider material number changes or serial number changes.
    Hope clear.

  • Vendor details for a GL document

    Hi experts,
We have downloaded some of the GL details from FBL3N transaction. We want to know the Vendor code for these document numbers.
How to get the vendor details for these GL documents using the key fields Accounting document and posting date.
    Regards
    ACR.Ruben

    HI,
    I suggest you do this,
In FBL3N report first 'CHANGE LAYOUT'  by using keys CTRL+F8.  In the resulting window there are 2 panes. Look into the 'HIDDEN FIELDS' pane and select the field 'VENDOR' (you may have to scroll down for this. Move field to the pane to the left that reads 'LINE 1' by using the the single arrow pointing to your left.  This results in the VENDOR field being selected for display in your report.  Click on 'COPY'.  You will now be able to see the VENDOR number displayed in the report.
    Hope this helps.

  • The new ACR 5.5 update will not install in Elements 7.0

    Hello All:
This situation is now becoming ridiculous (well, for me that is).  I just tried to install the new ACR 5.5 update and it is "unable to install" into Elements 7.0.  I downloaded the update several times, unzipped the install file, but when trying to install, it just gives me a message that it is unable to install and to hit the "quit" button.
I have a Vista 64 Bit system with 12 Gigs of RAM.  I've installed Elements 7.0 and Lightroom 2.5 on my system - all with no problems.  For some reason, I could never get Photoshop CS-4 to install at all and I've been through the mill trying to install Photoshop - but nothing worked and had to eventually give up.  Trying to get Adobe support for CS installation on my 64 Bit system has been ridiculous in this regard as each and every time I called, I was connected with some techrep located in India who all they did was "parrot" back what I told them - how frustrating.  But as I mentioned, Elements 7.0 and Lightroom installed just fine.
The previous ACR 5.4 installed just fine into Elements, but now...ACR 5.5 will not install.  It tells me that I do NOT have CS-4 installed so it cannot install.  What's up with that? Has Adobe stopped supporting the latest ACR upgrades for Elements?  What gives?
Does anybody just have just the newest ACR 5.5 plug-in by itself that they can send me so I can just put it in my plug-ins folder (or a place where I can download it)?  Adobe used to just have the plug-in that you could unzip and copy and paste and put it into your plug-in folders - but not anymore.  Now they make it an 82 Meg install program and thus some of my problems.
Can anybody help here?  Why does the install program look for CS-4, yet overlook Elements 7.0 completely.  Helpppppppppp.
    Ben

    Hi Benherrmann,
Sorry to listen that you havent been able to install the Camera Raw 5.5 plugin.
But as far as my knowledge goes for PSE, PSE never lists Camera Raw plugin for updates in the Updater Preferences dialog i.e., if you will launch Help->Check for updates, a updater window will open. If you will check the preferences of that updater dialog, it will tell you that it never checks for updates for Camera Raw plugin unlike what happens in Mac. In Mac Camera Raw updates does get installs just by installing PSE(v6 of course as there is no PSE7 for Mac. Hopefully there will be a v8 for Mac by the end of october as seen in the last release).
Dont know exact reason why Adobe had configured it in that way? why there is some difference between Win and Mac.
So it prompts me that somehow you need to install Ps CS4 on the machine to get the patch installation through updater. Although this is not Ps forum, would you mind telling what error/issues are you facing while installing Ps CS4?

    Ankush

    Ben

First off, did you download the right Camera Raw 5.5?  If you go to the Camera Raw 5.5 updates page, I think the downloadable there is for Photoshop.  There should be a line that has a link to a Photoshop Elements download page.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4582
If you installed ACR before then you know the procedure.  Just in case you don't, try this:
Here's what I do for ACR installs:
I navigate to the PSE/Plugins/file formats folder.
I rename the existing Camera Raw.8bi to Camera Raw.8bi.old
    I download the ACR 5.5
Right-click on the zipped folder and select Extract All...
I right-click on and select copy for the Camera Raw.8bi file
I then right-click in an open area of the File Formats folder and select Paste.
I open PSE6 and drag a couple of NEF's to it.  ACR opens and shows the NEFs ready for editing.
That's it.  My understanding has always been that installing ACR updates is not your normal 'install' like with other programs.  It's a copy/paste of one file.
    Hope that works for you....
    Regards,
    dale

  • Is ACR 7.1 available for Mac OS 10

    I have ACR 6.4.1

"ACR" being what, exactly? If you mean Adobe Camera Raw, 6.7 seems to be the most recent version available for Mac unless a later version is bundled with CS6, though this is a question best directed to Adobe for confirmation.

  • ACR won't save files other than in original file folder.

This has just started.  All was fine until now.  I recently was working on several files in camera raw.  Went to save files but discovered that I am unable to save the image, no matter what file format I choose -- TIFF, PSD or JPG -- unless I put it in the original folder it came from.  For example, I would choose Save Image from ACR, then Save in New Location, then Select Folder, choose another file folder (say Desktop) and then it would try to save it but would tell me the file could not be created.  If I choose Save in Same Location, everything works fine.  I AM able to open the RAW file in Photoshop and Save it from there.  As I said this is happening all of a sudden.  I am working with Vista 64 bit and with Photoshop 64 bit.  I tried using the 32 bit program but the same thing happens.  Any suggestions or should I just completely uninstall and reinstall?  I have checked and have all the latest updates for both Photoshop and ACR.  Thanks.

    Hi Gingerdee1,
    Yes strange ....
-Do you have the right privelige to save at an other location..... >>privelige-user .... or..... >>folder-protection (read-only)... >> or network privelige changed
-Is that disc full maybe at that location....
-Do you try to save a file with illegal characters in the file name...
    -Working with other RAW-files.............
-Did you change any other situation....than before...

  • Capture vs. Content Sharpening in Lightroom and ACR

    Hi,
I have a question regarding sharpening in Lightroom and ACR. In the information I have read, many authors point out that Lightroom and ACR's detail panel is optimized to provide control over capture sharpening. In a post that I read recently by Jeff Schewe, he clarified that and said that we are really sharpening for both capture and content with the detail panel in Lightroom.
That is confusing to me because after reading Bruce Fraser's book on sharpening, capture and content sharpening were treated as two different processes. If I understood correctly capture sharpening for digital captures was based on the characteristics of the camera and the file size of the image, with larger megapixel files receiving a smaller radius. In addition, I read that the radius in content sharpening is dictated by the dominant characteristics of the subject matter being sharpened, with high frequency subject matter receiving a smaller radius and low frequency receiving a higher radius.
The reason I am confused is that it appears that capture and content sharpening for the same digital capture can at times be quite different. For example, I believe that the book suggests a radius for an 11 megapixel capture of .4. If the image content calls for a sharpening radius of 1.3, what do I do? In Lightroom/ACR I can only choose 1 radius.
In all the reading I have done regarding the proper use of Lightroom and ACR, it suggest that you should use a radius that is suited to the image content. So it appears that we are that we are being encouraged to perform content sharpening only with Lightroom and ACR. What happened to the "capture" sharpening portion of the process?
Since Lightroom and ACR are capable of recognizing the camera make and model as well as the file size, are they applying capture sharpening behind the scenes that is tailored to that specific camera and file. If not, then how are we achieving both capture and content sharpening in the same operation?
Sharpening for both capture and content in one pass would seem to conflict with some of the basic concepts elaborated on in Bruce Fraser's book. I am assuming that since Lightroom is using Photokit Sharpener routines, that they have accounted for the capture portion of the sharpening, but I don't see that stated explicitly anywhere in anything that I have read. If they have, I say kudos to everyone involved as that would be great. I'm just looking for a clearer understanding of what's happening.
If anyone can shed some light on this topic I would be very appreciative.
    Thanks,
    John Arnold

    >Since Lightroom and ACR are capable of recognizing the camera make and model as well as the file size, are they applying capture sharpening behind the scenes that is tailored to that specific camera and file. If not, then how are we achieving both capture and content sharpening in the same operation?
The answer is that the detail section crosses over into creative territory and is not strictly "capture sharpening," although that is what is mostly meant to do.
Following the ultimate logic of the "sharpening workflow" might make you conclude that Capture sharpening and output sharpening are purely scientific steps where you should not make ANY creative decision at all and that creative decisions are only to be made in the creative sharpening step. In the real world, there are creative decisions and decisions determined by the content matter that enter into the capture step too just like in the output step. You might like extra-crunchy prints for example, but somebody else might prefer softer prints making you approach the output sharpening with a creative intent. The sharpening workflow was probably (Jeff will know more about the history) more of an attempt to arrive at a more rational way of approaching the process and to provide a guideline. It is probably not meant to rigidly separate the workflow up in defined steps where in the 1st step you're not allowed to think or look at the image, in the second step you can go completely wild, and in the last step you have to close your eyes again. The goal was probably to make the photographer realize that the different steps have a different purpose. Not to make you turn off your creative genius or to treat the process like a black box.
My approach to this, inspired in some part by Jeff's many posts on this, is to make the image look good at 1:1 using the detail tool in Lightroom/ACR. This is inherently driven by content of course as you use visual feedback. If your image is large swaths of plain color separated by sharp transitions with little structure, you probably do not want a high setting on the detail slider as you might induce halos and you probably want to use some masking. Conversely, if you shoot brick architecture, a high detail value might look good. If you shot at high ISO, you might need a different approach again to not blow up noise. Also, portraits might need a different approach. After the 1:1 optimization, I sometimes selectively sharpen (or blur!) parts of the image (rare but can be effective - example would be people's eyes). Then for the output step I use appropriate output sharpening for the medium according to my taste. You see that this is not rigidly following the workflow, but still is in the spirit.
