Reg:Activity Data Collector
Hi All,
Greetings!!!
Happy New Year!!!
Coming to the query, i need to implement Activity Data Collector Report, but the configuration needs an application named "com.sap.portal.activitydatacollector"; but that is not available in our enterprise portal 6.0. So kindly tell whether this comes under which support package. Or to resolve this issue.
Thanks
PiiyushHello,
If you needed a graphical front-end or multiple reporting capabilities, one would need to build something themselves as described at the link above, which may not be convenient, nor offer all the usage stats you are looking for. The ADC simply does not offer a graphical front-end and does not come with integrated reports.
Otherwise a far easier solution is to switch to a 3rd party application like Click Stream SAP Portal analyzing solution from Sweetlets. (http://www.sweetlets.com/click_stream_overview.html or http://ecohub.sdn.sap.com/irj/ecohub/solutions/clickstream) This plug n' play application offers various SAP Portal usage reports complete with a visually appealing Flex frontend.
Good luck.

Activity Reporting X Activity Data Collector
Hi,
there are two types of activity reporting in SAP Enterprise Portal, Activity Data Collector and Activity Reporting. The SAP documentation for the Activity Data Collector
(http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/47/8ac2e51b141e1ee10000000a42189d/content.htm) specifies that the "Directory Name" property can be either a relative path or an absolute path on the server (<drive>:\dir).
However, the SAP documentation for the Activity Reporting (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/45/74eeda9ba26975e10000000a114a6b/frameset.htm) does not explicitly specify that the "Directory Name" property can be an absolute path on the server.
I've started the Activity Reporting for KM documents, but I don't have permissions to re-start the server anytime in order to test all the possible configurations. For now, the "Directory Name" is an absolute path. Can the "Directory Name" property of Actitity Reporting (KM) be an absolute path on the server? In order to start the Activity Reporting (KM), is it required to first start the Activity Data Collector?
Thanks in advance,
DanielHi Daniel,
I don't think you need to activate the first Active Data Collector you mentioned,
there are two ADC releases - one for Portal and one for KM
Does your requeriments specify you must use an absolute path? Otherwise I'd
suggest using a relative path (/usr/sap/<SID>/...) - haven't tested absolute paths though.
so I don't know if that'd work.
There is How-To guide at SDN with detailed explanation of these topics, search and
elearning pages isn't working for me atm else I'd paste you the link but look for it:

Extracting/Uploading Portal Activity Data Collector data in BI for reports
Hello Experts,
I am looking for the approach where we can upload the data collected by portal activity data collector service into BI for generating report from BI. If anyone has done this before, what are your strategy in this case? I think Portal Activity Data Collector is more detailed over Portal Activity Reporting. Any thoughts on generating the custom reports?
Kindly help me with your valuable information
Thanks,
AmeyaHello Ameya,
We are using Activity Reporting service for KM activity tracking and activity data collector for PCD access logs. What we do in our environment is , we have created a custom tablespace in our oracle DB of portal. We upload these logs to db using shell scripts (flat file format, later which is converted to a more maningful schema structure which can be queried upon). We have specific procedures in db for getting the required reports.
Another option would be to upload to solution manager where the reports can be generated using BI.
File formats of these Activity reports can be modified by configuration.

Activity Data Collector (ADC) - Portal Activity Report Dependancy
Hello all,
I have configured the Activity Data Collector (ADC) and it is working as designed.
But when I stop the Portal Activity Report, the other activity reporting feature, the ADC stops working too.. Does anybody seen this behavior and know why this is happening? We want to get rid of the PA Report, because it seems to be bug-ridden.
Thanks,
Raj BalakrishnanHi,
If you are considering switching to ADC, please remember that it is a little bit different kind of report. There is a SAP Note 1084379 - Portal Activity Report - Latest version (SDA file) that can help you to solve the Activity report bug problem. In case you willing to try ADC
1. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Service Configuration.
2. In the Portal Catalog, navigate to the portal service at Applications -> com.sap.portal.activitydatacollector
-> Services -> DataCollectionHook.
3. Right-click DataCollectionHook, and select Configure.
4. Set the property Activate Data Collector to true, after youu2019ve switch the Activity report to false of course.
For more information use

Activity Data Collector & Web Analytics Tool
Hello,
Has anyone used a Web Analytics tool, such as WebTrends, to analyze the Activity Data Collector logs/files?
I would appreciate your input on this matter. We are looking to tack/report on the portal usage (iViews, pages, etc).
Regards,
OmarHi Omar,
Why not go for Portal Activity Report to monitor Portal Activities and also users.
The portal activity report feature enables portal administrators to gather and present information about portal activity, including information about the users who logged on to the portal and about the content that was viewed.
The feature includes an iView that can display a portal activity report with one of the following:
a) Information about the number of users who logged on during a specified period of time
This type of portal activity report also displays a graphic showing the change in the number of users logged on over time.
b) Information about the users who logged on
c) Information about the number of users who visited each page and iView.
Read more about the same on
[Portal Activity Report|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/58/728ea01cf64fff996b827f2a06f9b1/frameset.htm]
Hope this helps,

Edited by: Sowmya B on Sep 30, 2009 1:43 PMHi Prasanna,
Thanks for the reply.
Actually there are about 3 to 4 files which are of type .open and they have created long back. Are those files still getting populated. If we set the "hour to close all files" to 0 it should close the open files and create the new(fresh) files for the next day right?
According to the documentation in help portal, "Files may be closed before reaching this limit(Max File Size), as all files are closed at the hour specified in the Hour in the day to close all files property."
Then how come some old files are still getting populated?
Midnight means wat time in particular? Plz explain
About timestamp is it the time the file was created in some format?
If anyone knows plz explain the format of timestamp

Configuring Activity data collector
Hi gurus,
I'm trying to configure the Activity Data Collector to run by following this:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/46/e4dd28dc8e72dde10000000a114a6b/content.htm
However, I went to the path which I specified in DIrectory Name, but there is nothing there. What could be the possible error?Hi Raj
You need to wait until GMT 0.00 because Activity Data Collector is configured in such a way. If you take a look at the link to help.sap.com from first post, you can find the following property there Hour in the day to close all files. This property is responsible for the time when files are closed and new files are started.

Activating Activity Data Collector
Hi,
I have configured the activity Data Collector according to the below documentation.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/47/8ac2e51b141e1ee10000000a42189d/frameset.htm
But it appears that the ADC only starts colllecting logs, if the Portal Activity Report Service is also turned on. I thought ADC was supposed to be a competing activity collection technology and I dont understand this dependancy.
Am I right in this or am I missing something else?
Thanks

User IP Address in ADC (Activity Data Collector)
Hi all,
I would like to use Activity Data Collector. First previews of the generated logs looks fine but I miss the logged User IP Address.
Does someone know how to get the IP Address?
Maybe I missed a parameter, so please tell me which parameter logs the User IP Address (NOT the server).
ADC file format / parameter: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/46/e4de7fdc8e72dde10000000a114a6b/frameset.htm

Problem with Activity Data Collector with web dynpro
Hi Gurus,
We try to use the Activity Data Collector to create portal statistics. We activate the service, define the file formats, and files generates successfully. After that, we load those files into BI, and create some query. Analyze queries look the following problem:
There is a web dynpro application which in portal (in web dynpro iview), and the log files non contains every hit.
For example, 2000 users used this application, but the log files contains only 13 users.
Can yout help me, what is the problem?
ThanksDwa-
Did you create activity reporting service similar to below link.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/45/74eeda9ba26975e10000000a114a6b/frameset.htm
If you have used it. Activity reporting service which you created will not record the Webdynpro activity. I think the above one is more of KM reporting service.
Try creating activity report with below link. But portal version required is EHP1.
Portal Activity Data Collector using Solution Manager

Hi all,
I'm working with the Activity Data Collector so that I can see which KM files have been accessed. I'm trying to get the main file format field to display for me the ip address of the person who accessed the file in KM. This is a pretty typical thing to display in web server log files, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it here.
Also, I'm looking for a list of the properties available for use with the rfo.up code.
Here is the web site that I'm using for my information on this:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/46/e4de7fdc8e72dde10000000a114a6b/content.htm
Thanks!

We are using the activity collector, but I have not seen IP address as a parameter.
I have configured ours to use:
%Orfo.sid%%Stab%%Orfo.t(d-MMM-yyyy hh:mm:ss,GMT)%%Stab%%Orfo.un%%Stab%%Orfo.qs%%Stab%%Orfo.bt%%Stab%%Orfo.uid%%Stab%%Orfo.un%%Stab%%Okmc.et%%Stab%%Okmc.linktype%%Stab%%Okmc.folder%%Stab%%Okmc.displayname%%Stab%%Okmc.targeturl%%Stab%%Okmc.hr%%Stab%%Okmc.g%%Stab%%Okmc.hor%%Stab%%Okmc.resourcetype%%Stab%%Okmc.contenttype%%Stab%%Okmc.created%%Stab%%Okmc.createdby%%Stab%%Okmc.modified%%Stab%%Okmc.modifiedby%%Snl%
However, several parameters (like SID, User Name, UID) do not get logged for Web Page Composer files, which is disappointing.
Also, I would like to log the file's folder (Okmc.folder) location, but that does not get logged for any files.
I have looked at the config, but I am not sure if I am missing anything.
Has anyone noticed this? Or do you have any issues with logging for WPC files?
