Regarding an Item being "Expensed" or "Inventory" categorization
Dear All,
I am from an Engineering and Procurement based organization utilizing Oracle EBS as an ERP solution. As a engineering company, we maintain a lot inventory (below EBIDTA Line) in the form of tools, equipment etc. At the same time, as any company would include, we have lot of items which are expensed (above EBIDTA line).
We are taking part in this transformation exercise within our company and modifying a lot of our existing oracle process flows. In midst of these changes, we have come up with a conclusion that no item created in oracle should categorized as "Expense" or "Inventory" at the time of creation. It should be the purpose of consumption which should categorize the item as "Inventory or Expense"
However there is a contradiction from some of our peers that no item in oracle can be created without categorizing it as "Expense" or "Inventory" or "Asset".
I consider that as a flaw in the system because no item in the system can be categorized at the time of creation but it should be nature of consumption of the item which should determine the category of item. This seems logical in business and systems process.
However, I would be very much interested to hear from all you. Please advise if it is mandatory as per Oracle to categorize the item while creation.
Sorry forgot to ask one more clarification, If a purchase order is raised with destination type as "inventory" or "expense", does it overwrite the item type and proceed with attaching the item type based on the destination type chosen ??

Thnx for ur timely reply, should I attach this category set to items in all INV orgs in that OU or only to items in that particular IO?
Bcoz, I have multiple IOs and multiple master organizations with in my operating unit.

We are using PDA device to enter counted qty before that we will arrange all articles based on MC and we will distribute the work to different counting teams. We have a Z program developed for PDA with following logic.
Pseudo Logic
1) Application is used to create Physical Inventory Count.
2) There are 2 options provided for physical Inventory Count
i) With Reference of Physical Inventory document
ii) Without Reference.
3) If with reference is chosen , Inventory document no. is available for input
4) If stock type is entered in without reference then vendor is mandatory for input.
5) User can enter the site, storage location and the following validations will be done on these screen inputs
u2022 Validate the site against SAP entry and check whether the ser has authorization in the site
u2022 Validate the storage location
u2022 Validate Vendor if entered
u2022 Validate Physical Inventory doc no. if entered
6) In second screen, user will scan EAN/UPC number of the article and the following validations will be done.
u2022 Validate the EAN/UPC number. Check whether the number is available in SAP
u2022 Check whether the article is extended for the site
u2022 Get the base unit of measurement for the article
u2022 Get the article description from the table
u2022 Get the conversion factors for the barcode unit of measurement
u2022 Get Stock on hand for the article
7) Perform the following validations on the unit of measurement input
u2022 Check whether the unit of measurement is available in the system
u2022 Check whether the unit of measurement is defined for the article
8) Perform the following validations on the quantity entered by the user
u2022 Check the format of the quantity input
9) Move all the details along with quantity to a buffer table. Clear all the input fields for the next set of scan and move the current details to the last scanned variable for display
10) In case duplicate scanning of article, cumulate quantities instead of adding new entry to the buffer table
11) If the user click on option DISP, call the third screen
12) In third screen, all the EAN/UPC numbers will be displayed with an option for scrolling and removal
13) When the user choose option SAVE from the third screen, create physical Inventory document and update the count by following the below steps
u2022 Prepare the header parameters for the BAPI
u2022 Prepare the line Item parameters for the BAPI
u2022 Create PI document using the BAPI_MATPHYSINV_CREATE_MULT and BAPI_MATPHYSINV_COUNT
u2022 Trigger error message in case of any failure
14) Clear and refresh all the variables and internal tables to proceed
15) Create HTML templates for the screen in SE80 under the internet service ZNESTO
16) Publish the IAC templates for the screens in SE80 under the internet service ZNESTO

Syncing a blackberry curve with Outlook 2003 on Exchange 2003. Using internet email for blackberry. When syncing, the data moves between the device and Outlook without an issue. However, I constantly get an error message about one item being skipped. It will say Address Book Handheld 0: Outlook 1 and to 'see the log file for details'. I look at the log file but can't really get a clear picture of what is going on. It also repeatedly tells me it is going to add items to the Calendar, even though they have already been synchronized. I removed Desktop Manger entirely and downloaded and reinstalled the newest version. I exported all contacts to a PST, deleted them, synched to empty the contacts, imported back to Contacts and resynched. Same message. Do I have a corrupt Contact? How do I find out?

Aggregates can be built out of other aggregates to reduce the amount of data to be read and, hence, to improve the roll-up performance Aggregate hierarchy is determined automatically.
In order to use an aggregate in the first place, it must be defined activated and filled. When you activate it, the required tables are created in the database from the aggregate definition. Technically speaking, an aggregate is actually a separate BasicCube with its own fact table and dimension tables. Dimension tables that agree with the InfoCube are used together. Upon creation, every aggregate is given a six-digit number that starts with the figure1.

Line Item and High Cardinality
When compared to a fact table, dimensions ideally have a small cardinality. However, there is an exception to this rule. For example, there are InfoCubes in which a characteristic document is used, in which case almost every entry in the fact table is assigned to a different document. This means that the dimension (or the associated dimension table) has almost as many entries as the fact table itself. We refer here to a degenerated dimension. In BW 2.0, this was also known as a line item dimension, in which case the characteristic responsible for the high cardinality was seen as a line item. Generally, relational and multi-dimensional database systems have problems to efficiently process such dimensions. You can use the indicators line item and high cardinality to execute the following optimizations:
Line Item Dimensions
Line item: This means the dimension contains precisely one characteristic. This means that the system does not create a dimension table. Instead, the SID table of the characteristic takes on the role of dimension table. Removing the dimension table has the following advantages:
¡ When loading transaction data, no IDs are generated for the entries in the dimension table. This number range operation can compromise performance precisely in the case where a degenerated dimension is involved.
¡ A table- having a very large cardinality- is removed from the star schema. As a result, the SQL-based queries are simpler. In many cases, the database optimizer can choose better execution plans.
Nevertheless, it also has a disadvantage: A dimension marked as a line item cannot subsequently include additional characteristics. This is only possible with normal dimensions.
High Cardinality
If your dim table size exceeds the 20% of your fact table then you can say it as high cardinality, for ex: your fact table contains 100 records and your customer dimension contains 25 records means this dim is with high cardinality. you can check with your client for the expected records for those dimensions or for the info objects which you define in one dimension. to know the sizes of the dimension tables and fact tables you can runa a program in SE37 SAP_INFOCUBE_DESIGNS, it displays all your info cubes fact and dimension tables with sizes, if any dimension exceeds the more than 10% to 20% it will be in RED.
It means that the dimension is to have a large number of instances (that is, a high cardinality). This information is used to carry out optimizations on a physical level in depending on the database platform. Different index types are used than is normally the case. A general rule is that a dimension has a high cardinality when the number of dimension entries is at least 20% of the fact table entries. If you are unsure, do not select a dimension having high cardinality.

The SharePoint item being crawled returned an error when attempting to download the item.

Are there user exits after Workflow items being created
Hi all:
Here is my situation, I want to create a change document object on table SWWWIHEAD, which is the table of workflow items. Whenever a workitem is created, I want to send the information of this item to an webservice outside of ECC.
The first thing come to my thought is the change document, and use the change document to link with an event. But we need to find the place to insert the code of call the function *WRITE_DOCUMENT generated by change document. Are there any one know if there are user exits that I can insert the code after a work item being created or updated?

For this you have to use WarehouseInfo template with which you have to run WarehouseInfo_OITW and Item Master data template both simultaneously.......
The template is there in the same folder of Item Master Data......

What fields in my item master will reflect that its inventory only and not for sale? i'm managing GL accounts by Item group

1 - Do not select sales item setup when you create the data. This will be your identifier that you are not selling this item and If you create a sales transaction this item will not appear in the selection list.
2. Update the the GL setup in the item group.

Shipping status becomes backordered even when item is present in inventory
Hi,
1.The shipping status becomes 'Back ordered' after pick ship release process.
2.The onhand quantity form(inventory-->on-hand,Availability--->on-hand quantity)
shows zero(even when 100 qty is present) when queried for that particular item.
3.When tried increasing the quantity (inventory--->transactions-->miscellaneous transaction)it shows 100 quantity available. If i try adding more it shows the following error:
APP-INV-05647:The remote call failed because no manager was available.
I checked the following.
1.The status of the four interface managers are active.
2.The columns for "Available" and "Target" for the Inventory Manager and the Remote Procedure Manager were not equal and tried restarting them. Even then the numbers are not equal.
how to solve this problem?

Probably the quantity you are seeing in the ATP form must be reserved and so your pick release is getting backordered.
I did a quick Metalink search for your error, and the following is the result:
