Regarding apache plug-in installation for Weblogic 8.1

I am running into this error when I am trying to install the apache plugin module mod_wl_20.so on my apache web server running on Linux machine. the weblogic server is also on the same physical machine
I edited the httpd.conf file with this line
LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_20.so
After doing it when I run the command apachectl -t or httpd -t to verify the syntax it is giving me this error.
<b>httpd: Syntax error on line 199 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: API module structure `weblogic_module' in file /etc/httpd/modules/mod_wl_20.so is garbled - perhaps this is not an Apache module DSO?</b>
I have copied the mod_wl_20.so from weblogic81/server/lib/linux/i686/ to httpd/modules which is my ServerRoot
I do have mod_so.c enabled, which is confirmed by the command apachectl -l
Can anyone please help me out why I am not able to load this module.

I found the reason why I was running into it.
Weblogic 8.1 don't have a *.so for Apache 2.2 yet
Either need to downgrade Apache 2.0.x or do this:

If any of you guys have some other way to configure plugin ...let me know
Thank you

Can anyone tell me where I can get a plugin(mod_wl.so) for Apache 1.3.X for weblogic 8.1 on Windows. The plugins are avaiable for solaris,AIX and linux. But I could not find any thing for Windows. The plugins are available for Apache 2.X.

I have Apache running on two Linux web servers (dell2 and dell3)
and WLS running on two Linux app servers (dell5 and dell6).
I can also run Apache on two Sun/Solaris web servers (sun2 and
sun3). I have the AcceptBacklog parameter set to 100 on each
WLS Server. There is no problem when I drive the WLS servers
through mod_wl.so running on the Sun servers. The CONNECTION_REFUSED is only seen
when I try to drive them through
    mod_wl.so on the Apache/Linux systems.
What is the ap_proxy.cpp file referenced in the error message?
It doesn't appear to be part of the Apache source code yet I
can see references to various ap_proxy functions.

You should not run apache and wls on the same box for load testing since

    plugin does not maintain keep-alive
connection to weblogic server. Also try to increate the acceptBacklog

on wls, the default is 50 which might not
    be big enough for load.

As described in a posting yesterday, I got the mod_wl.so working
with WL6.0 SP1 in clustered mode on two Linux 6.2 systems
running Apache 1.3.12 driving two clustered WL servers.
However, under moderate stress I see the following message
appear in the Apache error log after about a minute and the
throughput drops and response time skyrockets:
    [error] CONNECTION_REFUSED [os error=11, line 1342 of
    ap_proxy.cpp]
I've not played with the Apache source but my guess is that this
error message is meaningful to the developer of mod_wl.so
The two WL servers can handle a workload four times heavier than
what I'm describing here using Sun/Solaris web servers running
Apache 1.3.9 and the Solaris version of mod_wl.so
Any pointers would be much appreciated

  • How to configure Apache Plug-in CookieName for multiple session cookies?

I'm deploying an ear file with 2 web applications (.war files) in it and each .war
has its own CookieName defined in the weblogic.xml file. I need to set up the
Apache plugin for Weblogic to look at both of them and not just one. Can I simply
add both CookieName lines into my httpd.conf or will this not work?
    Thanks,
    -wr

We are facing exactly the same need.
If you tested it and got answers, we will be happy to hear from you.
Concerning alternatives, we thought of defining the CookiePath to the contextroot of each WebApp. In our case, the name (and so then the contextroot) of our WebApps is always changing (it includes the version number), so we would have to change the weblogic.xml at each build which we would like to avoid ...
Apparently the CookiePath can also be set to a "basis" for "begings with" test. See http://groups.google.fr/groups?q=weblogic.xml session-param CookiePath&hl=fr&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=3e84a75a%[email protected]&rnum=1 so it could be less harmfull but anyway we do not put too much confidence into this kind of behaviour for future WLS sp/versions :(
    Any help appreciated,
    Philippe.

  • Query regarding the People Tools installation for HRMS & Financials install

    Hi all,
    Greetings,
After a lot of struggle, I was able to install Peoplesoft HRMS 9.1 on People Tools 8.50 ( had faced a lot of version conflict issues for almost 2 months after I was able to get up this). Now, the challenge is that the client wants me to install Financials (9.0/9.1) and Campus Solutions on the same machine. As such the Weblogic, Tuxedo etc have been installed already, I am unable to adjudge, if we need to install People Tools again, for every module in PeopleSoft ( I was told by one of my friends that for every module like HRMS, Campus Solutions, Financials of PeopleSoft we install, we need to install a subsequent PeopleTools as well, unlike, all of them using the same PeopleTools). Would greatly appreciate if you can help with any table/chart that helps with the version compatibility as well.
    Kind Regards,
    Vikram

Q.Please suggest us on below queries:
    a) Peoplesoft Financials 9.0 -- Which version of PT is compatible (to avoid upgrade of either application database or peopletools after we install & configure them)As far as I know, the application 9.0 was initially built on PT8.48 (to avoid PTools upgrade but quite old now).
    b) Peoplesoft Financials 9.1 -- Which version of PT is compatible (to avoid upgrade of either application database or peopletools after we install & configure them)The latest FSCM9.1 recut, feature pack March-2011, is available for download on edelivery only within Peopletools 8.51 (so, no upgrade necessary). But again, 9.1 application was initially built on 8.50 (SR required to request media).
Most likely, you should go for the latest version appl/ptools to be able to upgrade as the easiest as possible if needed, or for starting project from scratch, try to keep the same version of components over your application and tools.
Not sure where you want to go though and what is driving your decision.

  • Installer for Weblogic Portal Sever

Hi, am trying to install the Weblogic Portal server 10.3.2 from the following link.
    From => http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/wlp/index.html
I downloaded the file that is for "Windows x86" as i am on Windows XP/SP3.
1)What do i need to do next ? Seems like it is not a .exe file, and if so how do i get it started to install ?
    2) On another machine, i have Weblogic app server of the same version, will it allow to install the portal with this existing version of App server ?
    Thanks in Advance.

I guess one way, which seems to work is , When the pop-up appears asking for the location where u want to download the exe, save the filename as "portal103_win32.exe" , instead of accepting it as is.

  • Can't Open PDF Plug-in Installer for Firefox on Macintosh

When I first clicked on the dmg, it asked me to choose an application to open it. Most applications were grayed out but Adobe Reader was not, so I chose that, but then I got the message: "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found."
I tried deleting the acrobat_ittools_ff_p1_011012 folder and starting over several times. Now whenever I click on the dmg it doesn't even ask what I want to open it with - it just tells me it will open with Adobe Reader and I get the same result: "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found."
I tried Preview, but that didn't get me anything - not even an error message. Is there some other way to open the dmg?

I found a fix. I didn't need the Adobe PDF Viewer FF plugin after all. I deleted the regular Adobe PDF Viewer plugin from the Library and reinstalled Adobe Reader without deleting the old one. Now FireFox gives me a a window that asks me if I want to download the PDF.

  • Question about the Apache plug-in and WL server

We have a bunch of Weblogic app-servers, and I want to set up Apache servers to
front-end them. Here is what I'd like to do:
    (1) Load balancer forwards requests to one of Apache servers
    (2) Apache serves the static content (html, gif, css etc.)
    (3) Apache servers forward the request to one of the alive Weblogic servers, with
requests for the same Weblogic session should preferably stay with the same Weblogic
    server.
The catch is that we are not using Weblogic clustering - we have our own application-specific
light-weight clustering (virtually no replication of dynamic state). All I want
is that the Apache plug-ins keep forwarding the packets to the same Weblogic server
for a session (unless the server dies), and that thsi property hold even if multiple
client requests (for the same session) are rotated across multiple Apache servers.
The first is really important, the second just nice-to-have (I can setup load-balancer
    with sticky sessions if needed).
The Apache plug-in documentation seems to suggest that we must use Weblogic clustering
for us to be able to specify multiple Weblogic servers in the plug-in config file,
    but is that really required?
Second, does the session cookie uniquely identify the Weblogic server or does
the Apache plug-in keep the mapping between the cookie and the server? Also, does
this answer depend on whether we use Weblogic clustering or not?
The answer depends on the protocol between the Apache plug-in and the Weblogic
server. Is it documented? Available under NDA?
Your help will be really appreciated!!
    thanks
    -amit

is that the Apache plug-ins keep forwarding the packets to the same Weblogic
    server
for a session (unless the server dies), If the session id is found in the cookie, request or postdata (in that order),
the plugin will preserve the sticky session.
and that thsi property hold even
    if multiple
client requests (for the same session) are rotated across multiple Apache
servers. The rules apply to all apache instances as the single instance.
BTW, the preferred server from the session has to be in the serverList(you defined
in the httpd.conf). You are not using clusters in the backend hence the server
    list will not be updated
dynamically. The plugin will not know the changes in the backend without modifying
    the httpd.conf and restarted.
The first is really important, the second just nice-to-have (I can setup
    load-balancer
    with sticky sessions if needed).
The Apache plug-in documentation seems to suggest that we must use Weblogic
    clustering
for us to be able to specify multiple Weblogic servers in the plug-in
    config file,
    but is that really required?
It's a recommended configuration, but not mandatory.
Second, does the session cookie uniquely identify the Weblogic server
    or does
the Apache plug-in keep the mapping between the cookie and the server? The server info is in the cookie for the same client although
the plugin also maintains a list of servers.
    Also, does
this answer depend on whether we use Weblogic clustering or not?
    No.
The answer depends on the protocol between the Apache plug-in and the
    Weblogic
server. Is it documented? Available under NDA?
Your help will be really appreciated!!
We only support http and https(60sp1 or later).

    Hi Ramon,
The installer for HRC is the same for all Windows OS. This is downloadable from Tools >> Plugins from the CCX Administration Page.
The support for Windows OS is mentioned in the Compatibility matrix for the CCX in the link below:
    http://tools.cisco.com/squish/f7BAe
What is your exact version of CCX? Here's the list of Windows OS supported for HR Client with CCX version 8.5 (base) to be run on:
    Win XP Professional
    Win XP Professional SP2
(Please check Tech Tips & Release Notes)
    Win XP Professional SP3
(Please check Tech Tips & Release Notes)
    Win Vista (Ultimate and Business)
    Windows 7 (Ultimate)
    Windows 7 x64bit with WoW64(Enterprise)
Keep in mind, Windows 7 Professional is not listed above. You've to be running the plugin you download on one of the above and it should work fine.

    Hi all,
I had some progress... i disabled the firewall (SELinux) on the Apache server. Before, i had just disabled the firewall from the Weblogic Server. Now, when i access the apache server, it redirects (sometimes, actually) the request to my Weblogic Cluster. Let's say that 50% of the time it works and the other 50% i get the error informed previously.
I am using the apache user and the ulimit of this user is:

  • Multiple Apache-Weblogic plug-in configurations for the same host

              Hi BEA,
I have a situation where I have more than one weblogic server/cluster both using
the same Apache to proxy. Reading the Apache plug-in configuration I gather that
below should work. In Apache (httpd.conf):
              <Location /path1>
              SetHandler weblogic-handler
              WeblogicHost app1
              WeblogicPort 7001
              </Location>
              <Location /path2>
              SetHandler weblogic-handler
              WeblogicHost app2
              WeblogicPort 7001
              </Location>
In this case the later Location of the two works fine and the other seems like
it is just not there. (If the two are switched the other works fine...) The thing
is that, if possible, I would like to avoid splitting the two locations onto two
              different VirtualHosts (which works).
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this and still avoid the use of multiple
              VirtualHost-definitions?
Is it due to a limitation in Apache module architecture that the configuration
above does not work or is it a design choice in the plug-in?

  • Compile Apache plug-in for WL7.1 SP4

    Hi all,
Several advisories of Apache have been published. We would like to acquire the latest Apache version. According to the information of BEA. Apache plug-in of WL71SP4 is only provided for Apache 2.0.42-2.0.49. As a result, a new plug-in is needed: we would like to compile one.
We only have compiled Apache plug-in (with WL71SP4). We cannot find the source in WL71SP4.
Does anyone know how can I compile a Apache plug-in for the latest Apache version? Preferably, we would like to use APXS for the compilation.
Does anyone know if we can use the existing plug-in in latest Apache version? We have encountered problems before -- the plug-in refuses to start and complains about incorrect magic string of the Apache version.
    Thank you very much.
    Regards.

I'm using the mod_wl_ssl.so for Apache on Linux from service pack 5. I
understand that the communication from Apache to WLS will be via http...
              that's not the issue.
I think what would solve the issue would be if someone from BEA could post
an httpd.conf file that was configured correctly to use the ssl proxy for
Apach on Linux. Also, I can't seem to get clarification if openssl is or is
              not supported.
Can you post a correctly configured httpd.conf file that was used in testing
the ssl proxy as well as confirm whether or not openssl is supported???

  • Netscape or Apache plugin for WebLogic

    Hi,
The Netscape plugin for WebLogic is mentioned many time in on-line
documents for WebLogic servers. However, I can't find any information
with regard to how the plug-in is distributed, licensed. Could someone
please tell me if it is bundled in the server download? How do I install
this thing? Is there Apache plugin for Solaris platform?
    Thank you,

    Hi, Michael,
Thanks for help. I found the documentation and installed the
libproxy.so. However, the server reported internal error when I tried to
use it. Do you have any idea what I did wrong?
The following were added to obj.conf :
    Init fn="load-modules" funcs="wl-proxy,wl-init" \

    Hi, Micheal,
Thank you very much. I found them. They are all *.dll files. I seems to
have the impression that BEA support both NT and solaris. Keep looking
I also found a file called libproxy.so in the weblogic/lib/solaris
directory. Is this the one I need? If so, what do I need to do to
    install?
    Thanks,

  • Error in configuring apache plug in with weblogic 8.1.5

I tried to configure Apache 2.2 plugin with weblogic 8.1 SP 5 in Linux ES 4.0 . I am getting the following error while loading weblogic_module in httpd.conf file in Apache server (restarting apache server after putting entries in httpd.conf).. The error is httpd: Syntax error on line 414 of /usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf: API module structure `weblogic_module' in file /usr/local/apache2/modules/mod_wl_20.so is garbled - perhaps this is not an Apache module DSO?
Did anyone got this error before?

The solution is for BEA to provide the plug-in. Probably a few minutes of a work for BEA developer. Weblogic 9.0 has it.
