Regarding black boxes in place of data

Hi,
I am working on invoice and suddenly the main window is printing in black color instead of data. In print preview it is fine.
When i use the LOCL in the print parameters it is printing fine. but when i assign a printer name then it is printing black.
Any solutions to this ?  Thanks for the reply...
Met vriendelijke groet,
Naren.

Thanks for the reply Prasanthi and Sravani.
I got a OSS note which says all about this issue. If you want you can check this.
In a form, a box with a gray background should be printed. In print
preview,the background is gray, as required, however, when you print the
form, it appears in black.
Prerequisite:
o You are printing on a black and white printer
o You have set a shading for the print options of a node (for
example, a window).
Cause:
Since Basis Release 6.10, colors can be used for frames and shading. You
have chose a gray tone under "Shading" for the color; "saturation" is
specified as 100%.
A black and white printer cannot print a gray tone.
Solution
A gray tone can be simulated on black and white printers by "dithering". To
do this, use black as the color and a saturation < 100% (10%, for example,
creates a bright gray).

  • Black boxes appear instead of figures

    Hello,
    I am having a problem reading downloaded pdfs in Acrobat X Pro (on a PC): in many figures (or in random places on the page), black boxes will appear instead of graphs/tables/figures (or one column or another). If I open the pdf in my browser I don't have a problem.
    I think it may be connected to a related problem in which highlighted text was appearing as completely blacked out--that I managed to fix by changing the transparency of my highlight. Perhaps it's something to do with my color management?
    I have installed updates and repaired my installation of Acrobat.

    Hi ajanela,
    Are the black boxes only where you'd expect to see images? If so, please choose Edit  > Preferences, and click the Page Display category. Then, look in the Page Content and Information section, and make sure that Show Large Images is selected. If this preference is deselected, then Acrobat will show only black boxes in place of images.
    Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • When importing photos from my iPhone black boxes appear in place of random photos in the library and in Photostream.

    When importing photos from my iPhone black boxes appear in place of random photos in the iPhoto library and in Photostream. It has no apparent pattern, the photos are just blank. It's not just icons, when I go to edit the photos externally in Photoshop it opens an image filled with nothing but black.
    This is more than annoying. It's effectively deleting photos I'm taking on vacation and so forth.
    Anyone?

    The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
    This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Black box with exclamation point instead of photo

    I recently switched from a PC to Mac and used a transfer cable to move my photos into iPhoto. Small thumbnails look fine, but when I open some of them all I get is a black box with an exclamation point inside a white circle. This seems to apply only to SOME of the pics that were originally SCANNED into my PC as jpeg files. Although I suspected this was how photos imported, I did try the Rebuild feather, but that didn't work. Is still have my originals on my old PC, but I'd like to get rid of it. Is there still a way I can access what's on my Mac -- or successfully import from my PC?
    Thanks in advance for the assistance!

  • This black box is making noise--what is it? (pictures)

    I know there have been several threads regarding the white noise given off by Motherboards under heavy load.  I also have a K7N2G-ILSR and it has made the noise since day one.  Like others, I have tracked the noise to the little black box just above the mosfets near the CPU.
    When I press on it, the pitch of the noise varies.  Ideally, I would like to strip the tape from around the box and hot-glue the entire thing, but I want to make sure it won't hose everything. I don't care about the warranty, but if I can't make the sound stop, I'm liable to kill someone.
    I would like to know what the black box does and if anyone has any luck silencing the sound!
    Thanks!

    In this case it stores energy and timely releases it, In MSI's words, this is normal, as the environment is high frequency.
    To elaborate further on what I said before, what's likely happening is some of the components or that choke may be at the bottom or top of the allowable tolerance for manufacture. All electronics are not EXACTLY the same as far as components go. This is what's referred to as "parametric differences." You have the PCB, (printed circuitboard) CPU, RAM, peripherals, power supply, and, add to that, all the components that populate a PCB. A PCB is used on your VGA card, RAM, power supply, and ALL of your peripherals. All of these parts are manufactured with allowable tolerances, same goes for the PCB. Get the idea? See how this becomes an environment where things can easily get out of hand? Couple that with the fact of how many possible configurations can take place, and also that many of the componets and parts are manufactured by many different vendors.
    Take a circuit board for example, you have multiple layers, dielectric in between those layers, the foil or copper layers in the internals are a set weight or thickness but the outer layers are usually plated up and/or etched down (this can include the internals). The etch process is done with acid, and you get a minute bit of what's called "etch down" where if you were to look at a cross section of a routed trace, you would notice that there is a slight "V" shape since the acid will etch around the sides. The board vendor must compensate for the etch down by enlarging the original artwork. However, it will NEVER be exact every time. The general specs for most of the boards we produce are +/- 20% of the original artwork supplied in the design data. That is, if you have an .008 thousandths trace, we can be within .0016 of the original.
    Granted some tolerances are tighter when manufacturing high speed and impedance controlled designs, but you get the idea.
    Now, you have basically the same scenario when it comes to components as mentioned previously. That is why you see users reporting strange behavior, mind you, it's a small percentage, but it is generally exacerbated when multiple parts, components, and peripherals operate in a high speed, high frequency environment like today's performance PC's. It only takes a few things to be at the top or the bottom of a tolerance to create this anomaly, or another issue altogether.
    This is what I know personally through my experience as a PCB designer and manufacturer, and then being in the electronics and IT industry, and of course, an enthusiast

  • Flickering black boxes on CS6 with Macbook Pro Intel Iris

    I'm experiencing a flickering black box whenever using large brush sizes on Photoshop CS6 using a Macbook Pro (16GB RAM, 2.8 GHz i7, Intel Iris, Late 2013 13") similar to what is shown on: black flickering boxes on Vimeo.  The issue stops if you: Preferences -> Performance -> Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor."  I've contacted Apple Care multiple times and they say it is an Adobe issue.  I've attempted uninstalling/reinstalling CS6, resetting NVRAM and SMC, and verified CS6 and System settings are all up-to-date.  When booting in Safe Mode the issue is also resolved (as it appears Graphics Processor is disabled).  There appears to have been a similar issue on the 2013 Macbook Air that Apple released a fix for (MacBook Air (Mid 2013) Software Update 1.0) but I do not see anything regarding the Macbook Pro line.  Anyone experience/resolve this issue?

    Professional engineers would look at the report, even if it happens in a single application, because usually that one application is just more commonly used and exposes an existing problem that is only occasionally seen in other applications.  (hint: the OS and video card drivers draw the cursor, not the application, so the driver and OS are responsible for drawing glitches with the cursor)
    And for us to write up a bug for Apple, we need a reproducible case - but we can't reproduce it on our systems. Apple needs information about your system to see what specific GPU/CPU configuration is affected by this driver bug (and they have all the hardware variants to try it on).
    And we have been testing for similar issues since the MacBookAir cursor bugs appeared - but haven't seen any after Apple's patch, despite testing on all the systems we have available (which is quite a few, but we can't have every single possible Macintosh configuration).

  • Black Boxes in Mac OS X.8.2 and Adobe Reader 11.0

    I have a similar problem that Larry Joy asked about on this forum.  Per my usual practice, I updated my Adobe Reader to 11.0 when it was noted by my softeware update app.  Since then, I find that .pdf documents dating prior to the update have black boxes over all text, tables, images-essentially all content except the file name, date and title.  Many are saved emails that I save via the <Command P> then <Save as PDF> procedure.  My printer is a Canon MX879 aio, with a current driver.  My iMac info is a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, using Mountain Lion OS 10.8.2.
    Most of these blacked-out documents were created using Adobe Reader 9.5 and Lion and Snow Tiger OS versions.
    Can these documents be reconstructed?  Much of them are critical and irreplaceable (though backed up) if even the backed up copies cannot be read.
    How should I proceed?
    Peter

    Hi,
    I tried to replicate this issue inhouse but it's working fine at my end. Can you please share the sample pdf and orginal file so that I can give it a try with that. I am using exactly same environment as yours.

  • Class is a BLACK BOX ? Please explain

    Hi,
    I have a query regarding the a class being compared to a Black Box.
    'A Java class is compared to a BLACK BOX,and the users of this class
    use it via its methods that act as its public interfaces
    and they need not understand the class complexities'.
    Now,put this aside for the moment.
    I just wrote an Oracle function called sExtract(param p1,param2).
    The user just calls this function, and is returned back a value.
    Now, the user doesnt need to know the complexities I had to undergo
    to code this procedure.
    How is this function different from a class then ?
    Both have functionality not exposed to the user.
    I can write an Oracle package,consisting of multiple functions,
    and invoke each function as and when required.
    Package.function1()
    The same goes for a Java class too.
    className.method1()
    Please explain the difference to me..

    In both cases, "black box" is really saying that clients of your Java class or Oracle package should be able to use it without having to look at the source code. It's part of programming by contract: you tell users what they have to supply, you tell them what your method will do, what it'll return, and what exceptions if any will be raised. That and enough documentation (e.g., javadocs) to find the method should be all they need.
    The idea is no different between objects and packages. Oracle packages, if I understand them correctly, are a pseudo-object-oriented way to group stored procedures together, almost as if a package mapped to an "object". There's no inheritance or polymorphism, but stored procedures as functions and tables as data grouped together in packages has a feel of encapsulation and abstract data types to me.

  • BizTalk 2013 - Receiving XML file suspended due to Hexadecimal 0X01 (en dash/tiny black box) issue

    Hello,
    Our BizTalk process consist of 2 schemas, a map to transform schema1 to schema2, and an orchestration.  When the BizTalk process "Receive Port" receives an xml file (with policy data information), BizTalk will suspend the xml file
    and it will never get pass the Receive Port to be transformed because some of the policy data will include an "en dash" a hexadecimal 0X01 (looks like a tiny black box when opened in TextPad), how can we configure the receive port
    and or schema1 in BizTalk to ignore/or replace/remove the "en dash" a hexadecimal 0X01 (looks like a tiny black box)?
    Thank you for your help in advance!
    Thank you for your help! M_Blanc

    Yes, BizTalk has a solution for that. If you know the encoding and BOM then in the XML Receive/FFDASM or in a custom component you can specify the encoding for BizTalk to process the message.
    Refer https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa559602.aspx to understand how the character encoding works in the pipeline and
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa577393.aspx on how the XML Dissembler component can be configured in your own custom pipeline to address issues pertaining to charset encoding and
    BOM.

  • HP laser jet printing has black boxes witers

    I just bought a new HP Laser Jet Pro  MFP M127fn printer.  I have an old version of PrintMaster that I have used for years to print my business cards.  When I try to use this program with the new printer, the words are all in white surrounded by a black box.  A sort of negative print effect.  If I can't solve this problem I'll have to return the printer since I use this software quite often.  I'm hoping for a simple fix.
    Thanks,
    Norm

    >> ... have to return the printer since I use this software quite often ...
    But you might find that you have exactly the same problem with any replacement printer!
    I'm not familiar with PrintMaster, so I don't know how integrated it is with modern (Windows?) printer drivers, or (especially with "an old version") if it doesn't use such drivers at all, but generates the print job directly.
    If it does use modern drivers (i.e. a standard Print dialogue is exposed), then if you capture a sample (sanitised data) job (select the 'print to file' option in the Print dialogue), then analysis of the resultant .prn file might (but may not) yield some clues as to what is going on.
    If the print job Page Description Language is PCL rather than PostScript, you can do the analysis using the PRN File Analyse tool in the PCL Paraphernalia application, available via http://www.pclparaphernalia.eu

  • Why a black box (or fuzzy "i") when opening an image?

    In one particular folder in "Events", when I click on an image to open, it opens to a black box or at best a fuzzy "i" - were the image should be, what has happened? All other options appear as normal but if I click "edit"for example - my options become unavailable and still have the black box were the image should be.
    All other folders in Events are fine and no such problem occurs. In checking "preferences" nothing has changed as the problem folder preferences are the same as the others - likewise not aware I've changed anything either. I've gone into 'help" but just cannot find anything there unless I'm looking into the wrong place?
    Currently I'm on OS "X" 10.6.8 using iPhoto 09  - 8.1.2 (424) which hopefully will assist too?

    In your first post:
    In one particular folder in "Events", when I click on an image to open, it opens to a black box or at best a fuzzy "i"
    In your most recent post
    Currently no ! appears now, just a black box.
    These are different issues with potentially different resolutions. Assuming that there is no exclamation mark warning, but just a black screen:
    There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
    Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
    Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    but this is just one folder with 211 images - all other folders are fine and working as expected. Reading what you have written, you are referring to the whole library which seems to be extreme?
    This is not just one folder or just 211 images. What you are seeing are symptoms of an issue in the Database file. If this file is damaged then your Library is damaged and this is what needs to be fixed. That's why deleting and re-importing won't help. You'll be re-importing to a database that is known to be damaged and unstable.

  • When i download adobe flash player a black box pops up and it doesn't work.

    I have downloaded adobe flash player multiple times. I have a windows 7 hp laptop when it gets to the end of the download i click run and a black box appears and the flash player doesn't work. what should i do?

    Hi albinaaa,
    Thank you for confirming the drivers are up to date.  I apologize for the confusion in terminology.  We refer to the installer downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer as the online installer because it is simply an installer shim, less than 2MB that then downloads and installs Flash Player silently.  This requires users to be 'online' for the installation process to work.  What we refer to as the offline installers are the full installers (roughly 15 - 18 MB) that you download and then install Flash Player, which does not require an internet connection as nothing is downloaded silently in the background during installation.
    As I mentioned before, we have received these reports of the online installer displaying without text, however, we have not been able to reproduce, and therefore, the reason I asked you to try the offline installer, since we have not received these reports with the offline installer.

  • Problem with .png images being black boxes in InDesign

    Hello,
    I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with a problem I'm having with some .png files.  When I try to place certain .png files in my InDesign document, they come in as just black boxes.  The .png files are created by a third party application, (EditLive w/MathFlow)  But if I view the .png files in Fireworks or other image viewers, they appear to be fine.  I have tried looking at the image properties inside InDesign, to see if by tweaking them it might work, but I am not a graphic designer by trade so my knowledge is rather limited.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Specs:
    Windows XP
    CS4 Suite including:
         Adobe InDesign CS4
         Fireworks CS4
    Thanks,
    Josh

    That worked!  Mostly.  The little preview box on the file upload dialog still shows a black box.  But when the image is placed inside the doc it looks perfect.  Well, as perfect as the .png can look.
    Is there any way within InDesign to "ignore" the alpha channel or whatever of the graphic?  I have access to the IDML as well as the normal application interface & the SDK through the InDesign Server.  I'd prefer not to be reliant on opening the image in another tool, as we have a large number of images to process some times & it could get annoying.  If not, I can try contacting the 3rd party group that is generating the .png & see if they can better handle the alpha channel when they're creating the image maybe...
    And thanks for the quick responses!
    -Josh

  • Question about plugging in an ajax progress bar component onto a black-box.

    Hello,
    I have the following problem: I want to integrate an ajax progress bar component to a j2ee application and I am in reference to the following pattern (https://bpcatalog.dev.java.net/nonav/ajax/progress-bar/design.html). It seems I need for the "task" component to return the percent. The problem I have is that I am calling a legacy method (i.e. as400) that does not return a percent as it is to me only a black-box. Here is a snippet of what it looks like to me:
          AS400 sys = new AS400("AS400D.calyonfinancial.com");
           sys.setUserId("jmartin");
           sys.setPassword("jmartin");
           CommandCall cmd = new CommandCall(sys);
           cmd.run("my as400 command goes here");
           AS400Message[] messageList = cmd.getMessageList();
           for (AS400Message msg : messageList) {
               System.out.println(msg.getText());
           sys.disconnectService(AS400.COMMAND);At best I can know whether or not it is completed.
    void actionCompleted(ActionCompletedEvent event) //Invoked when an action has completed.What do you advise I do bearing in mind I want to avoid using an indeterminate progress bar??
    Thanks in advance,
    Julien Martin.

    That's not a legacy method. The latest version of JTOpen was issued less than a month ago. And note that it's open-source, so you could change it yourself to provide percent-complete data. (Of course you'd have to be able to get that data from the underlying iSeries command.)
    It wouldn't be easy, but if you think about it for a minute you'll realize that you can't display percentage complete in a progress bar unless you have some way of finding out what percentage the task has actually completed.
