Regarding CAF Tutorial

Hi,
Is there any link available in sdn where i can get sample applications on Composite application services (CAS), mainly on the core part so that i can get some hands on practice on the programming part of CAF .
For webdynpro for java we can get lots of sample applications .
I tried searching in sdn .There are lots of PDF documents on GP and visual composer but very few are on CAS . Sample applications are not available at all .

Townsend Cafe Tutorial - in CS3? Where?

I have Fireworks 8 running at home and have used the fine
tutorial of the "Townsend Cafe" to practice setting up site
graphics;
I wanted to use this with some students, but the school lab
has CS3 (soon to be CS4). I see the Townsed Cafe files there, but
when I go to Help, I don't find the totorial which uses those
files. Am I missing something?
I thought of copying my FW8 files, but couldn't find the FW
Help. DW has its Help files right in the directory. Where are they
for FW? How can I use this with my students? Anyone know?

In Katie's Cafe tutorial, how did she create her color sample?

In the Adobe Muse tutorial for Katie's Cafe. How was the color sample created. She just had us drag it onto our Muse document, but how was the color palette created initially so that it can be used in your Muse document?

I think I figured out the solution to the problem people are having. It has to do with the order that you do things when you try to bring in colors from somewhere else. If you try to just take colors from somewhere else (ie copy and past them) muse will not recognize them as swatches and even if you take the colors and put them in rectangles in muse and save them to a library muse will still not recognize them as swatches. What you have to do to create a color set like she did in the tutorial is as follows....
Copy/Paste your colors into muse
Make rectangle objects in muse that contain the colors
Open up the swatches window and click add swatch
Select one of the colors you added - click ok
Repeat this process for all the color rectangles you have made
Now you can use the selection tool to select all the colors you made and create a library with them that will work.
The issue people seem to be having (and that I myself had) is that when you just copy/paste colors into muse it does not automatically make a swatch for the new color. When she uses the swatch library in the demo it does add the swatches automatically. This happens because she went through the process of creating the swatches in muse first (which you are never shown) and not just copy/pasting the colors from some other program.

CAF Tutorial - My First Process

Hi All,
I'm getting this strange error, I am following the My First Process tutorial, I can create a Content Package Object, when I try to upload the StartPage.htm, I follow the steps, hit "add" then the screen just goes back to the upload file page (no "done" button appears) and it acts as if I haven't uploaded a file yet..
Am I missing some roles or something to allow me to upload a file? In the details section of this content object i did make sure to give myself full control over this object, not sure if that helps.

Did you update the SMTP host by logging into the Visual Admin (Server-> services-> caf/eu/gp/model).
Also, for the id with which you logged in, make sure you give first name, last name and email.

Query regarding the tutorial for Oracle Service Bus (OSB 10gR3)

I am working on a tutorial of Oracle Service Bus (OSB 10gR3).
I have created the proxy service and the Business Service, using Oracle Service Bus console.
The details are as follows:
Proxy service: LoanGateway
Business service1: A value of 4.9 or less causes the message to be routed to the ManagerLoanReview business service.
Business service2: A value of 5.0 or greater causes the message to be routed to the NormalLoan business service.
When i send the request message, so that it gets routed from proxy service to one of the business service than it gives following error.

I have the same problem and I'm not able to telnet localhost on port 7021. How can I change this port number I think that port must be 7001, it is correct?Examples server domain is pre-configured for port 7021. The samples domain will have the examples properly deployed in this domain out of box. You dont need to change any thing in {BEA_HOME}\osb_10.3\samples\domains\servicebus\config.
I doubt this has to do something with firewall . Check the last statement in the log after starting the domain.

Problems with CAF tutorial 85 Using RFCs as External Services

Has anybody managed to follow this to the end successfully? I have managed to get to the last step. When I try to test in the Service Browser with a valid userId I get the following error:
"ERROR. Mandatory attribute userId value is missing".
I have definitely got a valid userId; it seems as if it is not being mapped to the input of the BAPI.
Any suggestions how to proceed?

Actually there is a little more detail here: if I pass in a definitely invalid userId eg 'Fred', I get the error message:
"ERROR: User FRED does not exist".
Which is the message in the RETURN table of the BAPI.
This means that the BAPI must have received the input parameter.
However, when I pass in my own userId (which I tested in the BAPI already from the SAP GUI), it gives me the error mentioned in the first post:
"ERROR. Mandatory attribute userId value is missing".
So this implies to me that the error message is a bit of a red herring, since the first case clearly demonstrated that the userId was being passed into the BAPI.
Any suggestions for follow up?

How to create the composite application in CAF

I'm still confused what really is CAF.
I know that is an Framework, but which language: JAVA or ABAP is used for development in CAF.
I have a task (yeah... superior :]) to discover that is possible and how to integrate WebService written in ABAP with CAF.
So I've some question, and answers for them helps me to understand better CAF philosophy.
1) Is any programming language used in CAF to develop application? Which?
2) Is CAF (using CAS) only managing middleware between application layers?
3) How to integrate business logic written in ABAP with CAF and how to enable it to another application?
Any helpful answers I reward in points

I hope i can answer your question sufficiently.
to 1) The CAF CORE(means the service layer) is based on Java. So the development language for application services is Java. The two other services (entity and external) are based on java, but the developer is not allowed to change the coding directly.
to 2) I am not sure what you mean by CAS. But in my understanding the CAF CORE ist more than a middleware. It is a kind of tool to implement the ESA paradigm.
to 3) the CAF CORE can import services based on RFCs or Web Service. That's the way to implement business logic written in ABAP.
And additional information regarding your task: The Web Service hides the real implementation of a component, so you can integrade web service in integrate regardless the implementation language.
I hope this helps and the CAF tutorial page might be helpful to get any further information.

For clarity you can design the form to be divided into different sections like personal details, educational qualifications, etc. Now whether you'll physically separate the data in the form at the approval levels depends on whether the same person(approver) should check all the details or need to see all the details. If all the approvers need to see all the details the student fill up in form then keep it as a single form data at the approval steps as well. Otherwise uing parameter mapping you can separate the data into multiple forms and then assign those to different actions(approval steps). If you know the number of approvers at design time and if the approval steps are fixed then you can use sequential blocks and under that assign the approval actions. Otherwise if the number of approval steps are not fixed or you don't know it at design time then you can use per-conditional loop block/post-conditional loop block (if the approval steps are sequential) or parallel block/parallel dynamic block if the approval steps are simultaneous.
You can get lots of documentation and tutorials on each one of these in the CAF Tutorial Center @ SDN.

Muse tutorial problems; ridged leaf placeholder graphic nonexistent, YouTube video embed problems

I've just started using Muse and it looks pretty great so far. I've been doing the Katie's Cafe tutorial and everything's worked out. However, when I got to "Adding a lightbox feature that displays video hosted on a third-party server" I ran into some trouble. Specifically, the tutorial speaks several times about a "ridged leaf placeholder graphic." Something I just don't see. Beyond that, I'm finding that what it says the Selection Indicator should say, and what it actually says are slightly off. And, finally, I've been unable to paste the YouTube embee code into the right spot, no matter what I do. It really seems like there's some sort of difference bwteen the muse used for this tutorial and the Muse I'm using.

Sorry for the confusion. There appears to be an error in the tutorial. I'll follow-up with the proper people to get the tutorial fixed. The new version of the lightbox composition does not contain those placeholder images.

Usage of CAF in real World scenario

iam trying to understand Netweaver CAF(core & GP) from a technical perspective. all the marketing information that SAP provides does not give me enough information to understand how it can solve real world problems. i would appreciate it if anyone of you can explain me in detail how Netweaver CAF can solve the problem and what would have been your solution if Netweaver CAF was not in place.

1. All you need to have as prerequisite knowledge is pure Java. Some EJB background may help a bit additionally.
2. What do you mean under software requirements? You need to install Netweaver 04s Java stack over an RDBMS, usually MySQL or MSSQL.

The Method I want use is a "Search by Key" method, which I already testet in Composite Application and it has worked.
But wenn I try to add the CAF Model in Web Dynpro and Apply the template in Component Controller, there was no input value there to be selected but only the return values. How can I make the method work?
