Regarding component usage in nwds7.1

Hi
I want to use methods and views of one webdynpro DC in another while working in nwds7.1 . In earlier version i.e. 7.0, to use a method of DC1 we would create a wrapper method in the interface controller of DC1 and call it in DC2. Can somebody explain the procedure or methodology to be used in 7.1 as here there is no implementation file i.e. java editor for interface controller.'
I also referred to the following document but unable to get the desired result.

I figured out the solution. There should be similar method signatures in the interface controller and the component controller. After defining the appropriate usage, when the method is called from the interface contoller, the method is invoked in the component controller.

Need some help regarding the component usage

Dear ALL,
I have one scenario something like this .
I have a main component say ZComp1 and in it i have created one view in which we two drop downs and i have 28 view containers depending upon the drop down values these view containers will be visible here all the view container i am using for displaying by means of component usage (i.e 28 compoenents i am calling into my main ). So now when i run my main application it is taking minimu of 2 mins to display the screen . To test whats the problem i have written some code in the handle default of main window and set the break point what i observed is quite surprising that when i run the apllication it takes hardly 2 mins of time to reach my handledefault method (which is the first one to trigger when i run the apllicatin) . Please suggest me what can be doen to overcome this issue. or suggest some alternative to improve performance.
Note : When there is less amount of data in the screen then it takes less time to execute or else it takes hell lot of time plz suggest :(.

Hi Misbah,
28 VCO are too much in a view.
So, try to revamp teh design and reduce the VCO's in a view.
Another thing would be, Every WDDOINIT, and WDDOMODIFY view of the used components would be called when you try to load the component at first.
In your case that is happening, and please check and confirm it.
A proper modular design would be a better approach in handling the situation.

No component usage created in enhanced web dynpro component

Hi experts,
I am facing the following problem:
I'd like to enhance a web dynpro component in order to add a popup window. The popup is triggered by the process_event method. So far everything works just fine.
But the popup needs to know some context attributes from the main component, and I cannot create a component usage in order to set the context mapping.
Does anybody know how to solve this issue?

Thanks for your answers first of all.
I need the popup to be a stand alone web dynpro component, so I guess the assistant class doesn't do the trick because I can not access it in the popup component.
The popup is called when the business object is saved. So that the user is asked to notify other users that the document has changed. In this popup the user should fill in the message and click a button to send it and close the popup.
So I tried the OBN approach as well but with two problems :
1. I cannot close the popup component by coding (button click) because it has no direct parent component
2. The save event is not run through properly so the document stays locked by the user. But I didn't look into this yet.
So it would be perfect to have an embedded popup component which is based on a stand alone web dynpro application so it can be closed properly but it need at least access to the guid of the main component.
Anybody got an idea for this?

How to close a pop up window of used component ( usage defined )

Actually it is pretty simple. From the embedded view you can use the APIs to get access to the hosting window object.
data l_api_v_new_attachment type ref to if_wd_view_controller.

How to get active component of other components component usage

Hi all,
let me try to describe you the issue.
I've got three components interacting with another. Lets call them CA, C1 and C2.
CA uses both C1 and C2, so CA has component usages CUA1 and CUA2. But C1 also uses C2 with component usage CU12.
C1 calls an interface method of component usage CU12 (of component C2).
But although I've got an active component on CA-level for CUA1 (lets call this active component ACT1), C1 does not call the interface method of ACT1. (Even events are not triggered.)
How can I assign the active component of CUA1 to C1 at runtime and how do I call its interface method from C1?
Can I search for active components within C1 by name (I've got several active components, how do I differentiate them)?

CA has several list components C2.1, C2.2 etc.
C2.1 lists all arrival/departure flights from NY. It also offers a minor search functionality for flight regarding NY.
C2.2 lists all arrival/departure flights from LA. It also offers a minor search functionality for flight regarding LA. etc...
I want to use C1 as a global search which uses the minor searches of C2.1, C2.2 etc. The outcome of the minor searches shall be displayed in C1, but also in C2.1, C2.2 etc. when I switch to the C2.1, C2.2 etc.
Example usage 1:
1. At CA I go to C2.1 and search for all flights to NY from London.
2. Then I switch to C2.2 and search for all flights from LA to Berlin.
3. When I switch back to C2.1 the former results remain there, I can still see all flights to NY from London.
Example usage 2:
1. At CA I go to C1 and make a global search for all departures to London.
2. If I now switch to C2.2 I want to see all flights from LA to London, without a search here.
3. If I now switch to C2.1 I want to see all flights from NY to London, without a search here.

External component usage with interface node

Hi everyone,
I have component A , which has an interface node with Input element checked:

I have another component: Component B Where I want to bind a table to this interface node.
In component B :
1. I definied the Componenet Usage of component B in the componenet controller.
2. I drag & drop the IF_HROBJID node to the component controller's context (the node is mapped)
But when I try to bind a table, I always get the " The Mapping to Node COMPONENTCONTROLLER.1.IF_HROBJID Has Not Been Completed. " error.
nd_if_hrobjid = wd_context->path_get_node( path = 'IF_HROBJID' ).
nd_if_hrobjid->bind_table( lt_if_hrobjid ).
Can someone tell me what is the problem, and how can I solve it?

Here you are trying to use component A in component B right?
Then what you need to do is:
1. Declare the component usage of A say A_USAGE in properties tab of component B.
2. Create a node say 'DATA' in component controller of component B. The node 'DATA' would have the same structure as the node in your component A.
3. Fill the node 'DATA' in component controller's method.
4. Under your webdynpro component B, you will see Component Usages -> A_USAGE. open interface controller inside that.
    Goto context tab and drag the 'DATA' node from component controller of B on to the node in interface controller.

Avoid rendering of (view,component Usage embedded on TAB) on Timed Trigger

Hi,
I have a WD application build based on header ( icons; normal label; input elements ) , a timed trigger and a tab strip which has 3 tabs. The 3 tabs have View container element for whcih i am attaching 3 views of the same component . TAB A part which i am viewing holds a image. The Timed Trigger is needed to enable icon on the header. This is happening well after my delay time of 60 SECS. But this one is having impact of regenerating the image again ( due to the rendering ) which is not at all required. I want to have the rendering only for the above header part only. But as i heard from Thomas post that after the phase cycle is done. rendering loads all the views, component usages embedded for the VIEW.
conditonally i am doing the action of CANCEL NAVIGATION in WDDOBEFORENAVIGATION when Timed Trigger fires.Due to this one i could avoid the MODIFYVIEW calls of the respective views embedded; but i could not avoid the rendering of the IMAGE ( TAB A ).
Is there any way to avoid the rendering on those tabs part ( 3 views embedded ). I could see that DELTA rendering is enabled for my sap version but it would be not much help.

Hi Alex.
I already tried this. But a bit different. One of my component should have different entry views. So I defined multiple interface inbound plugs in the window of the subcomponent. In the corresponding (inbound) handler methods of the window I fired corresponding outbound plugs which were connected to different views. The main component had different links which were connected to the corresponding interface inbound plugs of the embedded component.
When I clicked the first link, the correct view of the subcomponent was shown. When I then clicked the next link which should show another view of the same subcomponent the corresponding inbound handler was called but no navigation was done.
Now when I rest the component before navigating everything works fine.

How to switch between different instances of component usage?

Need your help.
My application is about "Program Management", there is a table on the upper level which displays several program header data. in the lower level of the screen, I have a view container in which I embed another component to display program details.For instance,if you make a lead selection on one row of the table above, then the lower part will display the program detail.
Here is the problem: e.g. first, I make a selection on program '001', then I'll create a component usage of the program detail and I put it into a component uage group, second, I make a selection on program '002', then the same like above, I create another component usage and put it into a component usage group. Now I have two instances of program detail component usage, when I select program '001' again, how can I switch back to program '001' detail.
So, I'm trying to achieve multiple instances of program detail so that user don't need to wait for loading program details everytime.

As you are using two separate components, they would be having two separate views to display the required information.
In the onleadselect of your main view ( where you are using the individual views of the other components via the viewcontainerUI ), you have to embed the following code:

Component Usage in Select Options

Hi
I need to bring Profit Center Hierarchy in Select Options of Webdynpro for Profit Center field.
For this have created component Usage with hierarchy which works fine in case of input field but I want to make it work on select options field for using the select options functionality.
Pls suggest if there is any way by which we can link component usage on Select Options field.

When i am trying this way, it is giving me the following dump
"Component usage PRCTR_F4 does not exist"
The component PRCTR_F4 is there in the Component use list.
Also only OVS can be used for select option?? b'coz hwen i debugg the application whe using this search help, i can see only OVS as component usage.

Hi Devashish,
If I got you right, you want to understand how system picks up the Component usage. If yes, then the explanation is below.
We have a concept of component interface and component usage. Component interface is just like a window to enter in to house or in other words it is the exposed interface which can be used by other components to access the component views.
Component usage is the place where we define that what all components (component interface) we are going to use.
Now coming back to your question, whenever we navigate to views of other components, system knows the component usage name in which we defined earlier that we are going to use this particular view.
While opening the view we can have different configurations based on the component usage.
Let’s say, it’s like if component usage is "A" display “field1” and “field 2” or else if component usage is "B" display “field 2” and “field 3”.

Calling Component details in Webdynpro Component Usage Pop-up

Hi Experts,
We have a WD component, say ZWD1, which has been re-used(component usage) in many other WD components.
In all the usages the main window of ZWD1 is being called as a pop-up.
Now we have a requirement wherein i need to write certain logic in ZWD1 view method which should be executed only when
ZWD1 is called as a pop-up from 2 particular components out of all the components in which it has been reused.
Is there any way in which we can get the details of the Parent window (or) component from which ZWD1 has been called, in the methods of ZWD1? (Apart from calling an interface method of ZWD1 or setting the value of an interface node of ZWD1, from the parent component)

Hi,
for your requirement you could use Assistance Classes in your Parent component and Used Component.
Use the Same Assistance class in all the components and set an Attribute in Assistance class while in Parent component.
Now in your Used Component , you can access that Attribute of Assistance class and check which Parent component it is calling.
To call the attribute/method use the instance wd_assist.

Illegal component usage

Hello,
I created an SC, DC etc. on a fresh NWDI. Created the track on that SC, mde references and checked in SAP-JEE, SAP_BUILDT, SAP_JTECHS (7.00 SP7) (SDA I ttok from my Netweaver Server, had none on NWDI). And I created a new WebDynpro Project on that track with NWDS 7.00 SP 6 (may that be the cause of Problem?).
The Problem is I get on my still empty project after syncing all SC Archives:
Check for used DCs failed: Illegal component usage: compartment "MY_COMPONENT" does not use compartment "sap.com_SAP_BUILDT_1" of used DC "sap.com/tc/bi/bp/webDynpro"; using DC: myDC(MYComponent)
Any clue what that shall tell me????
I think in generell that procedure is much to complicated with going first to SLD for SC and Product, then to CMS to create a track, give references to SCs, you just have to know which you need. Then you have to check these SCs in and so on (I never understood that step at ALL why that is needed...). To much steps to make errors...

Multiple component instances for one component usage

Hi,all
How can I create multiple component instances for one component usage.
I'm using the following code for creating a single component instance for specific component usage:

I can't create one more component instance for

cause I have to delete the component instance associated with this component usage.
Any idea how can I do it anyway?

Hi,
To create another instance of the same component you need to embed the same component under the Used Components more then once. For Example if you have Componet A to which you want to embed Component B then under "Used Components" of Component A add component B twice.

Enhancements not visible when included as Component Usage

Hi Experts
I have created an enhancement to the standard web dynpro LSO_BL_ADMN_MANAGECRSPART which adds a new attibute to the interface node CTX_COURSE_CATALOG. I can see this attribute on the interface controller but when I include the component as a component usage in my bespoke component, the attribute is not shown.
Is this a limitation of web dynpro enhancements or am I doing something wrong?

OK thanks to the clues posted here I have a working popup - still got some things to address but hopefully I can work them out.
For anyone hoping to learn from my mistake, here's what I have so far, and this correctly displays what I need but is not yet fully functional:-
