Regarding Database App Development VM

if i install this Database App Development VM in virtual box can i get weblogic server...also

Thanks u for your reply,
Actually i want 2 learn ADF, for that i bought MacBook Pro(4 GB ram, i5 processor), i installed jdev in it. i want to install Oracle XE in it to practice ADF, but there is no official release for that.
so i am going for VM's . in that also , i need configaration like JDev with weblogic server and oracle XE installed in , but there is No combination like that, but there is SOA/BPM but it needs 2 processors with 6 GB ram. i am stucking over here. is there any suggestion for that.
Next thing is if i export HR table from Oracle XE to MySql DB server( bz all examples with Oracle XE only to learn ADF ) , is there any problems in that approach.

  • Database App Development VM (Nov 2011) APEX username and password

Does anyone know the Workspace names, usernames and passwords for Instance Admin(Internal workspace), Developers and Users for the latest Database App Development VM (Nov 2011) available from OTN?
The VM forum is very quiet/unhelpful.
    NOTE it is NOT
    obe/obe/obe
    or
    oracle/oracle
    or
    admin/admin
    thanks in advance
    Paul

OK I followed Roel's suggestion and changed the ADMIN password using the apxchpwd.sql utility. There is no other way as there are no users defined in APEX except the instance administrator ADMIN
MAKE SURE you run V4.1 of apxchpwd.sql as V4.0.1 doesn't work and gives a security error. (Down load APEX 4.1 from OTN then extract apxchpwd.sql from the APEX directory.)
If you now try and connect to APEX and get an error in the browser (firefox) INTERNAL ERROR then shutdown the VM and restart it.
you should then be able to log onto the Instance Administrator as follows:
    WS: Internal
    UN: ADMIN
PW: <what you changed it to in the apxchpwd>
After you log on you will be asked to provide a new ADMIN password with all the naming restrictions enabled. (these can be turned off later, under manage instance...security settings. Under "Service Administrator Password Policy" change the radio button to "Use policy specified in Workspace Password Policy")
After logging into the workspace manager you will see that the OBE workspace has a status of TERMINATION_IN_PROGRESS5 .
If you want to retain this WS then create the OBE user as a workspace administrator and developer in the OBE workspace. If you set OBE/obe as the UN/PW
then you can log out of the Internal Workspace and log back in as the OBE developer and start application development.
Amazing how none of this is documented in the download! If you don't know much about APEX then you are locked out!

  • How to embed PL/SQL queries in HTML in Database App Development VM?

I'm reading "Learning Oracle PL/SQL" and this book tells me that if I can install apache httpd and modplsql I can embed queries in HTML.
How do I do this in Database App Development VM?
Do I already have apache httpd installed? Is it already started?
If not, how do I start it?
What am I getting when I point my firefox browser to http://localhost:1158/em? I'm getting a nice web page that is prompting for username and password. What username and password do I use? oracle/oracle did not work!
What does this web site do? Administer the database server?
I already tried to use "yum install emacs" as I mentioned in Re: How to Install emacs, openssh and start oracle database and get a connect? and it appears that the repository for "yum" is not correct.
"yum install httpd" does not work either.
When I tried "sudo yum install httpd" it says
"Sorry, user oracle is not allowed to execute '/usr/bin/yum install httpd' as root on localhost.localdomain."
I get the same message for "sudo yum isntall emacs".
    Thanks

  • Prebuilt Database App Development VM question- make 64bit vm

Hello all i just recently download/deployed the prebuilt Database App Development VM, currently this VM is 32bit, does anyone know how to make this a 64bit vm?

Development is planning on building a new version of this stack from scratch that is 64bit based.
They also want to build a 11gR2 XE based version that will have a smaller footprint.
We will get them out on OTN as soon as they are done.

Note: as of 16th November 2011 there is a new image that has been updated with Apex4.1, new Hands-on Labs content, includes links to streamed interviews with Development and Engineering.
    You can download it here
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/databaseappdev-vm-161299.html
and it is the same image as on the DVD part# C17757 that we use for OTN Developer Days.

    Oracle Technology Network (OTN)

If the new VM imported succesfully (shows up in powered off mode), and you still get an internal network error when trying to start up the VM.
    Then:
Click 'Ok' to dismiss the error message
Inside your Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager window
Open up the 'Network' settings for the Oracle Developer Days VM
Change your network setting from 'Bridged Adapter' to 'NAT'
click 'Ok' to accept the new network setting.
Restart your Oracle Developer Days VM ,
this should start up fine now and eventually get you to Oracle Linux GUI login prompt,
where you can login as 'oracle/oracle'
When that returns you to the guest desktop, you will have a fully configured 11gR2 database up and running,
The Hands-on Labs (HOLs) can be accessed from Firefox's toolbar menu located on the guest desktop.

  • Database app?

I'm doing some reasearch for the company I work for. As of 1/1/14 we will have a very large list of people that we are not able to do business with as part of a state law. By very large I mean 250,000 statewide.
We are considering ordering ipad minis for those that will be checking the names against the list.  Right now they are checking against a list of 1500, and doing it manually with a printed copy that we have laminated. This is an outside position where we check the names before they enter our property so the ipad mini will help us get to the names quickly and with a weatherproof case we can protect the devise from the weather or against dropping. And with 250,000 names we'll need a searchable database that we can search the names quickly.
We will be provided the list in Excel format. I'm looking for an database app that we can upload a csv file to that will present us a searchable database. Bento was highly rated  but no longer available after 9/30 which creates some doubts about using that one.
We will have 30 - 40 devices at 26 locations that will need to use it.
    Can anyone help?

Perhaps FileMaker Go along with the workstation version for the database development would work.
    http://www.filemaker.com/products/filemaker-go/
There are other database apps in the iTunes Store if Filemaker won't suit your needs. If your iPads will be cellular or otherwise regularly have access to WiFi, you could also build a web-accessed database, something which might make updates much more practical than sending out Excel spreadsheets to be imported on a bunch of devices. You could also host the database with FileMaker Server and access it across the Internet through FileMaker Go.
    Regards.

  • IPad physical education database app

I am a high school physical education teacher at a STEM school where every student has an iPad 2. I want to create a database where every student controls a database where the students use an iPad app to track their workouts and athletic goals. I have the app Bento but it does not generate reports which is necessary. The school cannot buy the app filemaker for all the students as it is too expensive. Can anyone recommend an app for managing this data?

  • Has anyone used an Ipad first generation with the IOS SDK app development kit? If you have or have not did you need more than 16 gigabytes to work with?

What up with these online custormer assists they don't know what their own product is (ISO SDK app development kit) So this is where they send me when they could have answered me yes or no you need that

What "online customer assist" are you referring to? The only entity at Apple that could or would help you with this issue is Apple Developer Support. Is that who you contacted?
In any case, are you referring to the capacity of the iPad itself? If so, a 16GB will be fine for testing unless you have it loaded up with too much stuff for your app to load and run. If that's not what you meant, please clarify.

  • Database Creation Developer Days SQL Developer 3.1

Hey, I am fairly new to the SQL Developer world, but I am working on building a mock database in the vm prior to building it on a physical server.
The problem I am facing is creating a connection, If I go through new connection, make a name, username, pass, and sid, then click test it sends the error.
Status : Failure -Test failed: Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
when I do an sid of orcl it responds:
Status : Failure -Test failed: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
then once I change the Use OCI/Think Driver setting it sends out:
Status : Failure -Test failed: oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CConnection.getLibraryVersionNumber()I
Last test I try is creating a local connection, then when I try to click into one of those DB's it request a password, then errors out:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
    oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CConnection.getLibraryVersionNumber()I
    Vendor code 0
I know I'm new, but any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your time

  • Panels in CS5 for app development?

Are there any panels in CS5 created for mobile devices/Android app development? What are the commonly used tools/panels for app development?

Nope, there no other panels needed when developing for android, the only difference is when outputting the file, you should just keep an eye on the library regarding filesize, although it's not very important you never know.
Many other things in regards to performance can be taken care of, but none of them are in a specific panel ( code, caching bitmaps, filter usage.... etc)

  • Can I use Interop.Excel in Office 365 web app development

    Hi,
I want to develop a app for office 365 web. I know javascript api is available for that purpose but the problem is, it is limited to some functionality only. I want to manipulate excel sheets and ranges so will Interop assembly work ?
    Thanks

    Hi Maulik,
    >>Can I use Interop.Excel in Office 365 web app development <<
No, the Office PIAs is used to interact with Office Client which developet with COM technology. The Office online is different with Office client, it is an service and exposed with HTML.
    >>I know javascript api is available for that purpose but the problem is, it is limited to some functionality only.<<
Did javascript mean JavaScript API for Office? If you have any feedback about apps for Office, you can submit it from link below:

Is getting into a managerial side more easier in the DBA or the apps developer side?

    Mahen,
Before giving an opinion, the most relevant part would be to know that you want to do what, be a manager or be a techie or both? AFIK, in the dba track as well, after few years, a person can become a manager , project/team lead. It all depends on this fact tht you want to be a manager or not. I have got couple of friends, some are managers but some chose to stick with technology only despite that they were offered to become a manager as they didn't like the idea of analyzing the appraisal reports than Statspack reports.
Getting into the manager side would only come(or should come) with a proven record. I am not from Apps background, never did that but I feel that's a more functional side that you have mentioned. If you are a finance guy, having a strong base in finance, you should go for it. I don't think that if you are not having a base in this stream, you should be opting for it. You are still a trainee as per your saying, think about being good in either side of the technology than being the manager. You can always be once you have spend some time with either of the tracks.
