Is it compulsary to install OWB in source system also??
I am asking this because while creating DB link it ask for userid and password..
what i need to give there??

hi guyz,
     i have some doubts regarding generic data source for the following qeastion.
   1).what is ALE pointer(ALE delta)?.in which senario we use this?.can u explain me with one realtime senario so that i can understand easily.

1. ALE is Application Link Enabling (ALE)
It is the set of tools, programs, and data definitions that provides the mechanism for distributing SAP functionality and data across multiple systems. ALE enables the construction and operation of distributed applications.
Its purpose was to overcome the limitations of a single SAP system. A single SAP system that runs on top of one database often does not fulfill the needs of larger corporations, either from a business or a technical perspective.ALE allows the implementation of loosely coupled SAP systems; each of the SAP systems has its own database and is essentially independent from the other systems. ALE allows us to distribute data between different systems and different business processes.
ALE enables you to transfer data(master/transactional data) from an SAP system to SAP/Non-SAP system you can use ALE.This done using IDOCs.
ALE can be divided into
Output Process: Extracting data from database and putting it in the IDOC.
Communication Process: Which involves transferring the IDOC to the target system.
Inbound Process: Posting the IDOC data into the tables of the receiver system.
2. SLA is service level agreement, what you need on this ?? Its an agreement betn client and service provider regarding the service request and their resolution. Like P! issue should be solved in 1 hr , P2 issue 3 hr..something like that, varies from client to client
3. RSMO is used to monitor the data load in BW. You have several options to restrict your criteria to monitor load.
In SM37 if you goto the job and double click on that, it brings you to another screen with some details for the job. IN this screen if you hit the job details button in the resulting screen, it'll show you a PID number and an executing server number. With this combination, you can check the job in SM50.

Regarding MM Data Source

Hi,
I have to enable LO setup for the following MM data Source: 2LIS_03_BF. I activated the DataSource. Now I have to enable the Collection Run. How to enable the Collection run for it.
In SBIW, I have followed the Navigation:
Logistics -> Setting For Inventory Controlling -> Settings: Inventory Controlling -> MM View.
Here I have Plant View and Warehouse View. Here I am struck up with which option to select and also which Info Struct. to provide for the Run.

So according to you it will be enough if we enable the setup in the Job Control??
I am providing you the steps. Please correct if I am wrong..
In Job Control for that specific Data Source (2LIS_03_BF),
Click on Start Date -> Immediate -> Select Periodic Job Check Box -> Periodic Values -> Hourly. Save the Settings and now check in Extract Checker whether data is being extracted or nor.

Regarding BI7 Data sources

Hi
I have replicated the data sources in BI7 for SD and fincial after activating them in R/3.
Now i am getting only Emulated version of data sources. Means 3.X version of data sources , all have square mark on data source name.
Please let me know how i will get BI7 data sources, Or does Data sources exist in bi7 version or not if they exist in bi7 version they why i am not getting them.

3.x DataSource
In the past, DataSources have been known in the BI system under the object type R3TR ISFS; in the case of SAP source systems, they are DataSource replicates. The transfer of data from this type of DataSource (referred to as 3.x DataSources ) is only possible if the 3.x DataSource is assigned to a 3.x InfoSource and the fields of the 3.x DataSource are assigned to 3.x InfoSource InfoObjects in transfer structure maintenance. A PSA table is generated when the 3.x transfer rules are activated, thus activating the 3.x transfer structure. Data can be loaded into this PSA table.
If your dataflow is modeled using objects that are based on the old concept (3.x InfoSources, 3.x transfer rules, 3.x update rules) and the process design is built on these objects, you can continue to work with 3.x DataSources when transferring data into BI from a source system.
DataSource in 7.0
As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0, a new object concept is available for DataSources. It is used in conjunction with the changed objects concepts in data flow and process design (transformation, InfoPackage for loading to the PSA, data transfer process for data distribution within BI). The object type for a DataSource in the new concept - called DataSource in the following - is R3TR RSDS.
When you activate the DataSource, the system generates a PSA table in the entry layer of BI. You can then load data into the PSA. You use an InfoPackage to specify the selection parameters for loading data into the PSA. In the transformation, you determine how the fields of the are assigned to the BI InfoObjects. Data transfer processes facilitate the further distribution of data from the PSA to other targets. The rules that you set in the transformation are applied here.
There fore got to transaction code RSDS or right click on the 3x data source and then go with MIGRATE
Main menu Datasource -> "Migrate 3.x datasource -> datasource" select with export datasource.
After do soo , always go with export so that the meta data will match the existing 3x data source to the new 7 x data source

I am using SCAN ABAP PROGRAM in my code .
        SCAN ABAP-SOURCE source_sub
        TOKENS     INTO i_tokens_sub
        STATEMENTS INTO i_statements_sub
        KEYWORDS   FROM i_keywords_sub
        LEVELS     INTO i_levels_sub
        WITH ANALYSIS.
after this statement execution , i_token getting filled up with token used in source code source_sub
but if i have to catch specific keywords is there a way that i can append those keywords to i_keywords_sub structure and then scan so that a line where that particular keyword used can be captured .
i am not knowing how to do that .Can i get some help on this.

Regarding Error in Source System.

When i try to create a Source System (SAP System).
Firstly i have connect both the system (BW to R/3) via T-Code SM59 (RFC Connection) then it shows connected.
After that, creating a Source System (RSA1) then
it shows error " Message no. R3077 ".
Any help would be appreciated.

Regarding Export Data Source !!!!!

Hi Gurus,
i have a requirement to create a export data source in production system for master data infoobject.then i have to replicate it into Development system. The doubt is once this export data source is created in the production system where i can find this? RSA5...or there is some other transaction? and before replicating these export datasource to Developmentsystem, do i need to activate it?( I know there is prefix of 8 in export data source).

Hi,
You can create it> master data InfoObject>rt click>additional function>export data source.Now you can find it in the datasources in the Source System. Go to Source systems and go to Datasource overview for your BW system. You should find the datasource 8****** under BW Datasources-> Business Info Warehouse -> Data Marts -> Data Marts Master Data.

Hi,
Source application is the application from where the templates will be copied into the new application. Every application has few inbuilt templates (for reports, input schedules, DM packages, etc). These objects are copied from the source application to the newly created application.
Application type determines what is the purpose of your application. Whether is should be a reporting or non-reporting type? Whether the purpose is to do planning or consolidation? You will get more information on this from the below link from help.sap:

If u want ur data source is delta enabled u vl come up vt these terms.
There are various delta processes for SAP source systems:
       1.      Forming deltas with after, before and reverse images that are updated directly in the delta queue; an after image shows the status after the change, a before image the status before the change with a negative sign and the reverse image also shows the negative sign next to the record while indicating it for deletion. This serializes the delta packets. The delta process controls whether adding or overwriting is permitted. In this case, adding and overwriting are permitted. This process supports an update in an ODS object as well as in an InfoCube. (technical name of the delta process in the system): ABR)
       2.      The extractor delivers additive deltas that are serialized by request. This serialization is necessary since the extractor within a request delivers each key once, and otherwise changes in the non-key fields are not copied over correctly. It only supports the addition of fields. It supports an update in an ODS object as well as in an InfoCube. This delta process is used by LIS DataSources. (technical name of the delta process in the system): ADD)
       3.      Forming deltas with after image, which are updated directly in the delta queue. This serializes data by packet since the same key can be copied more than once within a request. It does not support the direct update of data in an InfoCube. An ODS object must always be in operation when you update data in an InfoCube. For numeric key figures, for example, this process only supports overwriting and not adding, otherwise incorrect results would come about. It is used in FI-AP/AR for transferring line items, while the variation of the process, where the extractor can also send records with the deletion flag, is used in this capacity in BBP. (technical name of the delta process in the system): AIM/AIMD)

Some observations:
(1) The use of the Configuration.createRootApplicationModule() API is recommended only for console programs, not web applications, but it should work ok as long as your use of the appliation module is completely stateless (which from the code it looks like it is since you release the AM back to the pool on each request.)
(2) You mention "Stateful" mode, but Configuration.createRootApplicationModule() only supports stateless mode, so you are effectively using Stateless mode.
(3) You are passing true as the 2nd argument to Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule() which means you are asking to immediately remove the application module instance from the pool. This will hurt the scalability of your application since each request will need to be served by creating a brand new instance of the application module.
(4) You are explicitly calling disconnect(). This is not necessary.
I would recommend:
(1) Changing your 2nd argument to releaseRootApplicationModule() to false
(2) Remove the explicit call to disconnect()
(3) Given your usage pattern, I'd recommend calling viewobject.setForwardOnly(true) before calling viewobject.executeQuery() and iterating over the results. This will avoid any caching of the fetched view object results. Also ensure you've read section "27.2 Tuning Your View Objects for Best Performance" of the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers guide on the ADF Learning Center at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html for more performance tips
For example, if you are fetching 65 rows, make sure the fetch size of this view object is at least 66 so you can retried all the rows in one DB roundtrip.

Issue transporting data sources in BI 7.0

Hello guyz
This question is regarding transporting data sources for BI 7.0.
1. First we transport master data sources from ECC Dev to ECC QA.
2. In BI 3.x version, we would need to first replicate these data sources form ECC QA to BI QA.
3. Then we would release our BI transports, which had the transfer and update rules.
4. Do we need to do the same thing in BI 7.0?
5. My understanding is, we do step 1. But then we skip step 2 and just move the data source along with the transformations form BI Dev to BI QA.
6. Please not that we are doing a new implementation, so we are also migrating each and every datasource to its 7.0 version.
7. I just need the step by step method of transporting, (if needed replication and migrations steps) from DEV to QA in the new BI 7.0 world.

After transporting go to the target system and than replicate it.

my report is to get only PR's which has a single vendor for automatic assignment to PO.
i need to fix GET EBAN event.
Can anyone help me regarding this.

Source of supply is nothing but automatic determination of vendor or list of possible vendors for that particular product ir product category...
Whenever you are doing Shop then you can find one tab "source of supply tab"..here you can find automatic source of suppply if already maintained.
These we will maintain in process vendor list t-code...

Dear Experts,
Need clariofcation regarding User data Source for SAP GRC AC .
Till GRC AC 5.3 we can use only one sap backend system as user data source for gettting users like manager,approver etc and have to change User data source if user reside in some other system .
Is this been address with GRC AC 10 .

Hi Asheesh,
Looking at the configuration, you can configure multiple target systems against all of the different data sources and authentication sources. It uses the sequence number to identify in which order these should be accessed.

However, in my experience connecting lots of different systems to take elements of user data causes performance issues and often cuases some confusion about the actual data to be displayed. You'll need to consider the field mapping and source elements casrefuly to ensure you don't get conflicting information.

Ideally, Source application should not modify same file. It should create new file so that you can archive old file.
Are you using FTP/NFS? FCC???
Have you tried option "Msecs to Wait Before Modification Check"?
I m not sure if its useful for you, but just check if it works.

LDAP as a user source in UME

Hi all,
We have a concern regarding the user source to be selected at UME level.
At CUP level you can also set the user source for user details.
Our questions here:
1) Is there any relationship between such user source configuration?
2) Which is the best practice here?

if you're setting up UME to use ActiveDirectory as a data source you can set the CUP data source to UME and get at the AD users from CUP.
While I would advise linking UME to AD usually (if you do that there's no need to create users and passwords for new approvers), I would still create an LDAP connector for AD directly in CUP.
Only the LDAP connector will alllow you to use ALL ActiveDirectory fields for custom fields and/or provisioning extended data into your ERP systems (location, room, department etc.).
