Hello Experts,
I want to implement solman diagnostics in SM 4.0 . reagrding which i hv a few questions:
1. first of all is diagnostics only meant for configuring and diagnosing java based applications or i can configure /use diagnostics for ABAP based systems also in solman?
2. Wt are the prerequisites for implementing diagnostics in solman like do i need to configure EWA and service desk first inorder to implement diagnostics in solman? or if there are any other kind of prerequisites?
3. Lastly the refernce guides over service marketplace and blog over sdn tat i hv gone through i found bit confusing,so many steps are given without usage tat u donno which one toconfigure and which one not to? If somebody can provide Good self prepared document/guide , any good clear and esay to understand link for configuration , it shall be helpful .Also here if broadly steps are mentioned here for configuration along with it ,it shall be appreciated.
Points shall be awarded for useful answers. requested to revert at earliest. my eamil id is [email protected] .

  • Regarding Diagnostics Tool

    hi guys
i have gone thru few Threads, suggesting us to follow below
steps needs to be done for EWA - Java.
    basic steps for JAVA EWA:
1)configure solution manager diagnostics tool in solman
2)install wily interscope manager in solman
3)install SMD agents in satellite system
4)install wily agents in satellite system.
5)make sure about the sp level in satellite system.
The wily files depends on the SP - level
How to execute step 1 "configure solution manager diagnostics tool in solman".
any guide please. Step 1 indicates to execute Diagnostic Setup in NWA?
    Appreciate your response.
    regards

    Hi Markus,
    Thanks for your reply.
I am working on Solman7.0 SP16, trying to setup EWA for JAVA.
I could not find which document exactly to follow for this step 1 task.
Could you please be tell me which document is available now inside this link.

  • Diagnostics agent in managed systems

    Hi Gurus,
We are trying to set up RCA in solution manager.
For this, we need to install diagnostics agents in managed systems.
But, i think those agents are already installed in out systems and am not sure of it. Can anyone please let me know how can i find if diagnostic agent is installed in managed system.
Please do clarify one more thing, we need Solution manager diagnostics in solman system and solution manager diagnostics agents in managed systems. Am i correct??
Please help me out on this.
    Regards,
    Ram.

    Hi
I have gone through all the documents that specified earlier itself.
Our OS is IBM iSeries, so we have multiple SAP systems installed in a single LPAR.
So all the diagnostics agents for all those systems installed in that LPAR should exist in that LPAR itself.
In that way, we have DAA folder in usr/sap of that LPAR. In that DAA folder, we have mutliple folder called ADMA97, ADMA98 etc. So these ADMnn folders represent agents for each system right?. So, how to idenfify that particular agent is for which system? All i could make out is from SYS/profile folder in that DAA folder. I have checked the profiles and identified the host name related to a paricular SAP system.
As per SAP document, these diagnostic agents are automatically installed with system installation as of SAP Web AS 7.0 SR3. All our systems are above that level and i still see some diagnostic agents are not installes for some SAP systems. Is there any possibility like this? SO if i again install the missing diagnostic agents, will they be created under the same /usr/sap/DAA folder or will it create a new folder??
    Hope am clear...
Awaiting your inputs and thanksin advance.

  • Need information about Enhancement packages

    Hi all,
We are planning to implement Enhancement Packages in our Solution Manager server. The primary purpose will be to generate reports for the BI and APO systems configured in the Solman 7.0 system-System status and health check reports.
Can anyone help me with some information and how beneficial EHP will be for reporting and any other better ways to utilize that?
    Thanks,
    Anupama

    Hi Anupama,
Hope this is regarding EHP1 for solman?.
    1) For Health Checks, you already have EWA- this forms the primary Report for your analysis of the system and by default you can get EWA for ABAP-(little configurations needed). But for getting EWA-Java you need to configure Diagnostics. Diagnostics will also help in root cause analysis,in case of any issue - EHP1 has the guided procedure for the same. Also Live cache- workload analysis is also possible.
    2) System Status - Once the sytem monitoring and Alerting mechanism is configured, you can get the status of the system, Errors,
job failures etc. Its an enhancement of CCMS.
feel free to revert for queries.
    Thanks,
    Jagan

  • EWA setup for EP.

    Hello All,
I am trying to make configuration for EWA  setup for EP.
EP version is 7 on windows64bit and Solman version is 4.0 on Solaris64 Bit  with basis and abap SP on 14 level.
When i refereed to previous blogs and notes it says we need to install Wiley intro-scope agent in EP and set up diagnostics in Solman.
Can any 1 please let me know how to move forward. I need to install Wiley intros-8. How to install this on already installed EP.
    Regards,
    Ravi

You will need to install a Wily agent and a SOLMAN Diagnostics agent on your EP system. These agents will report the data to your SOLMAN system. You will need to have Diagnostics configured in your SOLMAN system.
This data will be used for generating an EWA for a JAVA system, like your portal. You can find all the relevant guides on how to set this up at http://service.sap.com/diagnostics
Wily setup guide for example: https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700001995842008E

  • How to apply patches by using solution manager system?

    HELLO FRIENDS,
when i download the patch SAPKB70012 & next level patches from service market place, it says that we have to apply the following packages by using maintenance optimizer(solution manager). here i have solution manager4.0., please any one let me know how to configure the maintenance optimzr  and how to apply support packages by the solution manager system.
              Thanks&Regards
               Farkath.C

    Hello
Solman will not implement the files you can download the files using Solman. You need to move the downloaded files to application server and implement them for that you need to configure MoPZ
You can go to server market place service.sap.com/RKT in that select Solution manager.
You will have to select the product as solution manager 7.0 and in technology consultants and system administrator you will find the configuration documentations in for for SIM files.
You can use that and learn how to configure the optimizer on the system.
Then you can download the files and implement the same.
    Regards
    Vivek

  • Solution Manager for a Functional Consultant

    Hai Friends
I am currently working as an SAP-MM consultant. I want to learn SOLMAN.
    My queries are
Where can I get Study material for SOLMAN ?(apart from help.sap.com)
How SOLMAN helps for a Functional Consultant in implementatin ?
details regarding certification in SOLMAN ?
    Thanks
    Sukumaran.E

    Hello Sukumaran,
There are certainly loads of resource which can help you to get fit for the topic.
I will point out some of them for you:
    <b>Certification Program</b>
    <a href="http://service.sap.com/certification">http://service.sap.com/certification</a>
SAP Consultant Certification -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP Solution Manager 4.0 - Solution Manager Implementation Tools.
This requires you to take the SMI310 as preparatory course which is the SAP Solution Manager course that goes through the intire range of implementation and configuration support provided by SAP Solution Manager.
    <b>RKT material</b>
The ramp-up knowledge transfer material (RKT) consists of role-specific information on a variety of SAP Solution Manager topics.
    <a href="http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman">http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman</a>
Concentrate on SAP Solution Manager 4.0 release and the product offerings for the Solution consultant role. Check the must know section and for a functional insight into the project functionality I'd recommend the tutor <i>SAP Solution Manager in an implementation project</i> and for a methodological insight the tutors on roadmap usage.
    <b>Additional information</b>
Can be obtained via <u></u><a href="http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager">http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager</a>, check out the media libary and for some general questions the FAQ section.
This should help you to get started. Good look for your upcoming taks!
    Best regards,
    Doreen

  • Creating new Roadmaps

    Hi.
We have our own methodology and want to create our own roadmaps and use the Solution Manager for managing projects. I'm interested in any experiences with creating customer roadmaps and use of Solution Manager as a project managment tool.
    Best Regards
    Morten

    Hi Morten,
In answer to your question, yes you can create your own Roadmap - by building it from scratch or by 'adapting' one of the standard Roadmaps and building furthermore.
Please use RMDEF & RMAUTH transactions.
On how exactly to use these, you can find enough information from http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman Tutor files
    (1) [This|https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700004942292004E.sim] provides you a good overview
    (2) [This|https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000687242006E.sim] file is about Roadmap Authoring - Construction
    (3) [This |https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000687212006E.sim]is about Roadmap Modification
As regards use of SolMan as a Project Management tool, my personal view is (others may contest) - please use only if yours is a modest size implementation and not run as multi-stream, multi-geography, multi-phased programme.
It will never be as nimble and user friendly for such heavily customised projects.
    More later.

    Srini

  • Cubes 0SMD* (SolMan Diagnostics)

    Hi!
I want to use data from SolMan Diagnostics to run BI Reports. There are some Content Cubes, e.g. 0SMD_PE2H, but I don't know how these cubes are filled...
Cubes are Real time and have requests starting with APO*, but neither BI-IP nor BPS are used to fill them.
Has anybody an idea, how (report, special job, etc.) data are loaded in these cubes?
    regards,
    Gunter

That's what I'd like to do. That's also why I posted this message, since I am not sure whether the JAVA update will spoil my Solman Diagnostics. Thus far, no issues. Just got a message when login to smd/admin "Upgrade status for the current version is outdated. Please upgrade now.".
I did patch them one by one, since maintenance optimizer isn't installed yet. I need to get approval from SAP to download. ABAP part has been top-up to SP15. So, only JAVA is left to SP14.
    Any advice?
    Regards,
    Agoes

  • Solman 7.0 - Question regarding "New Maintenance Optimizer Transaction"

    Hi All,
Since I'm quite new on Solman transactions, while monitoring my queue, I found 4 tickets that says "New Maintenance Optimizer Transaction".
    This is what's inside:
    "Internal Note             SOLMAN_ADMIN 08.04.2014 08:41:25
The status was set to the value 'Selection'"
Can someone help me on where to find information regarding this, or if this is something I should take a look at?
    Thanks!

    Hi Bua,
Somebody has created an new maintenance transaction from MOPZ of solman, which is used for generated XML for applying support packs and EHPs.
Selection mean, that the user was selecting the components but has now done anything or updated the status

  • SolMan Diagnostics integration with Mercury LoadRunner

    Hi,
I've been reading about the new SolMan Diagnostics and specifically about the Going Live Check that includes a load test of the 3 most important customer click scenarios in SAP Portal using Load Runner tools.
    My questions are:
    1.  The 3 most important customer scenarios are defined by SAP or by the customer?
    2.  The LoadRunner Generator installed in the Sol Man act as a client to generate the load on the SAP Portal?  The script is running in Sol Man hitting the SAP Portal?
    3. If I have my own licensed LoadRunner Controller can I
connect to the same Generator installed in the Solution Manager to run my own scenarios and take advantage of the Sol Man Diagnostics integration?
Thanks for your time and responses.
    Erika B.

    Hi Guyz,
I can see that this thread is just growing. Please find below the steps to accomplish this integration:
    Mercury Quality Centre 9.0 :-
    1)       Ensure Mixrosoft .Net Framework 1.1, SP1 is installed
    2)       Ensure Quality Center 9.0, Patch 9 is installed
    3)       Install the SAP Inspector component on each Quality center client
    SAP Solution Manager :-
    1)       Create an SAP Role with auth objects – S-RFC and S_TABU_DIS
Importing BPH in QA Center :-
    1)       In Import Solution Manager Business Blueprint Wizard, Tools>Import Solution Manager Blueprint
If you have questions, look in to support.mercury.com

  • Need clarification regarding the test cable-diagnostics tdr command

    Hello,
I've read about the test cable-diagnostics tdr command but I need clarification on the examples listed below to make sure that I am providing the right answer to my co-workers.
    Example 1:
    CXXX7SW17#show cable-diagnostic tdr int g0/20
TDR test last run on: July 16 10:23:00
Interface Speed Local pair Pair length        Remote pair  Pair status
    Gi0/20    auto  Pair A     N/A                        N/A                Normal
                           Pair B     72   +/- 10 meters  N/A                Open
                           Pair C     75   +/- 10 meters  N/A                Short/Crosstalk
                           Pair D     74   +/- 10 meters  N/A                Short/Crosstalk
Does this example mean that there's a cable length issue in the line which is causing the device that it's connected to not to work properly?
    Example 2:
    CXXX2SW140#show cable-diagnostics tdr int g0/21
TDR test last run on: July 16 09:16:22
Interface Speed Local pair Pair length        Remote pair Pair status
    Gi0/21    100M  Pair A     N/A                      Pair A           Normal
                              Pair B     N/A                      Pair B           Normal
                              Pair C     N/A                     Pair C           Normal
                              Pair D     N/A                     Pair D           Normal
Does this example state that the cable line is okay for use?
    Example 3:
    CXXX1SW19#show cable-diagnostics tdr int g0/22
TDR test last run on: July 16 06:36:53
Interface Speed Local pair Pair length            Remote pair Pair status
    Gi0/22    auto    Pair A       1    +/- 10 meters  N/A               Open
                              Pair B     39   +/- 10 meters   N/A               Open
                              Pair C     72   +/- 10 meters   N/A               Open
                              Pair D     1    +/- 10 meters    N/A               Open
Does this example mean that there isn't a device connected on the other end? No pin-contact?
Thank you very much for any help you could provide.

I found this article here at supportforums that seemed like the best explanation I've read so far for TDR info.
    Hope that helps.

  • Solman E2E diagnostics and Wily Introscope.

Does anybody have any time scales for setting up Solman Diagnostcis and Wily Introscope. I have a quote for this work and would like peoples past experience of time scales for this.
I have a 3 system landscape PRD, QUA, DEV and obviously SOLMAN.
I need  to set up the SMD agents on each server involved and install the required Wily components

    HI,
If you have downloaded all the necessary s/w then you complete the E2E RCA setup in 1 day for one system(including buffers)  including Wily.
E2E RCA config, can be completed as part of solman_setup. Once you have completed your initial and basic setup, solman is ready for managed system config.
I would recommend following timeline including buffer
two - three  days for Basic configuration and initial configuration.
Installation of SMD takes less than 20 mins/ host. Wily installation also should not take more than an hour
Managed system config - this depends on which application are you configuring. in case of SAP application, you should be able to finish one SID in one day (including buffer)
