hi
SAP net weaver is a platform which work as foundation for integration of components of SAP with each other ,
WAS  is one of them (component)
other are like
SAP  Enterprise Portal
SAP  Business Information Warehouse ( BIW )
SAP  Exchange Infrastructure
SAP  Knowledge Management ( KM )
SAP  Mobile Infrastructure – Not yet fully released
SAP Master Data Management ( MDM )
SAP Composite Application Framework
SAP Life Cycle Management
The fragrance/essence of integration of all of the above in a unified development platform is called SAP NetWeaver. So, the name Integrated Development Environment ( IDE ) inherited for SAP NetWeaver.
SAP NetWeaver provides,
an open integration – Ex: Platform independent,
an extended application platform – Ex: xApps,
permits the integration of the Enterprise Services Architecture (ESA),
an unified business processes across technological boundaries,
integration of applications as needed, and
access and edit simple information easily and in a structured manner.

  • Difference between ITS and WAS server

difference between ITS and WAS server

    Hello Pradeep,
The ITS is the Internet Transaction Server.  WAS is Web Application Server.  I'm not sure how to compare the two because the WAS from Basis 6.40 and higher includes the ITS.  I think the question you wanted to ask is the difference between the Standalone ITS and the Integrated ITS???
The Standalone ITS is installed on a web server (IIS or Apache usually).  It could also include another server that we call the AGate.
The Integrated ITS comes with the WAS Basis 6.40 and higher.  Therefore not needing a separate web server.
There is also a note that lists some differences of the two.

  • KM feature difference between Netweaver and EP6 SP2.

    Folks,
I need to come up with advantages of upgrading our EP6 SP2 ) environment to Netweaver stack. . I have heard a lot about it. I now need to document this.
Now I want to make a solid case of this to my Management and get their buy in.
Where can I find information where I can get a comparison primarily from a KM standpoint, and overall portal feature set.
Based on this I have to come with a ROI model that will help us migrate to Netweaver stack.
Any help would be appreciated. And I promise to return and reward the answers. thanx rj.

    Thanks
    Harpreet

    Hi Harpreet:
ITS is basically the tool that allow you to use SAP via http. Theres lots of info about <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/0d/654d356560054ce10000009b38f889/frameset.htm">ITS</a> or <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/5f/0ef441ad7bc417e10000000a155106/frameset.htm">WebAS with Integrated ITS</a>
The ITS is a standalone application connected to R3 via RFC connection, In the SAP WebAS the ITS is integrated to the system.
    Hope this help!

  • What is the difference between NetWeaver 7.3 and NetWeaver 7.03?

    Hi Experts,
Can anydoby explain me the difference between NetWeaver 7.3 and NetWeaver 7.03? or say difference between NetWeaver 7.2 and NetWeaver 7.02?
I have been confused by these 2 terms. As far as I know, the features of AS ABAP in NetWeaver 7.3 and NetWeaver 7.03 are almost same. The same applies to NetWeaver 7.2 and NetWeaver 7.02.
BTW, as I know the BS2011 are based on NetWeaver 7.03, PI 7.3 are based on NetWeaver 7.3.
    Thanks and Best Regards

Moderator message: not directly related to ABAP development, please search for available information, e.g. in the Netweaver forums.

Yes, all 4.x dot releases (updates) are free of charge to all version 4 owners.
You only pay again for the next major version upgrade = version 5  unless you're a Cloud member where all upgrades and updates are included in the membership fee.

  • Difference between Netweaver 7 SR2 and Netweaver 7 SR3

    Guys,
Can anyone tell me the difference between Netweaver 7 SR2 and Netweaver 7 SR3, I have a question out with SAP regarding the supportability of SCM 5.1 on Windows 2008.
The response I got back was that SCM 5.1 is based on Netweaver 7 SR2, but it was my understanding that the SR designation was for the level of support packs and kernel upon vanilla installation. Have I missed something fundamental, because my SCM installation is patched to the highest level and therefore surpasses the patch and kernel levels provided by Netweaver 7 SR3.
    TIA
    Chris

    Hello Chris,
The main difference between these releases is the initial SP level that comes with each media kit:
    NetWeaver 7.0 SR3:  14
    NetWeaver 7.0 SR2:  9
    NetWeaver 7.0 SR1:  6
For more details, you can check note:
#789220  Support Package level for NetWeaver Installations/Upgrades
Other differences relate to the (new) installer with some bugs corrections and a few additional features and restrictions:
    - the Unicode restriction in SR3:  "Only Unicode support for new installations" - "Every newly installed SAP system is a Unicode system. However, non-Unicode is still supported for copied and upgraded systems." So a new install based on SR3 must be UNICODE. On the other way, if you upgrade your, say, SR1 system to SR3, you can still run it NON-UNICODE.
    - SR3 supports only 64bit new installs on the Central Instance. However, if you need to add dialog instances (application servers), they can be 32bit ones (albeit 64bit is always recommended). When upgrading your system from SR1 to SR3 (for example), you can skip this restriction. That is, you can keep your CI in 32bit, although this is highly not recommended.
A common workaround for these restrictions (if you want to keep your system NON-UNICODE and/or if you want to keep it 32bit) is to:
    1) Install a SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR2 (SAP ERP 2005 SR2, SAP CRM 5.0 SR2, SAP SCM 5.0 SR2, SAP SRM 5.0 SR2) system.
    2) Patch this system to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 (SAP ERP 6.0, SAP CRM 5.0 SR3, SAP SCM 5.0 SR3, SAP SRM 5.0 SR3).
There are more features / restrictions on the installation guides for SR3 in section: "1.1 New Features"
Also, there is many more minor differences like, for example, that you can only install a SAP system in a Windows 2008  from NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 and up - see note #1054740.
    I hope this information helps.
    Best regards,

  • Differences between Netweaver 2004 and Netweaver 2004s?

    Hi All,
Can anyone please explain me in details the major differences between Netweaver 2004 and Netweaver 2004s.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Henry

    Hi Henry,
This content i got from experts:
The code developed on 2004 will work on 2004s.
Some minor changes have been made refer to the documentation for specific details
SAP NW2004s is the mySAP Business Suite edition of SAP NW 2004.it is a minor release that delivers on specific needs of the mySAP and xapps solutions delivered by SAP in 2005. the "s" stands for "mySAP Business Suite Edition".
The next major release of NW will deliver on Business Process Platform(BPP) it will be released in 2006.
Few of the New capabilities in NW2004s
1)Developing a web based user interface with Web Dynpro fro ABAP.
    2)Enhancements to enabling B2B processes
    3)Enhancements to business task management
    4)Enhancements to business planning
    5)Enhancements to enterprise data warehousing
    6)mass setup of mobile devices
    7)implementing a global portal

NW04 is a 'Java version' which means you can develop applications using Java and export them to portal.
NW04s is a 'ABAP version'.Here you can develop ABAP reports and transactions and export them to portal. There you can create iViews using them.
Netweaver 04s, includes both the ABAP and Java stacks. The Sneak preview for NW04s is only for the ABAP stack, and the Sneak Preview NW04 SP15 is only the java stack. If you are using the sneak preview for ABAP, you can develop WDA applications and BSP applications, they run directly in the engine, not in a portal. But they can be embeded in an iView in some portal. You don't have to have a portal to run your application. If you are using the java side, you can develop WDJ applications and JSP applications. Same applies here, they run on the java engine, not in a portal, but can be embeded into an iView which runs on the portal. But you don't need a portal for your application to run. The portal is just a frontend UI, the apps themselves run on the underlying engine, whether its ABAP or JAVA.

  • Difference between NetWeaver 2004 and NetWeaver 7.0 or 7.1

I am little confused and curious to know the recent changes happening in SAP.
Can you please tell me the differences between NetWeaver 2004 and NetWeaver 7.0 or 7.1
NetWeaver 2004 is named because SAP has released it in 2004
and then we have XI 3.0, XI.7.0(that is PI right) , EP6.0 etc as individual components have different versions released in NewtWeaver suite.
But what is this NetWeaver 7.0.
We have EE5 or ECC6 and WebAs 6.4 or GUI 6.4 or recently GUI 7.o or WebAs 7.0.
How does all these differe, is individual component of NetWeaver upgraded with higher versions or total NetWever is upgraded with a higher version.
Can any one please tell me the exact difference between versions.
If some one has ECC6 installed in their environment does it mean that they have Netwaver components like XI, EP, MDM.. etc are installed or its only R/3, BI etc...
    How it works exactly?
    Thanks,
    Kiran.

actuallly i involved in upgradation project, here my role is
    1. first i check the query's in 3.5 save the query and transport the query. and check the query in bex analyzer also.
    2. go to BI .7  find the query;s ,give the query name and save the query ,
    3. once save the query, again will come to 3.5 open the query , it will not open. this is my job here,
come to 7.0 check the query in analyzer also.
i am having littile bit confusion, how it will comes query in 7.0, why are u saving the query's in 3.5 and 7.0
query's already available in 7.0 why are u doing this work?
can i know the upgrades those  objects, is it neccessary, if necessary how can i upgrade.
infoobje , transferrules, transferstructure ,infosoure, datasoure, updaterules, ods, cubes.
    Points will be Assingned ,
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
I was talking in a general sense not on a query level.
If your taling about migration in that level meaning as a part of larger upgradation (in your case 3.x to 7) there may be many places where you need to do this kind of activities.
Fr eg migration into new data flow, Migration of Web templates from BW 3.x to Netweaver 2004s, etc
    Hope this helps.

  • Difference between CHAR and VARCHAR2 datatype

Difference between CHAR and VARCHAR2 datatype
    CHAR datatype
If you have an employee name column with size 10; ename CHAR(10) and If a column value 'JOHN' is inserted, 6 empty spaces will be inserted to the right of the value. If this was a VARCHAR column; ename VARCHAR2(10). How would it handle the column value 'JOHN' ?

The CHAR datatype stores fixed-length character strings, and Oracle compares CHAR values using blank-padded comparison semantics.
Where as the VARCHAR2 datatype stores variable-length character strings, and Oracle compares VARCHAR2 values using nonpadded comparison semantics.
    This is important when comparing or joining on the columns having these datatypes;

  • Difference between MBBS and MB5L report.

All capital inventory till FY-2008-09 was transferred to revenue inventory by movemnt typr 411-Q in MB1B.All the codes those were transferrd are now appearing in MBBS but with zero value. However these codes are appearing in MB5L with value under GL 132006 (for capital items) and having value of 1.08 crores (0.94 crore for imported items and 0.14 crore for revenue items). The GL for all these codes neds to be changed to 132000 (revenue inventory GL) so that in MB5L also these items appear as revenue items. As of today GL of all the codes appearing under GL 132006 are to be changed to 132000 except code 496700086.
now, changes are reflected in report MBBS but not showing correct information in MB5L report..
Please guide what is the difference between MBBS and MB5L report.

    Hi,
MBBS gives stock values of "project'" and "sales order" only.
MB5L gives total stock value .

  • Difference between mtl_system_items and mtl_system_items_b

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me the difference between mtl_system_items and mtl_system_items_b ?
    Regards,
    Shruti

mtl_system_items is a synonym that points to mtl_system_items_b
mtl_system_items used to be the actual items table in older versions.
But in recent version the mtl_system_items_b is the items table. If any old code was using mtl_system_items, the synonym helps it compile and thus make this change backward compatible.
Oracle follows the following convention to handle multi-language.
The b stands for base table. And then there is a table called tl (e.g. mtlsystem_items_tl). In the _tl table, for each base record, you can find multiple records - one for each language that you use.
    Hope this answers your question,
