Regarding DTP Delta

Hi all,
i am facing a problem with the delta dtp...
can any one suggest the correct approach relating to the following scenario...
i am loading the data to my staging ods.. currently delta dtp's are running to my ods thru ds -- 2lis_11_vakon
Now i have to run a repair full for this ds.. because some condition types are not populating for the long time..
i have filled the setup tables and ran a repair full to our ds..
now data has come to till psa -- it has got 1 crore records..
while i am running the delta dtp -- to load it into target --> it is taking my request and got no records into ods...
what is the problem here .. in dtp monitor i am seeing the data packages are around 860 .
but to target it hasn't fetched any thing ..
can anyone throw a light on this one..

i have no authorization to delete the psa request .
but, y we need to delete the psa data ??
and one more thing is y we need to run full dtp here -- because dtp always gets the data from psa . and in my latest request repair full is there ... so thru delta it has to fetch??
i have encountered another problem here if i run full dtp..
i.e ., the request will update to the target but at the time of activation of the request it is asking to delete the init overlap first...
where can i delete my first init overlap in 7.0 ??
please suggest me the correct approach..

DTP Delta request for open hub destination.

Hi expert,
As you know, In BW 7.0, open hub destination is used for open hub service, and you can create tranformation/DTP for the destination. and in some case the DTP delta is enabled.
my questions are
1) in the context menu of open hub destination, I did not find something like manage, which could list all the DTP request executed for this open hub destination..but for normal infocube or ods, you can find a list.
2) if the DTP could enable the delta, where can I delete the latest delta request, and have a new load..
3) I assume the DTP could be excuted with batch integrated with process chain by process type 'DTP', right ? if the destination type is third party tool, can it also be integrated with process chain ?
4) can give some obvious difference of InfoSpoke and open hub destination in terms of advantage and disadvantage..

Questions regarding DTP

I am trying to load data from ODS to a Cube and have the following questions regarding DTP behaviour.
1) I have set the extratcion mode of the DTP to delta as I understand that it behaves like init with data transfer for the first time. However, it fetches the records only from the change log of the ODS. Then what about all the records that are in the active table. If it cannot fetch all the records from the active table then how can we term it as init with data transfer.
2) Do I need to have to seperate DTPs - One for full load to fetch all the data from the active table and another to fetch deltas from the change log.

1. When you choose the Delta as Extraction mode you get the data from only change log table.
Change log table will contain all the records.
Suppose when you run a load to DSO which contains 10 records and activate it. Now those 10 records would be available in Active table as well as Change log.
Now in the Second load you have 1 new record and 1 changed record. When you activate, your active table will have 11 records. The change log will have before and after image records for the changed record along with 11 record.
So The cube needs that images, so that data can't be mismatched with old data.
2.If you run the full load to Cube from DSO you need to delete the old request after the load. which is not necessary in the previous case.
In Bi 7.0 when you choose full load extraction mode you will have flexibility to load the data either from " Active Table or Change log table".

Hi Guys,
I have a small doubt regarding Generic Delta Extraction. In Generic Delta i choose Calday on Posting Date. And am getting data on Daily basis. Here My doubt is can I use this posting date in field selection in Info package. If not?Please give me clarification regarding the same.

If I have understood correctly, Posting date has been chosen as the delta field in datasource.
I don't think you can use the fiield in infopackage selection because the field is used to extract delta for that generic datasource and the system doesn't allow us to put a filter on the filed which is responsible for delta .
If system wud have allowed us to put a selection on that field then correct delta will not be loaded in BI.
System can not allow us to play with deltas and hence the field is not avaialble for selection .

Need of Change log deletion for a DSO, when DTP delta Init with Active Tabl

Thanks for your time, please help me with the following
Scenario: I have Cube1 being updated from DSO1 with DTP delta, for quite some time. As per new requirement, I would need to create new data mart such that Cube2 gets updated from DSO1.
In order to Configure the delta, I am Considering Following options, please let me know, which one is right one.
Note: DSO1 is in Overwrite Mode.
Create one DTP with update Mode "Delta" , and "Active Table". I knew Delta Changes are captured in change log, but my understanding is, when you execute the DTP for the First time, it fetches the records from Active Table. And from 2nd Run onwards the very "same DTP" without "any changes" get the records from change log, even if we choose "Active Table".
is my understanding is Right?
Do I have to consider deleting the change log, because DSO1 is in Production from quite some time which is in Overwrite mode?
Do I have to create a DTP with Delta and Active Table, run the dtp Once(Init), then choose "Change Log for subsequent runs explicitly
please help me with these. I have reviewed many sap help articles and sdn threads but none of them were helpful. all of them explains, difference b/w active table and change log table, also gives scenarios like use a full DTP and then 2nd DTP with Delta without Data transfer. I am not looking for that kind of details.

to your question, If I need to load all the data from DSO1 to Cube1, answer is NO. if you read my post once again,
Existing Flow is : DSO1 --> Cube1 (Means, Active Table and Change Logs of DSO1 already Filled Up)
Requirement is: DSO1 --> Cube2. (Need to Init the Delta, and Detlas going forward)
My Questions:
(1) Imagine, DSO1 has 10 requests, so we see resepctive data in Active Table as well as Change Log. As a matter of fact, Data is being updated to DSO1 in Overwrite Mode, so all the changes(10 requests equivalent) would be captured in Change Log, which in turn helpful / used when we do Delta from DSO1 to any Cube, in my case, it used to update to Cube1. As per new requirement, it needs to update to Cube2.
My assumption is, if I choose "Active table and Delta in Extraction Tab" in DTP, During First Run (Delta Init), Data would be fethed from Active table. And the 2nd Run Onwards, delta records would be fetehced from Change Log automatically, even if we don't change the selection from Active Table to Change Log.
Is My Assumption Right?,
in this process, Do I have to Delete Change Log
(2) Do I have to Explicitly change DTP setting from "Active Table to Change Log" Once Delta Init has been run with setting "Active table" inorder to get Deltas from DSO1 --> Cube2 ?

If in PSA you have 2 request
e.g
Req 2 100 Rec
Req 1 200 Rec
Now First time you are running
If
FULL : All the 2 request will come to DSO
Req 2 100 Rec
Req 1 200 Rec
If
DELTA : All the 2 request will come to DSO
Req 2 100 Rec
Req 1 200 Rec
Now there is one more request comes in your PSA
e.g
Req 3 100 Rec
Req 2 100 Rec
Req 1 200 Rec
Now In case of
FULL LOAD : 3 Request will come in DSO
Req 3 100 Rec
Req 2 100 Rec
Req 1 200 Rec
In case of
DELTA LOAD : 1 Request will come in DSO
Req 3 100 Rec

Regarding the Delta Logic in the Report

Hi Abap gurus,
i have selection screen for 3 fields in one block called material, plant and extract date. if the user selects the extract date as todays date then data has to fetch the as per todays date.
i have two radio buttons on the selection screen for the second block. one is change material and second is all materials.
if user clicks on first radio button then only change material and aslo newly posted records for that date has to come.
how to build the logic for this? i have developed upto first part. data is coming fine. how to build the delta logic? i am working for the site receipts. guide me in this issue. if possible post the code.

DTP Delta and Full Load...

Dear All,
I'm working with SAP BW 7.3 and I have a standard data flow, starting with DataSource, DSO and InfoCube. My process chain faced an error and for last week or so I could not fetch deltas. To remove the error I had deleted all records from InfoCube, since I had all requests available into DSO. Then I manually loaded Full Load from DSO to InfuCube. But next day when my process chain executed it brought all precious and new records again into InfoCube, as the delta was properly fetched into DSO but it did not come into InfoCube, as it was coming before. When I checked Active and Change Log tables of DSO these two had same number of records.
1. What could be the reason that delta DTP between DSO and InfoCube is not fetching only delta records, it was fetching deltas records before full load?
2. Have I made a mistake or missed any setting in DTP while executing full Load DTP between DSO and InfoCube?
3. What are these options for in Extraction Tab of DTP and when we use following options and why:
    i.   Active Table (with Archive)
    ii. Acitve Table (Without)
    iii. Archive (Full Extraction only)
    iv. Change Log

Please check the below:
Delta Init. Extraction from
Active Table (with Archive)
The data is read from the DSO active table and from the archived data.
Active Table (Without Archive)
The data is only read from the active table of a DSO. If there is data in the archive or in near-line storage at the time of extraction, this data is not extracted.
Archive (Full Extraction Only)
The data is only read from the archive data store. Data is not extracted from the active table.
Change Log
the data is read from the change log and not the active table of the DSO.

Hi,
When you open the Transformations -> there is an icon (it will display as Detail when you keep the cursor on the icon) just before the Start Routine button. click it -> you will get the details of Last changed by/Changed On/Changed at and Person Responsible.
For DTP -> Go to (in the menu bar) -> overview of the DTP -> you will get details of Last changed by/Changed On/Changed at and Person Responsible.

DTPs - Delta Init without Data transfer.

Can anyone tell me if their is way to implement the "Delta Init without Data transfer" scenario with DTPs for
both R/3 to BW(ODS) extraction or for the Datamarts - ODS to Cube within BW??

Hi Rao,
Yes u can achieve Initialization without data in BI 7 DTPs.
Goto ur DTp's Execute Tab, and Processing mode there drop down the list and select No Data Transfer,Delta Status in Source: Fetched.

Regarding generic delta numeric pointer

Hello gurus,
I have done changes in RS02 --> vbak table on field VBELN > using numeric pointer>new status of changed records.
I have set changes for Delta pointer too e.g 50000 in ROOSGENDLM .
I have entered sales data in VA02 transaction. Say document 50006 has been created. But records are not updated to delta queue during delta load in BW
For LO, we are scheduling job for updating records from extraction queue to delta queue.
Do we need to schedule any job?? So that new/changed data is updated to delta queue.

1)It will count numeric pointers and if the changes in R/3 create a new record with a new numeric pointer which is different then the orginal record then it will get pulled as delta.
2)in numeric pointer option you can give the field name of the table which can be a any numeric or char field like document number.
3)If the posting is happening at the same time then depending upon the offset given it will come in the next load.
you will never miss any delta if lower limit is set properly.
4)If lower limit is 10 then the last 10 records get pulled again.Thats why you are asked to load such kind of delta loads to a DSO in overwrite mode.
5)use it only when you have a field like document number or a numeric number which is created when a record is changed or created.You can have a documnet number as numeric pointer if you intrested only in new records and not the changes happening to them.
To capture the changes you may need some other field like changed on date.

Regarding generic delta.

does any sap bw gurus know the answer to my doubt.
i have created 3 views from mm tables (EBAN,MSEG,MKPF,GLPCA) AND FROM THESE 3 views i have created 3 generic data sorses in r/3 dev server and transported to r/3 quality server and loaded from r/3 qlty server to ods with full update mode in infopackage.
now i want to load delta records for those geeric data sorses, what is the procedure. i have not selected the delta option while creation of data sorses but loaded into ODS with full update.now i want to get delta records, what is the process?
Suppose i have selected generic delta and given some field to get delta records in r/3 dev server, does it effect in r/3 qualty server or do i need to transport same recquest or new recquest for delta from dev to quality server?

Hi,
ODS may not let you load deltas if there are Full loads already loaded. So either you have to delete them or make them into Full repair using FM RSSM_SET_REPAIR_FULL_FLAG.
This you can decide after talking to users, if they are ok with the data unavailability during the reload, you can delete these data.
Then perform the changes (delta DS) in the DEV and transport it to QUAL.
Then the usual procedure, replicate in BW, perform init load and start deltas.

We are using two Infospokes,one for the Full and one for Delta.We get the full data using full update,But when we run the Delta Infospoke,First run it is picking all the records.From the second run it is picking deltas.Please shed some light on this issue.
