Regarding folders in worksets..

Hi all,
I am new to portal. Can anyone tell me the significance of folders under worksets.
I have a sap tutor which  creates a folder after workset is created.
If i create a folder under workset then i can add iviews or pages to it with or without folders. Then what is the significance of folders??
Regards,
Subodh

Hi,
Folders can be used to organize and manage documents in your private folders and to publicize information within your company in shared folders. The folders are displayed hierarchically in a folder tree. Also maintain iViews/Pages/Worksets within folder.

  • Sort priority of merged folders and worksets

    Hi Forum!
I have a challenge, which I hope some of you can contribute to solving:
I'm trying to merge several roles, which have different structures, but I can't get the sorting to work. Here goes :
    Structure of my different roles:
    1 : Role -> Folder -> iView
    2 : Role -> Folder -> Workset -> ....
I've setup merge ID's on the folders, so they merge fine into one top-level navigation item - no problem here.
But my problem is to control 2nd. level navigation. I can't set any navigational priorities on the iView directly attached to the folder, which leaves me without any possibility to control the sort-sequence on 2nd level. I already tried to insert a folder or workset in between the folder and iView level, but this also results in an additional navigation layer, which I don't want.
Any ideas, on how to solve this ?
    Rgds.

    Hi Claus,
the property you are looking for is called "Sort Priority" (or Sortierpriorität in German).
This property is available for iViews, pages, worksets and folders. SAP Help link
If none of the objects has a sort priority or all objects have the same priority the content is displayed in the order of appearance in the role. If some have a sort priority and some not the ones with prio are displayed first in the order of ther prio and then the rest...
    Should work that way!

  • Regarding roles and worksets ??

    hi
    is it possible ??
i  have made 2 roles nd 6 worksets ..in 1 role made the entry point no and made the entry point yes for there worksets....these are shown in tabs ...
now i want to use the same worksets for a new role  but want to make the role entry point 'yes'..
and doest not want to show the worksets shown in tab  for 2 nd role ..want that 2nd role will be shown in tabs

    Hi Arpit,
If I understand you correctly you have a role with worksets inside the role which are entry points (meaning you see them in the 1st level in the TLN).
Now you have a 2nd role which you want to see in the 1st level TLN, and want the
2nd level TLN for this role to have the same worksets you used in the other (1st) role.
In order to do that, just create delta links for the worksets, and add them to the 1st and to 2nd role.
These will actually be the same worksets. when you make changes to the original worksets, you'll see the changes in both roles.

  • Display the reports under all subfolders at a time in the content area?

    Hi All,
In SAP EP portal,We have a requirement to display few reports wherein we have 7 roles with the same names but different ID's and they are merged together so that even if the users have 7 roles assigned he will see only 1 tab in the first level navigation and uder that there will  be one folder at the second level. Now the requirement is like this
1st level navigation : Role Name
    2nd level navigation :Folder Name
    Detailed Navigation : Folder Name
                                     Sub Folder Name
                                     Sub -sub folder1 Name
                                     Reports   --(one or many)
                                     Sub -sub folder2 Name
                                     Reports   --(one or many)
                                     Sub -sub folder3 Name
                                     Reports   --(one or many)
Under al the sub-sub folders a workset map iview is added to display the reports with a pictogram in the content area.In the detailed navigation, as soon as the user clicks on the Sub folder the user should be able to see the reports under all the Sub-sub folders( Sub-sub folder1,Sub-sub folder2,Sub-sub folder3) .But currently the user has to explicitly click on each of the Sub-sub folders to view the reports(thrice in this case).Plz give a solution in which all the reports under the 3 Sub-sub folders should appear simultaneouly in the content area at a single click on Sub Folder

  • Missing MSS iViews in Federated Portal Network

Hello, portal gurus, we have a FPN related issue that hope some of you can help.
We have two portal systems that we set up as a Federated Portal
Network. One producer portal, verision is 7.0, SP11, and one
consumer portal, version is 7.0 SP13. We installed the ESS and MSS business
packages in the producer portal. Those business packages came with the SAP NetWeaver
2005 installation, and they are working ok on the producer portal.
In addition, we were able to do the remote role assignment in the
consumer portal successfully. The problem is that some of the MSS
links and iViews that are shown up ok in the producer portal are missing from the consumer portal.
Have anyone experienced the same issue? Is it because the dismatch of the SP level causing the issue? Are there any fixes to this issu?
Thanks a lot for any input!
    Jane

    Hi Jane,
PCD content and KM content are two different things and they have different transport mechanism.
If you want to transport PCD content to another portal go to System Administration/Transport/Transport Package/Export. In PCD tree in any place create transport package and add to it objects which you need (folders, roles, worksets, iviews and so on) and save transport package file localy on your computer or server. After that go to the system where you want to locate your content. Go to System Administration/Transport/Transport Package/Import If you save tranport file localy on your computer chose client and upload tranport file.
KM transport very clear describe here How to Export KM Contents by ICE protocol using Offline Channel Beside this way you can transport KM content use program Portal Drive (very useful program especially when you need quickly transport some KM files from one portal to another).

    Hi Bala,
Thanks for your answer, when you say
Make sure all the PCD objects in the custom folder have end user permissions and assing XEMP role to end users
I went to custom folder A and copied Employee Self-Service(inside this it has folders iview, worksets, pages,Transport package which contains ess pcd objects) from content provided by sap.
In custom folder A i created a role XEMP and added the workset Employee Self-Service to XEMP as deltalink from copied Employee Self-Service folder in Cutom folder A.
Now for setting permissions , i opened  folder A and want to set enduser permissions to it.
1.so does it means  add the Everyone group and check the Enduser  permission column in permissions table.
    or
2.add eu_role and check check the Enduser permission column  in permissions table.
    or
3.add eu_core_role and check check the Enduser permission column  in permissions table.
    and then
give the XEMP role to Everone group in user administration.
There is a srvconfig folder in content provided by sap which is also being used in ess, what permissions does this folder require, for ender users .please provide your valuable answer.
    Thanks,

  • Portal Content Copy Folder Error

    Hi,
In Portal Content Admin, the folders <b>Key Account Manager</b> & <b>CRM</b> are provided by business package and located under <i>Content Provided by SAP -> specialist</i>.
When these folders are copied to another folder for further customization, <b>Key Account Manager</b> is copied successfully but for <b>CRM</b>, following error message is shown:
    Copy: CRM
    Error
Source object not found. It may have been deleted.
Then, I tried to copy <b>CRM</b>'s subfolder. Small folders (packages, pages, roles, templates) completed successfuly but the complicated folders (iViews & Worksets) failed with the same error message.
Although I can try to copy the sub-folders one by one, it is too tedious & error-prone.
How can the <b>CRM</b> folder be copied completed?
    Regards,
    Tony

The reason for the error is still unknown.
By the way, with the help of Content Mirroring, this error is not an issue for me anymore. Using Content Mirroring instead of Copy & Paste is also suggested by SAP document: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/ed/fd25c7c14c4094a9fbb19851d79dd1/content.htm

  • Folder Assignment to Role

    Hi,
I have iviews in folders(ABC and XYZ) which are placed  in Content Admin-->Portal content . I want Assign this folder to Roles with out using work set. Is it possible???Please let me know the procedure.

    Hi,
If you want to show folderwise in DTN to the user, then you can create folders from role page. E.g., Create role and workset. Add workset to role. Now open the role page. Right click workset listed under role -> Create New Folder. Give name as ABC. Similarly create another folder XYZ. Add the iViews from ABC portal content folder to role first. Then right click the iViews listed under role one by one and click cut. Now right click XYZ listed under workset and choose Paste. This way you can cut all the iViews and paste them in folders under workset. Now if entry point of role is true, then role is 1st level, workset in 2nd and folders will list in DTN. If you expand folder, you can find the iViews.

  • Column headers in forms are garbled

    Hi,
I have one issue regarding folders in forms. User has set some custom folder on a form with following properties.
    Autoquery = Never,
Check boxes checked : Open as Default, Public.
User has set this folder as default folder. When user goes to particular window, he sees some column headers are garbled and not shown correctly.
I checked user's .fmb file and compared with file on arcs log and did not find any differences between them.
Can anybody suggest what might be the cause for this? What kind of set up may cause this?
    Thanks,
    Akshay

Thanks much. I found the correct file, deleted it, and the column headers and data match up again.
I found the correct file by searching the directory for one of the column names that occurs in the view (though I had to find both instances of "COLUMN_NAME" and "COLUMN NAME" (without the underscore)). Not sure why there were files with both versions.
Do you know if there is any way to prevent those XXXXXXXXXTableSettings.xml files from writing all together (oracle.javatools.controls.nicetable.NiceTablePersistentSettings)? I looked through the SQL Developer preferences but nothing jumped out as being the setting to switch off.
Should I be doing anything in particular to bring more attention to this potential bug so it might get fixed in a future release?
    Thanks again,
    Morgan

  • Role properties are in read only mode

  • Default entry for Folder property - Changed behavior in SP14???

    Hello,
Has anyone run into changed behavior for this page property in SP14. It seems to be valid for pages in both folders and worksets.
Ex. We have a workset that sits at 2nd level nav just below a 1st level entry point. So the workset is a 2nd level nav choice. The top page in that workset is the landing page for that nav and previously in SP9 the nav worked fine. We are finding now that in SP14 we have to set the Default Entry for Folder property to "yes" to make the 2nd level nav work. This could be another config issue in our environments but is following SP14 so far. Has anyone else sen this?
    Thanks,
    Doug Steckel
    Air Products & Chemicals

    Hi Daniel,
    NavStructure:
    ... -  Folder A
           - Page A <inv & defPage>
           - Page P1
           - Page P2
If you click on folder A, you get the content of page A which for the end-user is not explicitely visible in navigation. So page A "is" the content of folder A.
This is how web-like nav works, that you can click on a nav entry and that this entry has it's own content and not only the preset content of some sub entry.
Hope it helps to understand what I meant

  • How to change role tabs according to users?

I'm sure somebody else asked this question before but I could not find any answer yet.
I always design roles and check "Entry point" mark to make it one of portal main tabs. Sometimes what I need is creating restricted pages for some groups under the same role. What I mean is, I want to show same role to same groups of users but for some of them I need to restrict access - or make invisible - to some pages or worksets under the role. So is it possible? Or do I need to prepare same copy of role for different needs?
    Thanks...

    Hi,
You can achieve this by grouping the Users,
    Suppose a role has two worksets A & B.
Create a group of users who only need access to Workset A, and another group for Workset B.
Now open your workset and give the eu permission only to the respevetive group.
(Content Admin->Portal Contnet->(You folders)/Your Workset->right click the workset and open permissions)
If users require to access both the worksets, assign them to both groups. Groups can be created and adminstered by User Administration->Identity Management.
You cn use similar settings at page and iView level.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Vamshi

  • Lock Box setting does not restrict access

I have a folder that is set to restrict access - write only mode for everyone - so when my nephews visit, they cannot access my personal files. This is a single user/logon computer. A couple of times now when I click on the "locked" folder in Finder, it opens for full access. The contents of the finder window wiggled back and forth several times and the folder opened. I could also access the folder contents from application. When I did a get info, the settings were still for write only. I backed out of the folder to the desk top and then back to the folder and it behaved properly. Program access was also once more restricted.
One perhaps unrelated thing. Just before this happened, when I clicked on any application on the dock, I got the appropriate finder window instead of switching to or launching the application. It too now works normally.
    Any ideas?

Permissions repairs apply only to items that leave receipt information, essentially only items installed by Apple's installer. As far as stated features working correctly, the permissions system is designed around the user account concept. If you are trying to use it otherwise, you will be disappointed. The computer can't possibly know who is using it, only what account is trying to access something.
Admin users have more privileges than other user accounts. This is necessary to managing the computer. If you want reliable privacy, you must create a less privileged account for others to use; otherwise they will have the same privileges you do. This is no different from leaving your front door unlocked because you want it to function for your convenience.
Regarding folders with system as owner, none should be in your home directory, nor should you be able to change the owner's permissions to write only, whatever the owner is. You can change the permissions of another user added to the list to write only, or those of a group or others, but the owner must always have read privileges. The Finder should not let you violate this rule.
Likewise, you should not have any folders with just admin, wheel, & everyone entries in the list. Admin & wheel are both groups (indicated by the two-headed silhouette icon) -- groups cannot be the principle owner (indicated by the one-headed silhouette icon). Missing entries indicate no access privileges for that entity & should never apply to the principle owner.
One potential source of confusion is that non-owner users added to the permissions list also appear with the single-headed silhouette (these permissions are controlled by ACL entries, not the main owner/group/others settings) & sometimes the list in Get Info is not in strict owner/group/others sequence. There are also some anomalies associated with accounts migrated from Tiger.
Because of all this, it is best not to trust the Get Info permissions info to give you the full permissions picture. For that, the Terminal is a better tool. You can use the "ls" command with the "-l" option to show expanded preference info, or with the "-l@e" option to show still more, including extended attributes & the ACL. (Note that the "l" character is a lower case ell, not a capital eye or a one.) If necessary, see the Mac OS X Manual Page For ls(1) for more info about how to use the command.
