Regarding Hyperion related services

Hi,
We are using the Hyperion Sys 9 suite and have deployesd applications as windows services. Although these services are set to Manual, they seem to stop by themselves at times. What would be the possible reasons behind such a behavious of the Hyperion related services?

I am looking for a more generic information.
I mean, what all are the scenarios when a hyperion service comes to a halt? I understand that there may be many possibilities but I am looking for some very generic reasons taht may cause these services to come down.
As regard to your query, the HFMWebSErviceManager on one of our servers was found stopped while it was being monitored by our Ops team. We did not see anything unusual in our logs though.

You are on track I have followed same exact procedure earlier it self
I have Active directory user "X" I have followed this steps
1) I have user X in active directory
2) I have provision to the group called Finance which is native group
3) I have exported the security information
4) I have taken only that user "X" info from the export file
5) I have tried to same info through the import file.
Still I see the issue it not updating that user group info

Issue regarding access of ABAP related services from portal

We need your input in the following issue:
Scenerio:
we have implemented ess 1.2 on ep7.0
here we have gone for "Enhanced Package 2" for TRAVEL for client requirements so Travel Services are ABAP WEBDYNPRO instead of Standard JAVA WEBDYNPRO and we have 2 transaction iviews on portal.
Now when an end user clicks on travel services, the request is forwaded to ABAP WAS. So, we need to maintain two entries in DNS: 1. Portal url, 2. ABAP WAS
Now the client doesnot want to maintain ABAP WAS entry in their dns. BUT if they do not maintain this than end users are not able to access ABAP related services...
Can you please suggest any possible solution for this issue.

Per SAP Note 1040325, it says "It is not possible if there is another component between the browser and the message server (for example, a portal)." In your case a firewall between the portal and WAS. So a direct connection between the client and the WAS system is required which is a security risk. The section below gives more detail on why this is the case/
The following is a excerpt from the Portal "Network and Communication Security" guide:-
Please note that the requirement for direct access between the client and the backend is well flagged in the documentation. For instance, please refer to the Portal Security Guide, specifically the section "Network and Communication Security" (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/b9/c892f1ffc34156883ddd24aec01253/frameset.htm):
'Neither the portal nor the AS Java provides a proxy function. [...] If you have set up a network architecture with one or more firewalls, and your portal integrates iViews that initiate client-backend communication, you must set up access for the client through the firewalls to the application server in the back end.'
So the only secure solution is to install a webdispatcher in your DMZ and forward the requests from the (5) Portal to the (6) webdispatcher as in the graphic below :-

(1) Client (IE) -> (2) Firewall |.........................|-> (4) Firewall |
.........................................\-> (6) Webdisp -/......................\-> (7) WAS
The original requests bound for the (5) Portal are relayed via the (3) webdisp1 as you can only have one webdisp connecting to one backend SAP system (Portal OR WAS).

Yes, the user has the Provisioning role and can edit and save user roles, but they cannot update native groups that users are assigned too.

Essbase admin server is not responding in 11.1.2.2 and related services ??

I've installed & configured Hyperion 11.1.2.2. When i entered admin & password in EAS console, the message is displaying as Essbase Administration server is not responding. Can you pls. let me know, what is the service for Essbase Admin services. Also when i'm trying the link http://servername:9000/interop, page not found is displaying. Is it must that Hyperion Configuration Manager service should be up & running ? Where i can find the service for shared services ? where i can find all the related services of different hyperion products. Thanks in advance for the help

If you have deployed all the web applications to a single managed server then there will be one service to start the web apps - "Hyperion EPM Server - Web Application"

The default port is 9000, if you are still having problems then it is worth checking the logs.

I am working on hyperion shared services 9.3.1 version.
Can you any one tell me how to assign the database calculation & filter access in shared services.
What i have did is,
I have created the 3 users in essbase & migrated those users into shared service mode & also register all applications to shared services as well.
All applications are reflecting under analytic servers also.
I have given the Here is some of the roles specific to Essbase in Shared Services.
Server Roles (Administrator, Create/Delete App, Server Access)
Application Roles (App Manager, DB Manager, Start/Stop Application, Calc, Write, Filter and Read Roles.
Poblem is i am not able to assign the database calculation & filter access in shared services.
Please,please could any one guide me ...

It is super non-intuitive. I mostly work in Planning (which handles all of this behind the scenes) and when I, alas, infrequently get to use real, honest-to-goodness Essbase I have to relearn this. It never seems natural.
You'd think after relearning it three or four times, I'd get it, but nope, it's just "weird".

Hyperion Shared Services Configuration Error with Weblogic 9.2

Hi All,
I have been trying to configure Hyperion Shared Services 9.3.1 with Weblogic Ver 9.2
During configuration of the Database and the Application Server, I select Manual Configuration option on Weblogic 9
However, it returns a configuration failure everytime of the Database.
In my case, the DB used is SQL 2005.
Can someone, please advise me.

Hyperion Shared Services 9.3 does not display UserDirectories

Hello!
We are working with Hyperion Shared Services 9.3.
Since today, when I "Expand" UserDirectories folder (or another in the same left menu), it doesnt finish load (appears another folder that says: "Loading..." but never finish).
Can anyone tell me what may be causing it? This "Shared Services Server" is in a Client in another country, so, we don´t know if any changes that they could do cause that fail.
I check SharedServices9 logs and only find that as "unusual" thing:

But, I read in some posts, that this CSS.xml file could be in read only, or currupted, but I check both CSSs (I read in a JhonGoodwin post that there are 2 CSS.xml files to check, and I check both).
Some ideas? I´m all ears... :)

Last, can you tell me what Browser do you recommend for Hyperion 9.3?
I think that it is the problem, because support department has upgraded some patches at server.
I try to downgrade one version from IE8, but I appreciate that you recommend me the "best" browser.

Related Services iView/Dynamic Nav. and Keeping Detail Nav. the Same

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to create Detail Navigation where the items in the navigation list are grouped together by like categories. This can be acheived through typical navigation where like items are grouped together within a closed folder structure; however, I am trying to achieve something a little different.
I would like for the items to be grouped together by a heading (bold text) and then have the services appear below that. I would also like for the items in the nagivation list to be unchange no matter what service is clicked. The service that is clicked should be displayed in the Portal Content Area. This can almost be achieved by setting up dynamic navigation using an iview that was created like a 'Related Services iView'. The only problem is that the Detail Navigation changes to only show the current grouping when a service is selected in that grouping...meaning that the entire navigation structure disappears when a service is selected. Does anyone know of a way to keep the detail navigation the same no matter what service is selected. Below is an example of what I would like to see in the Detail Navigation.
Group 1
     Service A
     Service B
     Service C
Group 2
     Service D
     Service E
     Service F
Group 3
     Service G
     etc, etc, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Move the ul tag from "Sublist Template Before Rows" to "List Template Current with Sublist Items" and "List Template NonCurrent with Sublist Items"

Hyperion Apache service

Hi,
I have integrated OBIEE with EPM workspace.
Now, I am not able to start the Hyperion Apache service. Other Hyperion are in started mode.
Any pointers regarding this would be helpfull.

Hi Akshat,
I am assuming that you have distributed environment that is setup and you are able to login to all the other components and also to OBIEE.
1. Make the "Hyperion Apache 2.0" service to manual.
2. Start the Server which has OBIEE installed on it.
3. Make sure you are able to login to OBIEE.
4. Now start the "Hyperion Apache 2.0" service. It should start.
Let us know if any errors

Hyperion Shared Service issue ( Urgent)

Please help anyone who knows this issue..
Hyperion Shared Service is not getting up.When I tried to do manual start of service on the server it stops after some time..I tried to connect to database and I was able to connect.
Please let me know what else I need to do to resolve this issue.

I start Shared Service from the start menu ->Administrative Tool -> services.
I checked Event log file and found below message after the service stops.
*"The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( HyS9SharedServices ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service stopped".*
