Regarding Ibots

Hi Gurus,
What is the use of ibot...? why we need to send the reports to there personal mail ids and mobiles they can access the reports from portal and internet.Even though in their mobiles also they can access the internet and see their reports why we need to send the alerts.
Can any one send how to configure the ibots and how we have to check weather report as reached to the destination.

OBIEE has a good feature called "Delivers" to send alerts or email notification to the users to alert them for specific Business condition for example how the sales are going whether they are going good or bad,Business people need some kind of alerts to know these conditions..In OBIEE by using Ibots(called as Agents in 11g)we can achieve this...

Hi,
You can send it as an attachment to retain original formating.
You can refer variiables in subjec line, usethe current date variable name in subject like:@{biServer.variables.variablename}

Could you Clear the browser cache and re-load the page or log in to OBIEE.
if its not working then try to Re-deploy the Analytics Application, using the file $Middleware_Home\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\jee\analytics.ear

i followed some links to configure ibots .
when i run it i get the error shown below.
AgentID: /users/weblogic/test_ibot
Invalid subscribers skipped: weblogic AgentID: /users/weblogic/test_ibot
Device (dashboard) is not set in (weblogic) delivery profile.
AgentID: /users/weblogic/test_ibot
[nQSError: 75005] Failed to send AUTH command. 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful.
please help me to solve this problem.

Userid and password that we use to connect to the SMTP server - in short ex- Microsoft Outlook
You may check this with your admin - if uid and pwd is really required to connect to your smtp - if not then like i said earlier- just follow the 2nd step from that blog.
Whenever you do a change in em - restart the BI services and test.

he wants the report in mail. for that i configured ibots.
but they want conditional ibot .
i have seen it but not able to understand since they want condition on the value of rows not on count of rows.
please help me how to create it.

Hi,
First about the functionality of the conditional request: On the conditional request tab of the iBot you can read:
Select a request which will trigger the current iBot. This request may be refined further by creating subquery filters. The iBot is considered triggered if the conditional request returns one or more rows
This means that the delivery content of the iBot will only be sent when the conditional request returns one or more rows.
Ex:-
scheduling the iBot: you can set the recurrence of the iBot to Monthly. This means that every month the iBot will be run.
So, what if you use a conditional request in your Monthly iBot? Every month it will first run the conditional request, when this conditional request will return rows, the iBot will be triggered and will sent the delivery content of the iBot, otherwise the delivery content won't be sent.
To make it more clear: this doesn't mean that once the conditional request is met, the iBot will be run monthly forever, but every month the results of the conditional request will be checked.

Saving iBots in the Shared Folder

Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding iBots:
1. How do I save the iBots in the Common Shared iBots folder? (I can do this as an Administrator, but not as any other user)
2. How can I have the content delivered as an Excel file to my dashboard. I changed the "Content As" on the Delivery Content Tab to Attachment(Excel 2000), but when I open the Alerts link on the Dashboard, the report still shows up in a new browser window as a HTML file, not Excel.
I would appreciate your help.

When I try to use the Publish for Subscription option for any user other than Presentation Server Administrator,
I get the error "access denied for user to path /shared/_ibots/Test iBot. Error Details Error Codes: O9XNZMXB".
On point #2, We are not planning to email the report. I just want the user to login to his dashboard and click on "Alerts" on the top of the page. When they click on Alerts, I want the report to open in Excel format.

IBot Issue regarding excel files

Hello All,
I am facing an iBot Problem .
Problem description:
Application running in Oracle Business Intelligence 11.1.1.6.0
OBI scheduler server is working fine, so scheduled iBots are being delivered successfully. However, whenever the agent is supposed to send an excel file attached, it results truncated or corrupted. In contrast, the pdf report is delivered correctly. On the other hand, in other all cases, the exports to excel are working fine.
I restarted the server twice, but I am facing the same error.
Please suggest any solution.

Problem regarding saving ibots

hi...good evening...
I am setting up ibots for BI Analytics in solaris server..
I have successfully ran all the steps...
1)createing S_NQ tables 2)configuring the job manager 3)configuring the scheduler etc etc.
also i have ran the cryptotools and also changed the instanceconfig.xml.
But when i am trying to save an ibot ,it is throwing error..
Oracle BI Scheduler Error: [nQSError: 68019] Authentication Failed.
Error Details
Error Codes: GYFPI8RN
plss help...
(one thing i can mention: while running the cryptotools i.e updating the credentialstore.xml file, it didnt ask me for file already exists.do you want to overwrite it? y/n(y): )

I had a similar problem when configuring the scheduler, but without a bit more detail I cant advise.
You should have at least changes in the following:
web/config/instanceconfig.xml
web/config/credentialstore.xml
In the credential store, the alias MUST be "admin" all lower case. my entry looks like:

we are using sibel analytics 7.7.1 ,.
my requirement is to send report in excel format as attachment through ibots to mails.
is it possible in 7.7. Default we can send as plain text, pdf, HTML format we can send the report . We need in excel format.

Unable to open Obiee IBOT pdf file

Hi,
The IBOT was sending the file in PDF format through mail, while i tried to open the file its showing the popup message " The Adobe Reader couldnt open the file xx.pdf file, because it is either not a supported file or because the file is being damaged."
While other formats are able to open, the obiee version iam using is 10.1.3.4.1

One ibot for multiple reports (or all reports in one topic/folder)

up one ibot for every single report?

Thanks for that. I wonder how to prove that the caching worked or that is has been done.
I noticed the .TBL files in the cache directory but that does not tell me much. Using OBI Administration and looking at the cache on the physical layer
did not help me either understand how all reports in my dashboard are now cached by running the ibot at midnight.
Out of the BI Answers, Delivers and Dashboards manual:
"NOTE: The Oracle BI Server maintains its own cache. This cache is separate from the Oracle BI
Presentation Services cache.
When you select a specific dashboard or request, Oracle BI Presentation Services checks its cache
to determine if the identical results have recently been requested. If so, Oracle BI Presentation
Services returns the most recent results, thereby avoiding unnecessary processing by the Oracle BI
Server and the back-end database. If not, the request is issued to the Oracle BI Server for
processing."
So basically I want to know how I can see that BI Presentations Services has
really cached the reports in my dashboard i.e. if my ibot works

How to automate storing ibot results in a directory

Hello,
I have a requirement of
1. scheduling couple of reports which runs every day
2. Automating storing the results of the scheduled reports (Alerts) in a directory in the server (with date sufix to the files or in a new directory for date).
My development environment is in Windows which I'm working currently and production environment would be in UNIX. Please suggest solution in both cases.
3. Finally to create a dashoboard for end users with a date prompt to access these files depending on the date filter.
My approach for the point # 1 and 3 are as below
1. Scheduling set of reports by using Ibots which I configured successfully to run the reports on daily basis.
3. I want to create a table with column1 to store date, column2 to store file name and column3 with BFILE data type to store the link to the files in a directory. This part I would like to automate in a unix script in production. And want to create a request with date filter and display file content from column3.
Please correct me if I'm wrong in my above approach and Advice for the point number 2 to automate downloding of the scheduled report results in a file.
Regarding point #2 Is it something to do with GO URL?? I executed the URL (http://XXXXX:XXX/analytics/saw.dll?GO&NQUser=Administrator&NQPassword=Administrator&Path=/shared/transactions/Sales+By+Month&Action=download&Options=md) from Internet Explorer and its prompting to save the results in a location. Can we give file location like C:\DOWNLOAD also in the URL? And how can I call this URL inside a shell script or from windows command prompt?

Thank you very much for your detailed inputs regarding Point #2 Prakash.
You are right in saying that I've this requirement to improve performance and users don't need to execute the reports again and again by hitting database or from cache. Because data per day is bit large to store in the table or to caching the data.
Regaring point #3 I want to use BFILE datatype to store the location of the file so that I'm planning to display hyperlink of the files to the users in OBIEE dashboard accordingly users will download the required report data.
Files I can store anywhere by using Ibots as suggested. Could you please suggest any approach in OBIEE to highlight a link to the files in a report or dashboard to download the required files data?
I found that I couldn't able to select BFILE data type column in Physical layer to see the data. and also its throwing error when I select this presentaion column in the report.
Below error message I'm getting:

Save iBot in Shared folder

Hi Gurus,
1) I loged in as Administrator and created the iBot when i am trying to save the iBot it is saving in the MyiBots folder i dont see any option to travers to the Shared iBots folder. Is anything i need do to save the iBots in Shared folder.
2) How to migrate the ibots from one enveronment to another?

Please check the Publish for Subscription in the Recipients Tab and then Save the Ibot you will be directed to the Shared Folder.
