Regarding installtion of PI
what are the passwords we hav to mention for sap system>os user p/w during installation
Hello
I have moved this thread to the Netweaver Administrator forum. You have a better chance of getting a quality answer to your query if it is opened in the correct forum. I think the Netweaver Administrator is the best forum for this issue.

Why can't I see the Final Cut Studio icon after installation?
All the installation process went fine and it even displayed "Installation Successful!" And now I can't find it anywhere
Go to www.digitalrebellion.com and get the fcp uninstaller and then reinstall.
Are you sure you've chosen the right options for the install if you're doing a custom install.
Here's a user tip regarding installtions. Making disk images of the installation dvd's can save an enormous amount of time.

We are running CRM 2007 and this is a dual stack. I wanted to know what pieces of CRM use the java stack ?
When we traced our transactions they all goto the abap stack. We havent seen any of it using the java stack.
This we see from http watch / e2e trace analysis.
Is it then safe to shut down the java stack ? (for memory and cpu) ?
How to check if the java stack is being used ?
thank you
regardsHello,
All this information is detailed in the "Master Guide" for CRM. You can find it on http://service.sap.com/instguides
then navigate (in the left pane) to "SAP Business Suite App">"SAP CRM">your crm version
Then choose Plan or Install, in both nodes there is very useful information regarding installtion and prerequisites for the different scenarios.
In the guide itself you'll find useful links to notes for more detailed information.
Hope this is what you're looking for.
Kind regards,

Issue regarding SM700 installtion
Hello All experts,
When I installed a SM7 server, I met a problem as below, Could anyone give me some advice?
Problem:
As per the installtion guide said, after double-click SAPINST.exe, welcome screen will appear, in this screen, the installer can choose one of the selection options:
-- SAP Systems
-- Software Life-Cycle Options
BUT, after I double-click SAPINST.exe, there are still two selection options appear on welcome screen, but they are:
-- SAP Solution Manager Diagnostics Agent
-- Software Life-Cycle Options
that is, I have no choise to choose the Central System, coz the menu -- SAP Systems does not appear at all.
Note: I have not install NW70SP14 on this server before install SM7.
Thanks in advance for giving me some advice of this problem.
BR,
KarlHi,
I think your operating system is 32bit and the SOLMAN you have it 'll support only 64bit OS
Also refer these Notes 1145779 & 1071445
As of SAP Solution Manager 7.0
you can only install dialog
instances on 32-bit platforms
All remaining SAP system
instances (central instance, database instance, central
services instance (SCS), ABAP central services instance
(ASCS)) you can only install on 64-bit platforms.
Therefore the folder "SAP Systems" is not available on the "Welcome
screen", when you start the installation from a installation master
DVD for 32-bit.
You may need to install dialog instances on 32-bit if you want to
use 32-bit SAP NetWeaver components, such as Adobe document
services. We recommend, however, to first check whether these
32-bit components can run on 64-bit operating systems. If so, we
recommend to use 64-bit systems for these components, including the
dialog instance.
If you want to install a complete SAP Solution Manager 7.0 system
on a 32-bit platform, you have to proceed as follows:
1.) Install a SAP Solution Manager 4.0 SR3 system.
2.) Patch this system to SAP Solution Manager 7.0.
For more information on support package levels of SAP Solution
Manager 7.0, see SAP Note 78144

RE: how can two Forte installtion communicate
Hi,
I have similar arrangement here but for "user acceptence test". However,
may I remind you that when some objects/codes got checked out --> overwrite
with new import --> integrate --> check out again. Some funny things ( I
would say corruption ) may happen. I have one time that a normal old piece
of code got compilation error and no one can find out why. The last resort
is that I deleted everything and start from scratch again. Then everything
works.
Thus, I would suggest that from time to time, you should start out with a
new repository instead of using it over and over again in this fashion.
Maybe you can archive the old one as a version backup.

Peter Sham.

We have a similar situation here. We have about seven teams,
each
with their own repositories with interdependent code.
Let me give you a simple scenario to explain how you can
make it
work:
Problem
--Team A is responsible for projects 1,2,3 and use repository RepA
--Team B is responsible for projects 4,5,6 adn use repository RepB.
--Project 2 is a supplier plan to project 5 and project 3 is a
supplier plan
to project 6.
Solution
--each repository is reponsible for some projects and these projects
can be
changed only in that repository.
--each repository also has a workspace called "SlaveProjects"
--This workspace has all the projects that are needed but are not
developed
by this team.
--These projects are checked out so that no one else can change them
-- so, RepB's slaveProjects workspace will have projects 2 and 3
(and other
projects they need).
-- You can also password protect the slaveProjects workspace.
-- When team A thinks they have a new working(or atleast compilable)
"version" of projects 2 and 3, they can trigger of an fscript which
will
export the projects 1 and 2, possibly save it in version control.
-- team B can then trigger another fscript which will pull the code
from
version control, import the projects 1 and 2 into RepB's
slaveProjects
workspace, integrate it and recheck everything out.
Options
-- you can get fancy with the scripts
-- you can add the two scripts together to do the whole thing in one
shot.
However existense of many such repositories can cause integrate
failures and
you might not know where exactly it stopped. You need to log the
output to
keep track.
-- you should probably make the second script actually create a
temporary
workspace, and import projects there and integrate. This is in case
you had
many other projects in the slaveprojects workspace that need not be
integrated and rechecked out each time.
-- you could create an application in forte or VB etc.. to make this
process
more sophisticated.
Hope that gives you a start. Different locations definetly
adds more
complexity to this, but the concept should be the same. If you have
more
questions or need more help, I suggest you call Len Lopez at
612-594-2539
who has played around with this stuff a lot. He put in place a VB
app that
does most of the stuff for us and will probably make a presentation
at the
Forte Forum this year on the same topic.
Good Luck!

Configure SLD during the Installtion
I am installing the XI and EP system with NetWeaver 04s. At the moment, I am at step "Cental SLD", pretty much the beginning of the installtion. It says that I have to enter my SLD configuration.
I have the option between:
- Configure local SLD
- Register in existing central SLD.
I am assuming that I have to have installed an SLD upfront. Is that true??? If yes, how can I install the SLD before the installtion routine?
Which option should I choose??
Thanks.

Go through the Urls and configure your SLD. If you do face problem post it back here.

Thanks in advance.
Thanks & Regards,
Rayeez.Hi Shaik,
Follow these steps while installing XI:
1. Windows server or advanced server with latest service patch.
2. IE 6.0 with latest service patch
3. Install Microsoft office and winzip, acrobat
4. Install JDK with version 1.4.2_03 or above with the corresponding JVM
5. Install the SAP GUI 6.20
6. Make sure that you have hard disk space of 10 GB in C drive and 50 GB in the installation drive.
7. Make sure the virtual memory is between 512 and 1594 or above for the installation drive.
8. Copy the dumps of following DVDs into the installation drive.
Installation Master DVD
Installation Export
Additonal Components for SAP BW/SAP XI,SAP MI,SAP KW
SAP Web As Java
9. Start the installation from the DVD dump Installation Master DVD.
10. When installing the ABAP Database the SID of the oracle default database should be different the ABAP database SID.
U can go through the Installtion Guides for Installing XI from http://service.sap.com/instguides (SR1 installation)
u can also refer to service.sap.com/platforms to see the available platform on which XI can be installed. ( Windows/linux/UNIX)
or you can even go through this weblog which clearly talks to you about XI installation
<a href="/people/sap.user72/blog/2005/05/31/my-experience-with-xi-installation-on-fedora-core-3-linux installation</a>
In addition to this installation guide you also need to download the XI configuration guide which is very useful for technical configurations of various adapters and XI system.
At the same place you will also get the XI configuration guide e.g XI30ConfigGuideSPS11.pdf.
U can also download SAP Exchange Infrastructure 3.0 SR1 Installtion Guide from the articles scetion.
ABOUT XI :
If its just that you wanted to know more about sap xi....then the information below should definitely help you.
The best way to learn XI would be to make the maximum use of XI from its forums, weblogs, presentations, etc in SDN.
First I thought I will just give u the basic steps involved in doing any scenario in XI. This is very essential for a beginner.
First of all you would need to define your product, software component, business system and configure the technical landscape in the sld.
You then go on to create the objects in the repository, you import your software component here and then begin your design steps. To import your RFCs n Idocs if you require any before proceeding.
Then under the name space which you want, you go on to define your data types, message types and message interfaces.
Then you do your message mappings where you specify your source and target message types and the relation between them, then you do your interface mapping. If you are using a BPM, you do the integration process.
Once you have this done, you will have to move to the directory, here is where you define how you use the objects and how you configure them to work as a scenario.
You assign your business system to the configuration scenario which you have created, and create the communication channels. Then you go on to configure the receiver determination, interface determination, and the sender and receiver agreements. Once youre done you will have make sure you activate your objects. The exact parameters steps depend on what kind of scenario you are implementing.
You can use sxmb moni or the runtime workbench to monitor the entire scenario which you have done.
Also I would suggest this link on SAP help for any info that you want on XI,
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/14/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
Further, this thread deals with everything that is needed for a starter on XI. Do check them out,
JDBC Receiver: exact SQL statement
/message/527697#527697 [original link is broken]
And after you are done with the documentation probably you can go through this scenario,
JDBC Receiver: exact SQL statement
Also check the following threads which might help you a little more,
Learning XI
XI 3.0 Training
In simple words regarding learning XI, there is an abundance of information on SDN and help.sap.com . So I think it will be better for you to search information there rather than me just providing you links .which will just go on and on and on .so I felt it is better for you to go and search so that not only you get information on SAP XI but also explore SDN in its real sense.

297347 25.07.2011Hi,
i am runnning setting now on xp for testing master installtion but it shows only software Life cycle option under Enhancement package 5 for sap ERP 6.0
Yes, the installation options in the SAPInst screen depend on the Operating system being used. Win XP is not supported for central system installation and hence you do not see those options. Run the same SAPInst in Windows 2008(R2) you will get the installation options.
Guide are available at http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Business Suite Apps -> SAP ERP -> ERP EhP5 Installation..
