Regarding Java Process
Hi,
I created a java Process using Runtime.getRuntime().exec() .
How can i use this process to launch another java application?
What & how parameter should be given inside exec() method?
plz help me
parameters are just as you'd run java from the commandline
so
java x.y.foo param1 param2
I believe that you can put this all into one parameter and run it with Runtime.exec and it will work

General Question Regarding Image Processing
Hi All,
I need a suggestion regarding image processing and this is the best place to get best advise.
we need an image processing utility for our web processing.
requirements are as described below:
we have a e commerce based application where we need to display product images which we are currently displaying successfully.
now we have to provide user with image processing functionality like user can zoom image can flip image can rotate image.
what we want like when user click on zoom we can generate a dynamic image of that region based on a single source of image and can provide zooming functionality.
more over company requirements is to go for only open source solution [:-)]
we tried some open source solutions but due to the in house E-Commerce framework constraints we not able to integrate them,.
can any one point me to any open source java based library so that we can use that to provide solution or do we need some other approach.
Here is a link for a image zooming example hough this is highly professional solution using Adobe Scene7 but we want to implement something like in image zooming
[Zoom Demo|http://s7d2.scene7.com/s7ondemand/zoom/flasht_zoom.jsp?company=S7Web&sku=AnthroISwebDemo&config=S7Web/AnthroISwebDemo&zoomwidth=500&zoomheight=500&viewer=/skins/S7Web/SWFs/loaders/genericzoomLfour.swf&vc=codeRoot%3D%2Fis-viewers351%2Fflash%2F]
any help in this regard will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
-UmeshIt is never safe to assume that any allocation was successful, and while it's incredibly unlikely that you're running into any such situation, it's entirely possible for a formal protocol to declare that a given message send should return immediately without waiting around:
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/ObjectiveC/Articles/ch apter13_section_8.html#//appleref/doc/uid/TP30001163-CH9-BAJIGHAF
An "impression" doesn't prove much unfortunately, so I'd recommend getting friendly with the debugger to see what's really going on. -
Need help regarding Java decoding of IMAP attachment (IOStream related ques
Hi ,
I need some help regarding the processing of an IMAP attachment , It is a basic IOStream related question I guess.
I have some attachment to a mail , I try to fetch it using javamail and read the content and write it to a file , I was able to do it successfully when I was using stream.read( tempBuffer) function but when I started using stream.read( tempBuffer, 0, m_maxDataSize ); it is giving me following exception
java.io.IOException: Error in encoded stream: needed at least 2 valid base64 characters, but only got 1 before padding character (=), the 10 most recent characters were: "/59PT/eXQ="
at com.sun.mail.util.BASE64DecoderStream.decode(BASE64DecoderStream.java:259)
at com.sun.mail.util.BASE64DecoderStream.read(BASE64DecoderStream.java:148)
***Here is the snippet of code that is running this:***
m_contentObj = m_message.getContent();
if(m_contentObj instanceof InputStream)
System.out.println(" Content is type of InputStream");
InputStream stream = (InputStream) m_contentObj;
byte[] tempBuffer = new byte[m_maxDataSize];
stream.skip( m_currPos );
int bytesRead=stream.read( tempBuffer, 0, m_maxDataSize );
System.out.println(" Read the following no of bytes from the Object::"+bytesRead);
m_currPos+= bytesRead;
Please suggest what to do.
Thanks & Regards

SunOS 5.10 spawns multiple PID's for same java process
On SunOS 5.10 I see same java process having multiple PID's. ps -ef lists out the same java process running from same path with multiple PID's. What can be the reason for this?
Please let me know if you need some more information.....
Edited by: sayanb on Jan 5, 2010 9:29 AMHi Chris,
Thank you for this update.
Again this seems to be a known issue on SunOS 10.Also I will try to take the stack strace for the specific java process.
http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=546&threadID=5297465
http://groups.google.com/group/bojug/browse_thread/thread/19d722275c4384b8
Basically the issue seems to be with one of the fork system calls which confuses with active and actual threads running.The above link speaks about the same , faced by similar users.
Any updates will be appreciated.Meanwhile will try to get the stack trace.

Too many java processes.
Hi,
I have installed Forms & Reports Services Standalone 10.1.2.0.2 on RHEL 5 and applied the 10.1.2.3 patch to it. After the patch, the java processes continue to grow so fast that sometimes when I open a new session and try to switch to oracle user, I get a "too many processes" error.
Apparently these java processes are from the Reports Server, however I haven't even yet configured the Reports server and am not doing anything with the reports server at the moment. Right now, I'm only configuring the Forms server.
So, I am wondering what is going on here - why are there so many java processes and what to do about it?
Thanks.Hi,
Based on dependency better you can go for 3 parellel process at a time as what we are doing in our project.
check schedule time for each your process chain which fetchs data from source system (Info Package) and re schedule them which should not execute at a time (make it max 3) and try again

Attached the error for reference.

Spawn a java process using runtime.exec() method
Hi,
This is my first post in this forum. I have a small problem. I am trying to spawn a java process using Runtime.getRuntime().exec() method in Solaris. However, there is no result in this check the follwoing program.
/* Program Starts here */
import java.io.*;
public class Test {
public static void main(String args[]) {
String cmd[] = {"java", "-version"};
Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
try{
Process proc = runtime.exec(cmd);
}catch(Exception ioException){
ioException.printStackTrace();
/* Program ends here */
There is neither any exception nor any result.
The result I am expecting is it should print the following:

Please help me out in this regard
Thanks in advance
Chotu.Yes your right. It is proc.getInputStream() or proc.getErrorStream(). That is what I get for trying to use my memory instead of looking it up. Though hopefully the OP would have seen the return type of the other methods and figured it out.

Invoking SSL via a Java process..
Hi All,
I am trying to use Weblogic 5.1 with SSL. I have the SSL working in
weblogic through a browser. That is, I have been able to successfully
do the folllowing:
~ weblogic.security.key.server=www_mysite_com-key.der
~ weblogic.security.certificate.server=MyCert.pem
~ weblogic.security.certificate.authority=getcacert.cer
Hence my browser clients are now presented with a login-box and are
able to run through https://localhost:7002/
But my querry is --
~ I start weblogic in one window
~ and now, how do I run a java-client (distributor.cmd) which runs
as another batch script, to use SSL ?
Do I need to write some programs which will use "HttpsURLConnection
class" to route the above distributor.cmd through https:// or through
t3s:// ?
Any pointers would be welcome..
Thanks and Regards
JuhiThe front-end is non-graphical. We generate our beans and descriptors from
our own file format, so we want a complete compiler that takes it from
our format->deployable beans.
Jason Jonas wrote:
here's a loaded question... what's wrong with the ejb deployment
wizard? this is certainly a front-end to DDCreator and ejbc. depending
on the development environment you're using, you may want to look at
the inline plug-in. it supports visual cafe, jbuilder, forte ide's and
the weblogic, webshpere and oracle 8i app servers. check out
www.inline-software.com. the command utils are there for, well,
command-line and batch/make file support. personally, i wouldn't even
consider writing a front-end for them, but would concentrate my
efforts on my application.

In order to streamline our development process, I am writing afrontend
to DDCreator and ejbc.
Right now, we are just invoking the main() method as follows:
String [] args = new String [] {
deploymentDescriptorFilePath,
"-d", baseDir, "-noexit" };
weblogic.ejb.utils.DDCreator.main (args);
This works fine, but there a better way to do this? I cannot find any
API documentation for either of the utilities (only command syntax
reference).

Handling .class files insite java process
Hello folks
I have a question regarding JVMPI and JVM: I have created a small proff-of-concept program that handles JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD_HOOK and JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD events. After my class (simple Test.java with System.out.println) has beed loaded (*CLASSLOAD_HOOK event) I remembered pointer and size of .class file in memory of java process. Then, after CLASSLOAD event I filled this memory with zeroes (memset) to see if Test.class will execute normally. And it did worked fine. My question is: does java process need this memory after JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD event? Can I safely override .class file data?
Best Regards
BoloekAt some point, the JVM writes the contents of the
class file into memory that's accessible via coredump.
Otherwise it couldn't execute the bytecodes. If you
zero out the memory where the physical .class file was
loaded, it won't affect the memory where the actual
class is stored.you are wrong :-) I did some testing and I caught three events:
- LOADHOOK where I remembered pointer to .class file and size of it
- _LOAD where I zeroed this memory
- JVMSHUT_DOWN where I caused SIGSEGV to force coredump.
I tested two cases: with and without clearing memory and then searched two different core-files for content of *.class file. I only found it in core dumped in a situation when I did not use memset to clear memory. It is because (as I assume) java process after loading .class file makes some optimisations to efficiently execute bytecode so representation of my code exists in memory of proces but in unreadable, undocummented and undecompilable (at least for non jvm developers) format which is characteristic to particular JVM implementation
Someone who wants your code badly enough is going to
get it.sure but I try to make him this task as difficult as I can ;)
Best Regards

SAP BASISHello Sonia,
Can you ask your network team to monitor the traffic between primary and virtual host when you try to start java i.e STARTING_APP as it tries for 20mins and stopped.
I had the similar issue but with App server.Its almost the similar condition.Our network team managed to open some ports and removed the firewall.
After that issue got resolved..
Hope it helps

Running Java process in Back ground
We have a script that starts a Java process in Background. But still if I try to exit from the 'Console', it's not allowing me to do so, and if I forcibly kill the console, it's killing my Java process. My question is, how can I make my java process to run completely in background? Secondly, will the JVM have any references to the console through which it is being called. Please help me.
Hi Sastry66,
If your application is going to use stdout/stderr, then there may be a problem. Try to redirect stdout/stderr using shell redirections when starting your java program. You may also want to try using exec java <class-file> to start the process.

J2EE:some java processes running
HI!
I have a general question regarding the SAP Solution Manager.
We have succesfully installed SAP SOLMAN 4.0 (Windows, Oracle).
Unfortunately when I start SAP system with MMC-Console, I see that the Java-instance is yellow.
(disp+work.exe --> tells, J2EE:some java processes running).
I cann log on to the system, but it scares me a lot (in Tr. SICK are no errors).
<b>Can some one tell, wheter it is critical and how can I solve this problem?</b>
Thank you!
regardsit seems, that your j2ee engine is not coming up correctly.

PRODUCTION ISSUE - Java process terminates unexpectedly
Hello,
I realize this is a BEA forum, however, we are perplexed by this issue and perhaps someone here has experienced something similar. Apologies if this topic is out of context to BEA.
We are trying to troubleshoot a production issue where the JAVA process terminates without any debugging information available to try and understand the cause. This is a Windows 2K3 Server running JAVA 1.4.2_04 using native C++. (We are **NOT** running Weblogic on this server)
Can anyone provide insight into how to debug this problem? Specifically, do any management beans exist to where we can track the crashing process or perhaps any tools? This is occurring frequently and we have no means of debugging this issue all while this is occurring on a PRODUCTION server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
