Regarding Migration from Testing to Development

Hi All,
I am going to migrate from Windows 32-bit to unix 64 bit. I am using hyperion 9.3.1. I dont know, how to migrate from windows 32 bit to unix 64 bit.
I want to migrate Planning, Essbase and Shared Services. This is the first time, i am doing the migration. Please guide me in this situation. Its very urgent for me.
My Doubts
1) What are the files(In planning, essbase and shared Services) i have to copy for the migration?
2) What are the steps, i have to follow during the migration?
Please guide me in this situation. If u have any documents for migration, please share with me. This is my mail id : [email protected]
Thanks,
Lakshmi

Hi,
I am doing the migration for Planning. I am following the below stepts for migration. I am stuck in the middle.
The below are some steps to use in Migrating .
1. Create a new database on Production RDBMS Server for your planning application.
I created a new database (MIGRDB)
2. Configure a data source on Production Planning Server.
I configured the datasource
3. Create fresh planning application on Production Server and Ensure the admin is the same as your planning application on Development Server.
I created the new planning application in developement server
4. Go into the database tables for the planning app on Production Server and look at table HSP_USERS; store the SID value against user 50001.
How to find the SID for the new database? Here i want to replace the 50001 with new database sid value(step 1 - MIGRDB)
Please guide me in this situation.
Thanks,
Lakshmi

  • Migrating from test to prod

    Hi All,
After migrating a BPEL process from test to production changed the deployment descriptors for BAM hostname/username/password using BPEL PM (prod). However, the changes did not take effect. Sensor data was not sent to the production BAM server.
What's the best way to migrate from test to production a BPEL process that has BAM sensors?
    Thanks.

If you are using BPEL 10.1.3.1 there is a bug with BPEL PM that any time you modify any of the descriptor values, you must retype the password. Failure to do this will cause BPEL PM to encrypt the *'s as the password.
Check and make sure the user account that BPEL is connecting to BAM with is not locked out because of this.
Once you get everything typed in and saved correctly, do a restart on the BPEL container to make sure everything is reset.

  • A query Transport from test to development

    Hello,
I want to transport a query from the test server to te development one. How to do that?
I have create the order but i cannot specify that the target is the test server, how to do that? When i do the se10 transaction, my order appear in "local modification" and so i cannot transport it, can you help me please??
I want to do that because I have done a mistake in my query in the development area and so i would restore the first version of this query (the version that i have already transport in the test server)
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Regards,
    Julien

I doubt there will be a transport path setup between your test and development server. Ask the basis guys. If the path is setup then you can double click on the transport request number and change the target server.
Otherwise, if the basis guys are your friends then release the transport and ask them to import the request in development and the query will come in. bare in mind some settings has to be done before you release the transport. the basis guys will walk you through that.
    Hope this helps.

  • Regarding Migration from Weblogic 10.3.0 to 10.3.3

We have configured a domain in our weblogic 10.3.0 installation. With in this domain A J2EE application has been deployed with datasources configuration, JAAS configuration.
Is it possible to migrate to Weblogic 10.3.3 without making any changes in our existing application configuration and domain setup?
If yes can any one please tell us what is the procedure?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
first of all could you please clarify the need for migration from  BO XI 3.0 to 3.1, as you can simply apply SP1 on top of 3.0 and it becomes 3.1.
if you have considered this and still needs to migrate, following are the 3 posible options.
    1. Live-Live Migration - Import Wizard is the tool
    2. BIAR - Live Migration - Import Wizard is the tool
Please reffer the Import Wizrd User guide for the option 1 and 2 link provided in the above thread.
Also the 3rd option is to perform the Databse and Filesystem copy, find the step below.
Launch CCM from the Destination System
Copy all of the file store from your Source implementation to the file store folder for your Destination implementation
Stop SIA - right click and select properties - Go to the Configuration tab - Click on the button to specify the data source -
Select "Copy Data from another Data Source". This will copy the data from your source to the Destination.

  • Migrating from Test Database to Production Database

    Hi,
I have a situation where I created my Portal Pages on test database and now, I want to move everything from test database to my production database. The portal version on both the sites is same (3.0.9.8). I have content areas and applications in my existing test site. What is the best and easiest way to achieve this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Hi,
the easiest way is to make an export of the portal schema en import it into you're production database.

My Test instance has one Planning applciation "PlanApp"
In Production I just installed the Planning, I ahve not created any applicaion yet, but wanted to copy from my test instance.
    Thanks

    Hi,
This topic has been covered quite a few times now on this forum, a bit of searching will give you all the answers you need but in summary :-
Create a new planning app on production
    Register with shared services.
Make it is the same admin name account betwen test and prod.
Go into the oracle schema on prod for your app, extract the SID value from the HSP_USERS table where the user_id = 50001
    Stop Planning on prod
Take an export of the planning app schema on Test
Import the schema over the top of the schema on Prod
Update the HSP_USERS table with the stored SID value on prod.
    Restart Planning.
    Cheers

  • Migrate from Test to New Server - OBIEE

    Hi,
I have been 'evaluating' OBIEE functinality on a small test server for some time, where I have done a large amount of work on both writing reports. developing dashboards, configuring user security and the necessary data architecture in the physical / business model and presentations layers in BI Adminstration.
My question is, what is the easiest way to port the solution as it stands to a different server, without needing to perform extensive rework?
    Thanks for any advice,
    Robert.

Lowest level: copy the RPD and web catalog over to the other server, adjust the NQSConfig.ini and instanceconfig.xml and off you go.
That's assuming you didn't change any web messages, add custom pictures or files, change the styles and/or skins, you're still pointing to the same data sources etc. etc.
You should have a look at one of Marks write-ups from a while back: http://www.rittmanmead.com/2008/04/28/migration-obiee-projects-between-dev-and-prod-environments/

    Hello,
I have my code in Websphere Application Developer v5.0. I need to migrate it to v7.0. We use hibernate framework in our code. I have never tried migrating the code before, so can anyone please guide me on how to do it.

    Hi Bharadwaj,
This is not webspehere forum it weblogic workshop or OEPE forum.
Please check with WASD forum in online and update there.
But As it is also part of the eclipse I would say it would be normal way to upgrade the application by importing the application.
Please check further in WASD forum on this issue.

    Hello Lisa,
I'm embarassed to say that I'm still in the process of migration. Since I need to migrate 3 UC apps (CUCM, UCCX, Unity), I'm being really careful each step and watching out for "fires" every time I did a significant step in the process. I decided scrap out my initial migrate process and start over. I decided to start migrating Unity to UCXN first, then CUCM and UCCX after.
After lots of research on how to use PCD, I was never able to use it with my hardware because of the virtualization license limitation. Here's an excerpt from the PCD administration guide:
    Virtualization Software License Types
Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment is not compatible with all license types of VMware vSphere ESXi, as some of these licenses do not enable required VMware APIs.
The following are compatible with Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment:
    * Cisco UC Virtualization Foundation (appears as "Foundation Edition" in vSphere Client) * VMware vSphere Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, or Enterprise Plus Edition * Evaluation mode license The following are NOT compatible with Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment:
    * Cisco UC Virtualization Hypervisor (appears as "Hypervisor Edition" in vSphere Client) * VMware vSphere Hypervisor Edition
In my lab, I found that using "cucm_9.1_vmv8_v1.7.ova" worked well for me. I was virtualize CUCM 8.0.3 using this OVA (just make sure DNS and IP address settings are exactly the same). I plan to do a refresh upgrade form here.
Using the 10.5 OVA template did not work for me. I couldn't install CUCM 8.0.3 on it. I would get an error message in the middle of installation.
Hope that helps and good luck. Let me know how you're migration went/goes. Maybe we can help each other out.
    -Randy C.

  • Customer Reference regardinf Migration from COBOL to Oracle Developer

    Hi,
Can anyone please share customer references regarding migration from COBOL to Oracle Developer.
    Appreciate if someone can help.
    Thanks,

Can you please share some tools / methodology to perform such migrations particularly from COBOL to Oracle Developer??BIG question. Actually, we did it the hard way -- completely rewrote the entire application. Took 4 years with 8 to 10 developers and analysts.
The only tools we used were what you get from Oracle: Forms, SQL Plus, Reports. It was a huge project, done partly to overcome the Y2K century problems.
AS for training, we did not really get any. We just waded in and started writing code ...which definitely improved after about 6 months.
What sort of system are you looking to convert? How much on-line user interface does it currently have? How many data files?

  • Concept questions (editing jpegs, migrating from Album/Elements)

    Hi Lightroom experts,
I have a collection of jpegs which I have been organizing in Adobe Album, and now Elements 5.0. I was pleased to see that Elements 5 could write the metadata (keywords) to the jpegs rather than relying upon a proprietary database. It was clear to me that in Elements the keywords were in a separate database and one had to expressly write the tags to the files.
In Lightroom there is also a separate database (which requires management - like backing it up on a regular basis). What is not clear to me is how to write the metadata/tags to the original jpeg files. Does that happen automatically or must I instruct Lightroom to do so?
Must I export the files in order to write the adjusted metadata? If so, that means I have two copies (original and exported).
Secondly, I have both Photoshop CS2 and Elements 5.0. Lightroom only has an option to Edit In Elements but I want that option to be Edit in Photoshop. It is unclear how to change that configuration.
Finally, does anyone have any comments regarding migrating from Album/Elements to Lightroom for an amateur photographer like myself? Would you advise that? (I do like what I've seen in Lightroom but need to understand much more).
    Any help/pointers would be appreciated.

    Fielding,
I switched from Elements 5 after only a few weeks with it when I saw the great improvements in Lightroom from beta 4 to version 1. Several reasons for my switch. One, Elements only supports a few metadata tags, mostly keywords. I needed more to do what I wanted to do. Many people use collections in Elements for things that aren't in my opinion suitable, like for keeping trip or event pictures together. You can have that information in metadata by choosing an appropriate metadata field and using it. I'm using Job Identifier in Workflow myself. So I find the metadata support far superior in Lightroom. I was also concerned that Elements, being a product for hobbyists, would not be able to handle the large number of images I intend to put into the database. I already had trouble with the elements database ballooning so I was very concerned. I also think it has about the ugliest interface I've seen in a long time. I suppose the latter doesn't matter, but LR is SO beautiful!
I can't help you with how to get photoshop to show up. Did you try Edit/Preferences? If Elements is the first one there, the second one allows you to choose. Which Photoshop do you have? Before I got CS2 I think I did have PS find it for Lightroom.
You can ask Lightroom to write out the metadata but it does not do it in such a way that you can see it in some other applications. When it says it writes it out as XMP it means it. It's in there, but you can only see it with applications that can read XMP as opposed to IPTC etc. When you export, it does write the metadata in the way most products expect it. I've decided not to worry about this though because a) I back up my lightroom database, and b) if I do decide to abandon Lightroom, or it abandons me, I will in any case have to export everything because without exporting you don't have the Develop adjustments either. Then I back up my LR backups and my image repository, usually nightly.
My migration from Elements did not go very well but I was lucky because I'd just started entering stuff in Elements when I abandoned it -- so I didn't lose much. You can do a search of this forum, maybe on the word elements, to see several threads about the problems people have had. If you have everything in Album you might try a transfer from that first and see if it works. You can always toss your LR database if you want to try a different way of loading it. You do not have to move your files to import them into LR.
If you want a catalog, you will need a database so you get reasonable response on queries, which is presumably the reason for wanting a catalog. Both the Elements database and the LR database are standard databases that you can manipulate yourself, should you choose to do so. Elements is Access, LR is SQLite. I did look at the Elements db but haven't done anything with the LR database. I hope I don't have to because LR can export the metadata. Collections are not in metadata so I'm using collections only for things I don't need to keep.

  • Migrate from JSF to Struts?

    Hi
I have seen some threads in this form regarding migration from Struts to JSF. Most of the posters back then (1999-2003) suggested starting with Struts and then migrating to JSF for production.
Now I have one year of experience with Struts in a Tomcat environment and practically no experience with JSF. My current job involves maintaining JSF code. The boss thinks migrating to Struts would make us independent of the company to whom the JSF project was outsourced.
I would like to know your opinion on migrating from JSF to Struts. How hard is it? Our architecture has Views, View Helpers, Business Context objects, Business Delegate objects, Business Processor objects, DAO (DB2, AS/400), DTO, etc. They seem rich enough semantically when compared with Struts that groups all these under MVC, even though they are complex to manage (job security :).
    I'd appreciate your feedback.
    Thanks
    Murthy

To quote Ron Burdundy, "That doesn't even make any sense!" :) Seriously, though (and I admit a huge bias), that seems like a huge step backward. It seems the logic is this: "We outsourced the development of this system to someone else, and now we're left either maintaining it ourselves or paying them to do it, but, if we rewrite it with $FRAMEWORK, we'll be free of them." Is that right? How is maintaining a Struts app different (frameworks aside) from maintaining a JSF app? This is probably obvious, but that's a step I would neither take nor suggest. :)

  • Migrating from G5

Hi guys - I just got a new MacPro and I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to move my apps and info over from my G5. I started by using the migration tool to bring over all the apps, and then I started mucking with the library to move over prefs and application support files, in the hopes of avoiding any re-registration nightmares, but that seems to have been a bad idea. What's the recommended procedure? (And, if I've botched something in a nasty way, what's the best way to recover?)

Just a note, there is a KB article regarding Migration from Intel from PPC.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304302
This probably doesn't cover the gambit of issues that might be causing you consternation but might be a good starting point.
Additionally, there are other factors that might contribute to this. Several applications add their license and registration keys in a variety of locations, typically the Application Support folder, which should have been copied over with the migration assistant.
A typical migration for me begins with backing up to my .Mac using the .Mac sync. This will back up bookmarks, address books, iCal calendar events ect... Then using migration assistant to copy over my user folder to the new machine.
